  • [15:07] Ash Qin: Greetings.
  • [15:07] Oskar Linden: Ashlaka please
  • [15:07] Coyot Linden: I'll be doing some of the stuff that Lil does
  • [15:07] Sigma Avro: forgot wath Lil does, sorry
  • [15:07] Oskar Linden: Lil is a release engineer
  • [15:07] Coyot Linden: server releases
  • [15:07] Oskar Linden: he takes the code and deploys it
  • [15:08] Coyot Linden: I'm mostly just here to listen
  • [15:08] Sigma Avro: ok, so we wll may be know deploy plans ?
  • [15:08] Coyot Linden: sorry, I didn't parse that ...
  • [15:09] Sigma Avro: since many features are not implemented unifromly on grid, sometinmes some would like to have more details about plans, just to take some measures
  • [15:09] Oskar Linden: you know the deploy plans
  • [15:09] Oskar Linden: tuesday is main grid
  • [15:09] Oskar Linden: wednesday in rc candidates
  • [15:10] Coyot Linden: +1
  • [15:10] Sigma Avro: ah, ok Oskar, it maens that sim <-> channels map will not change anymore ?
  • [15:10] Jonathan Yap: Is there any news/rumors when xmpp testing might start?
  • [15:10] Sigma Avro: magnum will always be magnum and so on ?
  • [15:11] Oskar Linden: not entirely certain what you mean Sigma but sure
  • [15:11] Sigma Avro: strange, because the "test" channels have been distributed ramdomly
  • [15:12] Coyot Linden: yes, that is good statistical testing methodology
  • [15:12] Sigma Avro: for instance if I would like two magnum asside, I could never get it ?
  • [15:12] Oskar Linden: two magnum regions next to eacher other?
  • [15:12] Sigma Avro: yes
  • [15:12] Oskar Linden: if you have two regions and want that we can do it
  • [15:13] Sigma Avro: ok thanks, and I should ask to you ?
  • [15:13] Oskar Linden: yes
  • [15:13] Oskar Linden: if you ahve regions on AGNI that you want on MAGNUM please IM me on AGNI
  • [15:14] Sigma Avro: tks, ok
  • [15:14] Ash Qin: Forgive me for interupting, since I can't hear 'Sigman', wherever he is from here. But, when will the processing of [1] resume again?
  • [15:14] Marigold Devin: Oh I thought that was just me Ash, I moved closer, Sigma is behind Oskar
  • [15:14] Oskar Linden: probably never Ash
  • [15:14] Sigma Avro: lol, I kep far form lag, sory
  • [15:14] Marigold Devin: can hear voice yes
  • [15:14] Oskar Linden: we don't do voice here coyot
  • [15:15] Oskar Linden: it's a text meeting :-)
  • [15:15] Coyot Linden: sure, but when Ash said they couldn't hear Sigman, I thought maybe I was out of the voice channel
  • [15:15] Oskar Linden: typing
  • [15:15] Oskar Linden: yeah
  • [15:15] Oskar Linden: it has a range limit
  • [15:15] Sigma Avro: looking for agenda
  • [15:16] Ash Qin: So how would one get their regions on the RC list or request changes to specific channels for sims adjacent to each other?
  • [15:16] Draconis Neurocam: 20 meter radius for text
  • [15:16] Oskar Linden: Ash you can IM me on AGNI
  • [15:16] Draconis Neurocam: unless shouted
  • [15:16] Oskar Linden: if you own a region and want it on or off an RC
  • [15:16] Marigold Devin: Thanks Sigma for coming in closer - now I think we are all within 20m chat range
  • [15:17] Sigma Avro: well, can be changed in viewer actually, seemsto me
  • [15:17] Ash Qin: Thanks Oskar.
  • [15:17] Ryu Darragh: Hiya, Simon. LTNS
  • [15:17] Oskar Linden: so let's talk about this week
  • [15:17] Oskar Linden: here is the agenda again
  • [15:17] Oskar Linden: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group
  • [15:17] Oskar Linden: the main channel release went out easily enough
  • [15:18] Oskar Linden: fireworks should work everywhere now
  • [15:18] Oskar Linden: we noticed Magnum was crashing at a higher rate than the other RC's and Andrew put in some investigative time into it
  • [15:18] Simon Linden: I'd also be interested in hearing if region load times seems faster at tall
  • [15:18] Simon Linden: ... at all
  • [15:18] Oskar Linden: he didn't really find anything major
  • [15:19] Ash Qin: (I'll note that the SL website is currently having issues right now, so the wiki links likely don't work either)
  • [15:19] Ryu Darragh: Got the wiki page for the minutes.
