  • [12:13] Noelle Linden: KB articles in Lithium
  • [12:13] Noelle Linden: a big thanks to the German and Spanish team
  • [12:14] Noelle Linden: who successfully published a few articles :-)
  • [12:14] Irene Muni: You're welcome :)
  • [12:14] Irene Muni: successfully... wel, more orless LOL
  • [12:14] Paulo Kahuna (devon.chaffe): I guess there's no portuguese team, right?
  • [12:14] Torben (torben.trautman): we did as *good* as Lithium let us :)
  • [12:14] Noelle Linden: well you did all the work and all I did was to click on Publish
  • [12:14] Irene Muni: Rand is fightinh with Lithium for "Contents"
  • [12:15] Irene Muni: fughting*
  • [12:15] Catwise Yoshikawa: one day headers didn't work and other it does...little crazy :p
  • [12:15] Noelle Linden: Hi Paulo, no one is doing portuguese at the time
  • [12:15] Rand (rand.linden): Torben found a related issue: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-3814
  • [12:15] Noelle Linden: in the community, so if you would like to help, please do !!
  • [12:15] Ourasi Ferraris: ⊙BrB ⊙
  • [12:15] Irene Muni: I cannot see that JIRA, Permission Violation :(
  • [12:15] Rand (rand.linden): This might be the cause of the some of the problems. We are asking Lithium about it...
  • [12:16] Rand (rand.linden): weird...Torben opened it...should be visible to all?
  • [12:16] Youri Ashton: torben might be logged in
  • [12:16] Irene Muni: Is that a restricted JIRA? Torben, do you love me? LOL
  • [12:16] Rand (rand.linden): oh yeah, you have to be logged in
  • [12:16] Youri Ashton: we all love you irene ^_^
  • [12:16] Irene Muni: I'm logged
  • [12:16] Rand (rand.linden): to sl.com
  • [12:16] Torben (torben.trautman): I set it to Linden & Reporter
  • [12:16] Torben (torben.trautman): let me change that
  • [12:16] Rand (rand.linden): ah
  • [12:16] Catwise Yoshikawa: i'm loged and can't see it :p
  • [12:17] Irene Muni: Torben, no kudos for you!!! :(
  • [12:17] Irene Muni: LOL
  • [12:17] Rand (rand.linden): Torben's going to fix
  • [12:17] Torben (torben.trautman): there you go :)
  • [12:17] Youri Ashton: i can not login atm, im on my laptop atm, less SL crashes
  • [12:17] Torben (torben.trautman): should work now
  • [12:17] Youri Ashton: /me curses ATI
  • [12:17] Catwise Yoshikawa: yes, it works now
  • [12:17] Irene Muni: It works now :)
  • [12:17] Rand (rand.linden): Basically, Lithium appears to strip inline CSS styling from HTML
  • [12:18] Rand (rand.linden): e.g.
  • [12:18] Rand (rand.linden): <div style="border: 1px solid #aaaaaa; background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% #ffffaa; padding: 10px 10px 5px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; width: 500px;....;"> ...</div> just gets changed to <div> ... </div>
  • [12:18] Noelle Linden: not good
  • [12:18] Irene Muni: Buf... You are the Lindens, but I'm not sure Lithiium is a good system for the KB.
  • [12:19] Irene Muni: But that is another meeting :)
  • [12:19] Rand (rand.linden): I agree, Irene, but it is what we have been told to use...
  • [12:19] Rand (rand.linden): yes
  • [12:19] Youri Ashton: it sure adds a lot of confusion to what to translate and what now for some of us
  • [12:19] Paulo Kahuna (devon.chaffe): I'm an expert in KB, that's my RL job, and definitelly Lithium isn't the best tool
  • [12:19] Irene Muni: OK, go ahead with Lithium, I have been knowledged 3 KBs in my SL life :)
  • [12:19] Youri Ashton: not everyone in the translator team knows teh basics of html and css coding
  • [12:19] Torben (torben.trautman): Rand: I was thinking maybe this is a security precaution for external accounts as it was with the header settings
  • [12:20] Rand (rand.linden): Yes, the doc team told everyone that, but the decision was already made. So, we soldier on!
