Second Life uses a number of different aspect ratios for different in-world applications. For instance, you may often find that a snapshot that works perfectly for your 2nd Life profile tab doesn't look right when you try to use it in your 1st Life profile tab. This guide should help you to judge what aspect ratio to use when creating images for Second Life.
