- [15:01] Oskar Linden: well let's get this meeting started
- [15:01] Oskar Linden: :-D
- [15:01] Donlad Avro: Techwolf, [1]
- [15:01] Oskar Linden: so how is everybody?
- [15:02] SHAMUS Carter: good god you?
- [15:02] Kitto Flora: Stuck :/
- [15:02] Another Hax: excellent, same on your side i hope
- [15:02] Oskar Linden: if you're happy and you know it clap your hands
- [15:02] Ima Mechanique: well thank you, how are you ;-)
- [15:02] Oskar Linden: :-p
- [15:02] xstorm Radek: feeling great ty
- [15:02] Donlad Avro: claps his hands
- [15:02] Malarthi Behemoth: claps
- [15:02] SHAMUS Carter: *:-.,_,.-:*'``'*Yayyyyyyy!!!!*:-.,_,.-:*'``'*
- [15:02] Oskar Linden: maestro didn't clap
- [15:02] SHAMUS Carter: eeps.
- [15:02] Maestro Linden: my hands are busy
- [15:02] Oskar Linden: oh dear
- [15:02] Donlad Avro: lmao i can only imagine with what
- [15:03] Oskar Linden: well this has been an exhausting week at Linden
- [15:03] xstorm Radek: ??? do we ask what lol
- [15:03] Oskar Linden: where do I start
- [15:03] Gooden Uggla: ...Way to go...
- [15:03] Oskar Linden: a project included in 1.40 hasn't really baked yet
- [15:03] Oskar Linden: *sadface*
- [15:03] Oskar Linden: and keeps getting changed
- [15:03] Sigma Avro: start with when ?
- [15:03] Gooden Uggla: oh geez...
- [15:03] xstorm Radek: aw :-(
- [15:03] SHAMUS Carter: awww
- [15:03] Oskar Linden: so we roll with the punches
- [15:04] Oskar Linden: we also determined that 1.40 testing wasn't going to get done by end of week
- [15:04] Oskar Linden: we have been really down on resources internally this week
- [15:04] Oskar Linden: there is just too much to do in too little time
- [15:04] Oskar Linden: so we're giving ourselves an extra week of QA
- [15:04] Oskar Linden: that's good
- [15:04] Malarthi Behemoth: Moar QA is always better
- [15:05] Oskar Linden: it'll give you guys more time to poke at stuff and get things ready
- [15:05] SHAMUS Carter: Yus !
- [15:05] SHAMUS Carter: expicly with SVC-5805 still not fixed
- [15:05] Oskar Linden: Monty has been code reviewing like a rockstar
- [15:05] Monty Linden: eyes failing....
- [15:05] xstorm Radek: How much poking do we need to do ?
- [15:05] Oskar Linden: that doesn't necessarily mean cocaine and vodka
- [15:05] Oskar Linden: he just rocks
- [15:05] Monty Linden: havok7 havok7!!
- [15:05] Oskar Linden: he found some bad stuff this weekend
- [15:05] Moundsa Mayo: But he needs his vitamins!
- [15:05] SHAMUS Carter: h7 whee
- [15:06] Oskar Linden: monty want to talk about the stuff you found?
- [15:06] Monty Linden: It's probably scary...
- [15:06] Oskar Linden: campfire stories with Uncle Monty
- [15:06] Malarthi Behemoth: We eat scary for breakfast :o
- [15:06] SHAMUS Carter: covers his eyes
- [15:06] Ima Mechanique: that's ok, we're grown ups ;-)
- [15:06] Monty Linden: We were changing the processing order when doing region crossings...
- [15:06] Sigma Avro: great
- [15:06] Oskar Linden: ... and then he traced the killers IP back to the 192.168/16 block
- [15:06] Oskar Linden: screams
- [15:06] Monty Linden: Improved things for people watching, not so for the crosser
- [15:06] Monty Linden: but have threading problems.
- [15:06] Malarthi Behemoth: He's still using IPv4?!?!
- [15:07] Faust Vollmar: Sorry I'm late. ;v
- [15:07] Drew Dwi: ipv9 is the only way to go
- [15:07] Veron Helstein: so simcrossing wont cause so much lag anymore?
- [15:07] ANSI Soderstrom: 9 ?
- [15:07] Gooden Uggla: SVC-5805 breaks an awful lot of content...
- [15:07] Monty Linden: that was the idea but will be delayed. Not in 1.40
- [15:07] xstorm Radek: did the multi treads get killed ?
