  • [13:05 SLT] Youri Ashton: so, whats the topic fo today?
  • [13:05 SLT] Alley McNally: lol
  • [13:05 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: Not yet
  • [13:05 SLT] Alley McNally: you didn't on me
  • [13:06 SLT] Wolfgang Fackler: Fruitbowl linden?
  • [13:06 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: You're dangling your toes
  • [13:06 SLT] Alley McNally: :D
  • [13:06 SLT] xstorm Radek: will there ever be a way to llok up texture on the webpage thats is in SL ?
  • [13:06 SLT] xstorm Radek: look
  • [13:06 SLT] Torley Linden: well certainly, a big topic today is the impeding KB2Wiki Pilot, to be launched soon!
  • [13:07 SLT] Torley Linden: http://tr.im/kb2wiki has more info if you need to catch up/refresh
  • [13:07 SLT] Alley McNally: ooo
  • [13:07 SLT] Torley Linden: this is aimed at making it easier to access our help articles & resources, and simpler to share them, too
  • [13:08 SLT] Jon Linden: not to mention contribute to them!
  • [13:08 SLT] Erinyse Planer: this aso is suppsoed to keep them more secure right?
  • [13:08 SLT] Torley Linden: YES!!!!! BIG POINT!
  • [13:08 SLT] Torley Linden: this morning we had another meeting working out some of the final migration details. over time we hope to be teaching & guiding reviewers — you'll be able to opt-in if you want to actively edit articles for awesomeness
  • [13:08 SLT] Erinyse Planer: what will be the requirements?
  • [13:09 SLT] Jon Linden: requirements to be a reviewer?
  • [13:09 SLT] Youri Ashton: anyone want Alexa Linden's bear? she is nearby :)
  • [13:10 SLT] Torley Linden: one requirement is practical proof: your existing history of edits on the wiki. for instance, if you've created a whole bunch of useful stuff and updated numerous pages, or translated some, that's a good sign.
  • [13:10 SLT] Alley McNally: mee!!!
  • [13:10 SLT] Torley Linden: it's never too late to get started editing, either. i started doing wiki pages to compile answers to questions i was repeatedly asked. some people are more into the technical (e.g., scripting) side while others are great community organizers. there's room for a diversity of contributions.
  • [13:10 SLT] Erinyse Planer: and if we're more involved on the jira or ust have a hsitory of editing one particular wiki page? would that count?
  • [13:11 SLT] Jeremy Linden: I'd like to point out that everyone will still have the ability to edit wiki articles; there's just going to be an extra step now, where edits to KB articles will require review by a Reviewer before they become the "stable" public version.
  • [13:11 SLT] Kate Linden: We would also like to communicate with content creators who plan to utilize KB wiki links in cool products. If you are interested, we can add you to the Second Life Documentation group.
  • [13:11 SLT] Torley Linden: ^ yup yup, great to remember
  • [13:12 SLT] Torley Linden: some people have written good notecards or external blogs but haven't "transitioned" to the wiki, so no matter what the medium, if you've been helpful — that's the key thing.
  • [13:12 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: Is this a way to promote SL communities with their own wiki pages?
  • [13:12 SLT] Torley Linden: the wiki isn't for spam (overly aggressive and repetitive promotion) but SL communities are certainly welcome to share their culture and traditions!
  • [13:12 SLT] Torley Linden: e.g., http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Culture
  • [13:13 SLT] Jon Linden: SL communities have never had KB articles; i imagine whatever activity they've been up to on the wiki will remain that way
  • [13:13 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: My SL community has it's own wiki pages - would they be able to be linked in some way?
  • [13:13 SLT] Marianne McCann: Torley - could that include, say, the mainland communities that have formed their microcultures (Bay City, for example, or Nova Albion), or should that be specific to broacer cultures (furries, kids, etc.?)
  • [13:13 SLT] Jon Linden: there's probably already an index of SL communities on the wiki
  • [13:13 SLT] Marianne McCann: broader*
  • [13:13 SLT] Torley Linden: yeah, there are "clusters" of stuff depending on special interest.
  • [13:13 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: ok
  • [13:14 SLT] Torley Linden: yes Mari, and start new pages for where they don't exist already. both specific and general contexts are welcome! those won't be part of the Knowledge Base to Wiki Pilot per se, but will be part of the broader wiki.
