= The Travel and Tourism Agency of the Gay Archipelago =

As the [[Gay Archipelago]] (GA for short) continues to grow, there are thousands of residents
visiting our region weekly. We do our best to provide areas within the GA that are unique,
engaging and entertaining.
To make the GA more attractive and assist in promoting areas within our community, we have established a focal point of sorts, called the Travel & Tourism Agency (T&T for short).
 

We hope newcomers and visiting residents will use this new resource to see what the GA has to offer. We know residents are curious to visit and experience the Travel & Tourism Agency, however, we are currently building, decorating and scripting the location. Soon we will invite sim owners and GA officers to visit us and have a tour of our wonderful venue.

= The Structure of the Building / Machinima =
 

 
;The T&T has two structures within its building.
:The square entrance building is only for GA and the GA projects, such as GA wide events, the
:Pride gateway, the Sandbox or other GA-wide community service activities. The other structure
:consists of a multi-level oval which will be for all sims located within the GA and can include
:locations like clubs or special interest groups. We feel it is necessary to provide seperate
:areas so that we don't mix all the various information.

This is why we have decided to make categories:

* GA specials, landscapes or buildings, Shops and malls
* at second floor nature, arts & culture
* at 3rd floor are clubs & mature interest

This service to promote your business is FREE but a tipjar will be onsite for those who have Linden dollars buring holes in their pockets. We have costs and a little help is welcome.
The T&T is doing more. The next issue of our Gay Archipelago Guide will soon be published and we also have a weekly event book. If extra promotion is needed, we can assist by adding posters and articles in both. We are not a totally for-profit commercial venture, so for these advertisements, we are always appreciative of donations to help defray our costs. Certain community services are even exempt from any costs.

The central island called '''''Pallas''''', carries a restoration site of an old, lutheran abbey ruin, where the ''Lauritz Larsson Architecture Bureau'' has its headquarters now - that is where the members of ''Lauritz Larsson Architecture'' show some of their skills and buyable creations. They do mainly custom projects from small parcels to whole continents but a few of the creations are also available in the vendors, though rather the smaller objects like housings, deco and plants. Some of the larger projects were the Costa Rica continent Waterfalls, the Yalta sims, the ER Waterworlds or the Mission Projects like [[Mission Beach]], [[Mission Sea Promenade]], [[Mission-Super-Mare]]...

The abbey itself was founded ages ago as a lutheran monkhouse on an artificial island. Originally surrounded by huge defense walls against pirates and other enemies, the huge outer walls are dismantled now, only a part of the smaller inner walls remained, also most of the vegetable gardens and adjoining buildings are gone. The scriptorium was still almost intact, while the refectory is to be restored. The dormitory and barns will not be restored. Some decent green, fountains and plant beds can be found here nowadays. Walkways lead the visitor around the place. A small dock allows to park boats here temporarily. A free scuba gear dispenser is placed at the dock to explore the underwater area. The whole island is carefully designed to appear rather as a relaxation spot inviting to rest and chill.

The second island in the southwest is named Karatikus. It has semi-private residential character. As long as you dont see any banlines, it is open to public. It has a little beach and some rocks in the backyard. A small fall creates a stream that heads for the ocean. An old ferry stopping randomly at the little dock connects the island with the abbey. (7S) Fishing can be done here, also scuba diving is possible. A free dispenser can be found at the dockingplace of the Abbey Island.. A deserted naval surveillance installation is now used as residential / hangout spot.

= The Travel and Tourism Agency of the Gay Archipelago =

As the [[Gay Archipelago]] (GA for short) continues to grow, there are thousands of residents
visiting our region weekly. We do our best to provide areas within the GA that are unique,
engaging and entertaining.
To make the GA more attractive and assist in promoting areas within our community, we have established a focal point of sorts, called the Travel & Tourism Agency (T&T for short).
 

We hope newcomers and visiting residents will use this new resource to see what the GA has to offer. We know residents are curious to visit and experience the Travel & Tourism Agency, however, we are currently building, decorating and scripting the location. Soon we will invite sim owners and GA officers to visit us and have a tour of our wonderful venue.

