The primary viewer for Second Life is Viewer 2, available on the main Second Life Downloads page. This is the Viewer that Linden Lab officially supports. You will also find the latest Viewer 2 Beta, if you would like to try out the latest version, before it is generally available as the default download for new Residents.
This article provides comprehensive list of other approved Viewers that are provided by Linden Lab.
Additionally, Some experienced Second Life Residents also use Alternate viewers (also called third-party Viewers to access Second Life.
NOTE: Linden Lab does not officially support any of the Viewers listed below.
Second Life Project Viewers
A Second Life Project Viewer is an early release from a Viewer development team to provide a preview of one or more new features for which you can get the source code.

Display Names Project Viewer
Display Names, a new feature currently under development, separates the current Second Life name into two parts: a unique username used to log in and an editable display name that appears above your avatar. For more information, see Display Names.

Mesh Import Project Viewer
Mesh impoort is an upcoming feature that enables creators to model objects using external tools and then import them into Second Life. For more information, see Mesh.

Second Life Development Viewer
