  • [14:56] Whump Linden: Hey everyone. Good afternoon.
  • [14:56] Tizwoz Xue: hey hey
  • [14:56] Winne Woodget: hi hi
  • [14:56] Winne Woodget: :D
  • [14:56] TUX Hultcrantz: Hio Whump!
  • [14:56] Flame Swenholt: now, with this Open Grid, of whom can go in and who can't?
  • [14:56] Flame Swenholt: ah hello Whump
  • [14:57] DangerDave Writer: waves hello!
  • [14:57] Skrrp Morpork: heh, anyone want a chat device that works with Open Grid and here?
  • [14:57] Tizwoz Xue: YAY! (yay!)
  • [14:57] Tizwoz Xue: i have a region on open grid already
  • [14:57] Flame Swenholt: well I have one that's Web Browser to SL
  • [14:57] Saijanai Kuhn: you need to get an invitation from Whump to join the gridnauts groupo here and in the aditi grid
  • [14:57] Mircea Lobo: hello
  • [14:57] Tray Guisse: hay
  • [14:57] Tizwoz Xue: hey
  • [14:57] Whump Linden: Hi Flame, are you an OpenSim developer or grid operator?
  • [14:58] Flame Swenholt: I do work involving libSL and open sim
  • [14:58] Flame Swenholt: run a private grid at my school for testing purposes
  • [14:58] Whump Linden: Cool, flame, drop an email to ogpb-info@lindenlab.com with your Avie's name and I'll get you added later today.
  • [14:59] Flame Swenholt: ah excelent
  • [14:59] Saijanai Kuhn: if you're doing pyogp work, make sure to get two avies registered
  • [15:00] Whump Linden: notices pogan's bag. Did he bring bagels to the meeting?
  • [15:00] pogan Palianta: avies = login ?
  • [15:00] Tizwoz Xue: lol
  • [15:00] Flame Swenholt: yes
  • [15:00] Whump Linden: pogan, yes, Avatars/Residents
  • [15:00] Flame Swenholt: I would hope so, that or my terminalogy needs helps
  • [15:00] pogan Palianta: just lokin what to use it for ; )
  • [15:01] pogan Palianta: maybe pogp project inside
  • [15:01] Xugu Madison: BTW, any estimate of how long before people can start doing grid-teleports without requiring to be in a specific group?
  • [15:01] Whump Linden: Okay, so first item is meeting schedule, they've been sparsely attended as of late, and I was wondering if we could get away with one meeting a week, the Wednesday OGPB office hours.
  • [15:02] Gridnaut Bear: Dispenser: I gave Winne Woodget a Gridnaut bear.
  • [15:02] Mircea Lobo: would be curious to test the teleportation between grids. Never tried it but it raises many questions
  • [15:02] Saijanai Kuhn: probably a good while unless you use Tao Takashi's python-based Agent Domain for login
  • [15:02] Saijanai Kuhn: and he's on vacation starting tomorrow so it won't get updated til he gets back anyway
  • [15:02] Xugu Madison: Wednesday only would be fine for me
  • [15:03] Saijanai Kuhn: you can ony use the LInden Agent Domain if you are a registered group member
  • [15:03] pogan Palianta: my legs hurt ....
  • [15:03] Mircea Lobo: I for one would encourage a weekly opensim-related meeting on this grid too
  • [15:03] Teravus Ousley: I think the wednesday only meeting is a good idea probably. As long as there would be a few when major releases come out.
  • [15:04] Teravus Ousley: We generally hold the weekly meeting on OSGrid, Mircea
  • [15:04] Whump Linden: there's a weekly OpenSim office hour at Wright Plaza Tuesdays at noon, but that is on the Open Grid.
  • [15:04] Teravus Ousley: .. if you're Taoki.. then you probably already know that :D
  • [15:04] Mircea Lobo: Yeah I know that one... sorry i didnt attend much any more
  • [15:04] Mircea Lobo: Yeah its me :)
  • [15:04] Saijanai Kuhn: maybe we can start having a gridnauts meeting place in the Open Beta Grid?
  • [15:05] Mircea Lobo: Was wondering about the ones here though, if the meetings on this grid are also as important
  • [15:05] Whump Linden: Mircea, the meetings here such as AWG and Zero's office hours are important if you're interested in grid interop.
  • [15:06] Whump Linden: here being Second Life Grid
  • [15:06] Saijanai Kuhn: if you need an invite to the AW Groupies let me know. The meeting is on a private IBM island
  • [15:07] Mircea Lobo: I'd be interested to join the group. And yeah i am curious about grid inteopability too (sorry if i spelled that wrong)
  • [15:07] Whump Linden: Okay, so starting today, we're going to the one meeting a week, the Wednesday office hour.
  • [15:07] Whump Linden: Second item, OGP list.
  • [15:08] Whump Linden: There's been a lot of AWG/OGP discussion on the SLDev list as of late, and we've been lax in following up.
  • [15:08] Whump Linden: I've taken on monitoring the list for the Open Protocol team and making sure questions get addressed.