= The Structure of the Building / Machinima =
 

 
;The T&T has two structures within its building.
:The square entrance building is only for GA and the GA projects, such as GA wide events, the
:Pride gateway, the Sandbox or other GA-wide community service activities. The other structure
:consists of a multi-level oval which will be for all sims located within the GA and can include
:locations like clubs or special interest groups. We feel it is necessary to provide seperate
:areas so that we don't mix all the various information.

This is why we have decided to make categories:

* GA specials, landscapes or buildings, Shops and malls
* at second floor nature, arts & culture
* at 3rd floor are clubs & mature interest

This service to promote your business is FREE but a tipjar will be onsite for those who have Linden dollars buring holes in their pockets. We have costs and a little help is welcome.
The T&T is doing more. The next issue of our Gay Archipelago Guide will soon be published and we also have a weekly event book. If extra promotion is needed, we can assist by adding posters and articles in both. We are not a totally for-profit commercial venture, so for these advertisements, we are always appreciative of donations to help defray our costs. Certain community services are even exempt from any costs.

After the Nekkid Event, we would like to get that folder. The T&T is here to help and promote
the Gay Archipelago region, but our small team cannot do all the work. We do not have the time
to make promotional items, translate text, or craft notecards. And once again, Texture, Notecard,
Landmark, ALL FULL PERMS. Prefabricated Prims, displays, divers and similar are only filling up
our trashcans but do not result in an appearance in the Tnt!

The central island called '''''Pallas''''', carries a restoration site of an old, lutheran abbey ruin, where the ''Lauritz Larsson Architecture Bureau'' has its headquarters now - that is where the members of ''Lauritz Larsson Architecture'' show some of their skills and buyable creations. They do mainly custom projects from small parcels to whole continents but a few of the creations are also available in the vendors, though rather the smaller objects like housings, deco and plants. Some of the larger projects were the Costa Rica continent Waterfalls, the Yalta sims, the ER Waterworlds or the Mission Projects like [[Mission Beach]], [[Mission Sea Promenade]], [[Mission-Super-Mare]]...

The abbey itself was founded ages ago as a lutheran monkhouse on an artificial island. Originally surrounded by huge defense walls against pirates and other enemies, the huge outer walls are dismantled now, only a part of the smaller inner walls remained, also most of the vegetable gardens and adjoining buildings are gone. The scriptorium was still almost intact, while the refectory is to be restored. The dormitory and barns will not be restored. Some decent green, fountains and plant beds can be found here nowadays. Walkways lead the visitor around the place. A small dock allows to park boats here temporarily. A free scuba gear dispenser is placed at the dock to explore the underwater area. The whole island is carefully designed to appear rather as a relaxation spot inviting to rest and chill.

The second island in the southwest is named Karatikus. It has semi-private residential character. As long as you dont see any banlines, it is open to public. It has a little beach and some rocks in the backyard. A small fall creates a stream that heads for the ocean. An old ferry stopping randomly at the little dock connects the island with the abbey. (7S) Fishing can be done here, also scuba diving is possible. A free dispenser can be found at the dockingplace of the Abbey Island.. A deserted naval surveillance installation is now used as residential / hangout spot.

Mission Beach

== Home of the Mission Bros. Beach Bums ==
(until 5th of dec. 2009)

Mission Beach hosts the Mission Bros. Group of around 1000 members, gay and friends who can hang, have a talk and relax here by the {{sub|Logs}} or build and script (or learn - staff is willing to teach on kind requests) at the {{sub|Building Area}}. Newbies are very welcome!

The group, is being run by a group of friendly senior members, keeping up the great work and the good mood for the Beach Bums. We are happy to offer the nonprofit hangout place to the awesome community - we try to take care of now.

But to continue with the activities: Windsurfing is possible on and around the whole sim since there is lots of water. Also a small {{sub|Dock area}} with bait shop allows the members to moor their boats temporarily.

In that harbor area of the waters, scuba diving is possible with lots of [[underwater stuff]] to discover. The {{sub|Cliffs}} above and behind offer some more recreation and relaxation space. A walkway leads to their {{sub|Top}}.

