'''MENTORING is our number one priority, MM provides a place to let off steam for mentors'''
MENTORING is our number one priority, MM provides Volunteer Mentors with a support environment conducive to volunteering.  Our Resident Help Group is a community of people who have passion and determination to diligently help New and Existing residents and improve Second Life one resident at a time.

Mental Mentors is not an open enrollment group, new members are required to be Second Life Active Mentors** or retired Mentors in good standing ONLY and new members are invited by the group owners or managers.
Mental Mentors is not an open enrollment group, new members are required to be Ex SL Mentors or Helpers from other Resident Help Groups in good standing.

The following Group Charter has been written, and will work in conjunction with the '''TOS, Community Standards and Mentor TAO.'''
What is Mental Mentors about? Good Question

As responsible Mentors it is only fair  that  we treat each other as well as our fellow SL residents with the respect we all deserve regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, creed, gender, or sexual orientation.
We are a very special group of people. We have a very special philosophy. One we are very proud of.

We are the people who have and will continue to help thousands of people. We might be the first contact that anyone has with Second Life.

----
Our smiley faces will be asked all kinds of questions.

'''Mentors who did not renew, by choice will be ejected from MM.'''
To be a Mentor Volunteer means so many things:

'''Mentors who could not renew due to real life interventions, will be considered for retention on a case by case basis, said mentors need to contact either Doc or Rails.'''
• coach,
• counselor,
• guide,
• guru,
• instructor,
• teacher,
• trainer,
• tutor.

'''Mentors who were in MM and elect to join the SecondAbility Mentor group will be moved into a special group slot, within MM created for them.'''
Here in Second Life it also means fashion consultant, travel agent, customer service, buddy, desktop support, Julie the Cruise Director and Bob the Builder.
----

When you are working as a Mentor Volunteer, you need to put on your patience, empathy and all your communication skills. Once you are in your group tag you are representing MM.
'''Matters involving political, religious or nation of origin bashing; constitute non Tao behavior. These actions are also in violation of the Community standards of Second Life.'''

'''Any person, who openly slanders, harassess or victimises any group member, through either a group notice, or group chat, will receive a formal written warning from management.'''
Please gear your actions, reactions and behavior to the Volunteer Code of Ethics. If for some reason you cannot, take the Mentor Volunteer tag off till a time when you can adhere to our philosophy.

If the behaviour persists, the offending party will be ejected from the group, with no form of redress.
When a person has a problem they will seek out a Mentor Volunteer. Often they are confused or upset.

*Group Notices. Can only be sent out by Group Owners, Management Stream, Officer Stream, Admin and the SAM Liaison Officer.
Do not let any of this make you flustered. Confused people are often upset.

''Group Notices are intended to be an information source, they are not orders, they are suggestions. As with any sugggestion, it is up to the individual to determine if they wish to adopt the suggestion.''
Mentor Volunteers have at their disposal a wealth of information, years of experience and the desire to help other people in the Second Life community.

'''Notices that contain kits, are to be sent out through the weekly drop box.'''
By using the knowledge base, the wikis, the MM chat, and the wealth of over 600 other Mentors Volunteers; we will help make Second Life a better community.

'''If you wish to have an event notice sent to MM, please give officers at least one weeks notice. You pre-plan, so one week notice is not a big ask.'''

Officers that send out inappropriate notecards will be asked to provide an explanation.
