Most pages should follow the policy set out in the Editing Guidelines. Talk pages are different in nature; they are intended to be a place for discussion of the associated topic page.

Guidelines for talk pages:

  • Sign your comment at the end, using four tildes (~~~~), as below:
I think those corn-starch packing peanuts are the bees knees -- ~~~~
...which will be transformed into:
I think those corn-starch packing peanuts are the bees knees -- Rob Linden 00:04, 24 March 2007 (PDT)
  • If you are starting a new thread, use the "+" button to add it, or manually add a subject line within == signs
  • If you are replying to a comment, indent it by prepending your comment with a colon. If the comment you are replying to is already indented, you can add indent levels by adding more colons.
  • Place {{Talk}} on the top of pages where these guidelines aren't being followed. This will display as the following:

  • Do not alter other Residents talk page comments!
    • Changes to fit the style of the talkpage or adding of Template:Unsigned seem appropriate though.
  • Do not remove your talk page comments when you changed your mind. Use <strike> to manipulate the old comment instead and maybe add a reason why you made that change. Example:
<strike>Peanut butter isn't very tasty... </strike> -- Magellan Linden 09:04, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
:Hm... eating it more often made me change my mind.~~~~
resulting in:
Peanut butter isn't very tasty... -- Magellan Linden 09:04, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
:Hm... eating it more often made me change my mind. -- Magellan Linden 15:37, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