  • [13:14 SLT] Marianne McCann: (Or is there a better spot for those mainland communities in some other category)
  • [13:14 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: We hav user: entries for avatars, so groups might also qual. Whatthe attitude for that is, I think his would be goodp lace to ask
  • [13:14 SLT] Erinyse Planer: aside from agendas i havent edited allot of the wiki, but i'ld like to work on possibly doing some wiki pages that better help those trying to use the jira, and also some for providing an outside way to help track some things in the jira. trouble is i dont know how/where to start. is there someone that i can talk to at LL?
  • [13:14 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: Althouh the Empyrical metod also has virtue
  • [13:15 SLT] Torley Linden: everyone who logs into the wiki has their own userpage where they can list their interests. it's like an extended profile. groups can be descriped there, too.
  • [13:15 SLT] xstorm Radek: OMG!!
  • [13:15 SLT] Youri Ashton: interresting
  • [13:15 SLT] xstorm Radek: log in to a wiki ?
  • [13:15 SLT] Youri Ashton: ugh, chat lagggggggggggggg >.<
  • [13:15 SLT] Torley Linden: Erinyse, i'd attend the bug triage office hours, and Alexa is a great point of contact for that. there are some existing wiki pages about JIRA.
  • [13:15 SLT] Torley Linden: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage
  • [13:16 SLT] Torley Linden: the world is so big now so there are special interest groups for many things. if something doesn't exist, maybe start you own! lead the way! =)
  • [13:16 SLT] Yann Dufaux: hu? bugs triage?
  • [13:16 SLT] Torley Linden: *your own
  • [13:16 SLT] Alley McNally: hehe
  • [13:16 SLT] Erinyse Planer: torely im not allowed :(
  • [13:16 SLT] Yann Dufaux: hmm, with too much coffee i'm ready :)
  • [13:16 SLT] xstorm Radek: i have yet to get it to log me in with out my browser having problems i think my browser hates my server
  • [13:17 SLT] Torley Linden: @Erinyse why not?
  • [13:17 SLT] Menno Ophelia: Hi all
  • [13:17 SLT] Torley Linden: hey Menno! long time no see inworld
  • [13:17 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: Hi Menno
  • [13:17 SLT] Yann Dufaux: hi torley how are you? :)
  • [13:17 SLT] Niky Zenovka: Hi Menno
  • [13:17 SLT] Menno Ophelia: Likewise..saw your tweet and wanted to drop by
  • [13:17 SLT] Kate Linden: Hi Menno, nice to see you again :)
  • [13:17 SLT] Torley Linden: pretty awesome, Yann, and you?
  • [13:17 SLT] Menno Ophelia: Hi Kate :)
  • [13:18 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: This is a good place to sit, before Torley's Tweet
  • [13:18 SLT] Yann Dufaux: Torley i,m fine thx exepte this weekend but its okey :)
  • [13:18 SLT] Dawny Daviau loves Torleys tweets ^^
  • [13:18 SLT] Alley McNally: lol
  • [13:18 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: Torley's our Technical Tweet Terminal
  • [13:18 SLT] Dawny Daviau: lol
  • [13:19 SLT] Torley Linden: =)
  • [13:19 SLT] Niky Zenovka: Jeremy Linden* lmao *Jeremy Linden
  • [13:19 SLT] Torley Linden: gotta use the tools for what they're worth.
  • [13:19 SLT] Alley McNally: yup
  • [13:19 SLT] Youri Ashton: Torley, have a fork? Nells wants to eat Jon :p
  • [13:19 SLT] Al Sonic: S)
  • [13:19 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: Noo you need a spoon Youri
  • [13:19 SLT] Nells Huntress: spork*
  • [13:19 SLT] Al Sonic: X)
  • [13:19 SLT] Jon Linden: you may find this jello to be lacking in nutrition
  • [13:19 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: ah but the fruit!!
  • [13:19 SLT] Erinyse Planer: torely i responded via im. i hope thats okay
  • [13:19 SLT] Youri Ashton: lol
  • [13:19 SLT] Nells Huntress: jello doesnt need nutrition
  • [13:20 SLT] Jon Linden: not to disappoint
  • [13:20 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: I just need a spot of cream on top
  • [13:20 SLT] Basic Chair: Right click me and choose 'Sit Here' to sit down
  • [13:20 SLT] Yann Dufaux: oh, tribal music mix i love this :)
  • [13:20 SLT] Torley Linden: thanks Erinyse, i saw it.
  • [13:21 SLT] Yann Dufaux: well, i have noticed an thing about invisible avatar bugs ..