In the {{sub|Thrift Store}} one can find freebies for newbies and members and also a selection of several products of the creatives of the members can be found. On the 1st floor several of the residential sims around the beach on the continent offer their rentable spaces.

The Mission Beach is the engine and the primal cell that makes the New Pride Land continent work and stick together since over two years now sucessfully

Mission Sea Promenade

== The Build ==

Mission Sea Promenade was an extension to the [[Mission Beach]] to support the Mission Bros. group with an exclusive area of carefully picked shops and a central meeting and event point in the centre pavilion. It had a continuance once in the [[Mission-Super-Mare]] Docklands area.

Like the Docklands area, the Sea Promenade was a nonprofit creation by Lauritz Larsson Architects.

This is the second commercial spot added right after the [[Mission Sea Promenade]]. It is themed historic builds - european village style.
The Docklands in the East with historical hanseatic builds and some newer parts too, also with a small container harbor & crane in the south and a canned fish factory in the north.
The impressive town council building from the hanseatic era can be found in the centre.

While you are now looking to the west of the sim you see small quay area for the townhouse village residents and the village right behind it... footing the Chateau winery in the centre of the sim and the chateau in the north, on the top of the vineyards hill

The Docklands and the Chateau were nonprofit creations by ''Lauritz Larsson Architects'' for the ambience of the NPL (new pride land) continent.

The sim is being closed due to reconstruction of the continent in mid july '09

The central island called '''''Pallas''''', carries a restoration site of an old, lutheran abbey ruin, where the ''Lauritz Larsson Architecture Bureau'' has its headquarters now - that is where the New PrideLand continent architects of ''Lauritz Larsson Architecture'' show some of their skills and buyable creations. They do mainly custom projects from small parcels to whole continents but a few of the creations are also available in the vendors, though rather the smaller objects like housings, deco and plants. Some of the larger projects were the Costa Rica continent Waterfalls, the Yalta sims, the ER Waterworlds or the Mission Projects like [[Mission Beach]], [[Mission Sea Promenade]], [[Mission-Super-Mare]]...

The abbey itself was founded ages ago as a lutheran monkhouse on an artificial island. Originally surrounded by huge defense walls against pirates and other enemies, the huge outer walls are dismantled now, only a part of the smaller inner walls remained, also most of the vegetable gardens and adjoining buildings are gone. The scriptorium was still almost intact, while the refectory is to be restored. The dormitory and barns will not be restored. Some decent green, fountains and plant beds can be found here nowadays. Walkways lead the visitor around the place. A small dock allows to park boats here temporarily. A free scuba gear dispenser is placed at the dock to explore the underwater area. The whole island is carefully designed to appear rather as a relaxation spot inviting to rest and chill.

The second island in the southwest is named Karatikus. It has semi-private residential character. As long as you dont see any banlines, it is open to public. It has a little beach and some rocks in the backyard. A small fall creates a stream that heads for the ocean. An old ferry stopping randomly at the little dock connects the island with the abbey. (7S) Fishing can be done here, also scuba diving is possible. A free dispenser can be found at the dockingplace of the Abbey Island.. A deserted naval surveillance installation is now used as residential / hangout spot.

Fabrice Snook launched Pandore, the first sim in the Gay Archipelago, in May, 2007, as a friendly gay village (today it is a shopping sim). Fabrice then opened Gay France, in July 2007, then Oboulaba, a babylonian themed sim. Oboulaba is now called Chilipepper with shopping, residences and clubs.

In 2008, Sasha Laval, owner of Gay Zone Estate, and Fabrice decided to connect their 7 sims in a new area on the SL grid. Later that year, Badpuppy and Citegay, two sims linked to well-known gay Internet portals in USA and France, joined them.

The continent continued to grow with Gay Europe, Gay Japan, Toozepolis and other new sims. Sascha Laval launched Gay Zone Atlantis, Gay Zone Neptunia, DJ World and Aqua Lounge.

As the Archipelago grew, the emphasis was on cooperation, coordination and unity beginning with Gay France and later with Gay Europe. Today, "SL Gay Cooperation" is today a non-open group that manages the new Gay Europe sim, an openspace that connects the German and French regions.