- [15:07] Veron Helstein: ah ok
- [15:07] Monty Linden: Looking like 1.40.x or 1.42 but no promises yet...
- [15:07] Veron Helstein: but good to know your on it
- [15:08] Gooden Uggla: so after tcmalloc that would be easier to implement?
- [15:08] Drew Dwi: ANSI - [2]
- [15:08] Monty Linden: before or after, this just needed someone to look at the code with a critical eye
- [15:08] ANSI Soderstrom: tnx drew
- [15:08] Oskar Linden: so we disabled that piece
- [15:09] Veron Helstein: if you could do something to throttle upload traffic when avi is moving would be great ... it really maxes out my line and ping jumps to unplayable values
- [15:09] Gooden Uggla: so what else in 1.40 needs a critical eye and a poke?
- [15:09] Oskar Linden: you were telling me about that Veron
- [15:09] Kitto Flora: Prefs/Network/Max BW setting
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: I added the notes from last week here: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Beta_Server/1.40#New_Features
- [15:10] Veron Helstein: yes Oskar :)
- [15:10] Monty Linden: *Do* exercise region crossings where you can.
- [15:10] Flight bracelet: Vola oltre 300m: All Go
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: monty do you have the 1.40 qar filter :-p
- [15:10] SHAMUS Carter: 5808
- [15:10] Oskar Linden: I forgot where I put it
- [15:10] SHAMUS Carter: oop SVC-5808
- [15:10] Monty Linden: I don't have the filter up.
- [15:10] Monty Linden: Wrong machine, not sharing bookmarks. Grrrr
- [15:11] Gooden Uggla: that's why i have my skates on, rail grinding the sim crossings :)
- [15:11] Kitto Flora: I'd love to exercise border crossings. Sady the region imported for the job is unusable.
- [15:11] Monty Linden: careful, we've introduced a faceplant AO...
- [15:11] Gooden Uggla: does someone please have a jira helper they can lay down?
- [15:11] Gooden Uggla: is lazy
- [15:11] SHAMUS Carter: ohh?
- [15:12] Connected undefined:
- [15:12] xstorm Radek: faceplant AO ?
- [15:12] Oskar Linden: kitto there are plenty of regions here
- [15:12] Monty Linden: :)
- [15:12] ANSI Soderstrom: morris is mine
- [15:12] ANSI Soderstrom: :)
- [15:12] Monty Linden: Have people been playing with HTTP textures?
- [15:12] xstorm Radek: i stay in me sim
- [15:12] Gooden Uggla: ansi then put out a jira-helper :P
- [15:12] ANSI Soderstrom: grml
- [15:13] xstorm Radek: Monty the HTTP textures crash me
- [15:13] Monty Linden: mmmm
- [15:13] Gooden Uggla: i've been running it in snowglobe
- [15:13] Maestro Linden: which viewer, xstorm?
- [15:13] SHAMUS Carter: http textures seam to work for me
- [15:13] Donlad Avro: I have no trouble with HTTP texture use on aditi
- [15:13] Latif Khalifa: Monty, viewer is not really http textures proof
- [15:13] xstorm Radek: Viewer 2
- [15:13] Oskar Linden: proof?
- [15:13] Monty Linden: I understand... (about v2)
- [15:14] Latif Khalifa: it crashy
- [15:14] Maestro Linden: had some crashes in the 2.0.1 release viewer, and had to switch to a newer nightly viewer to test HTTP Textures properly
- [15:14] Sigma Avro: this link [3] on [4] is broken
- [15:14] Monty Linden: I'll check the viewer crash data and see if that's coming in...
- [15:14] Latif Khalifa: it's*
- [15:14] ANSI Soderstrom: SVC-5808 : Single prim turns non phantom after sit. : [5]
- [15:14] Oskar Linden: it is broken sigma
- [15:14] Oskar Linden: I know
- [15:14] Latif Khalifa: snoglobe 1.x too, it has some fatal bugs with http textures
- [15:14] Oskar Linden: we have a new place for that to go
- [15:14] Oskar Linden: but haven't had a time to fix it
- [15:15] Oskar Linden: too many emergencies :-/
- [15:15] Sigma Avro: ok
- [15:15] Donlad Avro: Are HTTP textures not all the way implemented into V2 or Snowglobe 1.3 ?