  • [13:21 SLT] Jon Linden: we're not really a bug triage group, yann (sorry)
  • [13:21 SLT] Yann Dufaux: if i desactive my avatar impostor, i don't have this bugs
  • [13:21 SLT] Jon Linden: i mean, go ahead and tell us, but we're not going to be able to do a whole lot with it
  • [13:21 SLT] Arawn Spitteler doesn't recommend eating Jon, as he's learned to Sing. Magnificent Wilf is the literary reference, for those of you who never rad.
  • [13:21 SLT] Alley McNally: lol
  • [13:22 SLT] Yann Dufaux: hey bonsoir Laurent comment vas-tu? :)
  • [13:22 SLT] Alley McNally thinks jellos are very tasty.
  • [13:22 SLT] Laurent Bechir: bonsoir, bien et toi ?
  • [13:22 SLT] Torley Linden: Yann, i've seen that too on occasion. someone's avatar will be invisible until i zoom closer.
  • [13:22 SLT] Yann Dufaux: très bien merci :)
  • [13:22 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: Bonsoir Laurent
  • [13:22 SLT] Arawn Spitteler wonders if a snging Tri-Colour Jello is available.
  • [13:23 SLT] Niky Zenovka: Yes... happening to me too... Avatar Impostors off and its fixed
  • [13:23 SLT] Youri Ashton: Ow, might be nice to tell to everyone here since I had this conversation AFTER everyone left @ Pathfinder's meeting. Myself and 2 others are working on a house that is specially designed to help out handicapped people, specially blind people. The walls will so to say 'talk' to a HUD for example and the HUD on it's turn will give sound to the user only
  • [13:23 SLT] Yann Dufaux: Torley yes but if you desctive your avatar impostor options for one week can you said me if you see this bugs again?
  • [13:23 SLT] Torley Linden: Yann, i haven't seen that bug with impostors off.
  • [13:23 SLT] Torley Linden: whoa a werewolf just jumped over me!
  • [13:24 SLT] Youri Ashton: this will be realised specially for a meeting and later on further working on so everyone can use it without any problems, so handicapped people will have a propper house as well without bumping into walles for example
  • [13:24 SLT] Youri Ashton: techie, down boy, else we have to put you back in the cage :p
  • [13:24 SLT] Stacey Luminos: that is very cool Youri
  • [13:25 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: Does turning avatar imposters off make rezzing avs look Ruthed?
  • [13:25 SLT] Youri Ashton: one of the residents helping me realizing this, is actually a friend of me that can not see, also is legally blind
  • [13:25 SLT] Jeremy Linden: I'm pretty sure Ruth is gone forever. The particle clouds are not related to Avatar Impostors.
  • [13:25 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: A blin person in wold? Te Helen KellerAccomodation Cllege s inteested
  • [13:26 SLT] Youri Ashton: more blind people in SL then you know ;)
  • [13:26 SLT] Marianne McCann ended up ruthed the other day, with no particle cloud to hide me
  • [13:26 SLT] Jeremy Linden: Marianne, are you using one of our viewers?
  • [13:26 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: There is a debug setting which makes clouds show again as Ruths - I prefer clouds, so that's why I was asking about avatar imposters ... :)
  • [13:26 SLT] Youri Ashton: I think I can get pathfinder as well to help out on this specific project
  • [13:26 SLT] Marianne McCann: Jeremy - Main viewer, Second Life 1.22.11
  • [13:26 SLT] WidgetHUD v1.2 (Mono): Marianne McCann has pinged you.
  • [13:26 SLT] Al Sonic: It's RenderUnloadedAvatar you're interestted in.
  • [13:26 SLT] Arawn Spitteler's hoping deaf people can be seeing eye avies for the blind, even if justas an RPG
  • [13:27 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: Yes thats the debug setting I don't like. So am I right that avatar imposters is nothing to do with that ...
  • [13:27 SLT] Erinyse Planer: arawn, thats been done in sl already :)
  • [13:27 SLT] Youri Ashton: the couch bites Torley? ;)
  • [13:27 SLT] Alley McNally: that is really cool project Arawn
  • [13:27 SLT] Torley Linden: I just had to relog, setting some debug settings earlier had borked me up.
  • [13:28 SLT] Youri Ashton: wb :)
  • [13:28 SLT] Torley Linden: I'm often running with experimental settings on and various tweaks for testing/videos.
  • [13:28 SLT] Trevyn Dragovar: does that mean those of us who are deaf can get them to come transcribe voice content for areas that insist on using voice?