Also in 2008, IGBC Gay Rehoboth, Jameson Architects, Ferik Island, and Flag Factory opened in the Archipelago. That year, the Gay Archipelago was not more only focused on european range, and GA has choosen to be the first sponsor of the Second Pride Festival in June.

At the beginning of 2009 and after the Lindens’ decision to increase the fees by 66%, many homesteads were closed. At this time, the virtual worlds did not appear so attractive to many professionals and CiteGAY closed its sim as well. Fabrice left SL for several months because of Real Life (RL) commitments. Upon his return, he found that the cluster had decreased to just 8 sims. But with the continued effort of Fabrice and others, Gay Europe was revived and IGBC extended its domain with new sims connected to Pandore. Oiswiss Decuir, owner of Gay Fun World, joined what was now called the Gay Archipelago. Later in 2009, Dom Bamatter, owner of Pure Indulgence Estate, joined the group - today Dom Bamatter is the greatest land owner in GA -, and Arnel Choche’s Crazy Garden was opened.

In autumn of 2009, discussions began with the new Board of Second Pride to define common goals.

By the end of 2009, the Gay Archipelago had 34 sims. Its first winter Festival, The Gay Archipelago Days was held from December 12th thru 19th with many events and attractions on each sim. The festival ended with a contest for the first Mister Gay 2010. Ardaric Larsson was the winner and all celebrated with a grand party.

At the beginning of 2010, Marcus Steeplechase and Philip Eubanks, owners of Warehouse Plaza and a group of 5 sims, joined the Gay Archipelago. They dedicated one of their sims, Pride, for the site of the proposed Gateway and Welcome Center for LGBT people entering Second Life. The sim is located in the middle of the Archipelago and completion of the gateway and a GA and Second Pride Committee administrative builing is scheduled for mid 2010.

In January of 2010, Linden Lab offered to move all sims in the Gay Archipelago to a new, empty area of the grid, favorable for expansion and unencumbered by neighboring sims with no connection to the GA. Linden Lab also facilitated the moving of sims to join Gay Archipelago: Pillars of Hercules, Vulcania, Lothlorian, Gay Italy Friends and Romanum. The move took place on January 12, 2010.

With the expansion planned in the next months, the Gay Archipelago will include approximately 100 LGBT sims. The Gay Archipelago encourages diversity of location of gay sims throughout SL and has never desired to be the only location for LGBT sims. It exists only to enhance the Gay Archipelago Way of Life: opportunities to meet, to share, to learn, to support talent, to have fun, relax, and build a great continent with many links to all of SL and to Real Life as well.

In the first quarter of 2010, the Gay Archipelago is launching its first Council organization. This first Council will be chaired by Fabrice Snook who will be Chairman for a temporary period (until June, 2010). The immediate tasks of the Council will be to provide liaison between Linden Labs and the Gay Archipelago, to work with the Second Pride Committee, and to be useful and efficient for the owners, residents, merchants and visitors to the Gay Archipelago.

The scriptorium was still almost intact, while the refectory is to be restored. The dormitory and barns will not be restored. Some decent green, fountains and plant beds can be found here nowadays. Walkways lead the visitor around the place. A small dock allows to park boats here temporarily. A free scuba gear dispenser is placed at the dock to explore the underwater area. The whole island is carefully designed to appear rather as a relaxation spot inviting to rest and chill.

The second island in the southwest is named Karatikus. It has semi-private residential character. As long as you dont see any banlines, it is open to public. It has a little beach and some rocks in the backyard. A small fall creates a stream that heads for the ocean. An old ferry stopping randomly at the little dock connects the island with the abbey. (7S) Fishing can be done here, also scuba diving is possible. A free dispenser can be found at the dockingplace of the Abbey Island.. A deserted naval surveillance installation is now used as residential / hangout spot.