  • [15:19] Maestro Linden: Hm, that wiki link is loading ok for me, but then again I'm in the office..
  • [15:20] Ash Qin: Inaccessible here, main site is throwing squid errors.
  • [15:20] Draconis Neurocam: fine here
  • [15:20] Latif Khalifa: wiki works fine
  • [15:20] Ryu Darragh: And i have cable from Comcast... one of your major ISPs, isn;t it?
  • [15:20] Flip Idlemind: Log Linden r here
  • [15:20] Oskar Linden: hey Log
  • [15:20] Log Linden: HI everyone!
  • [15:20] Coyot Linden: hey log
  • [15:20] Sigma Avro: h
  • [15:20] Ryu Darragh: Hiyas, Log.
  • [15:20] Latif Khalifa: hello Log
  • [15:21] Void Singer: haven't noticed anything with load times one way or another but it seems like something changed in the land object selector because group owned items just rezzed (maybe only temp rezzed) are getting highlighted with regular resident items
  • [15:22] Ash Qin: Temp rezzed objects always showed up with any resident's items.
  • [15:22] Sigma Avro: thye could appear with different color, would be handy
  • [15:23] Sigma Avro: well, dont' see howit could be done
  • [15:23] Oskar Linden: we had to roll BlueSteel back this week sadly
  • [15:23] Sheila Mimulus: hey Oskar linen with more people droping out of sl and opening there own sim will linden lag make sl just like agame ?
  • [15:23] Oskar Linden: it got a little too crashy
  • [15:23] Sheila Mimulus: linden
  • [15:24] Sigma Avro: what was the reason ?
  • [15:24] Oskar Linden: I don't know the details exactly
  • [15:24] Oskar Linden: the developers are digging into it
  • [15:24] Jonathan Yap: The last I heard there was a L$20,000 reward for finding a solid repo
  • [15:25] Oskar Linden: not anymore
  • [15:25] Oskar Linden: and that was for magnum
  • [15:26] Oskar Linden: andrew deduced that there was no crasher where he thought
  • [15:26] Oskar Linden: and he chalked it up to memory bloat that will get looked at in a larger scope later
  • [15:26] Sheila Mimulus: i was asking do to the trendone sim i was a part of and 7 other sim all closed and abandon there regions and moved to opensim so what will linden lab do to stop abandon land and all them users dropping out ?
  • [15:27] Oskar Linden: I don't know Sheila
  • [15:27] Oskar Linden: it's not something we can stop.
  • [15:27] Marigold Devin: I think that would come under the next bit of the meeting - the communications improvement thingy
  • [15:27] Sigma Avro: buf, opensim are empty
  • [15:27] Oskar Linden: from my pov and the pov of those here we can just try to ship better quality code
  • [15:27] Ash Qin: Sheila, I think you're at the wrong office hour
  • [15:27] Marigold Devin: But new users are joining all the time
  • [15:27] Homeless: SL: is a revolving door
  • [15:28] Oskar Linden: SL is a growing evolving thing. people come and people go. we accept that.
  • [15:28] Coyot Linden: so is real life
  • [15:28] RedMokum Bravin: Against crashes... it might help to keep that "Reborn viewer" out of the door that everybody is now buzzing about.
  • [15:28] Ash Qin: I am constantly seeing new users in my sim (probably because it's on the destinations guide), so I know there is no lack of new users comming to SL
  • [15:28] Oskar Linden: is that the latest craze Red?
  • [15:28] RedMokum Bravin: Yes, a new copybot that allows people god mode or something.
  • [15:29] Ryu Darragh: SL is a better choice for folks who like to actually interract with the folks they know, unlike Facebook and it's wall of graffiti approach :P
  • [15:29] Sheila Mimulus: no if bater testers do not come up with better content and may be better ways to handle the way sims work and region cost there may be no users left
  • [15:29] Sigma Avro: (me too Ash,and I am on no estination guide, excpet that I have a small sandbox offered)
  • [15:29] Marigold Devin: Can we stick to the agenda - I think communications gets covered later. Its only an hour long meeting.