  • [13:28 SLT] Marianne McCann: Hey Daniel!
  • [13:28 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: Avatar Imposter seems no longer an optin, forme. I used o be a proble
  • [13:28 SLT] Daniel Voyager: hey :)
  • [13:28 SLT] Alley McNally: hmmm
  • [13:28 SLT] Youri Ashton: I noticed torley, perhaps a good idea though to do this meeting with a normal unchanged viewer :p
  • [13:28 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: I got ad, ovr why I couldn't join BSI, and decided to do somethng abot it.
  • [13:29 SLT] Jeremy Linden is on the RC viewer.
  • [13:29 SLT] Torley Linden: I'm on 1.23 main Viewer right now.
  • [13:29 SLT] Alley McNally: I have seen programs that do that, but so far the results aren't the best. I use stuff like that irl and I am not always happy with the result
  • [13:29 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: I haven't downloaded the main 1.23 viewer yet. Was the bug in the 1.23 RC where groups did not show on the av piechart sorted out?
  • [13:29 SLT] Marianne McCann: Yes, Tourma
  • [13:30 SLT] Jeremy Linden sees groups now.
  • [13:30 SLT] Erinyse Planer: they added groups back in though, many users are having issues tih the new chard
  • [13:30 SLT] Torley Linden: There are also lists of what gets fixed with each version.
  • [13:30 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: .
  • [13:30 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: ty
  • [13:30 SLT] Al Sonic: Groups is indeed there, I see it.
  • [13:30 SLT] Youri Ashton: Second Life 1.23.3 Nightly for me at this moment, got 3 other viewers
  • [13:30 SLT] Torley Linden: On a misc. note if anyone needs help moving a build from one region to another, to go along with Zindra/Adult Content, here's a guide! http://tr.im/movebuild
  • [13:30 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: Deaf Peoplehave software, to transcribe Voice, but blind people doing so, would sill be alot better.
  • [13:31 SLT] Erinyse Planer: im nto moving mine.
  • [13:31 SLT] Erinyse Planer: i refuse to be ghettoed *shrugs*
  • [13:31 SLT] Alley McNally: true
  • [13:31 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: Is the Zindra Ghetto something o do wth Australian Censoship?
  • [13:31 SLT] Erinyse Planer: ill temrinate my premium account before ill pay LL land tiers to go there torley
  • [13:31 SLT] CodeZero Bulloch: I have a question, on the new viewer how come adult content is grayed out? and you cant select it?
  • [13:31 SLT] Alley McNally: human ear is far superior to any program
  • [13:31 SLT] Torley Linden: "Ghetto" is unfortunately an inaccurate and sensationalist way to describe it without being aware of what's actually going on.
  • [13:32 SLT] Jon Linden: what torley said
  • [13:32 SLT] Erinyse Planer: ive been involved torely. sorry but i feel its the only appropriate word
  • [13:32 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: Austraia has a law, prohibiting sites from linking to banned sites, and the list of banned sies is hat go Wikileaks banned.
  • [13:32 SLT] Alley McNally: I have been very concerned about the adult thing
  • [13:32 SLT] Jeremy Linden: You cannot view Adult Content unless you are age verified and have selected the appropriate maturity level in your viewer (starting in 1.23)
  • [13:32 SLT] Menno Ophelia: I haven't really ? Adult content is not part of my sl
  • [13:33 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: http://www.WikiLeaks.org
  • [13:33 SLT] CodeZero Bulloch: I am age verified and I still cant select it
  • [13:33 SLT] xstorm Radek: i think it is impotent that there be a program that can turn voice in to text in sl in time for all the people that can not hear
  • [13:33 SLT] Alley McNally: so it won't be as simple as with mature content?
  • [13:33 SLT] Al Sonic: It should be settable in Preferences then CodeZero?
  • [13:33 SLT] Yann Dufaux: hmm, i love this universal translator :)
  • [13:33 SLT] Torley Linden: xstorm, I'm open to someone developing and innovating in that area. Current ways of transcribing voice-to-text tend to be quite CPU-intensive and inaccurate with specific terms unless trained. A lot.
  • [13:33 SLT] Alley McNally: me too
  • [13:33 SLT] Erinyse Planer: over half of all age verified accounts are not properly set
  • [13:33 SLT] Alley McNally: what?
  • [13:33 SLT] Jeremy Linden: On the General tab of the Preferences window, there is a setting called "Rating" that you must set to "PG, Mature and Adult" in order to view Adult regions and search results.
