I need to know ...

Private IMs are protected from being copied and pasted to others without permission.

It was my understanding that local chat convos are protected as well. Is this true?

This is correct. You can find the part in the Community Standards: "Remotely monitoring conversations in Second Life, posting conversation logs, or sharing conversation logs without the participants' consent are all prohibited." Torb.jpg Torben 13:54, 5 April 2012 (PDT)