- [15:15] Gooden Uggla: whoa, that's a bad 'un
- [15:15] Latif Khalifa: they are, just not stable donald
- [15:15] Latif Khalifa: snowglobe 1.3 is dying on me with [6]
- [15:16] Latif Khalifa: but as far as i can tell all of those are viewer bug, sim side seems to be working ok
- [15:16] SHAMUS Carter: Touching an unscripted child prim does not trigger a touch event in the object's root prim [7]
- [15:16] Gooden Uggla: 1.3.1 snowglobe runs them ok, has some weird geometry popping up sometimes tho
- [15:16] Donlad Avro: I don't have stability issues with Emerald 1.3.2.1973 with HTTP textures enabled but I also don't notice any performance increase
- [15:16] Sigma Avro: Not a bug, but inventory transfer from agni to aditi is somewath "on demand". Not easy when developing
- [15:17] ANSI Soderstrom: o.O @ shamus
- [15:17] Oskar Linden: huh?
- [15:17] xstorm Radek: if i go to Develop and click on HTTP textures i crash every time
- [15:17] Latif Khalifa: Maestro, btw. i notice UploadBakedTextures was enabled on aditi
- [15:17] SHAMUS Carter: 0.o
- [15:18] Opensource Obscure: xstorm: me too.
- [15:18] Sigma Avro: Shamus's bug is linked to collission pass programmed implemetations, seems to me
- [15:18] Maestro Linden: hm, I'll check but I think that should be disabled, Latif
- [15:18] Opensource Obscure: maestro: yeah, disabled by default.
- [15:18] xstorm Radek: i think Open and me are out dated lol
- [15:19] WolfPup Lowenhar: im running a current(as of last night) of SG V2 and have switched to http textures and seem to be doing fine right now
- [15:19] Monty Linden: admits he's still running 1.23 :-)
- [15:19] Oskar Linden: is still on 1.23
- [15:19] Oskar Linden: :-D
- [15:19] Latif Khalifa: Meastro, they are still enabled here
- [15:19] Maestro Linden: Latif: good call, i see it's not disabled in the default config for 1.40. I'll ask the dev what's up
- [15:19] SHAMUS Carter: yah 1.23 is still better then 2.0
- [15:19] Latif Khalifa: i'm on 1.23 too ;)
- [15:19] xstorm Radek: OMG!!
- [15:19] Donlad Avro: Can somebody point me to a Wiki page that has instructions for downloading updated SVN releases and compiling them?
- [15:19] Malarthi Behemoth: is on 2.0 because it's pined to the start menu D:
- [15:20] Monty Linden: hehe
- [15:20] Latif Khalifa: Maestro, shoot, don't i love them :P
- [15:20] WolfPup Lowenhar: Snowglobe 2.0.1 (0) May 20 2010 00:11:51 (Snowglobe Test Build)
- [15:20] xstorm Radek: im going to slap some one lol
- [15:20] Latif Khalifa: should have kept his mouth shut :P
- [15:20] Latif Khalifa: and this sim has over 1000 pending downloads lol
- [15:20] SHAMUS Carter: would be nice if the more desirable features of 2.0 were back ported to the stable 1.23
- [15:20] xstorm Radek: so out dated
- [15:21] Donlad Avro: SHAMUS, emerald is doing that :p
- [15:21] ANSI Soderstrom: o.O
- [15:21] Malarthi Behemoth: What Donlad said.
- [15:21] ANSI Soderstrom: emerald is history in future
- [15:21] WolfPup Lowenhar: if your doing it in windows go here https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Viewer_2_Microsoft_Windows_Builds
- [15:21] Sigma Avro: emerald is agreed 3th party, so...
- [15:21] xstorm Radek: LL Viewer 2 is the way to go
- [15:21] Latif Khalifa: emarald is mostly taking other people's patches and integrating them ;)
- [15:21] Malarthi Behemoth: I'm pretty sure the new growl IM stuff is all them
- [15:22] xstorm Radek: Second Life 2.0.1 (203872) Apr 22 2010 10:23:40 (Second Life Beta Viewer)
- [15:22] Gooden Uggla: SVC-5805 breaks a LOT of games and vendors... rolling that onto the grid will make bunnycide look small-time...
- [15:22] Faust Vollmar: isnt touching v2 till someone makes one that can optionally go back to the 1.23 interface
- [15:22] Faust Vollmar: Or is outright just the 1.23 one, either way
- [15:22] Donlad Avro: I love the Growl notification system lol
- [15:22] Maestro Linden: regarding SVC-5805, I spoke with Falcon today and he says he has a fix to try - the fixed version just hasn't been built and deployed yet
- [15:22] Oskar Linden: SVC-5805 is imported gooden
- [15:22] Sigma Avro: Is cause of SCV 5805 identified ?
