  • [15:05] Oskar Linden: looking back to last week we had a rollback
  • [15:05] Oskar Linden: of the threaded region crossing code
  • [15:05] Oskar Linden: so that was out of the running for promotion
  • [15:05] Coyot Linden: :(
  • [15:05] Rex Cronon: hello everybody
  • [15:05] Oskar Linden: on bluesteel and letigre we had a lot of inv related issues
  • [15:05] Coyot Linden: :(

  • [15:06] Rex Cronon: wassup:)
  • [15:06] Fancy Greeter: Maestro Linden has arrived!
  • [15:06] Oskar Linden: promoting code that has serious bugs is not something we do intentionally Kadah
  • [15:06] Jessica LyonJessica Lyon quotes Oskar
  • [15:06] Oskar Linden: so we had nothing to promote this week
  • [15:06] Oskar Linden: quote me
  • [15:06] Jessica Lyon: for future reference ;)
  • [15:07] Kadah Coba: lol
  • [15:07] Oskar Linden: new features that you don't like don't count as serious bugs
  • [15:07] Grid Crash Protection Box: JarooUK Resident, you are now shielded from the effects of any Grid crashes which might occur!
  • [15:07] Oskar Linden: ^^^ caveat
  • [15:07] Jessica Lyon: oh well damn
  • [15:07] Jessica Lyon: sigh...
  • [15:07] Oskar Linden: sowwy
  • [15:07] Rex Cronon: AFK...............................
  • [15:07] Rex Cronon: afk
  • [15:07] Jessica Lyon: lol
  • [15:07] Oskar Linden: anyway
  • [15:07] Grid Crash Protection Box: JarooUK Resident, you are no longer protected from the vagaries of the Grid - beware!
  • [15:07] Oskar Linden: nothing to promote this week
  • [15:07] Sahkolihaa Contepomi: Hey Maestro.
  • [15:07] Maestro Linden: HI guys
  • [15:07] Oskar Linden: and we didn't have the cycles to get the bugs fixed
  • [15:07] JarooUK: ✦✦ℋℹ❺✦✦
  • [15:07] Kadah Coba: What about the legacy perm issues that got promoted to all channels last year? :P
  • [15:07] Larre Leborski: Hi Maestro :-)
  • [15:07] Oskar Linden: so we had nothing to put into RC on Wednesday
  • [15:07] Lares Carter: Heya Maestro
  • [15:08] Oskar Linden: every region has the same trunk code
  • [15:08] Homeless: bicycles or motorcycles?
  • [15:08] Coyot Linden: scooters
  • [15:08] Kallista Destiny: For th first time in quite a whioe eh?
  • [15:08] Oskar Linden: this should be the most stable week ever
  • [15:08] Kallista Destiny: while*
  • [15:08] Oskar Linden: all regions on one code
  • [15:08] Oskar Linden: AND
  • [15:08] Oskar Linden: the rebalancing
  • [15:08] Fancy Greeter: CCM Tester has arrived!
  • [15:08] Jessica Lyon: \o/ great timing too! for us...
  • [15:08] Oskar Linden: we have data now
  • [15:08] Oskar Linden: Coyot tell us about some of the findings
  • [15:08] Coyot Linden: yes, I think it has been years since the whole grid was one
  • [15:09] Oskar Linden: let's just say that the rebalancing totally worked
  • [15:09] Jessica Lyon: we might.. destabilize it with a viewer release or two >.>
  • [15:09] Coyot Linden: So, first, I will have numbers next week
  • [15:09] Kallista Destiny: Some people will still complin that this, that or the other RC is slower.