  • [13:34 SLT] Laurent Bechir: how do you do to keep the maturity level if you change for an older viewer ? Are this settings stored on the server ? People have asked me question about that
  • [13:34 SLT] Youri Ashton: voice-to-text is already in use, not sure in what form, but that blind friend is using it
  • [13:34 SLT] Youri Ashton: Pathfinder should know more about it
  • [13:34 SLT] Torley Linden: Youri, I've heard of ways to do it with external apps like Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
  • [13:34 SLT] Torley Linden: But it hasn't really been integrated into Second Life yet.
  • [13:35 SLT] Erinyse Planer: thats one one of my friends use.
  • [13:35 SLT] Erinyse Planer: she likes it
  • [13:35 SLT] Youri Ashton: could be, thats why I siad that Pathfinder should know more :p
  • [13:35 SLT] xstorm Radek: vista has it built in to there OS
  • [13:35 SLT] Torley Linden: Pathfinder's very knowledgeable about such things, however — http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Accessibility always welcomes info.
  • [13:35 SLT] xstorm Radek: but its still not that good yet
  • [13:35 SLT] xstorm Radek: may be i will bug pathfinder on it :-)
  • [13:36 SLT] Youri Ashton: ow yeah, just found the wiki link for that event i was talking about: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Helen_Keller_Day
  • [13:36 SLT] Trevyn Dragovar: voice to text does well with taking what you say and turning it into text, but it's not sophisticated enough to listen to the computer's speakers and turn that back into text
  • [13:36 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: There's a lot of software development inerfacintg with Philosophy, on that point. Blaylock quotes, "Time flies lke an rrow, but Fruit Flies like a bannana."
  • [13:36 SLT] Trevyn Dragovar: especially with multiple speakers also talking at the same time
  • [13:37 SLT] Torley Linden: I've heard about the forthcoming Hellen Keller events in Second Life!
  • [13:37 SLT] Torley Linden: Trevyn, that tends to be more of a matter of audio routing and clarity.
  • [13:37 SLT] xstorm Radek: willow told me about it :-)
  • [13:37 SLT] Trevyn Dragovar nods
  • [13:38 SLT] Alley McNally: wow the evnt sounds fun
  • [13:38 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: ShouldI ask PAthfider about that?
  • [13:38 SLT] Erinyse Planer: torely do you know if LL going is to relent and let private islands police themselves for ac?
  • [13:38 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: AC?
  • [13:38 SLT] Erinyse Planer: adult content
  • [13:38 SLT] Torley Linden: Erinyse, that question's founded on a false presupposition, I can't answer that.
  • [13:39 SLT] Torley Linden: I recommend reading http://blogs.secondlife.com and all the info @ http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Adult_content for the latest official news.
  • [13:39 SLT] Youri Ashton: I heared some very famous singer will be there for a concert as well, not sure if that still will happen tho, it was weeks ago when it was discussed for the first time
  • [13:39 SLT] Torley Linden: Links to Knowledge Base articles are there, too.
  • [13:40 SLT] Al Sonic: Yeah the whole thing's controversial... truthfully I'm not fully comfortable with it yet.
  • [13:40 SLT] Alley McNally: frankily I am glad that the children who sneak on the grid can't go to sex places, but it still does makes me worry about it
  • [13:40 SLT] Erinyse Planer: alley, ive personally caught three age verified rl minors
  • [13:41 SLT] Alley McNally: I know
  • [13:41 SLT] Alley McNally: I have caught minors before
  • [13:41 SLT] Menno Ophelia: maybe i am to mellow about it..you find in second life what you seek..and people who search for adult content will find it everywhere in or not in second life
  • [13:41 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: If a kidwants o smoke, or drink, give'em the strong stuff
  • [13:41 SLT] Alley McNally: its not quite as lower hanging fruit
  • [13:41 SLT] Youri Ashton: i have not caughed any minors this year, i did suspect a few though
  • [13:42 SLT] Alley McNally: I don't like that at all
  • [13:42 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: We get about one a day coming onto Help Island Public - that's the ones we notice
  • [13:42 SLT] Alley McNally: I understand if they don't like the teen grid, but there is a reason why they are not supposed to be here
  • [13:42 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: I mean when I am there, of course. I expect there are many others
  • [13:42 SLT] Alley McNally: I'm afraid I don't go there often
  • [13:43 SLT] Torley Linden: Self-admission of being underage is grounds for our RESI Team to check it out; speculating because someone "types like a kid" or "sounds young" often isn't accurate.
