The Girl Friend Experience (or the GFE) refers to an escort service that minics the actual relationship that a man has with a girl friend rather than with a paid prostitute. In general, the girl will give her client the illusion that she is in love with him and that the sexual act on her part is in respond to love rather than a respond to the payment of Lindens.

Although the term is common in the professional escort industrry, it wasn't until Janice Mabellon established her GFE Escort Club in 2008 that the term became an escort club keyword in the Second Life search engine.

Because no actual sexual contact occurs, GFE, as well as all other forms of escorting, is legal in Second Life (within the United States).
