Agenda

  1. What is the latest news on the Labs investigation of the best path for mesh deformer development? Is there any communication between the Lab and Qarl? Nalates Urriah
  2. Can we expect to see any updates on material development in the near future. This year maybe? Esprite Xavier
  3. I've been experimenting with tiny avatars/joint offsets this week. I've noticed that sometimes the LOD switching gets stuck on a low LOD. The LOD doesn't switch back to high after zooming in many times. You have to detach/reattach the avatar for it to act normally. Is this a known issue or does it need a jira? [Ashasekayi Ra]
  4. I believe that it was stated that the project mesh viewer will become less useful in the future. When will that be? Should we still use it for testing now? [Ashasekayi Ra]
  5. Does the color indicator for the new ARC work correctly in the main viewer? IE. Does red actually indicate an avatar that has a rendering cost that is too heavy for the new calculation or is it still using the old "bad" range?[Ashasekayi Ra]
  6. Were the upload Cost and LI weight fixed? Do you have a plan to change them? [Yuzuru Jewell]
  7. How about the license of morph data of avatar? [Yuzuru Jewell]
  8. Physics model of mesh not working properly. Mesh blocks holes where it should not. See [1] Squirrely Wrath

Transcript for Monday November 14, 2011

[12:07] Koli Contepomi (sahkolihaa.contepomi) hey Charlar.
[12:07] Squirrel Wood there. now it worked
[12:07] Wolfpup (wolfpup.lowenhar) hey charlar
[12:07] Charlar Linden OK, nobody panic, I'm here!
[12:08] Koli Contepomi (sahkolihaa.contepomi) Heh. xP
[12:08] Asha (ashasekayi.ra) Asha waves to Charlar
[12:08] Charlar Linden ok, first item!
[12:08] Charlar Linden #1 What is the latest news on the Labs investigation of the best path for mesh deformer development? Is there any communication between the Lab and Qarl? Nalates Urriah
[12:08] Charlar Linden .
[12:09] Nal (nalates.urriah) Lots has happen since I asked...
[12:10] Charlar Linden The latest news is that Oz has reached out to the karl and Max, to make sure they understand how to contribute code correctly as an Open Source contributor.
[12:10] Charlar Linden We want them to be successful.
[12:11] Eleanora Newell that's great, charlie
[12:12] Charlar Linden next item.
[12:12] Charlar Linden #2 Can we expect to see any updates on material development in the near future. This year maybe? Esprite Xavier
[12:13] Charlar Linden We are focusing on stability and bug fixing, so no, not this calendar year.
[12:13] Charlar Linden We do want to do the work, but as with other things, we want to focus on making SL work for more of the residents more of the time
[12:14] Esprite (esprite.xavier) Ah alright, any chance we could see some small moves towards it like using the alpha channel for bump?
[12:15] Geenz Spad alpha channel as bump would be nifty :>
[12:15] davep (runitai.linden) I wouldn't count on it in the immediate future -- compatibility and stability changes have been taking longer than expected and continue to take priority over new features
[12:16] Anri Liamano Sorry, Can I ask about mesh?
[12:16] Esprite (esprite.xavier) Alright, thanks for the honest answer :)
[12:16] Charlar Linden ok, then next item.
[12:16] Nyx Linden we have an agenda we're working off of Anri - feel free to add new topics to the end :)
[12:16] Charlar Linden #3 I've been experimenting with tiny avatars/joint offsets this week. I've noticed that sometimes the LOD switching gets stuck on a low LOD. The LOD doesn't switch back to high after zooming in many times. You have to detach/reattach the avatar for it to act normally. Is this a known issue or does it need a jira? [Ashasekayi Ra]
[12:16] Nyx Linden http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Content_Creation/Mesh_Import_User_Group is the agenda
[12:17] Charlar Linden Anri - please add any questions to that agenda
[12:17] Anri Liamano ok Ty
[12:17] davep (runitai.linden) Asha: that's not a known issue -- can you open a jira and provide a sample mesh that shows the problem?
[12:17] Asha (ashasekayi.ra) Ok, will do
[12:17] davep (runitai.linden) thanks much
[12:17] Asha (ashasekayi.ra) :)
[12:17] Eleanora Newell asha, please let your group in sl know the jira, i'd like to track it
[12:18] davep (runitai.linden) anyone have a tap dancing animation?
[12:18] davep (runitai.linden) (totally off topic, sorry)
[12:18] Eleanora Newell lol
[12:18] Asha (ashasekayi.ra) Sure thing Ele
[12:18] Charlar Linden next
[12:18] Charlar Linden #4 I believe that it was stated that the project mesh viewer will become less useful in the future. When will that be? Should we still use it for testing now? [Ashasekayi Ra]