  • [15:29] Oskar Linden: LeTigre should get promoted next week
  • [15:29] Oskar Linden:  :-D
  • [15:29] Sheila Mimulus: beta testers need to come up with better content
  • [15:29] Oskar Linden: working on it MGD
  • [15:30] Marigold Devin:  ;-)
  • [15:30] Sheila Mimulus: it takes every one
  • [15:30] Oskar Linden: the Display Names stuff has been sitting in the wings ready to ship for a while now
  • [15:30] Oskar Linden: we figure it's about time
  • [15:30] Ash Qin: Sheilia, I find that highly unlikely due to the large amount of users.. I'm wiling to talk to you in IM, but I don't really want to derail this office hour with a discussion about that in local chat.
  • [15:30] Draconis Neurocam: thats very good oskar
  • [15:31] Oskar Linden: has anyone noticed better behaviour of Display Names on LeTigre regions?
  • [15:31] Ryu Darragh: I've had to advise a few folks using the 2.x viewer on mainland about how to get some "gift vendors" to work properly. One a scripter and a dozen or so users.
  • [15:31] Bronson Blackadder: been seeing less ??? ???
  • [15:31] Draconis Neurocam: ive not noticed problems with them in good while on any version actually
  • [15:31] Bronson Blackadder: far less
  • [15:31] RedMokum Bravin: Les question marks indeed.
  • [15:31] Marigold Devin: Yes no ???? ??? this week at all for me
  • [15:31] Void SingerVoid: Singer has them turned off: er... no? =X
  • [15:31] Ash Qin: I am getting very frustrated using display names due to my random netwok hiccups cause ??? everywhere.
  • [15:31] Nancy Azemus: hello :)
  • [15:32] Oskar Linden: yeah I hope we get some of the DN caching things worked out
  • [15:32] RedMokum Bravin: And the announcement of people changing names in the sim is irritating as always. :-)
  • [15:32] Void SingerVoid: Singer scrolls back looking for any updates on encroachment
  • [15:32] Oskar Linden: it's annoying for me too to watch the vwr do DN lookups every tiem someone types
  • [15:32] Sheila Mimulus: i know just how many users was online to day only 53,000 out of the 1,000,000 that we had at one time
  • [15:32] Sigma Avro: well, in Magnum and RC, I have seen much less, and pactically no more ???? for display names in chat and others pop ups
  • [15:32] Sheila Mimulus: less users cost us money
  • [15:32] Latif Khalifa: Oskar, which viewer does that?
  • [15:33] Sigma Avro: any Latif, seems to me
  • [15:33] Oskar Linden: my 2.5 seems to do that
  • [15:33] Latif Khalifa: lol
  • [15:33] Marigold Devin: Heck, Red, you're right about that
  • [15:33] Latif Khalifa: that's swell
  • [15:33] Oskar Linden:  :-)
  • [15:33] RedMokum Bravin: Why do displayname changes get echoed over the sim anyway?
  • [15:34] Oskar Linden: every time someone types the vwr shows it as blank until it makes the lookup to see what their name is
  • [15:34] Latif Khalifa: (everyone switch to Radegast for the best chat results) :P
  • [15:34] Oskar Linden: it's a feature Red
  • [15:34] Sigma Avro: but is that not a server problem, rther than simulators ?
  • [15:34] Oskar LindenOskar: Linden guesses
  • [15:34] Oskar Linden: hey maestro
  • [15:34] RedMokum Bravin: The echo seems unncessary extra work.
  • [15:34] Latif Khalifa: Red, how many people change their display names?
  • [15:35] Latif Khalifa: no it's not, it's quite useful
  • [15:35] Oskar Linden: did you verify that Threaded Rez did get enabled on Magnum?
  • [15:35] Latif Khalifa: and one person can do it once a week only
  • [15:35] RedMokum Bravin: They do it all the time in a shop on my home sim.
  • [15:35] Ash Qin: Well, they can do it twice actually.