- [15:23] Oskar Linden: working on it
- [15:23] Latif Khalifa: prolly changes to pass touches
- [15:23] Gooden Uggla: i figured it would be imported, just wanted a progress update
- [15:23] Maestro Linden: yeah, we think it's caused by the pass touches changes
- [15:23] Monty Linden: is trying to get xstorm's crashes out of our reporting... Battling our web app...
- [15:23] xstorm Radek: did the problem with Phantom prims get fix ?
- [15:24] Sigma Avro: what are the 1.40 deployment plans ? (once stable)
- [15:24] xstorm Radek: sorry about that crash problem
- [15:25] SHAMUS Carter: yes what are the new features that need 2.1
- [15:25] Oskar Linden: a few things
- [15:25] Faust Vollmar: inb4 pr says we cant say yet =v
- [15:25] Oskar Linden: I just can't tell you cuz they want it to be sekrit
- [15:25] Latif Khalifa: lol
- [15:25] Oskar Linden: it's not my call sorry
- [15:25] SHAMUS Carter: markiting department being sturbern still
- [15:26] Latif Khalifa: lemme guess, amanda? ;)
- [15:26] xstorm Radek: lol
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: sometimes I wish we would go with the Blizzard model and announce features 4 years before they are ready
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: but never give a ship date
- [15:26] Faust Vollmar: Sekrit features usually makes people assume the worst and they're really bad features. You should probably tell pr that. ;v
- [15:26] xstorm Radek: i have not seen amanda in ages
- [15:26] Oskar Linden: one of the features is cool imho
- [15:26] Gooden Uggla: oskar... the lab did that already,,, they're called "windlight" and "mono"...
- [15:26] Malarthi Behemoth: I hear sekrit and alarm bells start ringing.
- [15:26] Latif Khalifa: amanda seems to be the queen of sekrit projects at the lab
- [15:27] Jonathan Yap: Region-wide windlight? :)
- [15:27] SHAMUS Carter: probly the mesh suport finaly
- [15:27] Maestro Linden: xstorm, about SVC-5808: Single prim turns non phantom after sit., it looks like there's a tentative fix for that bug too
- [15:27] Latif Khalifa: Janathan, dream on ;)
- [15:27] Faust Vollmar: Just saying Oskar, sekrit makes people think "bad" not "good."
- [15:27] Sigma Avro: well, sure, if higly performant, better not to go wrong with dates
- [15:27] xstorm Radek: i do not blame her
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: well it's not mono or mesh afaik :-p
- [15:27] SHAMUS Carter: script limits?
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: sekrit just means someone has some plan to announce that I have no control over
- [15:27] Moundsa Mayo: Sales and property taxes.
- [15:27] Oskar Linden: the 'bad stuff' never gets mentioned at all
- [15:28] Gooden Uggla: if i had to guess, i'd say some of it has to do with SLmarketplace and adding advertising to the viewer sidebar
- [15:28] Oskar Linden: so when you hear sekrit assume good, and when you hear nothing assume bad :-p
- [15:28] Latif Khalifa: i'd be more afraid if they announced they "fixed" something, like the search got fixed lol
- [15:28] Sigma Avro: let big boss priviledge of big anoucements, we know !
- [15:28] Moundsa Mayo: Yah, like we fixed our dog ...
- [15:28] Faust Vollmar: Hahaha
- [15:28] xstorm Radek: i happen to like the name Second Life Market Place
- [15:29] SHAMUS Carter: slmp?
- [15:29] Faust Vollmar: Yeah Fixed is a two-edge word, it plays both ways and it's endlessly hilarious because of that.
- [15:29] xstorm Radek: and adding it to the inworld Side bar will be great
- [15:29] Faust Vollmar: really only cares wether or not the new sekrit features are scripting and/or physics related.
- [15:30] SHAMUS Carter: viewer side phsycs would be nice
- [15:30] Gooden Uggla: xstorm, i was talking about 2 different things, but yes, it'll be on the sidebar
- [15:30] Gooden Uggla: someday
- [15:30] Latif Khalifa: Faust, probably not, knowling lindens is something like facebook integration, or linkiging identities, or something else the new management finds interesting
- [15:30] Latif Khalifa: and none of sl users care about :P
- [15:30] Malarthi Behemoth: Are logins currently up for Aditi?