  • [15:09] Oskar Linden: we're working on a blog post
  • [15:09] Coyot Linden: nothing hard yet
  • [15:09] Coyot Linden: right, Oskar
  • [15:09] Coyot Linden: but
  • [15:09] Coyot Linden: crash rates went down to A SIXTH of what they were
  • [15:09] Coyot Linden: FPS is up
  • [15:09] Coyot Linden: tport success is up
  • [15:09] Jessica LyonJessica Lyon likes
  • [15:09] Coyot Linden: region crossing times are down
  • [15:10] Coyot Linden: the graphs are amazing
  • [15:10] Coyot Linden: and I hope to share it all with you
  • [15:10] Larre Leborski: Nice :-)
  • [15:10] Homeless: can't wait to see them!
  • [15:10] Coyot Linden: once we get it together and blessed
  • [15:10] Coyot Linden: (there may be some restrictions on what we can share)
  • [15:11] Coyot Linden: back to you, Oskar
  • [15:11] Oskar Linden: :-)
  • [15:11] Kallista Destiny: Tport has been occcasionally very unreliable the past week.
  • [15:11] Oskar Linden: the graphs really are amazing
  • [15:11] Kallista Destiny: taking up to 4 tries to get to places
  • [15:11] Oskar Linden: looking at it from a number pov is very impressive
  • [15:12] Oskar Linden: we had a 5/6ths drop in daily simulator crashes
  • [15:12] Oskar Linden: that alone is amazing
  • [15:12] Homeless: in LR tport is a disaster
  • [15:12] Oskar Linden: LR is its own thing now kinda
  • [15:12] Oskar Linden: long story
  • [15:12] Oskar Linden: anyways. we will get a blog post up with fancy graphs
  • [15:12] MartinRJ Fayray: how could you test that? I didn't get any response since charlars gone
  • [15:12] Oskar Linden: I know you all love seeing your numbers
  • [15:12] Oskar Linden: :-)
  • [15:12] Rex Cronon: back
  • [15:13] Jessica Lyon: \o/ numbers and graphs
  • [15:13] Oskar Linden: in the meantime Lorca and Falcon are here to talk about pathfinding
  • [15:13] Oskar Linden: someone wake up Falcon
  • [15:13] Falcon Linden: I'm here, I'm here
  • [15:13] Lorca Linden: poke ;
  • [15:13] Falcon Linden: I'm debugging pathfinding in the next window over :P
  • [15:13] Lorca Linden: yes so very soon
  • [15:13] Lorca Linden: we are going to be releasing the viewer tools for pathfinding
  • [15:14] Lorca Linden: this will allow you to paly with the variable character speeds, view the nav-mesh, regenerate nav-meshes for your own buildings / terrian
  • [15:14] Lorca Linden: among other things
  • [15:14] Lorca Linden: that will happen by next week
  • [15:14] TankMaster Finesmith: this is goint to take a viewer update to use?
  • [15:14] Rex Cronon: question: so we won't be able to create/edit the navmesh unless we own the land?
  • [15:14] Falcon Linden: tankma: yep
  • [15:14] Falcon Linden: rex: no
  • [15:14] Falcon Linden: rex err
  • [15:14] Falcon Linden: I mean, no, that's incorrect
  • [15:15] Falcon Linden: you will be able to create/edit the navmesh so long as you can build in the area
  • [15:15] Lorca Linden: then, within the next few weeks, we are going to be havin addition, we will create a sandbox where you can edit terrain
  • [15:15] Rex Cronon: ok
  • [15:15] Lorca Linden: it's pretty cool stuff
  • [15:16] Oskar Linden: how cool?
  • [15:16] Falcon Linden: Also, last week we updated the server code to support collisions with characters
  • [15:16] SonicAnd Miles: awesome
  • [15:16] Falcon Linden: and, as a bonus side effect, you now get collision_start and collision_end events any object, not just volume detect
  • [15:16] Falcon Linden: that said, we had to rewrite a big chunk of code around collision handling. Expect bugs. Report them. We'll try to fix them :)
  • [15:16] Coyot LindenCoyot Linden starts thinking about using pathfinding to brute force solutions to Hamiltonian cycles
  • [15:17] Lorca Linden: we are going to be copying over some new regions for testing that have more interesting geometry than the existing pathdev regions. That will also happen next week
  • [15:17] Falcon Linden: (There may be cases where we cannot maintain backwards compatibility, but we will do our best)
  • [15:18] Lorca Linden: if anyone has questions about the viewer tools (esp if you have been playing around with the LSL calls on Aditi) we also have stinson here who is a viewer dev that has worked exensively on the new floaters / nav-mesh visualization
  • [15:18] Kelly Linden: Can you further explain the new behavior for collision_start / collision_end? That is not something that was previously limited to volume detect objects as far as I am aware.