  • [15:35] Maestro Linden: oh, it's on Oskar
  • [15:35] Bronson BlackadderBronson: Blackadder was just going to change his name to Prokofy Neva Wannabe
  • [15:35] Marigold Devin: In fairness, it only seems to happen loads places like the Welcome Areas, then its like a weird competition see who can come up with the most outlandish names.
  • [15:35] Flip Idlemind: Kelly Linden r here
  • [15:35] Ash Qin: Change it to a display name, then change it to their username in the same week.
  • [15:35] RedMokum Bravin: The shop attracts "midnight mania crowd" which gets refreshed all the time.
  • [15:35] Oskar Linden: that's a good thing
  • [15:35] Marigold Devin: Oooo BB that's naughty ! And these notes will get written up on the Wiki for Prok to see !!!!1
  • [15:35] Oskar Linden: Threaded-Rez is enabled on Magnumregions
  • [15:36] Jonathan Yap: You can't reset your name back anymore via the new web profile
  • [15:36] Ryu Darragh: Lookout! Kelly is armed :D
  • [15:36] Bronson Blackadder: right on! she'll love me for it
  • [15:36] Bronson Blackadder: untill she discovers Im a pig
  • [15:36] Void Singer: will threaded rez see a return of the wall of bullet effect for weapons?
  • [15:36] Sigma Avro: I have not verified this, and dont' see how to
  • [15:36] Oskar Linden: I don't think so void
  • [15:36] Ryu Darragh: ack :P Animation lag..
  • [15:37] Ryu Darragh: It actually makes my Photon Torpedo Breath for dragons work better.
  • [15:37] Maestro Linden: mostly, threaded rez reduces simulator lag when objects are being rezzed
  • [15:37] Last (last): is now known as Last.
  • [15:37] Sigma Avro: ok, I see Maestro, will check also then
  • [15:37] Oskar Linden: we have the Last Resident here
  • [15:38] Oskar Linden: hi Last
  • [15:38] Last: Hello: all.
  • [15:38] Homeless: hi: Last
  • [15:38] Marigold Devin: Haha cool name
  • [15:38] Oskar Linden: so on to upcoming stuff
  • [15:38] Ryu DarraghRyu: Darragh wonders if there's an "Evil Resident"
  • [15:38] Siana Gearz: helloes.
  • [15:38] Oskar Linden: I had hoped to have some more XMPP details for you today but I don't
  • [15:38] Draconis Neurocam: aww
  • [15:38] Oskar Linden: I've got a meeting tomorrow to determine the release procedures
  • [15:38] Latif Khalifa: I gave them som headache :P
  • [15:39] Object: To: join our group 1) open your chat history, 2) click on the link, and 3) press the Join button.
  • [15:39] Object: : Second Life Beta
  • [15:39] Latif Khalifa: (found some design problems)
  • [15:39] Flip Idlemind: There's an "IWannaBeTheP Resident" (but that's me)
  • [15:39] Marigold Devin: That's what we're here for Latif - to give thema headache
  • [15:39] Oskar Linden: nice flip
  • [15:40] Ryu Darragh: I thought the idea of the Beta Group was to get SL in motrin...
  • [15:40] Oskar Linden: so yeah I should have some more XMPP info next week
  • [15:40] Fine Caliber: A quick question on the subject of usernames:
  • [15:40] Oskar Linden: in motrin?
  • [15:40] Latif Khalifa: I know Gez and friends are hard at work with it. And looks cool so far ;)
  • [15:40] Ryu Darragh: (NSAID for headaches :P)
  • [15:41] Latif Khalifa: (and I have xmpp chat working in Radegast) ;)
  • [15:41] Ryu Darragh: Sorry, bad puns are a curse I suffer from.
  • [15:41] Oskar Linden: oh
  • [15:41] Oskar Linden: you'll like Coyot
  • [15:41] Fine Caliber: I'm finding it difficult to locate people in search using their legacy name (like Fine Caliber) if they've changed their display name. Their username (like fine.caliber) doesn't bring up a thing. If I'm lucky, I'll find a group they've founded. If I'm lucky. Any fix for this?
  • [15:41] Oskar Linden:  :-)
  • [15:41] Coyot LindenCoyot: Linden hides )
  • [15:41] Fine Caliber: ( just not sure where to bring this issue up )
  • [15:41] Sigma Avro: the other way around, Coyot will like Latif, hehe
  • [15:41] Oskar Linden: well fine...
