This article answers some frequently asked questions about the Xstreet SL Marketplace.

How are Linden Dollars (L$) deducted from my Second Life account when I make a purchase?

We do not directly access your Second Life account.

Before you can make any purchases at the Marketplace, you must first deposit L$ into your Xstreet SL account by paying any Xstreet SL Terminal inworld. When you pay a terminal, the amount you pay is instantly available to use at the Marketplace as you wish.

Where can I find an Xstreet SL Terminal?

The following link provides a list of Xstreet SL Terminals.

How do I know the L$ I deposit are safe?

There are a few main questions many people ask:

Are the Terminals and the website secure?

The Marketplace and all its related components were designed with security in mind right from the start, incorporating years of experience in security administration and secure programming practices. In addition to this, there was a public call during our alpha testing stage for anyone who wanted to attempt to "harm the system" in any way they could. While there were some valiant attempts, all went unrealized. No one even came close to causing harm.

What do you do with the L$ I deposit?

Absolutely nothing. All Xstreet SL user accounts are treated as escrow accounts. The L$ belong to you, and are not ours to use.

What are your fees?

Please refer to our Xstreet fees.

How do I view Mature Listings?

On every Marketplace page, you'll see a link to Enable or Disable Mature Content directly below the list of Categories. Click this link to toggle back and forth between options.

I don't like what I bought, how do I get my money back?

Just as Linden Lab states in the Second Life Terms of Service, Xstreet's Terms of Service states that Xstreet is not responsible for content. However, this by no means implies that we are not concerned about the relationships between our customers and merchants. First, try to contact the merchant -- as should be best practice outside of Second Life, most merchants should make a reasonable attempt to fix their product or refund your money. If you have trouble getting in touch with the Merchant, contact us at our Support page and we will try to assist in bringing the two of you together.

I paid good L$ for this and all I wound up with was a box! Where's the stuff I bought?

Your items are inside that box. To get to them:

  1. Rez the box on the ground. Make sure you're on land that allows objects to be rezzed; a sandbox is always a good place if you don't own land.
  2. Right-click on the box and select Open.
  3. A window opens displaying the contents of the box. This is your stuff!
  4. Drag each item displayed in the contents into your Inventory window.
  5. Rez or wear them as appropriate.

In the event that you don't see an Open option in the pie menu, or the Open window is empty, you can also open a box this way:

  1. Rez the box on the ground. Make sure you're on land that allows objects to be rezzed; a sandbox is always a good place if you don't own land.
  2. Right-click on the box and select Edit.
  3. Click the More button to expand the Edit window.
  4. Click the Contents tab to see the objects inside the box. This is your stuff!
  5. Drag each item displayed in the contents into your Inventory window.
  6. Rez or wear them as appropriate.

What do you mean I don't have any funds? I have lots of L$!

Having L$ inworld doesn't help you purchase items on Xstreet SL. You must deposit L$ into your Xstreet SL Account in order to buy things in the Marketplace. To do this, go to any Xstreet SL Terminal inworld and pay it.

KBcaution.png Important: Caution: Be sure to check who owns it first -- if it's not owned by Exchange Street or SLXTerminal Bigwig, it's not ours.

This may seem like a slightly inconvenient process, but the safety of your L$ is our primary concern.

I have funds in my PayPal Account; how come my purchases are being denied?

Every account has limits to how much can be bought or deposited in USD$ for any given day and week. Two of the biggest factors in this rating are:

  • The age of the avatar and the Xstreet SL account
  • Whether or not your PayPal account is verified

I purchased something via PayPal and haven't received it, but the funds have been taken out of my PayPal account. Where's my stuff?

Your purchase may have been flagged for review. There are certain transactions that are flagged for manual review and approval. This is a crucial part of the effort to keep fraud under control. Unless there's a problem, a flagged transaction will usually be approved within 24 hours.

How do I change my Password?

Passwords can be changed by editing your Second Life account information. Go to secondlife.com and click My Account, then Change Password.

I've forgotten my password; how can I retrieve it?

To retrieve your password:

  1. Click the Login button at www.xstreetsl.com (you don't have to input your name, just click the button). The login page opens.
  2. Click the Forgot your login information? link and follow the directions provided.

How do I contact Xstreet SL?

You may reach all of the Xstreet SL staff by visiting our Support Page. Please do not IM us inworld unless we specifically ask you to. Unsolicited IMs are often not received, so they frequently go unanswered.

Product Support: Who can help?

Questions about the product you've purchased (how does it work? where's the notecard? etc) can only be answered by the creator or merchant from whom you purchased the item. To find the product's creator:

  1. Rez the object inworld.
  2. Right-click on the object and select Edit.
  3. Click the More button to bring up the full Edit window.
  4. Click the General tab to see the creator.

To contact the merchant:

  1. Find the item listing on Xstreet SL.
  2. Click the Contact Seller link to send them a Private Message.

Why can't I see the option to buy things for USD?

Items under L$50 cannot be purchased for USD.

KBnote.png Note: Note: The USD option is unavailable on our uncensored site due to PayPal restrictions regarding Adult Content. If you are browsing the uncensored site and find a non-adult item you want to purchase for USD, please look it up at Xstreet SL to get the USD option.

How does Search work?

When you search on a keyword, the search results will be sorted using a combination of these criteria:

  • Relevance
  • Popularity
  • Price

Feature enhancements will show up on the top of whatever page they fall based on the above sort. To narrow your search, use the Advanced Search options.

I have a sale pending; what does that mean?

A "Pending" sale usually means one of two things:

  • You're trying to buy something with USD and your payment is being held for review. In those cases, the item is not delivered and the funds are not deducted from your account until we approve the transaction involved.
  • Xstreet SL is having trouble delivering the item due to problems inworld within Second Life. Xstreet will attempt to execute the sale for two hours, during which time it will appear as a "Pending" sale on our website. If the delivery succeeds, the sale will be completed, you will receive the the item, and the funds will be transferred to the merchant. If the delivery fails, the sale will be cancelled and your funds will be returned to your Xstreet account.

I rated a product but it doesn't show up. Why?

A product must have three ratings before the ratings are displayed on the item listing.