  • [15:18] Falcon Linden: Anyway, those are the announcements. Lots of little bug fixes, etc.
  • [15:18] Falcon Linden: kelly: it never occurred on anything that wasn't volume detect in my tests.
  • [15:18] Falcon Linden: you'd just get "collide"
  • [15:18] Jessica LyonJessica Lyon raises hand
  • [15:18] Kelly Linden: That has not been my experience, but I will follow up with you after this meeting if you have time.
  • [15:18] Maestro Linden: Hm, I'm pretty sure collision_start works in general...
  • [15:18] Falcon Linden: kelly: sure
  • [15:19] Falcon Linden: fine, if kelly and maestro are right, you all get NO bonus features!
  • [15:19] Falcon Linden: See?
  • [15:19] Kiosk Farrior (kiosk.farrior) is now known as Kiosk.
  • [15:19] Jessica Lyon: what/where/when in regards to the libraries for nav mesh.
  • [15:19] Kelly Linden: :D /me kills hope
  • [15:19] Jessica Lyon: ?
  • [15:19] Falcon Linden: jessica: you mean for TPVs?
  • [15:19] Lorca Linden: check this page next week (likely by Wedensday) for more info on the new regions : http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Pathfinding/Alpha_release_notes
  • [15:19] Jessica Lyon: of course silly! lol
  • [15:19] Falcon Linden: We can't comment on that yet.
  • [15:19] Jessica Lyon: sadface
  • [15:19] Draconis NeurocamDraconis Neurocam grins
  • [15:19] Lorca Linden: viewer tools info available here : http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Pathfinding_Tools_in_the_Second_Life_Viewer
  • [15:20] Falcon Linden: But it is something we have been giving considerable thought to
  • [15:20] Object: Hello, Avatar!
  • [15:20] Jessica Lyon: soonish?
  • [15:20] Flip Idlemind: Ok, so, I finally got around to visiting the path finding sims last night, and I believe I noticed a problem. (It could be nothing though.) It's not actually a problem with pathfinding, I have yet to try that out. It's a problem with jumping
  • [15:20] Falcon Linden: Lorca: perhaps you can comment further?
  • [15:20] Kadah Coba: What libs does the viewer need for this? o_ô
  • [15:20] Falcon Linden: flip: entirely possible
  • [15:20] Lorca Linden: FLIP file a bug in PATHBUG pls if you discover something not working right
  • [15:21] Falcon Linden: Oh, also: pathfinding involved upgrading havok by one or two versions (I don't even remember, heh)
  • [15:21] Flip Idlemind: Basically, if I go to one of the sims, and simply hold Page Up, I will begin to jump. Then my first jump will be "cut short" and I'll jump a second time
  • [15:21] Falcon Linden: so we'll create some sandboxes for you to test physics content in
  • [15:21] Flip Idlemind: If anyone else would like to try reproducing it, that would be great
  • [15:21] Falcon Linden: flip: file a jira :)
  • [15:22] TankMaster Finesmith: yeah for physical bug upgrades :D
  • [15:22] Flip IdlemindFlip Idlemind likes to do Flips, so jumping-related bugs would be bad for me
  • [15:22] Lorca Linden: please do file bugs as you find them with the new viewer tools
  • [15:22] Falcon Linden: and server functionality
  • [15:22] Lorca Linden: that really helps us make a more stable product for release
  • [15:23] Coyot Linden: stable == good
  • [15:23] Johan Laurasia: I'm still having alot of inventory problems, but that's all of the beta grid, not just path sims
  • [15:23] Jessica Lyon: so, just to be a pest.. getting back to the libs.. soonish? any estimate on when you'll be able to talk about that top sekrit stuffs?