- [15:30] Faust Vollmar: ...I thought facebook doesn't allow "psuedo" itendities like sl avs.
- [15:30] Oskar Linden: :-)
- [15:30] Gooden Uggla: they don't faust, but that doesn't stop M from getting hard thinking about it
- [15:31] Oskar Linden: logins up?
- [15:31] xstorm Radek: if the market place was more inworld and have its own venders it make a lot of inworld people happy
- [15:31] Gooden Uggla: shuts up now
- [15:31] Malarthi Behemoth: Someone on Agni said they can't log in to Aditi, though they've been able to previously :/
- [15:31] Faust Vollmar: Mention of being unable to log in on the agni group
- [15:31] Faust Vollmar: Rex has been here before so its not an account thing
- [15:31] Jonathan Yap: Malarthi, maybe they have to use an old password
- [15:31] Gooden Uggla: tell them to try their passwords from 6 months ago
- [15:31] Oskar Linden: malarthi just tell them to IM me on agni
- [15:32] Oskar Linden: I can update their accounts
- [15:32] Gooden Uggla: err... what jonathon said
- [15:32] Malarthi Behemoth: somehow passed all that along.
- [15:32] Faust Vollmar: notes the person unable to log in was here at last week's office hour
- [15:32] Oskar Linden: weird
- [15:33] Malarthi Behemoth: Meanwhile, weren't we engaging in wild speculation?
- [15:33] Faust Vollmar: Yup. :D
- [15:33] SHAMUS Carter: Yus !
- [15:33] Faust Vollmar: There he is.
- [15:33] Malarthi Behemoth: And there's Rez.
- [15:33] Malarthi Behemoth: *rex
- [15:33] Rex Cronon: hi everybody
- [15:33] Gooden Uggla: anyone want a tinfoil hat? i made extras...
- [15:33] SHAMUS Carter: hehe
- [15:33] Gooden Uggla: hiya rex
- [15:33] Malarthi Behemoth: Gooden, can I have one for Woodstock?
- [15:33] Rex Cronon: i was trying to login for few minutes
- [15:34] xstorm Radek: lol
- [15:34] Oskar Linden: hey rex
- [15:34] xstorm Radek: hi Rex :-)
- [15:34] Another Hax: thats an urban myth.. they need to be copper
- [15:34] SHAMUS Carter: maby you where ghosted on aditi?
- [15:34] xstorm Radek: great to see you
- [15:34] Donlad Avro: is Viewer 2 ever gonna support coloring and/or showing what client a person is on in their nametag?
- [15:34] Monty Linden: xstorm: fyi, there's an interesting crash signature in the viewer db that looks promising. I'll look into it more later...
- [15:34] Rex Cronon: i finally had to enter a random sim name
- [15:34] Faust Vollmar: Lead hats are the best.
- [15:34] Rex Cronon: hiii...:)
- [15:34] xstorm Radek: thank you
- [15:34] SHAMUS Carter: Be Right Back!!
- [15:35] ANSI Soderstrom: hb
- [15:35] WolfPup Lowenhar: ok im back again
- [15:35] Sigma Avro: and vehicles, when unsited, are returned. Have not tried recently. It is a little strange
- [15:35] Oskar Linden: so we should be getting an updated version of server to aditi tomorrow-ish
- [15:35] xstorm Radek: im starting to see some thing very odd about what the rezzer is doing
- [15:35] Oskar Linden: so this weekend would be the best chance to find any new bugs
- [15:35] Malarthi Behemoth: Sigma, every vehicle every time?
- [15:35] Oskar Linden: so we have time to fix them next week
- [15:36] Sigma Avro: well, 3 consecuctive times, will check
- [15:36] Donlad Avro: what new features for the updated version, oskar?
- [15:36] xstorm Radek: im working on 2 others but they are no biggy
- [15:36] xstorm Radek: group some times is not loading
- [15:36] Oskar Linden: I'm just happy that everyones clothes rezzed this week
- [15:36] Oskar Linden: last week was ... interesting
- [15:36] xstorm Radek: lol
- [15:37] RINOBIT Footman: :)
- [15:37] Another Hax: always the ones i miss
- [15:37] Faust Vollmar: Hahaha
- [15:37] Jonathan Yap: Oskar, how many regions is the simulator running?
- [15:37] Techwolf Lupindo: oasker, has this grid been updated with the lastes 1.40 fixes? In other words, have the planned fixes been rolled into beta grid allready?
