Template:User provides a handy way to point to a wiki users profile.

Writing {{User|Jon Doe}} is equivalent to [[User:Jon Doe|Jon Doe]].

It is also equivalent to [[User:Jon Doe|]] which is almost exactly the same amount of work to write, but decreases the load on the Wiki.