  • [15:23] Coyot Linden: There are still sims on beta with the old code, Johan
  • [15:23] Coyot Linden: testing and fixing continue
  • [15:23] Lorca Linden: can't give you a date at this time Jessica
  • [15:23] Johan Laurasia: regardless of where I'm at, I can't rez pre-existing content
  • [15:24] Falcon Linden: lorca, check IRC
  • [15:24] Jessica Lyon: ok, but we're gonna keep bugging ya :)
  • [15:24] Falcon Linden: jessica: please do
  • [15:24] Lorca Linden: fair enough ;)
  • [15:24] Falcon Linden: does anyone have any questions for me?
  • [15:24] Lorca Linden: or for stinson?
  • [15:24] Coyot Linden: Why is this night different from all other nights?
  • [15:25] Coyot Linden: ;)
  • [15:25] Falcon Linden: Coyot: because on this night we recline.
  • [15:25] Jessica Lyon: actually I do have another question.. which everyone here probably already knows except me. I've had a lot of users asking if pathfinding will be useful with pets.. as in, will it NEED to have nav mesh?
  • [15:25] Rex Cronon: how high can we use the navmesh? ground lvl only?
  • [15:25] Coyot Linden: Got it in one!
  • [15:25] Draconis Neurocam: why do key framed motions objects that are stopped restart after you select them, i could see that making sense for pausing, but stopping?
  • [15:25] Lorca Linden: ok, all, then we pathfinding people are going to bounce
  • [15:25] Falcon Linden: Jessica: If a pathfinding-enabled creature finds itself without a navmesh, an event will be generated and you will be able to fall back to old behavior
  • [15:25] Jessica Lyon: old behavior being?
  • [15:25] Jessica Lyon: will it still be able to avoid obstacles for example
  • [15:25] Oskar Linden: magic
  • [15:26] Falcon Linden: draconis: as far as I know, issue PATH_CMD_STOP actually deletes the entire animation data
  • [15:26] Jessica Lyon: LOL
  • [15:26] Falcon Linden: draconis: so I have no idea
  • [15:26] Draconis Neurocam: thats not what i have found in practice
  • [15:26] Falcon Linden: jessica: no. Without a navmesh, you will need to use whatever you've used up until now for movement
  • [15:26] Falcon Linden: draconis: then file a jira :)
  • [15:26] Draconis Neurocam: will do
  • [15:26] Jessica Lyon: so, basically it will require regions with navmeshes to be usefull
  • [15:26] Falcon Linden: jessica: however, navmeshes will be utomatically generated for all outdoor areas
  • [15:26] Jessica Lyon: oh.. interesting
  • [15:26] Falcon Linden: and can be very easily created for indoor areas/platforms
  • [15:27] Maestro Linden: terrain is wakable by default
  • [15:27] Maestro Linden: walkable, bleh
  • [15:27] Jessica Lyon: but can only be created by region owners, EM's no?
  • [15:27] Maestro Linden: anybody who can build
  • [15:27] Falcon Linden: for the most part, you'll simply have to open a floater, select all the things you want your characters to walk on, and mark them in the floater.
  • [15:27] Jessica Lyon: interesting
  • [15:27] Rex Cronon: so if there is megaprim that covers all sim no navmesh will be generated automagically:)
  • [15:27] Falcon Linden: rex: if it's phantom, it won't matter
  • [15:27] Falcon Linden: otherwise, yeah
  • [15:27] Rex Cronon: ok
  • [15:27] Larre Leborski: Yep I have a question. will there be a rule for no entry of pathfinding objects on other parcels, or be some kind of control on these things to keep them from going into neighboring lands?