  • [15:42] Latif Khalifa: Fine, searh? Fix? lol
  • [15:42] Oskar Linden: you might need to find the Search User Group and ask Sea Linden
  • [15:42] Oskar Linden: I have a trick though
  • [15:42] Coyot Linden: Seek and you will Fine
  • [15:42] Oskar Linden: if you own a parcel
  • [15:42] Oskar Linden: ban the person
  • [15:42] Ash Qin: Haha
  • [15:42] Ryu DarraghRyu: Darragh holds his muzzle to keep the PUNishment from wafting out on his breath...
  • [15:42] Latif Khalifa: there is a earch User Group ?
  • [15:42] Oskar Linden: that search uses the dataserver
  • [15:42] Siana Gearz: latif and coyot will bite each other and thus form a new kind of food chain: a bicycle food chain.
  • [15:42] Oskar Linden: and returns results faster
  • [15:42] Oskar Linden: enough to get you that green (i) so you can IM them
  • [15:43] Flip Idlemind: Viewer 2 search...doesn't always work the way you think it should
  • [15:43] Sigma Avro: yes, seems this server gives wrong info about Lindens, they appear as always working, lol
  • [15:43] Oskar Linden: I mean add the person to banned residents portion of the access tab in About Land
  • [15:43] Latif Khalifa: flip, delete "always " and "the way you think it should"
  • [15:43] Oskar Linden: we are always working
  • [15:43] Ryu Darragh: Takes careful scripting to make some bendors work. Sometimes hard to code for all possible name schemas between new Residents and legacy names.
  • [15:43] Ryu Darragh: vendors
  • [15:44] Latif Khalifa: lol
  • [15:44] Flip Idlemind: But that would just leave "Viewer 2 search doesn't work"...oh I see what you did there
  • [15:44] Oskar Linden: ok then
  • [15:44] Oskar Linden: not sure if you all saw it but there was a new blog post
  • [15:44] Oskar Linden: [2]
  • [15:44] Void SingerVoid: Singer bows to Oskar: that's a trick dirtier than most of mine
  • [15:44] Oskar Linden: along the lines of our new communication policy
  • [15:44] Fine Caliber: Actually, Drac here scripted a little something for our huds. We can search a legacy name and it spits out the UUID and a link to their web profile. IDK how he does it. Magic prolly.
  • [15:44] Oskar Linden: this is the officehour -> usergroup conversion I mentioned last week
  • [15:45] Oskar Linden: no real changes for this meeting or how I run it
  • [15:45] Fine Caliber: I will check out the search user group. Unless it's a joke. Then, well. :(
  • [15:45] Oskar Linden: they should have one Flip
  • [15:45] Oskar Linden: I believe that is Sea's intent
  • [15:45] Sigma Avro: mmh, except for facebook, seems good
  • [15:45] Ryu Darragh: The various websites with names/UUIDS are still active
  • [15:45] Latif Khalifa: srlsy, there is searh user group`
  • [15:45] Oskar Linden: there is a wiki page for the new UG's
  • [15:46] Oskar Linden: or there should be soon
  • [15:46] Draconis Neurocam: [3] search isnt listed though
  • [15:46] Mono2Performance 11.02.08.220590: Touched 8
  • [15:46] Oskar Linden: [4]
  • [15:46] Latif Khalifa: search people don't communicate they have all the answers
  • [15:46] Ash Qin: Fine Caliber, just use https://my.secondlife.com/ash.qin
  • [15:46] Ash Qin: Replace ash.qin with any other username
  • [15:46] Oskar Linden: then I guess they haven't gotten it figured out yet
  • [15:46] Oskar Linden: I thought they had one planned
  • [15:46] Latif Khalifa: i doubt it
  • [15:47] Oskar Linden: keep an eye on that page
  • [15:47] Sigma Avro: that is nice, it should be linked to the main page of SL
  • [15:47] Oskar Linden: it could happen
  • [15:47] Oskar Linden: that blog post said we're going to listen more
  • [15:47] Void Singer: I would guess that'd be part of the advertising...
  • [15:47] Sheila Mimulus: why am i getting this error over and over ? No valid agent id.