[12:18] Asha (ashasekayi.ra) lol, no tap dancing animation
[12:20] Charlar Linden You should still use it for testing, and...
[12:21] Charlar Linden it will become deprecated in the near future when everything gets merged to trunk. I don't know when that is, but in the near term.
[12:21] Asha (ashasekayi.ra) I gotcha. Thanks.
[12:22] Charlar Linden #5 Does the color indicator for the new ARC work correctly in the main viewer? IE. Does red actually indicate an avatar that has a rendering cost that is too heavy for the new calculation or is it still using the old "bad" range?[Ashasekayi Ra]
[12:22] Nyx Linden we're readjusting it, see https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/STORM-1679
[12:22] Asha (ashasekayi.ra) Ah ok
[12:22] Asha (ashasekayi.ra) Thanks for the link.
[12:23] Nyx Linden yep, sorry for the delay in updating the color scale :)
[12:23] Charlar Linden next
[12:23] Charlar Linden #6 Were the upload Cost and LI weight fixed? Do you have a plan to change them? [Yuzuru Jewell]
[12:23] Asha (ashasekayi.ra) Is there a chance you are adjusting the alpha multiplier lower? :)
[12:23] Asha (ashasekayi.ra) Oops too late
[12:24] Nyx Linden nope, that was determined experimentally, alpha is baaaaad for performance :)
[12:24] Asha (ashasekayi.ra) Aww ok :p
[12:25] Charlar Linden for #6 - they haven't changed in a while, and we don't have any changes planned in the near term.
[12:26] Charlar Linden next
[12:26] Charlar Linden #7 How about the license of morph data of avatar? [Yuzuru Jewell]
[12:26] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell) OK thank you. I will add a function to reduce it to my tools..
[12:26] Nyx Linden what specific files? Sorry I thought we had made sure to clarify the avatar licensing
[12:27] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell) I heard Oz tells us..
[12:27] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell) But there is no answer...
[12:28] Drongle McMahon :-( I want variable LOD factor per mesh object.
[12:28] Nyx Linden what files do you need the license clarified for? I'll make sure Oz gets back to you
[12:28] Esprite (esprite.xavier) ah dang, was gonna give away some stuff but I forgot it's on the main grid XD
[12:29] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell) I want to know about llm files for avatar.
[12:29] Nyx Linden I'm pretty sure we've looked into that, I'll make sure Oz communicates it clearly
[12:31] Charlar Linden next?
[12:31] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell) Thank you, Nyx Please tell about it on this user group..
[12:31] Charlar Linden #7 Physics model of mesh not working properly. Mesh blocks holes where it should not. See [1] Squirrely Wrath
[12:32] Squirrel Wood I linked the .dae in that wiki post
[12:32] Squirrel Wood but basically it is the cube like thing behind me
[12:32] Squirrel Wood you can see that there are open spaces. yet you cannot enter them
[12:32] davep (runitai.linden) Squirrel: can you make a jira to that affect?
[12:32] Squirrel Wood when uploading I selected the .dae as physics model source
[12:32] davep (runitai.linden) we'll triage it and get it on the backlog
[12:32] Squirrel Wood I can jira it.
[12:33] Nyx Linden also describe the steps you're using in the decomposition tool
[12:33] Squirrel Wood okay
[12:33] davep (runitai.linden) thanks very much, I'll keep an eye out for that jira
[12:33] Charlar Linden that, folks was the final item we had today
[12:34] Drongle McMahon Sqirrelly, it's set to Convex Hull. Needs to be Prim.
[12:34] Koli Contepomi (sahkolihaa.contepomi) I can't get a land impact on that squirrel mesh - is it in the other sim?
[12:35] davep (runitai.linden) yeah, you have to be in this sim
[12:35] Koli Contepomi (sahkolihaa.contepomi) What the
[12:36] Squirrel Wood hmm
[12:36] Eleanora Newell thanks for the answers
[12:36] Nal (nalates.urriah) fat squirrel...
[12:36] Eleanora Newell appreciate it
[12:36] Nal (nalates.urriah) Nice model
[12:36] Koli Contepomi (sahkolihaa.contepomi) Yeah, this is certainly interesting. o_O
[12:37] Esprite (esprite.xavier) I'm sure Dr. Doom would be very scared of giant squirrel
[12:37] Asha (ashasekayi.ra) Thanks for the meeting.
[12:37] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell) all two side face..
[12:37] Squirrel Wood Drongle.. that was it :p
[12:37] Eleanora Newell later, everyone
[12:38] davep (runitai.linden) thanks, guys
[12:38] Rain Edring bye
[12:38] Nal (nalates.urriah) Yes thnx *.linden
[12:38] Asha (ashasekayi.ra) Bye El
[12:38] Charlar Linden OK, thanks Drongle - bye everyone!