  • [15:27] Maestro Linden: well, you can only modify the walkability of objects you have mod rights for
  • [15:28] Maestro Linden: Just the usual "no object entry" flag, Larre
  • [15:28] Larre Leborski: Indeed.. thx :-)
  • [15:28] Johan Laurasia: And characters will actively avoid ban lines and such
  • [15:28] Falcon Linden: well, that's the goal
  • [15:28] Oskar Linden: might be hard for pets intended to be used everywhere
  • [15:29] Johan Laurasia: right, a trip to the path sims shows that's not workin' 100% lol
  • [15:29] Falcon Linden: note that the current plan involves prevents characters from crossing in OR out of a parcel that is "no entry"
  • [15:29] Falcon Linden: johan: actually, it's 0% right now :)
  • [15:29] Jessica Lyon: virtual pets/breed ables are very popular in SL. this 'could' find a great use in that area
  • [15:29] Lorca Linden: also, FYI, fairly soon we will be launching an opt-in channel on Agni for region owners interested in early access to pathfinding
  • [15:29] Falcon Linden: if virtual pets exist now (obviously, they do), then this will only provide a way to make them better
  • [15:29] Johan Laurasia: oh, I thought work was being done in that area
  • [15:29] Johan Laurasia: Yeah, Oz just mentioned making his dog path enabled when it's ready
  • [15:29] Falcon Linden: it does not prevent you from using both movements systems (whatever you used to use and pathfinding) together...just not at the same time
  • [15:30] Lorca Linden: if you want to be considered for that program, please send an email to : pathfinding-beta@lindenlab.com
  • [15:30] Rex Cronon: the problem is that if u r in a sim with a weird navmesh, your pet will have problems
  • [15:30] Falcon Linden: Johan: not quite yet, it's on the lsit :)
  • [15:30] Lorca Linden: anyone will also be able to test the new pathfinding viewer tools and LSL calls on Aditi
  • [15:30] Jessica Lyon: and damn.. RL just caught up to me. Thanks guys! Gotta go :(
  • [15:30] Falcon Linden: rex: yes, but your script will also get events that tell it something is wrong
  • [15:30] Falcon Linden: rex: and then it can fall back to legacy movement
  • [15:31] Johan Laurasia: Well a test I did was patrolling successfully
  • [15:31] Johan Laurasia: albeit slow... couldnt get the speed up no matter what.
  • [15:31] Falcon Linden: Johan: yeah, that was a bug. Fixed.
  • [15:31] Lorca Linden: I've got to go everyone, but in case you missed it the email if you want to be part of the agni opt-in channel for region owners is : pathfinding-beta@lindenlab.com
  • [15:31] Johan Laurasia: cool, I'll retest my work
  • [15:31] Johan Laurasia: caio Lorca
  • [15:31] SonicAnd Miles: I have a question about the terrain, when you guys redo it will we be able to make it so u can tunnle under it (like a cave)? just wondering. :)
  • [15:31] Lorca Linden: Thanks for the interest in pathfinding all and for helping us test. We can't wait to see the crazy things you Residents make!
  • [15:32] Falcon Linden: no, but we will be slightly closer to support proper mesh import of terrain
  • [15:32] Falcon Linden: which would allow that
  • [15:32] Falcon Linden: (note: that is not a scheduled project, however)
  • [15:32] Falcon Linden: (just one that will be slightly easier)
  • [15:32] Rex Cronon: so the script can detect if the objes is in a navmesh or not? and when it enters/exits a navmesh?
  • [15:32] SonicAnd Miles: cool
  • [15:32] TankMaster FinesmithTankMaster Finesmith will look forward to that, falcom ㋡
  • [15:32] Falcon Linden: rex: when it is on one, yes. But not when it enters an area with one. But it can query where the nearest point is that is on the navmesh
  • [15:32] Rex Cronon: if the object is in*
  • [15:32] Falcon Linden: oh, about the terrain
  • [15:32] Rex Cronon: ok
  • [15:33] Falcon Linden: (1) Terrain changes are now on a 30s delay. You'll see them immediately, but they won't affect physics for 30s after you stop modifying the terrain
  • [15:33] Flight Band: All Go
  • [15:33] Falcon Linden: (2) Terrain now uses a different internal representation (a mesh) and may have slightly different collision properties
  • [15:33] Falcon Linden: (1) is necessary because of (2), and (2) is necessary for supporting characters
  • [15:33] Rex Cronon: no more land altering bullets?
