When will Teen Second Life close?
It will close on December 31, 2010.
When will the minimum age on the Main Grid be lowered to 16, and when will the transition of 16+ Residents, and organizations that serve them, on Teen Second Life occur?
On, or before, December 31, 2010.
Individual teen account transfer to the Main Grid
What will 16 and 17 year olds have access to on the Main Grid?
Second Life Residents under 18 years old will only be able to access regions and search results with a General maturity rating.
What will be transferred when 16 and 17 year olds are promoted to the Main Grid?
All inventory will be transferred. We are working out details around the transfer of groups, friends, and land. Full regions that are owned by individual teens that are 16 or older will be transferred at the request of the Residents, and for group land ownership and other land ownership structures we will be speaking with the teens and working internally to determine the most appropriate solutions.
What will happen to accounts and content held by 13-15 year olds?
All accounts and content for 13-15 year olds will be preserved (avatars, inventory, land) so that these Residents can easily join the Main Grid when they turn 16, or if we are able to serve younger Residents in the future.
Organization (NPOs, educational institutions, etc) transfers to the Main Grid
What will happen to accounts and content held by organizations on TSL?
For organizations serving the 16+ population, land, avatars, and inventory for these Residents will be transferred at the request of the institutions. In addition, as stated above, we will be working quickly to attempt to find solutions that will work for organizations serving younger demographics as well. An important objective for these customers and us, among other business objectives, is to find a solution that could allow existing Teen Second Life customers who serve 13 - 15 year olds to move to the Main Grid without an interruption in service, but we don't know if that will be possible yet.
What will happen to accounts and content held by 13-15 year olds?
As with the individual teen accounts, all content and avatars will be preserved so that if we are able to serve younger Residents in the future, these organizations will not need to start anew.
