[2018/01/18 15:07] Rex Cronon: lol . i would but is too crowd y here, and is too complicated:)
[2018/01/18 15:07] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): this weeks's updates:
[2018/01/18 15:08] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): there weren't changes to the Main Channel and RC Channels
[2018/01/18 15:08] Rex Cronon: did i miss anybody
[2018/01/18 15:08] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): 366
[2018/01/18 15:08] Rex Cronon: hi techwolf
[2018/01/18 15:09] Rex Cronon: hi kyle
[2018/01/18 15:09] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): 366 went to to main channel
[2018/01/18 15:09] Rex Cronon: what is 366?
[2018/01/18 15:10] Mazidox Linden: DRTSIM-366 is internal refactoring
[2018/01/18 15:10] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): right
[2018/01/18 15:10] Rex Cronon: oh. ok. thanks
[2018/01/18 15:10] Rex Cronon: the jira that sounds like dirt:)
[2018/01/18 15:10] Minuet Voir: You're in big big trouble for that one.
[2018/01/18 15:10] Mazidox Linden: We also updated a couple of the Agni servers with the new OS
[2018/01/18 15:11] Mazidox Linden: Well, service servers I should say, but that's a mouthful :)
[2018/01/18 15:11] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): We also ironing out a few things with baking textures on aditi, before premiering on agni
[2018/01/18 15:11] Minuet Voir: Say it, don't spray it.
[2018/01/18 15:12] Rex Cronon: i suppose u use some kind of linux and not ms server:)
[2018/01/18 15:12] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): as a reminder this is just an os update first
[2018/01/18 15:13] Mazidox Linden: To clarify, while we previously said increased resolution bakes would be part of this update, that will now be shipped separately at a later date.
[2018/01/18 15:13] Jenna Felton: I doubt LL would have to do any OS upgrade if they used MS OS
[2018/01/18 15:14] Beq Janus: Whirly was that announcement bug on the server triaged yet?
[2018/01/18 15:15] Whirly Fizzle: The group notice text bug?
[2018/01/18 15:15] Rex Cronon: oh. i missed beq. hi beq
[2018/01/18 15:15] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): yeah, we saw it
[2018/01/18 15:17] Minuet Voir: Is it fixed yet? *runs*
[2018/01/18 15:17] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): run minuet run
[2018/01/18 15:18] Minuet Voir: :P
[2018/01/18 15:18] Mazidox Linden: We're going to be putting out a change early next week to Aditi that updates the server that handles Email to IM (the reverse of IM to Email), and Email to Objects. If you have any objects that use the Email to Objects functionality, please let us know if you have any problems with them.
[2018/01/18 15:19] Whirly Fizzle: What's changing?
[2018/01/18 15:19] Mazidox Linden: We can't test Email to IM on Aditi, but we'll make sure it gets a through testing on one of our other grids before release.
[2018/01/18 15:19] Mazidox Linden: It's an OS update Whirly.
[2018/01/18 15:19] Whirly Fizzle: ahh kk
[2018/01/18 15:19] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): thanks
[2018/01/18 15:19] Beq Janus: hehe hi Rex
[2018/01/18 15:20] Minuet Voir: Oh I don't have any of those.
[2018/01/18 15:20] Rex Cronon: :)
[2018/01/18 15:20] Jenna Felton: I used to have a prim that i could send email to and request if a specified person is online so i could catch them online without being logged in all the time. But i doubt i would find that object in my inventory now
[2018/01/18 15:21] Minuet Voir: Does anyone have a script along those lines?
[2018/01/18 15:21] arton Rotaru: should be easy enough to make one
[2018/01/18 15:21] Rex Cronon: it seems faster to use sl-server script rather than email to communicate with an object
[2018/01/18 15:21] Minuet Voir: I make scripts by copy/paste
[2018/01/18 15:21] arton Rotaru: I'll make one
[2018/01/18 15:22] Minuet Voir: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Email-to-IM is this it?
[2018/01/18 15:22] Rex Cronon: there should be some somples
[2018/01/18 15:22] Rex Cronon: samples*
[2018/01/18 15:22] arton Rotaru: yeah taht should do it
[2018/01/18 15:22] Minuet Voir: thanks
[2018/01/18 15:22] Jenna Felton: is there a special test region on agni or any BS/LT sandbox is fine?
[2018/01/18 15:23] arton Rotaru: needs to change the email addy to the aditi one though
[2018/01/18 15:23] Minuet Voir: sandboxes return things don't they?
