Why can't I log in?

You cannot log in because the viewer you are using can no longer access Second Life.  You will need to download a new viewer to be able to log in.

How can I log in successfully?

To log in, please visit this page to download a new viewer that can be used to access Second Life.

I was able to log in before with the viewer I'm using. Why can't I now?

If you're using a viewer provided by Linden Lab, please make sure you have downloaded the most recent version.

If you are using a third-party viewer (a viewer that has been released by a party other than Linden Lab), please make sure you are using the most recent version, and that the viewer complies with our Policy on Third-Party Viewers.

What is the Policy on Third-Party Viewers?

The Policy on Third-Party Viewersis our policy that governs access by third-party viewers to Second Life and our technical platform that supports Second Life. For more information, see our FAQ here.

Where can I find a viewer that complies with Linden Lab's policies?

Both the official Second Life viewer and our Snowglobe open source viewer release can be found here.

You may also browse the Viewer Directory for a list of third-party viewers whose developers have self-certified that they comply with the Policy on Third-Party Viewers.
