commercial indicator

As the list of editors grows, a marker of some kind next to commercial editors would be useful. I checked some Wikipedia entries and other sources, but haven't seen any common marker yet. Is there some standard, or could we just add a dollar sign ($) after some names? Something more international would be nice. --Adam Marker (02:23, 2 March 2007)

I've changed it to "C" for commercial software, I couldn't think of any character that would really do. Fennec Wind 20:22, 5 March 2007 (PST)

The dollar sign is more suggestive of what is intended. Strife Onizuka 21:20, 5 March 2007 (PST)

I agree, but it is rather USA-specific. Fennec Wind 21:24, 6 March 2007 (PST)

That was nagging at me. Couldn't think of a good solution. Strife Onizuka 22:53, 6 March 2007 (PST)

I finally found the symbol that was lurking in the back of my brain, the generic currency symbol, ¤, "used to denote a currency when the symbol for a particular currency is unavailable" (Currency (typography). If no one says otherwise, I may give it a try. --Adam Marker 23:47, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