[2018/01/18 15:23] Jenna Felton: not sure what is Magnum short name :)
[2018/01/18 15:24] Mazidox Linden: M
[2018/01/18 15:24] Jenna Felton: ah, yes, autoreturn is not usefull :)
[2018/01/18 15:24] Jenna Felton: ok :)
[2018/01/18 15:25] Bugsly Linden: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group
[2018/01/18 15:25] Minuet Voir: Woohoooooooooo
[2018/01/18 15:25] Rex Cronon: last time i checked we didn't have a lsl function for a object to return itself:(
[2018/01/18 15:25] Minuet Voir: Thankies :-)
[2018/01/18 15:26] Minuet Voir: I think it's the 18th though?
[2018/01/18 15:26] Rex Cronon: :)
[2018/01/18 15:26] Mazidox Linden: So I wrote it yesterday! :p
[2018/01/18 15:27] Minuet Voir: It's awesome!
[2018/01/18 15:27] Rex Cronon: mazidox. tell the truth. u r a time traveler:)
[2018/01/18 15:27] Minuet Voir: I am tres excited.
[2018/01/18 15:28] Jenna Felton: oh i thought you can not send email to objects in aditi, so i understood that wrong :)
[2018/01/18 15:28] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): This is correct
[2018/01/18 15:28] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): email on aditi doesn't work
[2018/01/18 15:29] Minuet Voir: Yes, they said they would test on grids other than Aditi before next week.
[2018/01/18 15:29] Jenna Felton: "Please let us know if you have any trouble sending email to objects on Aditi "
[2018/01/18 15:29] Minuet Voir: I think.
[2018/01/18 15:29] Jenna Felton: that is from http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group
[2018/01/18 15:29] Mazidox Linden: I am... Pretty sure that you can send to objects, just not to agents.
[2018/01/18 15:30] Jenna Felton: ah
[2018/01/18 15:30] Jenna Felton: i will test it between inworld objects and from outside
[2018/01/18 15:30] arton Rotaru: IIRC i did sent emails on aditi, but that was ages ago
[2018/01/18 15:31] Minuet Voir: Oh thanks. object - okay; IMs - noop
[2018/01/18 15:31] arton Rotaru: key@lsl.aditi.secondlife.com or something
[2018/01/18 15:32] Jenna Felton: any region version is ok for test or only special DRTSIM version?
[2018/01/18 15:33] Mazidox Linden: Uhh DRTSIM-367 will be on DRTSIM-367. The Email to Object changes will be Aditi-wide.
[2018/01/18 15:33] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): ill make sure we got some regions on it for you to access
[2018/01/18 15:33] Jenna Felton: thank you :)
[2018/01/18 15:34] Minuet Voir: You don't mind love notes do you?
[2018/01/18 15:34] Minuet Voir: or fan mail?
[2018/01/18 15:35] Minuet Voir: okay
[2018/01/18 15:35] Minuet Voir: how about hate mail?
[2018/01/18 15:35] Mazidox Linden: If you can figure out how to get fan mail to me on Aditi, I'll honestly be impressed.
[2018/01/18 15:35] Minuet Voir: stalker mail?
[2018/01/18 15:35] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): snark mails are fine too
[2018/01/18 15:35] Mazidox Linden: No stalking please and thank you.
[2018/01/18 15:35] Minuet Voir: lol @ snark mails
[2018/01/18 15:35] Beq Janus: Grumpity doesn't like snakr, we saw that in the Jira
[2018/01/18 15:36] Rex Cronon: we should have twit 2 im, and Im 2 twit:)
[2018/01/18 15:36] Rex Cronon: or instagram:)
[2018/01/18 15:36] Beq Janus: or maybe that was Alexa, a snarky jira is a closed jira :-)
[2018/01/18 15:36] Minuet Voir: twatwaffle
[2018/01/18 15:37] Electric Wingtips: twitter's existence as a platform isn't guaranteed in the long run. Setting up a bridge server w/ httprequest and json might not be that hard though.
[2018/01/18 15:37] Electric Wingtips: flask + some stuff in those funcs would probably do fairly well, even if it isn't first party support
[2018/01/18 15:40] Mazidox Linden: Since I'm not a dev I can't really speculate with any degree of detail, but it seems to me like duct tape and bailing wire wouldn't make the cut for a new service. :)
[2018/01/18 15:40] Electric Wingtips: lel
[2018/01/18 15:40] Rex Cronon: electric, is not like any platform existence can be guaranteed in the long run...
[2018/01/18 15:40] Mazidox Linden: (Sorry, when I say service I mean "thing we expose inside Second Life to residents as something to use")
[2018/01/18 15:40] Electric Wingtips: yeah, that's why I was proposing running your own bridge instead of first party
[2018/01/18 15:40] Electric Wingtips: twitter might die in a year or two or get bought out
[2018/01/18 15:41] Electric Wingtips: from what I've heard they get can get touchy about things or bots using their API, but that might have been a phase a few years ago
[2018/01/18 15:43] Minuet Voir: I'm lost.