  • [12:20] Irene Muni: LOL
  • [12:20] Noelle Linden: Youri, you do not need to know html or css coding to translate in Lithium
  • [12:20] Rand (rand.linden): Torben: Possible
  • [12:20] Rand (rand.linden): I haven't heard anything back from Lithium yet
  • [12:20] Irene Muni: Youri, in http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Community_Platform_KB_Translation_Project there is a step by step guide
  • [12:21] Irene Muni: I can understand that guide, so everybodu can XD
  • [12:21] Irene Muni: everybody*
  • [12:21] Ourasi Ferraris: back (sorry it was my neightbour^^)
  • [12:21] Noelle Linden: also, if you try to localize an article, and do not quite understand how still, Irene offered to help
  • [12:21] Torben (torben.trautman): :)
  • [12:21] Noelle Linden: walk through the process
  • [12:21] Irene Muni: yes, Irene offered to help: L$100/hour XD
  • [12:22] Youri Ashton: just making sure that it is usable by everyone of us, so we dont end up doing things twice or more
  • [12:22] Noelle Linden: ahhhhh :-)
  • [12:22] Noelle Linden: good deal
  • [12:22] Irene Muni: :)
  • [12:22] Irene Muni: Money is money XD
  • [12:22] Noelle Linden: time is money
  • [12:22] Torben (torben.trautman): I have a question: When linking to content that is (and will be) only available in english, is it appropriate to add a "warning" to a localized article? For example, How to report a bug or request a feature deals with JIRA. The JIRA UI is partially localized so I use localized pictures. When it comes to a bug report or a feature request, I would like to add a hint to the translation that both must be in english.
  • [12:22] Catwise Yoshikawa: or a free sim :p
  • [12:22] Irene Muni: XD
  • [12:22] Torben (torben.trautman): ?
  • [12:23] Torben (torben.trautman): :)
  • [12:23] Rand (rand.linden): Good question, Torben
  • [12:23] Noelle Linden: I think so Torben
  • [12:23] Noelle Linden: typically we use (EN) next to the link
  • [12:23] Rand (rand.linden): Perhaps just put (English) in the link text?
  • [12:23] Noelle Linden: that indicates the content of the page is in English
  • [12:23] Rand (rand.linden): Or...what Noelle said :-)
  • [12:23] Torben (torben.trautman): this is a special case
  • [12:23] Torben (torben.trautman): for links we use (en)
  • [12:24] Torben (torben.trautman): but we want to tell residents that they can NOT write bug reports in german
  • [12:24] Torben (torben.trautman): or spanish
  • [12:24] Noelle Linden: oh I see
  • [12:24] Noelle Linden: I think it is safe to mention it
  • [12:24] Rand (rand.linden): oh...
  • [12:25] Irene Muni: In The Spanish article we have added a "pevious note" about that: you can see the JIRA in Spanish, but you must write in English.
  • [12:25] Noelle Linden: something like "bug reports have to be written in English only"
  • [12:25] Irene Muni: "previous note"*
  • [12:25] Rand (rand.linden): Yes, that sounds OK to me
  • [12:25] Torben (torben.trautman): k
  • [12:25] Noelle Linden: thank you for asking Torben
  • [12:26] Noelle Linden: any other outstanding issue in Lithium you would like to mention?
  • [12:26] Irene Muni: )BTW I can publisg the log of the meeting)
  • [12:26] Irene Muni: publish*
  • [12:26] Noelle Linden: thank you Irene
  • [12:26] Irene Muni: YW
  • [12:26] Torben (torben.trautman): I have a hard time with the workflow
  • [12:27] Torben (torben.trautman): for now it´s easy
  • [12:27] Torben (torben.trautman): but I have no idea how we are going to keep track of changes
  • [12:27] Noelle Linden: you mean how we will stay on top of updates?
  • [12:27] Torben (torben.trautman): yes
  • [12:27] Noelle Linden: when the US article changes?
  • [12:27] Irene Muni: About that, we need urgently links between translated articles.
  • [12:27] Torben (torben.trautman): yes, that for example
  • [12:28] Catwise Yoshikawa: yes
  • [12:28] Noelle Linden: I am not sure, I will let Rand answer
  • [12:28] Irene Muni: Go Rand! bLOL
  • [12:28] Irene Muni: Noelle gives the ball to Rand, and Rand.... XD
  • [12:28] Rand (rand.linden): haha
  • [12:29] Torben (torben.trautman): you have the right to remain silent :)
  • [12:29] Noelle Linden: Rand, will your team keep a list of updated articles and share with us?
  • [12:29] Noelle Linden: lol
  • [12:29] Rand (rand.linden): We are using Jira for task tracking... easiest would be to use Jira
  • [12:29] Irene Muni: jira?
  • [12:29] Paulo Kahuna (devon.chaffe): i would suggest jira too, it is a tracking platform
  • [12:29] Torben (torben.trautman): that leads to my next question :)
  • [12:29] Rand (rand.linden): But right now, DOC jiras are not publicly visible
  • [12:29] Rand (rand.linden): So, I am going to suggest we change that
  • [12:30] Rand (rand.linden): We're also putting the articles that are ready for translation in the wiki page...
  • [12:30] Torben (torben.trautman): can we maybe change the CT JIRA so we move all localization things there?
  • [12:30] Torben (torben.trautman): like all the VWR bugs
  • [12:31] Catwise Yoshikawa: we should have a link to translated articles
  • [12:31] Catwise Yoshikawa: in the english version
  • [12:31] Irene Muni: sorry for my ignorance, jiras for to know what articles are translated and the links betwwen articles, jiras for uodated articles?