  • [13:43 SLT] Erinyse Planer shrugs "if i suspect one, i turn it over to the department i worked for, they check, and if its a minor they alert LL. so far not a single one was removed. "
  • [13:43 SLT] Youri Ashton: I think its good to give the teens more to do on teen grid outside of the things that are done by LL now
  • [13:44 SLT] Alley McNally: I've never been on that grid
  • [13:44 SLT] Alley McNally: I don't really know what it is like
  • [13:44 SLT] Al Sonic: Good thought Youri.
  • [13:44 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: The idenfiication or suspicion of a minor is done when the use Voice. An abuse report is sent to LL then.
  • [13:45 SLT] Torley Linden: Yes, you can certainly report your concerns to have them checked out!
  • [13:45 SLT] Menno Ophelia: i know it is a dream sort of..but i do think we are all responsible for how our second life is..this is our world and we created it..so responsibility should be within yourself..do we want it to be a warm welcome to new people or like this freaky horror show? we have this amazing canvas and we can paint what we want..why keep it dark and black :)
  • [13:45 SLT] Alley McNally: lol
  • [13:45 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: Quite often I think the minors don't realise that they should not be on on the adult grid.
  • [13:45 SLT] Youri Ashton: perhaps have a few mentors go to teen grid and show the teens some things that are approved by LL
  • [13:46 SLT] Alley McNally: hmmm
  • [13:46 SLT] Alley McNally: that could work
  • [13:46 SLT] Youri Ashton: or give people things that are approved by LL for age thing
  • [13:46 SLT] Alley McNally: if they were allowed
  • [13:46 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: Somme feel welcome, at a freaky horror show. Burning Man was an nspiraion
  • [13:46 SLT] Alley McNally: lol
  • [13:46 SLT] Alley McNally: some fur sims have very adult behavior going on
  • [13:46 SLT] Torley Linden: That's inspirational, Menno. A key theme we've had is "control of your experience", and enjoying the things you choose to. Kinda like, well, no one likes visiting website with tons of popup ads and malware. :(
  • [13:46 SLT] Trevyn Dragovar: I wish it were possible to just rely on parents to actually parent their children so the rest of the world wouldn't have to
  • [13:46 SLT] Alley McNally: lol
  • [13:47 SLT] xstorm Radek: there are some people taking some things out of context and telling new people so they can make money off the new people i hope in time there will be some thing to help stop the scammers in sl
  • [13:47 SLT] Youri Ashton: most fur sims is all about adult thing, running around bare nekid and say its suppost to be like that. even running around while you can see their private parts
  • [13:47 SLT] Torley Linden: Some of the problems in Second Life are ages-old human ones, manifested through new media.
  • [13:47 SLT] Alley McNally: yup
  • [13:47 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: yes
  • [13:47 SLT] Alley McNally: true
  • [13:47 SLT] Torley Linden: People come in here to find love, to make money, live out some dreams, etc.
  • [13:47 SLT] Youri Ashton: i think its wise for LL to check that behavior out
  • [13:47 SLT] Erinyse Planer: youri that doesnt describe most furry sim i freuent.
  • [13:48 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: It's a old question, how t welcome a hild, who shouldnt be in your brothel. Youmight ven as your local nightclu what hey do
  • [13:48 SLT] Alley McNally: I haven't gone away yet and it has been three year
  • [13:48 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: My keyoard i horrily lagy
  • [13:48 SLT] Tourmaline Falken is using a branch new laptop and is very smug about it :)
  • [13:48 SLT] Alley McNally: lol
  • [13:49 SLT] Youri Ashton: Erin: well its commenly known under most residents that furries run around most of the time nekid and dont do anything else then adult stuff all day long
  • [13:49 SLT] Alley McNally: I am sure that after a little while the whole adult thing will take care of itself.
  • [13:49 SLT] xstorm Radek: im trying to help companys in SL to know what are the best ways to use rl builds and bring them in to SL and not just dropping a photo on a box prim
  • [13:49 SLT] Erinyse Planer: that is NOT true
  • [13:49 SLT] Menno Ophelia: Awan i think there are two ways to look at it: a: why do you have a brothel for pete sake? b: if you do,. you have to take every responsibility there is..because you wanted it..and you created it right? and a part of that is keeping minors out
  • [13:49 SLT] Alley McNally: true
  • [13:49 SLT] Alley McNally: it's provably about 50-50
  • [13:49 SLT] Al Sonic: only about as naked as myself here.
