Pautas de Lenguaje para el wiki
Esta página habla de las pautas de uso del lenguaje natural y la traducción del contenido del wiki de SL (http://wiki.secondlife.com). La traducción del IU Usuario de SL se trata en una página aparte: How to Localize Your World. La información sobre las actividades desarrolladas por residentes llamada I18N Project está disponible en Project:I18n.
En este momento los contenidos de ésta página son solamente un conjunto de propuestas. Por favor siéntase libre de sumarse a la discusión en associated discussion page o simplemente modifique esta página. Esperamos sin embargo, que en los futuros ingresos de contenido al wiki de SL, se sigan respetando las pautas de esta página. General
El wiki de SL generalmente sigue la idea y mecanismos de MediaWiki site's language policy on Help pages, en oposición a la versión de lenguaje de Wikipedia.
Crear Páginas
Lenguaje primario
El inglés es el lenguaje primario del wiki. Fue elegido porque actualmente es el lenguaje más común en las comunicaciones internacionales. No significa otorgar privilegios a los angloparlantes. Entonces, aunque sea muy bueno en inglés, asuma por favor que los lectores no son fluidos en inglés, y use expresiones simples y claras.
Usted puede usar palabras extranjeras o palabras inglesas si fuera necesario. No obstante, le pedimos que evite por favor el uso del latín, griego o francés.
Títulos de Páginas
El título de la página del wiki de SL puede basarse en Inglés.
Aunque MediaWiki es suficientemente poderoso para permitir títulos diferentes del idioma Inglés (por ejemplo usando caracteres Unicode), el wiki de SL puede prescindir de esa característica.
Contenidos que no son en Inglés
Si quiere crear una nueva página en un lenguaje que no es Inglés, por favor considere escribirla en dos lenguajes: Inglés y otro en lenguaje diferente al Inglés, haciendo de la página en Inglés la página principal y la suya la translation. La página en Inglés no necesita en este caso completarse. Sólo un breve resumen está bien.
Aún si usted no desea o no tiene suficientes habilidades para escribir la página en Inglés, es recomendable crear una casi vacía página en Inglés que solamente diga algo así como "El contenido de ésta página no está disponible en Inglés en este momento", y escriba su página en otro idioma como una traducción.
De ésta forma, otros residentes pueden traducir eventualmente sus contenido en inglés, sin cambiar por completo la estructura de la página.

Es bien recibida la traducción de páginas del wiki de SL en otros idiomas.
Títulos de páginas
Translated contents are written in its own page.
The title of the translated page should be its corresponding English page title plus a code for a language, separated by a slash (/). For example, Dutch translation of the Main Page is titled Main Page/nl, as opposed to Hoofdpagina or Hoofdpagina/nl, where nl is the language code for Dutch. See Language code below for possible codes.
Language code is all in lower case.
Plantillas de Lenguaje
Translated pages should be tagged with the {{Multi-lang}} template. English pages that have one or more translation should also. The {{Multi-lang}} template should be put near the top of the page and kept at the same location in translations of the same page.
Consistent use of {{Multi-lang}} template helps readers to find their preferred language versions of pages.
Note that the Template:Multi-lang is also available as another name Template:Languages for a historical reason.
Vínculos
If you are linking to another page from a non-English page, and the target page has a translation of the same language, it's better to link to the translated page. Such links are better to have translated anchor.
For example, if you are writing a French page, and want to put a link to the French translated version of the page titled Voice, It's better to write the link as [[Voice/fr|voix]] then to write [[Voice/fr]].
Yes, this is somewhat inconveninent side-effect of the above guideline, that is, page title is always English based. (Express your opinions on the discussion page.)
If the target page has no translation to the same language, link to the primary (English) page.
Sincronización
Try to synchronize the contents of the translated page with the corresponding English page, though you, as a translator, have no duty to track the changes to the original page. Any residents who noticed the change are encouraged to update the translation.
Adding new info only on the translated page is hence dangerous, because some other resident may remove the addition to synchronize the contents. You need some clear indication if you add some.
Códigos del lenguaje
SL wiki uses both ISO 639-1 (alpha-2) codes and ISO 639-3 codes for language identification.
When both are applecable, 639-1 alpha-2 code has a precedence.

Note that an English page title has no language code attached, so there should not be a page of the title "Something/en". However, the code en for English appears on various locations.