[2018/01/18 15:43] Electric Wingtips: tl;dr discussion of first party vs third party support for tweeting objects
[2018/01/18 15:43] Rex Cronon: u r lost?
[2018/01/18 15:45] Caleb the Cable Guy (caleb.linden): opening the floor for any other questions
[2018/01/18 15:45] Minuet Voir: Sorry, you said twit and I thought you mean idiot, so got lost in twitter talk
[2018/01/18 15:45] Rex Cronon: lol
[2018/01/18 15:46] Electric Wingtips: sorry if derailed
[2018/01/18 15:46] Electric Wingtips: *if I
[2018/01/18 15:47] Rex Cronon: i have question, but i am not sure is related to this
[2018/01/18 15:48] Mazidox Linden: You can certainly ask Rex, I just can't promise an answer :)
[2018/01/18 15:48] Mazidox Linden: (Mazidox "No Promises" Linden)
[2018/01/18 15:49] Rex Cronon: what are some good laptops for sl that don't use 1080,1070,1060, 1500 graphics card? those that use those graphics cards r like 1000 or more usd:(
[2018/01/18 15:50] Minuet Voir: lol yay!
[2018/01/18 15:50] Rex Cronon: i looked at this page: http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=718&canMyGpuRunIt=Second%20Life
[2018/01/18 15:50] Mazidox Linden: Oh, I don't have any particular advice on that front, sorry. I think there's a general tech questions board on the forums that might be able to guide you?
[2018/01/18 15:50] Rex Cronon: but it has soooooo many. lol
[2018/01/18 15:51] Kyle Linden: Sorry Rex with the shifting sands of GPU technology we really can't recommend one over another.
[2018/01/18 15:52] Rex Cronon: ok.i thought there was a big forum with the major topic was graphics cards for laptops that i didn't know about
[2018/01/18 15:52] Rex Cronon: where the major topic was*
[2018/01/18 15:52] Minuet Voir: I think there is a hardware group or two inworld
[2018/01/18 15:53] Minuet Voir: there's a Win10 group, unless you're planning to stay with XP ;-)
[2018/01/18 15:54] Rex Cronon: i don't know if i will jump right into win10. i might start with win7 first:)
[2018/01/18 15:54] Mazidox Linden: How do you even get Windows 7 these days?
[2018/01/18 15:54] Minuet Voir: nahhhhhh make the leap
[2018/01/18 15:54] Minuet Voir: I'm not sure you can.
[2018/01/18 15:54] Rex Cronon: ebay:)
[2018/01/18 15:54] Minuet Voir: ahhhh
[2018/01/18 15:55] Jenna Felton: in my PC is an integrated GPU, Intel HD 4000, and it was ok for SL, about a hour ot two and then it started to render bugs, so i use a Nvidea graphic card for SL
[2018/01/18 15:55] Rex Cronon: some older laptops come with win 7
[2018/01/18 15:55] Jenna Felton: i am not sure if laptops would be better
[2018/01/18 15:56] Whirly Fizzle: Decide on your max budget & ask on the forum
[2018/01/18 15:56] Jenna Felton: i am actually thinking to try and switch my win7 to Linux :)
[2018/01/18 15:56] Whirly Fizzle: Does it have to be a laptop though? You'll get more for your money with a desktop
[2018/01/18 15:56] Rex Cronon: something like an alienware m18x r2?
[2018/01/18 15:56] Mazidox Linden: Anyone else have any questions before we wrap up?
[2018/01/18 15:57] Rex Cronon: whirly, have u tried to drag a desktop with u:)
[2018/01/18 15:57] Minuet Voir: Jenna - FS 64 and some Intels get stuck at initializing VFS, but there's an easy workaround (not that you need it now).
[2018/01/18 15:57] Minuet Voir: Wonder if LL's new viewer will be facing that with Intels
[2018/01/18 15:58] Jenna Felton: hmm, thank you Minuet :)
[2018/01/18 15:58] Whirly Fizzle: It does. The SL_Launcher forces those intels onto 32bit. The 32bit build doesn';t use the win 10 manifest does it Kyle?
[2018/01/18 15:58] Minuet Voir: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/intel_vfs
[2018/01/18 15:58] Beq Janus: /me whispers "it might, but not on Linux *giggles*"
[2018/01/18 15:58] Rex Cronon: ok. i g2g. tc everybody and have fun:) and thank u:)
[2018/01/18 15:58] Mazidox Linden: Have a good one Rex.
[2018/01/18 15:58] Minuet Voir: Thanks Rex. You too.
[2018/01/18 15:59] Beq Janus: bye Rex
[2018/01/18 15:59] arton Rotaru: byeee
