The Linden Memorial Park is designed to be a permanent place for inworld memorials to disasters outside of Second Life that affect our Residents. It'll also serve to commemorate Residents who have died with a small, permanent marker of their passing. Memorial objects could include an engraved headstone, sculpture, or monument.

Guidelines for memorial placements

The following are the guidelines for memorial placements in the Linden Memorial Park:

  • Memorial objects should be a single linked object.
  • Memorial objects should be PG rated.
  • We suggest that memorial objects be no greater than 10m by 10m by 10m (if your memorial object is larger, please state its dimensions when making the request).
  • The Resident requesting placement of the memorial should have transfer rights on the object to be placed.
  • Memorial objects should not disturb the peace, visually or audibly.
  • Memorial objects should not be religiously or politically sensitive.
  • Memorial objects will be owned and placed by Groundskeeper Linden.
  • Linden Lab reserves the right to request modifications, move, reorganize, or remove memorial objects.

Requesting memorial placements

To request a memorial placement, please submit a support ticket using the Support Portal. Important fields to fill in are as follows:

  1. In the Summary field, enter Memorial request.
  2. From the Ticket Type dropdown, select Land & Region Issue.
  3. From the Region Request dropdown, select Memorial Request.
  4. Fill in any important Details.
  5. Click Finish.

When requesting a memorial placement, please include the following:

  • The name of Resident or details of real life event to be commemorated.
  • Confirmation that you have transfer rights to the object to be placed.
  • A brief description of the memorial object to be placed.
KBnote.png Note: In some cases, it may be necessary for us to request further information.
If the memorial placement request is approved, you'll be contacted by Groundskeeper Linden to transfer the memorial object. If the memorial object complies with our guidelines, the memorial will then be placed by Groundskeeper Linden in the memorial park, and you'll be sent a landmark or SLURL to its location.
