Weshalb wird das Second Life Mentor Volunteer Programm beendet?

Im Rückblick war die Mentorengruppe von Second Life ein von Lindens betriebenes und von Einwohnern angetriebenes Programm, das sehr nützlich darin war, neuen Einwohnern Antworten auf Fragen zur virtuellen Welt von Second Life zu liefern. Als die Welt wuchs und die Gesamteinwohnerzahl stieg, stellte sich heraus, dass die Eins-zu-Eins-Hilfe, auf die wir früher bauten, nicht entsprechend angepasst werden kann. Wir brauchen einen besseren Zugriff auf das Wissen und die Fähigkeiten, die Volunteers zu bieten haben. Linden Lab beabsichtigt und legt einen Schwerpunkt darauf, stabile Freiwilligenprogramme in Zusammenarbeit mit den Einwohnern von Second Life zu erstellen.

Wir glauben, dass es wichtiger ist, aufzuzeigen wie von Freiwilligen betriebene Gruppen inworld Hilfe anbieten und außerdem neue Wege für die Beteiligung von Freiwilligen anzubieten, die skalierbar und gut erkennbar sind. Wir machen es uns zur Aufgabe, diese Programme weiterhin zu fördern und deren Sichtbarkeit und Linden Lab´s Unterstützung weiter auszubauen.

Wie planen Sie, Freiwilligenprogramme zu unterstützen?

Während der letzten Monate haben wir uns auf zwei neue Programme konzentriert: Second Life Answers und einer baldigen Neuauflage des Resident Help Network. Diese Programme unterstützen wir ebenso wie andere Freiwilligenprogramme, einschließlich den Community-Übersetzern (CT-Projekt) und den Wiki-Mitarbeitern.

Wird es weiterhin eine Inworld-Gruppe oder E-Mail-Liste für Freiwillige geben?

Alle offiziellen von Linden Lab geförderten Kommunikationswege, die im Zusammenhang mit der Second Life Mentorengruppe stehen, werden beendet. Das beinhaltet:

Wann wird die offizielle Second Life Mentorengruppe geschlossen?

Will volunteers still be able to help at all the Help Islands (HI)?

Resident-run volunteer groups will have access to the public Help Islands and Orientation Island. Residents will not have access to non-public Help Islands.

Many volunteers help in other locations with or without a group tag. This is a great way to reach out to new Residents and you are welcome to continue doing this if you'd like! We also encourage you to research the various Resident Help Networks who are already inworld (or create your own!). You may also be interested in the Community Gateway program.

What will happen to the SLVI's, SLVEC and Tenera?

Tenera will remain as a general volunteer area. The other Second Life Mentor dedicated land areas will be re-purposed.

Can we still form our own groups inworld to help each other and communicate if we are inworld helping?

Yes, many of you already have groups and that is great! We encourage you to be innovative, continue volunteering and present us with your projects or programs! In fact, if you've got an idea for a new program, we'd love to hear it.

Is there still a VTeam at Linden Lab?

No, but Lexie Linden, along with the other members of the Community Team, are still very much interested and involved with expanding volunteer programs.

What will happen to the Mentor Linguists?

Many are already part of the Community Translations Projects. This is a great group to join if you like to help in languages other than English. We encourage any other Linguists to learn more about the project!

What will happen to the Official Volunteer Wiki?

Official Mentor Program information will be archived. There may be a new "General Volunteering" Portal coming in the future.

What will happen with vteamblog.com?

The vteamblog.com has already been closed. There is a new general Volunteer blog up now as part of the larger Linden Lab blog and forums.

Were Mentors not being helpful enough?

Volunteers have been very successful and helpful. We appreciate all they do. They have been so successful that the official program was not enough to showcase all the contributions and allow growth in a sustainable manner.