  • [15:09] Saijanai Kuhn: seems to me that an OGPlist is called for now
  • [15:09] Whump Linden: However, is there interest in spinning off a separate list for OGP discussion?
  • [15:09] TUX Hultcrantz: sure
  • [15:09] Saijanai Kuhn: I so move...
  • [15:10] Whump Linden: okay, is there concern about mailing list explosion?
  • [15:10] Whump Linden: or different way of looking at it, how many of you are on SLDev already?
  • [15:10] Saijanai Kuhn: not really, my mailing app handles folders pretty well
  • [15:10] Saijanai Kuhn: raises hand
  • [15:10] TUX Hultcrantz: procmail++
  • [15:11] TUX Hultcrantz: too
  • [15:11] Teravus Ousley: I'm on SLDev.. but.. For many topics, with regards to OGP I'm not sure the policy of 5 mail items.. then move to the wiki would be appropriate
  • [15:11] Xugu Madison: How about using the Gridnaut list for OGP, at least for now?
  • [15:12] Whump Linden: Xugu, there are interested parties who aren't in the beta.
  • [15:12] Whump Linden: Okay, it sounds like a new list is in order.
  • [15:13] Whump Linden: I think RobLa supports the idea, I will need to get a charter and rules of the road written, and can open it for subs in the next day or so.
  • [15:13] Teravus Ousley: essentially.. whatever we discuss will need to eventually will eventually need to be sent to a wiki.. but.. ideally we can discuss things.
  • [15:13] Whump Linden: yes
  • [15:14] Teravus Ousley: and that's one thing that the SLDev list somewhat restricts..
  • [15:14] Teravus Ousley: Though ongoing things.. such as licensing debates and what not.. that are not productive.. are a problem..
  • [15:14] Eleonora Porta: wow protocol!
  • [15:14] Saijanai Kuhn: eventually, when Tao's AD gets more robust, non-gridnauts could participate in the TP --they just won't have access to the LInden ADand sims behind the firewall
  • [15:15] Whump Linden: okay, I had a quick question for Teravus about the updates to OpenSim, the ssl/https change, is that manditory?
  • [15:15] Saijanai Kuhn: one assumes that the test sim owners aren't worried about "unauthorized" visits at this point
  • [15:15] Teravus Ousley: no. It's optional. But it's capable of it if you want to test it.
  • [15:15] Teravus Ousley: I provided the capability.. and the directions
  • [15:15] Whump Linden: okay
  • [15:15] Whump Linden: I'll wikify your email if that's okay.
  • [15:16] Teravus Ousley: that's perfectly ok
  • [15:16] Whump Linden: cool
  • [15:17] Whump Linden: Okay, that's all I had for today. The engineers are working on implementing draft three on the AD and Vaak sims this week.
  • [15:17] Whump Linden: any other questions?
  • [15:17] Teravus Ousley: shakes head.. nope
  • [15:18] Saijanai Kuhn: anyone need a Groupies nivite to get to AWQG meetings?
  • [15:18] Xugu Madison: Teravus, how's OGP on grid-enabled OpenSims going?
  • [15:18] Saijanai Kuhn: AWG*
  • [15:18] Raz Welles: I don't know if it's proper to bring it up here, but, since it's about open grids, I thought I'd mention that Open Life is gearing up to test its first RealXtend beta grid soon.
  • [15:18] Raz Welles:  :)
  • [15:18] Winne Woodget: do we know when the work for the AD and Vaak is finished for testing?
  • [15:18] Saijanai Kuhn: neat. Raz is realXtend going to support OGP at some point?
  • [15:19] Mircea Lobo: Yeah I think thats proper. I havent tested realxtend in a while but i seen it became interesting
  • [15:19] Raz Welles: I don't know, but you're in the chatroom too, you could ask :)
  • [15:19] Teravus Ousley: Xugu. You can use OGP on grid-enabled sims now. But, to teleport out of the region domain, you must be in a sim on the same instance as the one you teleported in on.
  • [15:19] Raz Welles: that would certainly be interesting
  • [15:19] Whump Linden: Saij, there are RealXend devs on the gridnauts list.
  • [15:20] Whump Linden: I need to follow up with Adam and Jani on where they are at.
  • [15:20] Mircea Lobo: ok, i had a question. Is it ok if i ask some questions which have probably been asked in the past though? About the grid-to-grid teleporting ability...
  • [15:20] Teravus Ousley: If you have 10 sims on the instance of OpenSim.exe.. and you teleport in on one of them.. you must return to one of the 10 to teleport out.
  • [15:20] Xugu Madison: Ah, right!
  • [15:20] Flame Swenholt: so in other words, you must TP to a sim that is run by the master OpenSim.exe and not node ones?
  • [15:21] Whump Linden: Tervus, is that some thing you'd want to get into greater depht on Wednesday?
  • [15:21] Teravus Ousley: sure.
  • [15:21] TUX Hultcrantz: all 10 will occupy the same coord on both grids too, right?