The central island called Pallas, carries a restoration site of an old, lutheran abbey ruin, where the ''Lauritz Larsson Architecture Bureau'' has its headquarters now - that is where the New PrideLand continent architects of ''Lauritz Larsson Architecture'' show some of their skills and buyable creations. They do mainly custom projects from small parcels to whole continents but a few of the creations are also available in the vendors, though rather the smaller objects like housings, deco and plants. Fabrice Snook launched Pandore, the first sim in the Gay Archipelago, in May, 2007, as a friendly gay village (today it is a shopping sim). Fabrice then opened Gay France, in July 2007, then Oboulaba, a babylonian themed sim. Oboulaba is now called Chilipepper with shopping, residences and clubs.

In 2008, Sasha Laval, owner of Gay Zone Estate, and Fabrice decided to connect their 7 sims in a new area on the SL grid. Later that year, Badpuppy and Citegay, two sims linked to well-known gay Internet portals in USA and France, joined them.

The continent continued to grow with Gay Europe, Gay Japan, Toozepolis and other new sims. Sascha Laval launched Gay Zone Atlantis, Gay Zone Neptunia, DJ World and Aqua Lounge.

As the Archipelago grew, the emphasis was on cooperation, coordination and unity beginning with Gay France and later with Gay Europe. Today, "SL Gay Cooperation" is today a non-open group that manages the new Gay Europe sim, an openspace that connects the German and French regions.

Also in 2008, IGBC Gay Rehoboth, Jameson Architects, Ferik Island, and Flag Factory opened in the Archipelago. That year, the Gay Archipelago was not more only focused on european range, and GA has choosen to be the first sponsor of the Second Pride Festival in June.

At the beginning of 2009 and after the Lindens’ decision to increase the fees by 66%, many homesteads were closed. At this time, the virtual worlds did not appear so attractive to many professionals and CiteGAY closed its sim as well. Fabrice left SL for several months because of Real Life (RL) commitments. Upon his return, he found that the cluster had decreased to just 8 sims. But with the continued effort of Fabrice and others, Gay Europe was revived and IGBC extended its domain with new sims connected to Pandore. Oiswiss Decuir, owner of Gay Fun World, joined what was now called the Gay Archipelago. Later in 2009, Dom Bamatter, owner of Pure Indulgence Estate, joined the group - today Dom Bamatter is the greatest land owner in GA -, and Arnel Choche’s Crazy Garden was opened.

In autumn of 2009, discussions began with the new Board of Second Pride to define common goals.

By the end of 2009, the Gay Archipelago had 34 sims. Its first winter Festival, The Gay Archipelago Days was held from December 12th thru 19th with many events and attractions on each sim. The festival ended with a contest for the first Mister Gay 2010. Ardaric Larsson was the winner and all celebrated with a grand party.

At the beginning of 2010, Marcus Steeplechase and Philip Eubanks, owners of Warehouse Plaza and a group of 5 sims, joined the Gay Archipelago. They dedicated one of their sims, Pride, for the site of the proposed Gateway and Welcome Center for LGBT people entering Second Life. The sim is located in the middle of the Archipelago and completion of the gateway and a GA and Second Pride Committee administrative builing is scheduled for mid 2010.

In January of 2010, Linden Lab offered to move all sims in the Gay Archipelago to a new, empty area of the grid, favorable for expansion and unencumbered by neighboring sims with no connection to the GA. Linden Lab also facilitated the moving of sims to join Gay Archipelago: Pillars of Hercules, Vulcania, Lothlorian, Gay Italy Friends and Romanum. The move took place on January 12, 2010.

With the expansion planned in the next months, the Gay Archipelago will include approximately 100 LGBT sims. The Gay Archipelago encourages diversity of location of gay sims throughout SL and has never desired to be the only location for LGBT sims. It exists only to enhance the Gay Archipelago Way of Life: opportunities to meet, to share, to learn, to support talent, to have fun, relax, and build a great continent with many links to all of SL and to Real Life as well.

In the first quarter of 2010, the Gay Archipelago is launching its first Council organization. This first Council will be chaired by Fabrice Snook who will be Chairman for a temporary period (until June, 2010). The immediate tasks of the Council will be to provide liaison between Linden Labs and the Gay Archipelago, to work with the Second Pride Committee, and to be useful and efficient for the owners, residents, merchants and visitors to the Gay Archipelago.