  • [15:47] Latif Khalifa: heh, blog says all sort of weird stuff
  • [15:47] Fine CaliberFine: Caliber nods, "I will try and remember. :D But Drac made it too easy, so it's now forgotten."
  • [15:47] Latif Khalifa: for latest news on sl tune to facebook lol... and we're going to listen more and remove voting from jira ;)
  • [15:48] Coyot Linden: sorry, what? :)
  • [15:48] Maestro Linden: Sheila: that's svc-6678
  • [15:48] JIRA-helper: http//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-6678:
  • [#SVC-6678] Changing Regions: Very fast Causes " No Valid Agent ID "
  • [15:48] Oskar Linden: I don't think voting was ever taken into account internally fwiw
  • [15:48] Maestro Linden: which is fixed on Magnum RC
  • [15:48] Latif Khalifa: oskar, i know :)
  • [15:48] Latif Khalifa: just doesn't compute to listen more
  • [15:49] Sheila Mimulus: oh thank you
  • [15:49] Void SingerVoid: Singer does wonder who rights the announcements some days =|
  • [15:49] Fine Caliber: Mm. Bitterness is delicious.
  • [15:49] Oskar Linden: ok, so from the mouth of Sea herself: "tell them I'll come to your OH when I can and announce redesign stuff"
  • [15:50] Sheila Mimulus: hold on im just sitting not moving and im getting it
  • [15:50] Latif Khalifa: sure sounds like wanting feedback lol
  • [15:50] Fine Caliber: Looking forward to meeting her ^_^
  • [15:50] Oskar Linden: but yeah doesn't look like there will be a Search UG :-)
  • [15:50] Latif Khalifa: of course not
  • [15:50] Oskar Linden: oh well
  • [15:50] Oskar Linden:  :-)
  • [15:51] Homeless: it: would be too militant
  • [15:51] Void Singer: it would seem a little to specific...
  • [15:51] Oskar Linden: that's the point of user groups
  • [15:51] Sigma Avro: if UG become as crouded as jira, it will not work anymore, hehe
  • [15:51] Oskar Linden: targetting sections
  • [15:51] Latif KhalifaLatif: Khalifa puts a notch down in his table "latif was right" :P
  • [15:51] Fine Caliber: Yuh. I'm mentioning it at every user group I attend :D
  • [15:51] Oskar Linden: there's not much left to that table I imagine latif
  • [15:51] Sheila Mimulus: well your usergroup needs a think tank
  • [15:51] Latif Khalifa: lol
  • [15:51] Oskar Linden: you think so?
  • [15:51] Oskar Linden: a think tank
  • [15:52] Oskar Linden: who would we put in it?
  • [15:52] Sheila Mimulus: yes
  • [15:52] Siana Gearz: i think, and for that i need to tank sugar and coffee. will that do?
  • [15:52] Sigma Avro: some beer for me would be fine
  • [15:52] Siana Gearz: also, i think therefore i am.
  • [15:52] Oskar Linden: I see
  • [15:52] Homeless: how: about a tank that thinks?
  • [15:52] Ryu Darragh: I'd rather get tanked than be dropped into a tank :P
  • [15:52] Marigold Devin: Algorithms for me.
  • [15:52] Kelly Linden: do we get to fill it with water and seal off the top?
  • [15:52] Latif Khalifa: i know search does not want to listen to users or to recieve feedback, they think they got it all figured out. in the meanwhile they're killing sl economy
  • [15:52] Ryu Darragh: I have a dunk tank for fun and games, though...
  • [15:52] Sigma Avro: any thing about meshes ?
  • [15:53] Oskar Linden: I have no new mesh news
  • [15:53] Void SingerVoid: Singer LOL @ Kelly: some of us wouldn't mind that
  • [15:53] Sheila Mimulus: no a think tank of beta testers to come up with things like scripts that can not be used out side of sl
  • [15:53] Oskar Linden: the MeshUG might be a better group to ask about that
  • [15:53] Sigma Avro: ok
  • [15:53] Latif Khalifa: Kelly should explain how resource throttling works to the Mesh people. They have no idea. Tell them how llHTTPReqiest is throttled Kelly :)
  • [15:53] Oskar Linden: Kelly, feel like pimping your UG here?