  • [15:34] Rex Cronon: i mean bombs:)
  • [15:34] Falcon Linden: *sadface*
  • [15:34] Orion Zenoria: would it in the future be possible to script the land, if wanted to?
  • [15:34] Falcon Linden: it's already possible, though it may require an extra step or two
  • [15:34] Falcon Linden: terraforming can be done via script
  • [15:34] Falcon Linden: it requires you to be in the region, though
  • [15:35] Johan Laurasia: yeah, I've seen teraforming bots
  • [15:35] Orion Zenoria: Iv seen that, I meant putting the script in the mesh of the land
  • [15:35] Falcon Linden: oh, not in the foreseeable future
  • [15:35] Falcon Linden: lots of other things to do before that :)
  • [15:36] Johan Laurasia: no, an object that modifies the land

  • [15:40] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7743] Better Administrative Control over who can Speak on Voice https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7743
  • [15:40] Johan Laurasia: Well, not pathfinding related, but why is it my avatar cannot rez on the beta grid?
  • [15:40] TankMaster Finesmith: just install it
  • [15:40] Oskar Linden: no idea Johan
  • [15:40] Johan Laurasia: It's not on my end... I've tried a few alts, all can rez no problems
  • [15:41] Johan Laurasia: is there a way to reset my inventory as if it were my 1st time on the beta grid?
  • [15:41] Kadah Coba: So I had a question about the Direct Delivery rollout next week. What changes are and are not shipping the 21st? I've being hearing conflicting info pretty much every other day since last week.
  • [15:42] Oskar Linden: yeah johan. change your agni password and wait a day
  • [15:42] Nalates Urriah: SVC-7727
  • [15:42] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7727] Aditi grid problem. After changing my password to cause my inventory on Aditi to update, my inventory no longer saves changes made to it from session to session. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7727
  • [15:42] Johan Laurasia: I've done that twice, it syncs my inventory, but doesn't solve the problem
  • [15:43] Oskar Linden: I don't have the specific details Kadah
  • [15:43] Draconis Neurocam: any idea when simon's map work will hit maingrid
  • [15:43] Kadah Coba: Darn.
  • [15:43] Nalates Urriah: There is a part of that about not being able to rez things in ADITI
  • [15:43] Oskar Linden: not sure Draconis
  • [15:43] Johan Laurasia: as a matter of fact Oskar, that's what seems to have caused it
  • [15:43] Coyot Linden: wait
  • [15:43] Coyot Linden: which map work?
  • [15:43] Draconis Neurocam: the one for tiles at the lowest level not showing up
  • [15:44] Coyot Linden: ER-1598 ?
  • [15:44] Coyot Linden: sigh
  • [15:44] Draconis Neurocam: er is not public the jira thing wont catch it
  • [15:44] Coyot Linden: [PUBLIC] Map tile generator not working
  • [15:44] Draconis Neurocam: yeah that coyot
  • [15:44] Coyot Linden shouts: SVC-7629
  • [15:44] Flame of Jira: [#SVC-7629] Map tile generator not working https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7629
  • [15:45] Coyot Linden: sorry,
  • [15:45] Coyot Linden: my keyboard went insane for a minute
  • [15:45] Coyot Linden: anyway, that one is out on the grid already
  • [15:46] Coyot Linden: it may take some time for the work queues to catch up
  • [15:46] Draconis Neurocam: huh, ill have to look again, last i did it didn't seem to be there
  • [15:46] Draconis Neurocam: ah that makes sense
  • [15:46] Coyot Linden: let me know if it is still borked next week
  • [15:46] Draconis Neurocam: will do
  • [15:46] Coyot Linden: tyvm
  • [15:47] Oskar Linden: maestro anything upcoming people might want to know about?