Fabrice Snook launched Pandore, the first sim in the Gay Archipelago, in May, 2007, as a friendly gay village (today it is a shopping sim). Fabrice then opened Gay France, in July 2007, then Oboulaba, a babylonian themed sim. Oboulaba is now called Chilipepper with shopping, residences and clubs.

In 2008, Sasha Laval, owner of Gay Zone Estate, and Fabrice decided to connect their 7 sims in a new area on the SL grid. Later that year, Badpuppy and Citegay, two sims linked to well-known gay Internet portals in USA and France, joined them.

The continent continued to grow with Gay Europe, Gay Japan, Toozepolis and other new sims. Sascha Laval launched Gay Zone Atlantis, Gay Zone Neptunia, DJ World and Aqua Lounge.

As the Archipelago grew, the emphasis was on cooperation, coordination and unity beginning with Gay France and later with Gay Europe. Today, "SL Gay Cooperation" is today a non-open group that manages the new Gay Europe sim, an openspace that connects the German and French regions.

Also in 2008, IGBC Gay Rehoboth, Jameson Architects, Ferik Island, and Flag Factory opened in the Archipelago. That year, the Gay Archipelago was not more only focused on european range, and GA has choosen to be the first sponsor of the Second Pride Festival in June.

At the beginning of 2009 and after the Lindens’ decision to increase the fees by 66%, many homesteads were closed. At this time, the virtual worlds did not appear so attractive to many professionals and CiteGAY closed its sim as well. Fabrice left SL for several months because of Real Life (RL) commitments. Upon his return, he found that the cluster had decreased to just 8 sims. But with the continued effort of Fabrice and others, Gay Europe was revived and IGBC extended its domain with new sims connected to Pandore. Oiswiss Decuir, owner of Gay Fun World, joined what was now called the Gay Archipelago. Later in 2009, Dom Bamatter, owner of Pure Indulgence Estate, joined the group - today Dom Bamatter is the greatest land owner in GA -, and Arnel Choche’s Crazy Garden was opened.

In autumn of 2009, discussions began with the new Board of Second Pride to define common goals.

By the end of 2009, the Gay Archipelago had 34 sims. Its first winter Festival, The Gay Archipelago Days was held from December 12th thru 19th with many events and attractions on each sim. The festival ended with a contest for the first Mister Gay 2010. Ardaric Larsson was the winner and all celebrated with a grand party.

At the beginning of 2010, Marcus Steeplechase and Philip Eubanks, owners of Warehouse Plaza and a group of 5 sims, joined the Gay Archipelago. They dedicated one of their sims, Pride, for the site of the proposed Gateway and Welcome Center for LGBT people entering Second Life. The sim is located in the middle of the Archipelago and completion of the gateway and a GA and Second Pride Committee administrative builing is scheduled for mid 2010.

In January of 2010, Linden Lab offered to move all sims in the Gay Archipelago to a new, empty area of the grid, favorable for expansion and unencumbered by neighboring sims with no connection to the GA. Linden Lab also facilitated the moving of sims to join Gay Archipelago: Pillars of Hercules, Vulcania, Lothlorian, Gay Italy Friends and Romanum. The move took place on January 12, 2010.

With the expansion planned in the next months, the Gay Archipelago will include approximately 100 LGBT sims. The Gay Archipelago encourages diversity of location of gay sims throughout SL and has never desired to be the only location for LGBT sims. It exists only to enhance the Gay Archipelago Way of Life: opportunities to meet, to share, to learn, to support talent, to have fun, relax, and build a great continent with many links to all of SL and to Real Life as well.

In the first quarter of 2010, the Gay Archipelago is launching its first Council organization. This first Council will be chaired by Fabrice Snook who will be Chairman for a temporary period (until June, 2010). The immediate tasks of the Council will be to provide liaison between Linden Labs and the Gay Archipelago, to work with the Second Pride Committee, and to be useful and efficient for the owners, residents, merchants and visitors to the Gay Archipelago.