  • [13:49 SLT] Alley McNally: I've naked before but with no bits
  • [13:49 SLT] Arawn Spitteler's entirely naked, under his fur
  • [13:49 SLT] Alley McNally: to me it is an avatar, not my real body
  • [13:50 SLT] xstorm Radek: may be in time there can be better info for real companys and brining in there content to sl
  • [13:50 SLT] Erinyse Planer: msot furry sims have strict rules about nudity. if theres bits they must be hidden or only exposed in private homes or play areas
  • [13:50 SLT] Al Sonic: And sure there are exceptions, but yeah, there are rules about those... details.
  • [13:51 SLT] xstorm Radek: we have to many starting to think its no more then a game we do in SL
  • [13:51 SLT] Youri Ashton: Alley: nekid without bits is okay i guess, but the people that run around with bits fully shown is kinda not nice to those that dont want to see it
  • [13:51 SLT] Alley McNally: well I find SL as the ulimate lab
  • [13:51 SLT] Marianne McCann: I like that thought, Alley
  • [13:51 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: We cando thigs in L, tha we ca't do n First Laugh: Slavery isa Freedom; Money can be earned; we look god naked
  • [13:51 SLT] Alley McNally: I've gotten used to it
  • [13:51 SLT] Erinyse Planer: youri those sims are few and far between and pretty well advertised. dont want to see bits, dont go to them. their pretty easy to avoid
  • [13:51 SLT] Alley McNally: :D
  • [13:51 SLT] Youri Ashton: there just has to be a child that gets on SL without verifying age and he/she will see everything
  • [13:51 SLT] Trevyn Dragovar: yeah. I generally just don't go back to places that make me see stuff I don't want to see. Like those libraries with all those books
  • [13:52 SLT] Trevyn Dragovar shudders
  • [13:52 SLT] Youri Ashton: there are enough kids that still get on somehow
  • [13:52 SLT] Niky Zenovka: @xstorm Saw once a construction company that built a building same as it was going to be in RL, so people could get a sense and walk around in the apartments... Great use of SL
  • [13:52 SLT] Menno Ophelia: But how did a child get on sl? is that LL responsibility or the parents?
  • [13:52 SLT] xstorm Radek: there has to be a better way for people just coming in to see it is not just your little kids game
  • [13:52 SLT] Menno Ophelia: parents if you ask me
  • [13:52 SLT] Trevyn Dragovar: I vote parents
  • [13:52 SLT] Marianne McCann: Niky - wasn;t that a hotel, I seem to recall? Was fascinating
  • [13:52 SLT] Al Sonic: Tough question Menno.
  • [13:52 SLT] Erinyse Planer shrugs "they see more in thri 3rd grade textbooks so hoenstly, im not worried. and yes its the aprents responsibility
  • [13:52 SLT] Al Sonic: Moreso the parents.
  • [13:53 SLT] xstorm Radek: i seen a number of real base builds that was great
  • [13:53 SLT] Youri Ashton: parents mostly yeah, LL is not responsable for the behavior of kids
  • [13:53 SLT] Marianne McCann: Made me construct my Bay City building initially using "traditional" framing and stuff, just to see how it would be done
  • [13:53 SLT] Alley McNally: I think there are still parents who don't really understand computers more than their kids
  • [13:53 SLT] Torley Linden: Also remember different cultures around the world have varying stances on this. As Second Life becomes global and diverse, so will those viewpoints.
  • [13:53 SLT] Menno Ophelia: Well what is a touch qeustion about it..i don't think it is fair to point at LL if you as a parent should wonder why you child is installing this and that and don't even check it?
  • [13:53 SLT] Alley McNally: I grew up with compies and understand them very well
  • [13:53 SLT] xstorm Radek: but then i have seen how poor of a build they did for so many others
  • [13:53 SLT] Youri Ashton: just the fact that kids do come on and do try to check out such places
  • [13:53 SLT] Niky Zenovka: @Marianne - Oh, havent seen this one... it was a company for selling apartments...
  • [13:53 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: What'sa kid? At what age should parents allow the allowance to buy Playboy?
  • [13:53 SLT] Erinyse Planer: even here in the us, allot of parents have no issue with their 16 year old coming into SL to rp sex. especially if it keeps them from getting the real thing
  • [13:54 SLT] Alley McNally: true
  • [13:54 SLT] Jeremy Linden: There are also many parents who are mortally afraid of that exact thing, and would do everything in their legal power to stop it.
