Second Life Marketplace BETA Releases and Reporting of Issues

This document is a list of release notes from the most recent Beta Marketplace Releases to [Aditi]. Since the Marketplace is a web product, any deployment will affect all customers immediately. A Beta grid gives you the chance to try out changes before we deploy them.

Release Notes for Current BETA Marketplace Release

January 26, 2012

This Beta includes the activated Direct Delivery functionality. Merchants will now be able to list products using Direct Delivery and try out migrating a listing from Magic Box to Direct Delivery (which will require setting up the product in a Magic Box first). Note that the changes in the last Beta have not been released into production yet.

Due to the urgency of some of the fixes, the version of Marketplace currently on Aditi will be released before we will turn on Direct Delivery. Direct Delivery functionality will NOT be available in the next release.

Merchant Facing Fixes

  • WEB-4302: Date is now the import date of the inventory item
  • ((JIRA|WEB-4260}}: Performance work to improve the early morning delivery success rate
  • New usage requirements added to listings (requires land, requires sandbox, or none); the front end display will launch with Direct Delivery. These define what consumers will need after purchasing an item for Direct Delivery items.

Direct Delivery Fixes (ONLY enabled for testing on Aditi)

  • Direct Delivery is enabled for listing, migration and delivery. Please see Direct Delivery Beta Instructions to try this new set of features out. NOTE: Not all functionality is active, so please take a look at these instructions and the Knowledge Base articles for more details.
  • Bulk edit will now check the category box when a new category is set, allowing the save to succeed.
  • ANS support for URLs (no validation yet). You need to use a different URL from your XStreet ANS URL.
  • Error reports on import are accurate
  • Delivery folder now specified in order summary

Known Beta Issues

    
  • Listings with an updated date before Sept. 1, 2011 may behave unexpectedly--stick to updating listings with a date after that (which should be most, due to system updates).
  • The web site for Xstreet is not accessible on Aditi; if this becomes blocking, file a JIRA with what you are trying to do and we'll follow up
  • Error reporting on import (Marketplace import failure log)
    • Unassociated Marketplace Items has a limit of 100: hitting this limit will not report in the Import Failure Log.
  • Managing listings/inventory on the Marketplace
    • Permissions abbreviations are not accurate for user selected permissions on listings.
  • Viewer issues
    • Dragging large number of folders to the Outbox can result in apparent inventory loss. Re-start the viewer to resolve.
    • The Merchant Outbox is not always visible in the viewer right after it has been created. In some cases, a relog will be required to view the newly created Outbox.
  • Limited quantity items (objects the merchant does not have copy rights on) are not yet supported. This feature is currently under development.