  • [15:54] Marigold Devin: I take it all the OH have got the new communications proposals tacked into their agendas, being something that affects every single resident?
  • [15:54] Sigma Avro: but simulators have to handle mesh limits, so was just asking
  • [15:54] Ryu Darragh: Indeed... while perambulating the mesh playgrounds I have questions, but Monday is the best time for them.
  • [15:54] Kelly Linden: My UG is not yet finalized, I think.
  • [15:54] Oskar Linden: ok
  • [15:54] Latif Khalifa: Runtai was trying to convice me that you can avoid throttling with multiple scripts. I tried to tell him there is a new method for that, but I guess he will believe you more ;)
  • [15:54] Oskar Linden: anything else people want to talk about for the next few minutes?
  • [15:55] Homeless: I: added an item to the agenda under other items
  • [15:55] Sigma Avro: yes, raycast
  • [15:55] Sigma Avro: just plans
  • [15:55] Oskar Linden: didn't we just talk about raycast last week?
  • [15:55] Homeless: Will: fly ever work over 200 meters?
  • [15:55] Oskar Linden: probably not homeless
  • [15:56] Sigma Avro: well, we said nothing about it actually. only that planned
  • [15:56] Oskar Linden: that's what planes are for
  • [15:56] Ash QinAsh: Qin thought the 200meters was intentional.
  • [15:56] Oskar Linden: that's all we've got for you Sigma
  • [15:56] Siana Gearz: homeless, not without a jetpack, the air is too thin to just flap through it.
  • [15:56] Oskar Linden: it is intentional
  • [15:56] Homeless: SL: experience would be greatly improved and a lot of scripted attachments would be gone in 1 crack
  • [15:56] Jonathan Yap: It makes everyone have to wear a flight feather or something similar
  • [15:56] Sigma Avro: would be nice o more more precise ideas about meshes limits, well, nothing new
  • [15:56] Maestro Linden: Kelly just told me that the mono2 upgrade / sim freeze fix is ready for QA again
  • [15:56] Oskar Linden: I don't think it is high on the list homeless
  • [15:56] Draconis Neurocam: oooh
  • [15:56] RedMokum Bravin: Yay!
  • [15:56] Oskar Linden: ooooooooooooh
  • [15:56] Kelly Linden: \o/
  • [15:56] Draconis Neurocam: thats really good news
  • [15:57] Latif Khalifa: Actually using phoenix and i'm down to 1 script on me, the flight feather
  • [15:57] Homeless: I: figured as much
  • [15:57] Latif Khalifa: on agni
  • [15:57] Siana Gearz: is feather a heavy attachment? it's a single script, but how often does it get executed?
  • [15:57] Latif Khalifa: Yey for -tehKellz' !
  • [15:57] Maestro LindenMaestro: Linden would be in favor of removing the avatar flight ceiling
  • [15:57] Coyot LindenCoyot: Linden had mono2 once, but I got better after the antibiotics
  • [15:57] Homeless: The: JIRA is over 3 years old
  • [15:57] Ash Qin: Latif, you're not using the LSL bridge in phoenix?
  • [15:57] Latif Khalifa: Siana, not heavy
  • [15:57] Latif Khalifa: Ash, nope
  • [15:57] Sigma Avro: Well, also, I wander how scripts load could be counted more thah by just counting mono and non mono scriptd
  • [15:58] Flip Idlemind: Oh yeah I haz question. Someone (who I'll admit has a history of lying / making stuff up) told me that when script limits come, the limit for avatars will be 50 scripts. Have details like that actually been worked out yet?
  • [15:58] RedMokum Bravin: Actually in many opensims I have problems staying on the ground... physics doesn't work so good there. :-)
  • [15:58] Sigma Avro: *scripts
  • [15:58] Ryu DarraghRyu: Darragh laughs at Coyot
  • [15:58] Fine CaliberFine: Caliber kind of seconds Homeless, "Better script management maybe. Wiping scripts from each prim in an object is a useful feature not included in LL viewer."
  • [15:58] Simon Linden: FLIP - no limits have been set
  • [15:58] Void SingerVoid: Singer is greatly looking forward to the mono fix... makes me want to cry seeing av's with 20-50MiB of mono script tp in.... and watch the region go take a smoke break
  • [15:58] Latif Khalifa: What would be nice optimization would be batching of linked prim updates.-
  • [15:58] Kelly Linden: They have not Flip.