- [15:37] Latif Khalifa: at some time the sim had 1500 pending downloads, indicating it had trouble talking to the asset servers
- [15:37] Rex Cronon: i have a question about the center of mass for linked sets in havok 7
- [15:38] Rex Cronon: is the ceter of mass still going to be the root prim?
- [15:38] Sigma Avro: ?
- [15:38] Monty Linden: Latif: that kind of download list happens more often that I care to admit....
- [15:38] Oskar Linden: it always gets updated as soon as we have one to update it with
- [15:38] Oskar Linden: I would guess this simhost is running 4 regions
- [15:38] Monty Linden: something I've been looking at recently.
- [15:38] Gooden Uggla: the "interesting" part musta been deleting all those nude snaps from the asset servers...
- [15:39] Techwolf Lupindo: Ok. I just never seen any rolling restarts for this grid. :-)
- [15:39] Another Hax: having it the root prim would be desirable
- [15:39] xstorm Radek: lol
- [15:39] Sigma Avro: hehe
- [15:39] Oskar Linden: we update it all the time TL
- [15:39] xstorm Radek: needs to be the root prim
- [15:39] Oskar Linden: we just never announce it
- [15:39] Latif Khalifa: Monty, yeah, seen it quite often on agni sims as well
- [15:39] Rex Cronon: well. if u try to make mortar rounds is not really desirable
- [15:40] Oskar Linden: we occasionally are nice enough to say something first via godshout
- [15:40] Another Hax: you pick where the root prim is
- [15:40] xstorm Radek: Rex are you working with ammo ?
- [15:40] Rex Cronon: xstorm. yes. amont other things
- [15:40] Rex Cronon: among*
- [15:41] xstorm Radek: may i see that ammo some time ?
- [15:41] Donlad Avro: wants updated vehicle physics :-(
- [15:41] Faust Vollmar: AHaha projectiles is its own huge can of worms, I just recently figured out a way to kill a good chunk (but not enough) of the bounciness thing.
- [15:41] Jonathan Yap: Faust, was it you talking about arrows the other day?
- [15:41] Techwolf Lupindo: Godshout is good to do so if we are here, we can save any temp work.
- [15:41] Another Hax: an arrow stopping on que would be grand
- [15:41] Faust Vollmar: Nah, but the person who did reminded me to look into the matter myself
- [15:41] Oskar Linden: we do when we can tl
- [15:41] Oskar Linden: sometimes things just go down
- [15:42] Latif Khalifa: Another, just select it :P
- [15:42] Oskar Linden: I'll apologize now :-)
- [15:42] SHAMUS Carter: **:• I'm Back! What'd I Miss?? •:**
- [15:42] Monty Linden: In the past few weeks, someone mentioned a possible problem with an LSL function.
- [15:43] Gooden Uggla: :)
- [15:43] Monty Linden: I can't find it in my notes but wanted an update if anyone has anything....
- [15:43] Faust Vollmar: I do have to agree with the sentiment of wanting a STOP_ON_COLLISION or some other flag though, but no I wasn't the one trying to figure out how a proprietary bullet was emulating the feature.
- [15:43] Rex Cronon: it would be good if u can choose to have the center of mass the root prim, or to have it computed
- [15:43] Opensource Obscure: Monty: maybe Touching an unscripted child prim does not trigger a touch event in the object's root prim https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-5805 ?
- [15:44] xstorm Radek: Rex are you getting errors in how your ammo works ?
- [15:44] Sigma Avro: and relate to collision pass, same problem
- [15:44] Monty Linden: Don't think so (looked at that).
- [15:44] Monty Linden: (travelling kills my workflow... *sigh*)
- [15:44] Donlad Avro: stills thinks physics should be calculated client-side and not server-side.. would make for less lag?
- [15:44] Monty Linden: oh, well, next week.
- [15:44] Rex Cronon: i get no errors. is just that the mortar rounds fall wrong
- [15:45] xstorm Radek: thats a error i like to know more
- [15:45] Sigma Avro: I cant compute such physics with my lab top Donald
- [15:45] Malarthi Behemoth: needs to go forage for food in the harsh northlands
- [15:45] Malarthi Behemoth: Later all
- [15:46] Rex Cronon: tc
- [15:46] Donlad Avro: Would it be possible to offload a certain percentage of the physics computations to users?