The continent continued to grow with Gay Europe, Gay Japan, Toozepolis and other new sims. Sascha Laval launched Gay Zone Atlantis, Gay Zone Neptunia, DJ World and Aqua Lounge.

As the Archipelago grew, the emphasis was on cooperation, coordination and unity beginning with Gay France and later with Gay Europe. Today, "SL Gay Cooperation" is today a non-open group that manages the new Gay Europe sim, an openspace that connects the German and French regions.

Also in 2008, IGBC Gay Rehoboth, Jameson Architects, Ferik Island, and Flag Factory opened in the Archipelago. That year, the Gay Archipelago was not more only focused on european range, and GA has choosen to be the first sponsor of the Second Pride Festival in June.

At the beginning of 2009 and after the Lindens’ decision to increase the fees by 66%, many homesteads were closed. At this time, the virtual worlds did not appear so attractive to many professionals and CiteGAY closed its sim as well. Fabrice left SL for several months because of Real Life (RL) commitments. Upon his return, he found that the cluster had decreased to just 8 sims. But with the continued effort of Fabrice and others, Gay Europe was revived and IGBC extended its domain with new sims connected to Pandore. Oiswiss Decuir, owner of Gay Fun World, joined what was now called the Gay Archipelago. Later in 2009, Dom Bamatter, owner of Pure Indulgence Estate, joined the group - today Dom Bamatter is the greatest land owner in GA -, and Arnel Choche’s Crazy Garden was opened.

In autumn of 2009, discussions began with the new Board of Second Pride to define common goals.

By the end of 2009, the Gay Archipelago had 34 sims. Its first winter Festival, The Gay Archipelago Days was held from December 12th thru 19th with many events and attractions on each sim. The festival ended with a contest for the first Mister Gay 2010. Ardaric Larsson was the winner and all celebrated with a grand party.

At the beginning of 2010, Marcus Steeplechase and Philip Eubanks, owners of Warehouse Plaza and a group of 5 sims, joined the Gay Archipelago. They dedicated one of their sims, Pride, for the site of the proposed Gateway and Welcome Center for LGBT people entering Second Life. The sim is located in the middle of the Archipelago and completion of the gateway and a GA and Second Pride Committee administrative builing is scheduled for mid 2010.

In January of 2010, Linden Lab offered to move all sims in the Gay Archipelago to a new, empty area of the grid, favorable for expansion and unencumbered by neighboring sims with no connection to the GA. Linden Lab also facilitated the moving of sims to join Gay Archipelago: Pillars of Hercules, Vulcania, Lothlorian, Gay Italy Friends and Romanum. The move took place on January 12, 2010.

With the expansion planned in the next months, the Gay Archipelago will include approximately 100 LGBT sims. The Gay Archipelago encourages diversity of location of gay sims throughout SL and has never desired to be the only location for LGBT sims. It exists only to enhance the Gay Archipelago Way of Life: opportunities to meet, to share, to learn, to support talent, to have fun, relax, and build a great continent with many links to all of SL and to Real Life as well.

In the first quarter of 2010, the Gay Archipelago is launching its first Council organization. This first Council will be chaired by Fabrice Snook who will be Chairman for a temporary period (until June, 2010). The immediate tasks of the Council will be to provide liaison between Linden Labs and the Gay Archipelago, to work with the Second Pride Committee, and to be useful and efficient for the owners, residents, merchants and visitors to the Gay Archipelago.

Fabrice Snook launched Pandore, the first sim in the Gay Archipelago, in May, 2007, as a friendly gay village (today it is a shopping sim). Fabrice then opened Gay France, in July 2007, then Oboulaba, a babylonian themed sim. Oboulaba is now called Chilipepper with shopping, residences and clubs.

Like every island of the estate, the sim gets his name from a male lover of Herakles (Hercules in Latin). Hylas was a young man favorite and companion of Herakles. During the argonaut expedition, in Cios, he was sent to fetch water in the spring. He died dragged down the water by nimphs while dipping his pitcher. Herakles cried his name in vain.

Hylas is a mature residential sim with moderate commercial activities. The sim's theme is Old Greece.

