Translation of the first sentence of Description

The sentence "Take controls from agent task has permissions for." is divided into two parts, "Take controls from agent" and "task has permissions for". The latter is a relative clause that qualifies the word "controls". Yes, this is a very hard sentence to write in Japanese, because there are no direct translation of a noun "controls" under this context; "take control" usually translate to a single verb "支配する" or "制御する" where no qualification to "some particular controls" is grammatically possible... The current translation "タスクに許される範囲で、エージェントのコントロールを横取りします。" may not be appropriate, but I believe it is far easier to understand. -- Alissa Sabre

Literal translation is a bad thing because language structures can differ. It's more important that the ideas are properly conveyed then literally translated. In my mind, a translation isn't correct if doesn't result in a similar memetic shape. So if you were trying to translate the idea of a "duck" and the closest you could get through literal translation was "a creature that floats" it should be embellished to "a flying bird that floats and swims primarily on small ponds and creeks" (a situation like this would be an opportunity to import, create or mutate an existing word for that hypothetical language). The English description of llTakeControls is pretty sucky and should be rewritten. -- Strife Onizuka 05:21, 25 February 2008 (PST)
How about this? "許可されたタスクに関してエージェントの制御を行います。" = Control agent's task which already permitted. -- Nock Forager 01:07, 26 February 2008 (PST)
I saw your edit in the original. It seems good. Thanks, Strife -- Mako 10:23, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