- [15:46] Oskar Linden: I don't think there is anything planned anytime soon donald
- [15:46] Donlad Avro: Well it's prob been suggested a million times before
- [15:46] Donlad Avro: lol
- [15:47] SHAMUS Carter: pleas pleas please bring back dynami reflections ;-)
- [15:47] Rex Cronon: having my computer do some physics doesn't sound so bad, unless things start to lag
- [15:47] Kitto Flora: Donlad, you should go talk to Adrew Linden about physics, at one of his meets on Agni.
- [15:47] Latif Khalifa: you could improve dead reckoning so the rubberbanding effect when connection is not optimal is minimized, but the sim is the ultime authority on where thing are
- [15:47] Faust Vollmar: wonders what kind of exploits in bullet-based combat systems would peopup with clientside physics
- [15:47] Faust Vollmar: popup*
- [15:47] Donlad Avro: well perhaps make it an optional thing or even offload only what the computer isn't using
- [15:47] Jonathan Yap: I think you need the sim to do the physics, so everyone sees the same results of movement/collisions etc at the same time
- [15:48] WolfPup Lowenhar: i have an avatar that uses some physics as it shots fire/ice balls when im in mouce lock
- [15:48] Donlad Avro: Janathan, the now closed There.com didn't do server-side physics and everybody seen everything at the same time
- [15:48] Donlad Avro: Jonathan*, sorry
- [15:48] SHAMUS Carter: yah but there content was canned
- [15:49] Donlad Avro: and you got much better framerates at There.com than you do with SL, and the client computated physics
- [15:49] SHAMUS Carter: was it not?
- [15:49] Donlad Avro: what do you mean canned?
- [15:49] Faust Vollmar: premade
- [15:49] Flight bracelet: Vola oltre 300m: All Go
- [15:49] Donlad Avro: physics are premade... but they had user content.. there was no scripting or anything there
- [15:49] Rex Cronon: i think think that the viewr for "there" was OS, so that anybodym coudl mod it:)
- [15:49] Donlad Avro: but their physics were amazing, extremely realistic vehicles
- [15:50] Rex Cronon: i don't hink*
- [15:50] Gooden Uggla: there had local t4extures and sounds
- [15:50] Rex Cronon: thin*
- [15:50] Gooden Uggla: different animal
- [15:50] Rex Cronon: ahhh. i can't type:(
- [15:50] SHAMUS Carter: omg there is no way i want 34 tb local
- [15:50] Donlad Avro: There.com had server-side textures and sounds
- [15:50] Donlad Avro: You had to download textures and sounds just like SL
- [15:50] Oskar Linden: heh SHAMUS
- [15:50] Donlad Avro: They had 3rd party content creation just like SL does
- [15:51] Oskar Linden: we should just dupe the entire inv server local
- [15:51] Gooden Uggla: a personal onboard texture cache would be nice, just so home could pop right up...
- [15:51] SHAMUS Carter: gulp
- [15:51] Gooden Uggla: but IP rights would be a nightmare
- [15:51] Oskar Linden: IP rights are always a nightmare
- [15:51] Latif Khalifa: blue mars makes you pre-download the whole sim and those are huge...
- [15:51] Donlad Avro: yeah
- [15:51] SHAMUS Carter: IP is a nightmare
- [15:51] Donlad Avro: Blue Mars is pre-download everything
- [15:52] Donlad Avro: There.com was not
- [15:52] Jonathan Yap: Have we reached the end of the agenda?
- [15:52] Oskar Linden: oh yeah Jonathan
- [15:52] Gooden Uggla: there's an agenda?
- [15:52] Latif Khalifa: lol
- [15:52] SHAMUS Carter: Yus !
- [15:52] ANSI Soderstrom: coming soon : ANSIs LSL-PreLoader
- [15:52] Oskar Linden: the agenda was to talk about 1.40
- [15:52] Monty Linden: test havok! test havok!
- [15:52] Oskar Linden: we talked about 1.40
- [15:52] SHAMUS Carter: crash havok crash havok crash havok
- [15:52] Faust Vollmar: Haha speaking of IP nightmares the interop thing is gonna be its own can of worms
- [15:53] Gooden Uggla: always remember to spam content creators with this script [8]
- [15:53] Oskar Linden: yes
- [15:53] Gooden Uggla: or with xugu's HUD
- [15:53] Donlad Avro: yeah I still find tons of people still creating content with old scripting
- [15:53] Oskar Linden: please encourage good coding practices :-D
- [15:53] SHAMUS Carter: hehe
- [15:53] Faust Vollmar: The one script one does have an edge case where it can break, btw.