The Corinthia region is home to the Russian River Mall and Hunter's Gay Club, two new additions to the [[New Pride Land]] area on October 30, 2009. It was founded by Skip Dawes and Alyx Nightfire, alongside their Russian River Rentals homes regions, Achaea and Argolis.

While still new, Russian River Mall aims to offer a full shopping experience to SL and New Pride Land's LGBT communities. With space for 60 mall stores, we're aiming to be the biggest gay mall in Second Life.

Hunter's is our club, offering dancing to live DJs four nights a week: Wednesday and Friday through Sunday, with DJs Syriana Paine, Dex Bouchers, Laius Mistwallow and Treat Kanto.

The main attraction is for sure the Treasure Island Jungle in the sim centre.

Spice Islands was always a busy and creative place, so it has hosted quite some builds and places in the past as [[Mission Sea Promenade]] or another example the [[Mission-Super-Mare]] Docklands and also the [[Mission Brothers Gay Beach]].

Abderos is part of the Pillars of Herakles Estate. The estate is part of New Pride Land.

Like every island of the estate, the sim gets his name from a male lover of Herakles (Hercules in Latin). Abderos was son of Hermes. He was a lover and companion of Herakles in the 12 labors of the greek hero. The eighth labor consisted for Herakles to fetch the man-eating mares from King Diomedes of Bistonia, a thracian tribe. After he captured the mares, the Bistonians attacked the camp and Herakles enthrusted the mares to Abderos. He was dragged around and devoured by them while Herakles fighted and killed the King. According to other sources Herakles captured the King and fed Diomedes to the beasts.

Abderos is a mature residential sim. It is made of 3 residential islands. It is a homestead sim.

== Transportation in New Pride Land ==

At one time, a [[New Pride Land Ferry Schedule|ferry service]], operated by [[MASONLines]] on behalf of [[The Port Authority of New Pride Land]], connected the various islands making up the Continent.

The central island called Pallas, carries a restoration site of an old, lutheran abbey ruin, where the ''Lauritz Larsson Architecture Bureau'' has its headquarters now - that is where the New PrideLand continent architects of ''Lauritz Larsson Architecture'' show some of their skills and buyable creations. They do mainly custom projects from small parcels to whole continents but a few of the creations are also available in the vendors, though rather the smaller objects like housings, deco and plants. Some of the larger projects were the Costa Rica continent Waterfalls, the Yalta sims, the ER Waterworlds or the Mission Projects like Mission Beach, Mission Sea Promenade, Mission-super-Mare...

The abbey itself was founded ages ago as a lutheran monkhouse on an artificial island. Originally surrounded by huge defense walls against pirates and other enemies, the huge outer walls are dismantled now, only a part of the smaller inner walls remained, also most of the vegetable gardens and adjoining buildings are gone. The scriptorium was still almost intact, while the refectory is to be restored. The dormitory and barns will not be restored. Some decent green, fountains and plant beds can be found here nowadays. Walkways lead the visitor around the place. A small dock allows to park boats here temporarily. A free scuba gear dispenser is placed at the dock to explore the underwater area. The whole island is carefully designed to appear rather as a relaxation spot inviting to rest and chill.

The second island in the southwest is named Karatikus. It has semi-private residential character. As long as you dont see any banlines, it is open to public. It has a little beach and some rocks in the backyard. A small fall creates a stream that heads for the ocean. An old ferry stopping randomly at the little dock connects the island with the abbey. (7S) Fishing can be done here, also scuba diving is possible. A free dispenser can be found at the dockingplace of the Abbey Island.. A deserted naval surveillance installation is now used as residential / hangout spot.

The last island, located in the northeast is named Hephaestus. Some relicts from old wars can be found here. A foghorn warns the ships to come close... old ammo and mines might be still active and dangerous... a shipwreck in the southeast is the result of too carefree captain... bad luck for him.

In these areas the land is for sale. In the center of the sim under water level there is an aquadome that can be accessed through the public teleporter serving all places on the sim. This teleporter is just on the main teleporting spot for the sim.

Hylas has a party beach, with parties every month or more.