  • [15:59] Kelly Linden: And it will be size based, not number based.
  • [15:59] Latif Khalifa: Single prim resizer can be painfully slow.
  • [15:59] Sheila Mimulus: when will there be better mesh and flex sculpt ?
  • [15:59] Latif Khalifa: If there was a way to batch aall linked prim updates, I guess the sim perfomance would improve too.
  • [15:59] Oskar Linden: better than what Sheila?
  • [15:59] Flip Idlemind: Actual size or "reserved size", because if it's the latter then it's essentially the same as numbers based
  • [15:59] Void Singer: Latif, it shouldn't be.... I tested my with 256 and it ran in a few secs
  • [15:59] Sigma Avro: Kelly, sorry, but I wander how you do this actually. By scripting it does not work
  • [15:59] Ryu Darragh: Right now, i think prim_position is the only function batched, isn't it?
  • [15:59] Siana Gearz: painfully? it resizes a few hundred prims per second on mono!
  • [15:59] RedMokum Bravin: Better than no mesh :-)
  • [15:59] Sheila Mimulus: i was trying the mesh its not working good
  • [16:00] Kelly Linden: Since the fixes to link test speed, llsetlinkprimitiveparamsfast is WAY better
  • [16:00] Sigma Avro: arg
  • [16:00] Oskar Linden: try asking at the Mesh UG Sheila. I don't know.
  • [16:00] Ash Qin: Sheila, worked for me.
  • [16:00] Latif Khalifa: It is better since linkability changes.
  • [16:01] Oskar Linden: ok guys the cuckoo clock has spoken and our hour is up
  • [16:01] Draconis Neurocam: yes much thanks for the new linkset rules kelly
  • [16:01] Siana Gearz: peanut butter jelly time?
  • [16:01] Oskar LindenOskar: Linden starts saving the simstate and packing up all the prims
  • [16:01] Kelly Linden: don't thank me. Andrew did that.
  • [16:01] Sigma Avro: have not heard the coucou, sorry, not a valid argument, lol
  • [16:01] Draconis Neurocam: ah
  • [16:01] Latif Khalifa: Congrats on the first user group. (not that user group means what it usually means) :P
  • [16:01] Flip Idlemind: In other words, with script limits will we be able to see how much memory scripts are /actually/ using (Not just 64kb no matter how big or small the script)
  • [16:01] Void Singer: before you run off Kelly, what (possible) UG were you to be running if Finalized?
  • [16:02] Latif Khalifa: flip, scripts (mono) are not all using 64k... they're just counted like that
  • [16:02] Simon Linden: Thanks all ... see you next time
  • [16:02] Kelly Linden: Scripting
  • [16:02] Homeless: the: cuckoo went off 3 minutes ago
  • [16:02] Oskar Linden: have a good rest of the week everybody
  • [16:02] Flip Idlemind: I know, I'm asking will they stop being counted like that
  • [16:02] Ash Qin: Have fun
  • [16:02] Ryu Darragh: Ciao, Simon..
  • [16:02] Draconis Neurocam: take care oskar
  • [16:02] Kelly Linden: no flip.
  • [16:02] Lares Carter: thanks for the time lindens
  • [16:02] Latif Khalifa: Thank you Simon... btw. missed you question before, did some testing with viewers on emty cache
  • [16:02] Sigma Avro: well, thta was a thanks foe the 62 minutes
  • [16:02] Maestro Linden: Thanks for coming, everybody!
  • [16:03] Latif Khalifa: and the rezzing *was* faster after interest list patches got in
  • [16:03] Coyot Linden: cya
  • [16:03] Void SingerVoid: Singer will be keeping an eye out for that: I'll assume that means you'r poping into andrews then.... prolly see ya there =)
  • [16:03] Flip Idlemind: So in that case, script limits actually will be numbers based
  • [16:03] Marigold DevinMarigold: Devin waves bye to everyone.
  • [16:03] Ash Qin: Be safe
  • [16:03] Identity Euler: bye
  • [16:03] Latif Khalifa: take care you all
  • [16:03] RedMokum Bravin: Ciao! Keep up the good work!