- [15:53] Faust Vollmar: If you're moving really fast when its going, it fucks up
- [15:54] Faust Vollmar: No local_pos or local_rot flags
- [15:54] SHAMUS Carter: bye all
- [15:54] Gooden Uggla: then fix it and put in the script library
- [15:54] Rex Cronon: tc
- [15:54] Faust Vollmar: So it has to calc from region
- [15:54] Latif Khalifa: yeah lack of working local_pos/rot is a bitch
- [15:54] ANSI Soderstrom: by shamus
- [15:54] Faust Vollmar: Gooden: Can't till we get LOCAL_* flags for pos/rot for primitiveparams
- [15:54] Gooden Uggla: hmmm...
- [15:55] Faust Vollmar: Oskar can you push those for us, btw?
- [15:55] Gooden Uggla: and i'm guessing that'll be a while
- [15:55] Faust Vollmar: looks for the JIRA
- [15:55] Latif Khalifa: send kelly some cookes, that might help :P
- [15:55] Faust Vollmar: Yea
- [15:55] Ima Mechanique: send JD, might help more ;-)
- [15:55] Gooden Uggla: my question is... who resizes boots or hair while driving fast?
- [15:55] xstorm Radek: kelly is a great person
- [15:55] Oskar Linden: heh
- [15:56] ANSI Soderstrom: lol gooden
- [15:56] xstorm Radek: and he is a great scripter
- [15:56] Faust Vollmar: Gooden: I said edge case for a reason, mind you.
- [15:56] Latif Khalifa: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-129
- [15:56] Faust Vollmar: [9]
- [15:56] Lares Carter: erm, isnt PRIM_POSITION already the local?
- [15:56] Faust Vollmar: Bah beat me to it
- [15:56] Gooden Uggla: anyways, pass that script around please, the lag is just getting worse
- [15:56] Faust Vollmar: Lares: No
- [15:57] Faust Vollmar: Its either a bug or a feature, but its not correctly local
- [15:57] Faust Vollmar: Not in attachments atleast
- [15:57] Maestro Linden: actually for that resizer script, moving fast would only be an issue when you save/reest the script
- [15:57] Latif Khalifa: Only open since 2007, talk about encouraging "good coding practices" :P
- [15:57] Lares Carter: if i use llGetLinkPrimitiveParams() on a child then the vector is local, same goes for llSetLinkPrimitiveParamsFast()
- [15:57] xstorm Radek: Temp Rezzer ?
- [15:57] Maestro Linden: setting the position is using object-local coords
- [15:58] ANSI Soderstrom: lock coding for people younger than 3 years
- [15:58] Faust Vollmar: Ah right I forgot that the wiki one actually stores a list of info
- [15:58] Moundsa Mayo: Is the code of scripts preserialized or does that happen at region crossing time?
- [15:58] Faust Vollmar: had changed it to be less breakable by de/relinking
- [15:58] ANSI Soderstrom: and then they have done a "scripting license" first
- [15:59] xstorm Radek: scripting lice ?
- [15:59] xstorm Radek: ;-)
- [15:59] ANSI Soderstrom: o.O
- [15:59] xstorm Radek: thats getting real
- [15:59] Monty Linden: Moundsa: it's not preserialized but it is densitized. :)
- [16:00] Another Hax: pass a basic test or no scripting for you.. how neat that would be
- [16:00] Ima Mechanique: horrible little parasites that feed off scripters?
- [16:00] Moundsa Mayo: TY Monty
- [16:00] Oskar Linden: well it's 4 :-)
- [16:00] Oskar Linden: I am sure you all have tons more to talk about
- [16:00] Gooden Uggla: once more [10]
- [16:00] Oskar Linden: but this linden has more meetings to attend
- [16:00] Gooden Uggla: oskar, i will personally beat the crap outta those sim crossings
- [16:00] Gooden Uggla: have a good evening
- [16:00] Oskar Linden: thanks gooden
- [16:00] ANSI Soderstrom: its 4 lol... its 1am
- [16:00] Monty Linden: thanks you
- [16:00] Ima Mechanique: bye Oskar, Maestro
- [16:01] Rex Cronon: if u have so many meetings, how do u get time to do some coding)
- [16:01] ANSI Soderstrom: cu lindens, cu residents
- [16:01] Moundsa Mayo: "Linden" is Snohomish for 'meeting'
- [16:01] ANSI Soderstrom: and all between
- [16:01] Maestro Linden: bye guys
- [16:01] Rex Cronon: tc