  • [15:21] Teravus Ousley: Essentially your state is kept on the server you teleported to.
  • [15:21] Teravus Ousley: .. that's different then the Sim
  • [15:22] Teravus Ousley: .. a server can have many sims hosted on it.
  • [15:22] Teravus Ousley: .. we call the process OpenSim.exe, an 'instance'
  • [15:22] Whump Linden: okay, I'll add that to the agenda along with the LLSD encoding issue (pending Infinity's availablity.)
  • [15:22] Saijanai Kuhn: thats for AWG tomorrow?
  • [15:23] Saijanai Kuhn: or for wed?
  • [15:23] Whump Linden: No, Wednesday's office hours.
  • [15:23] Saijanai Kuhn: KK cornfused for a sec
  • [15:23] Whump Linden: No worries, too many meetings.
  • [15:23] Flame Swenholt: now, a minority question, but is the TG able to access this OpenGrid, or is it primarly MG (whether it be access by Beta Grid of either end or not)
  • [15:23] Saijanai Kuhn: about a dozen if you count OpenSim
  • [15:23] Whump Linden: Flame at the moment Main Grid only.
  • [15:24] Flame Swenholt: ah ok
  • [15:24] Whump Linden: Periapse has a TG group for interested parties there.
  • [15:24] Saijanai Kuhn: right, though Tao's AD allows login to a specific OpenIm that uses the AD extension
  • [15:24] Flame Swenholt: alot of my friends who are still in the Teen Grid were starting to get freaked out for awhile
  • [15:24] Saijanai Kuhn: they can't get to the aditi grid though
  • [15:25] Flame Swenholt: yea I know, I'm just raising a question that they wanted me to bring up
  • [15:25] Whump Linden: Flame we need a way to make sure that OpenSim regions they'd teleport to are Teen only.
  • [15:26] Saijanai Kuhn: that is an interesting policy issue though. Since the Opensims are all separately hosted and so is Tao's AD, I guess Linden has no policy on it
  • [15:26] Saijanai Kuhn: or maybe they do
  • [15:26] Teravus Ousley: Well, one thing that you can use is the PG vs Mature rating
  • [15:26] Flame Swenholt: well, aren't the Teen Grid and Main Grid sorta connected?
  • [15:26] Whump Linden: they are separate estates
  • [15:26] Xugu Madison: Which is a bucket of fun for those of us with an audience going from 16-21+, but we're working on that. By which I mean I haven't a clue
  • [15:27] Flame Swenholt: there's a rumor that if you wear a mega prim at the farthest corner of the MG, closest to the Teen Grid, the Teen Grid at their corner can see the prim, right click and send IMs
  • [15:27] Flame Swenholt: or atlest view profile
  • [15:27] Teravus Ousley: ... OpenSim does send a PG vs Mature statement according to it's setting in the estate tools.
  • [15:27] Teravus Ousley: .. in the OGP.
  • [15:27] Teravus Ousley: Though.. I'm not sure there's a clear way to set the estateID
  • [15:27] Teravus Ousley: .. yet.
  • [15:27] Flame Swenholt: perhaps in a region database?
  • [15:27] Teravus Ousley: I suppose I could implement one this week
  • [15:28] Xugu Madison: I'd love to be able to give a quick few sentances to anyone teleporting into the grid (first time only?)
  • [15:28] Teravus Ousley: the region owner would have to use the god tools and set the estate from there.
  • [15:28] Saijanai Kuhn: I need torestart. Whump you logging this?
  • [15:28] Flame Swenholt: Sylver was tempted to do so at one point =P
  • [15:28] Whump Linden: Flame, if there's a security hole, please email security@secondlife.com with the details.
  • [15:28] Xugu Madison: "Hi, here's what we do, what's okay, what's not, who staff are, license is basically <blah>, full license at <URL>"
  • [15:28] Whump Linden: Saij: i've got it
  • [15:29] Saijanai Kuhn: KK see ya in sec
  • [15:29] Flame Swenholt: it's only a rumor, but yes I'll see about sending an email
  • [15:29] Whump Linden: I need to head to my next meeting.
  • [15:29] Xugu Madison: See you Whump!
  • [15:29] Leonhard Hancroft: ca va?
  • [15:29] Flame Swenholt: and I must be goign myself, dinner
  • [15:29] Mircea Lobo: later :)
  • [15:29] Flame Swenholt: take care Whump, pleasure meeting you
  • [15:29] Xugu Madison: bye Flame!
  • [15:29] Winne Woodget: cya whump thanks for the bear
  • [15:29] pogan Palianta: when can ask about second login Whump ?
  • [15:29] Leonhard Hancroft: je ne trouve pas les accents...
  • [15:29] Whump Linden: thanks everyone
  • [15:29] Raz Welles: bye whump :)
  • [15:30] Tizwoz Xue: cya guys
  • [15:30] Xugu Madison: thanks for hosting Whump, and I'll see you all Wednesday!
  • [15:30] Fatty Kidd: How about the Open Grid eh?