  • [13:55 SLT] Alley McNally: actually if you think about it 18 is pretty young, I think in some places you have to be 21 to do stuff like that
  • [13:55 SLT] Erinyse Planer: legally, if a kid uses their parents credit card to verify for LL, I can arrest the kid. if a parent gives the kid the credit card and says its fine with me, theres NOTHING i can do. its legal
  • [13:55 SLT] Dawny Daviau: my son would have blend in in Sl with the age of 15 I advised him to wait till he was 18 tho... he joined SL when he was 19 btw....
  • [13:55 SLT] Al Sonic: That's one of those strange-but-true things about diverse perspectives.
  • [13:55 SLT] Niky Zenovka: Here is a subset of the world... guess any issues in RL will eventually happen here
  • [13:55 SLT] Menno Ophelia: But shouldnt we ask the qeustion how many procent that really is? i am geussing thats such a low rate?
  • [13:55 SLT] Youri Ashton: erin, thats the strange thing. on side claims that they dont want their kids having anything to do with that becouse of their 'religion'. but the other side they dont mind at all.... so why put up all the rules and make it so hard for LL ;)
  • [13:56 SLT] Youri Ashton: is it not?
  • [13:56 SLT] Alley McNally: I only hear about it every so often
  • [13:56 SLT] Kate Linden: We have a few minutes left of our office hour. If anyone would like an invitation to the Second Life Documentation group, please IM me. If you plan to create content using KB links from the wiki or inworld search, please let me know. :)
  • [13:56 SLT] Alley McNally: and suspect a little more than that
  • [13:56 SLT] Youri Ashton: ow sure kate! love to!
  • [13:56 SLT] Jon Linden: i have to continue testing some new equipment!
  • [13:56 SLT] Al Sonic: As a final note of positivity... I'm surprised how nice things look with Renderdeferred(TRUE)+RenderFastAlpha(TRUE). Now if the lights would just stop blinking...
  • [13:56 SLT] Jon Linden: everybody be well, and feel free to stop by again
  • [13:56 SLT] Youri Ashton: bye bye jon! see you next week!
  • [13:56 SLT] Marianne McCann: Bye Bye!!
  • [13:56 SLT] Alley McNally: see you and thank you!
  • [13:56 SLT] Erinyse Planer: hmm kate, ild like to be able to create wiki content and stuff, but ild like to go through the reviewer course first?
  • [13:56 SLT] Jon Linden waves
  • [13:56 SLT] Niky Zenovka: Bye Jon
  • [13:57 SLT] Tourmaline Falken: Bye Jon
  • [13:57 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: In one movie, Field of Dreams, there was some question of whether high school age chldren should be denied Slaughterhouse Five, at the desire of a Nazi Cow
  • [13:57 SLT] Dawny Daviau: See you
  • [13:57 SLT] Al Sonic: (The two combine to something surprisingly perfected.)
  • [13:57 SLT] Marianne McCann: Al - if only I could see it on my mac
  • [13:57 SLT] Al Sonic: Aw.
  • [13:58 SLT] Youri Ashton: aight, ill be hoppign to the bug triage
  • [13:58 SLT] Alley McNally: bye!
  • [13:58 SLT] Jeremy Linden: Here's some links to all the information we've made available about the KB2wiki project: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Kb2wiki
  • [13:58 SLT] Youri Ashton: thanks for this meeting everyone!
  • [13:58 SLT] Torley Linden: I've also often observed that people attach different meanings and values to the same words. Even if we use the same words, we may not be referring to the same things.
  • [13:58 SLT] Torley Linden: So, beyond words... actions.
  • [13:58 SLT] Torley Linden: Thanks for being with us!
  • [13:58 SLT] Alley McNally: true
  • [13:58 SLT] Arawn Spitteler: Reviewer Course?
  • [13:58 SLT] Jeremy Linden: If you enjoy editing and creating informational articles, I would recommend paying close attention to the style guide :-)
  • [13:58 SLT] Menno Ophelia: well said Torley :)
  • [13:58 SLT] Laurent Bechir: thank you
  • [13:58 SLT] Alley McNally: Its nice meeting you torley
  • [13:58 SLT] Niky Zenovka: Hey Torley, time for a quick question?
  • [13:58 SLT] Al Sonic: same words indeed... I've seen that a lot with 'moral', heh.
  • [13:59 SLT] Arawn Spitteler acknnowledges Niky asked a quick question
  • [13:59 SLT] Trevyn Dragovar: I love editing things, but I'm overscheduled as it is