  • [15:47] Oskar Linden: or caleb
  • [15:48] Oskar Linden: but caleb is not here
  • [15:48] Maestro Linden: hm not really, I'm just on pathfinding, which we already covered
  • [15:48] Oskar Linden: right
  • [15:49] Rex Cronon: u guys should make this sim pathfinding enabled and bring pets here, for the oh:)
  • [15:49] Oskar Linden: :-)
  • [15:49] Oskar Linden: you are my pets
  • [15:49] Oskar Linden: and you are already here
  • [15:49] Johan Laurasia: lol

  • [15:49] SonicAnd Miles: XD
  • [15:49] Oskar Linden: :-D
  • [15:49] Homeless: lol just what we need, more moving things to distract
  • [15:49] Coyot Linden: my preeettttty!
  • [15:49] Orion ZenoriaOrion Zenoria dies laughing
  • [15:49] Nalates Urriah: our programming is unpedictable
  • [15:49] Johan Laurasia: we already have (volumetric) pathfinding skills...
  • [15:49] Oskar LindenOskar Linden scratches behind your ear
  • [15:50] Homeless: I suppose we could rez 1k mice for the kitties to chase...
  • [15:50] Draconis Neurocam: i wonder if pathfinding will be factored into the recorder in the develop menu
  • [15:50] Oskar Linden: I'll make sure to pass on the blog for the rebalancing when we post it
  • [15:50] TankMaster Finesmith: we need some pathfinding tribbels...
  • [15:50] Oskar Linden: it was truly amazing seeing how great that project worked
  • [15:51] Coyot Linden: shucks
  • [15:51] Rex Cronon: u could put a maze and have has ride a "pet" to your oh:)
  • [15:51] Oskar Linden: :-)
  • [15:51] Oskar Linden: be sure you thank Coyot for his work on it
  • [15:51] Homeless: I think think this was already asked, not sure if it was answered, will pathfinding have a height limit, say a skybox at 4000 meters?
  • [15:51] Homeless: will it work there?
  • [15:51] Rex Cronon: right what is the height limit
  • [15:51] Johan Laurasia: 4096 is the magic number I believe
  • [15:51] Johan Laurasia: for rezzing
  • [15:51] Oskar Linden: 4096 is a magic number
  • [15:52] TankMaster Finesmith: i think it only works on the ground, no?
  • [15:52] Johan Laurasia: all factors of 2 are Oskar
  • [15:52] Johan Laurasia: lol
  • [15:52] Coyot Linden: But 2 doesn't have any factors being prime... :P
  • [15:52] MartinRJ Fayray: afaik it works in skyboxes, too, tank
  • [15:52] Rex Cronon: i forgot to ask. how many navmeshes can a sim support? and if they can overlap(vertically or horizontally)
  • [15:53] Draconis Neurocam: which means the longest path in a sim would be 7094.5 rounded, from 0 to 4096 on the diagonal
  • [15:53] Maestro Linden: Oh, yes you can have multiple nav levels
  • [15:53] Grid Crash Protection Box: Motor Loon, you are now shielded from the effects of any Grid crashes which might occur!
  • [15:53] Grid Crash Protection Box: Motor Loon, you are no longer protected from the vagaries of the Grid - beware!
  • [15:53] Maestro Linden: there's probably some upper bound for the number of triangles allowed in a nav mesh,
  • [15:54] Maestro Linden: but any island of objects bigger than 100m^2 or so can have an isolated nav mesh surface
  • [15:54] Maestro Linden: and nav meshes can be multi-leveled, yes
  • [15:54] Rex Cronon: nice
  • [15:56] Coyot Linden: Folks, I gotta split. Have a great week everyone!
  • [15:56] Rex Cronon: so quiet here.