  • [12:31] Noelle Linden: I think keeping a list of updated articles on the wiki would be easier
  • [12:31] Torben (torben.trautman): Rand: maybe you can add the Translator group or the Translator2 group to see the DOC project?
  • [12:31] Catwise Yoshikawa: guess we are talking about 2 things :p
  • [12:31] Rand (rand.linden): Good idea, Torben
  • [12:31] Irene Muni: sorry, but jiras???? I think it's easier the wiki :)
  • [12:31] Rand (rand.linden): Yes, two topics here.
  • [12:31] Irene Muni: only one resoruce, please LOL
  • [12:32] Rand (rand.linden): Irene: Jira for tracking changes to translated articles
  • [12:32] Rand (rand.linden): You think the wiki is easier
  • [12:32] Rand (rand.linden): ?
  • [12:32] Noelle Linden: oh I see
  • [12:32] Irene Muni: yes, but I think changs can be writed in the wiki :)
  • [12:32] Torben (torben.trautman): Irene, we had that: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/CT_Project_Overview/1#A
  • [12:32] Catwise Yoshikawa: there is a wiki with that info now, isn't it ?
  • [12:32] Noelle Linden: jira is best to track changes
  • [12:32] Torben (torben.trautman): but it didn´t really work out well
  • [12:32] Paulo Kahuna (devon.chaffe): jira is the natural tool for any IT changes
  • [12:32] Irene Muni: ok, jira, more emails :(
  • [12:33] Torben (torben.trautman): the pure amount of articles is too overwhelming for a wiki overview
  • [12:33] Noelle Linden: I am sorry but I need to leave
  • [12:33] Torben (torben.trautman): oh oh, Noelle on the run
  • [12:33] Torben (torben.trautman): /me waves bye bye
  • [12:33] Noelle Linden: do you want to continue this conversation next week?
  • [12:33] Youri Ashton: bye bye noelle :)
  • [12:33] Rand (rand.linden): So, we have a Jira issue for each KB article, and the state of the Jira reflects the state of the article. We should be able to devise some simple Jira queries that will list articles ready for trans...
  • [12:33] Rand (rand.linden): Bye Noelle!
  • [12:33] Irene Muni: by Noelle, greetings!
  • [12:33] Rand (rand.linden): Torben - going back to the issue you reported.... Lithium asks the following: "When they try to post that HTML, are they able to submit it and find parts of the HTML have been removed when they try to edit or does it return an invalid HTML error and then remove some tags before the post is ever submitted?"
  • [12:33] Catwise Yoshikawa: bye
  • [12:33] Ourasi Ferraris: bye Noelle
  • [12:34] Paulo Kahuna (devon.chaffe): bye noelle
  • [12:34] Ourasi Ferraris: ㋡
  • [12:34] Ourasi Ferraris: bon app
  • [12:34] Paulo Kahuna (devon.chaffe): au revoir
  • [12:34] Noelle Linden: sorry for leaving early....
  • [12:34] Irene Muni: a jira for each article????? well, I need a beer LOL
  • [12:34] Rand (rand.linden): Yeah, I know
  • [12:34] Youri Ashton: kinda cant keep my eyes open, so no worries
  • [12:34] Noelle Linden: thank you all
  • [12:34] Rand (rand.linden): It seems like overkill...
  • [12:34] Noelle Linden: see you next week
  • [12:34] Rand (rand.linden): To be clear , I mean one Jira for each ENGLISH aritlce
  • [12:34] Torben (torben.trautman): Rand: I can copy/paste it from a Linden article into a new article
  • [12:34] Irene Muni: next week???? Eastern in Europe :)
  • [12:34] Youri Ashton: been working on some things for 3 days straight without sleep
  • [12:35] Torben (torben.trautman): but when I save it I get the error message

  • [12:36] Torben (torben.trautman): when Lindens update an article they create a jira and then we maybe find out and can adjust the localized one

  • [12:39] Irene Muni: LOL; no problem with you Rand :)
  • [12:39] Torben (torben.trautman): Rand: I hve a question about the labels
  • [12:39] Rand (rand.linden): ah .. right ... yeah, i wasn't responsible for THAT! :-)
  • [12:39] Torben (torben.trautman): let me find it
  • [12:39] Rand (rand.linden): ok
  • [12:39] Torben (torben.trautman): Can we have a google doc or something alike to localize the available Labels? Some labels are missing in german and some localized labels have a unfortunate connotation. For example "Getting started" is translated as "Anfänger" in german. "Anfänger"means noob which most probably isn´t intended.
  • [12:39] Irene Muni: If your¡ were respoonsible for that, you were death Rand ZXD
  • [12:40] Rand (rand.linden): :-)
  • [12:40] Rand (rand.linden): hm
