Transcript of Andrew Linden's office hours:

[16:26] Kooky Jetaime: Hey Andrew
[16:26] Andrew Linden: Hello
[16:26] Kooky Jetaime tinkers... any suggestions on a im replacement?
[16:26] Andrew Linden: lesee... somewhere in my inventory I should have a dynamically sized table that Ryozu gave me
[16:27] Kooky Jetaime: ah
[16:27] Kooky Jetaime: maybe we should move onto the stage then
[16:27] Kooky Jetaime: I take it the in aditi meetin never happened
[16:27] There is no suitable surface to sit on, try another spot.
[16:27] Kooky Jetaime: (forgive random outbursts, hd crashed this weekend, and as a result I'm getting to reinstall windows from scratch
[16:27] Andrew Linden: excellent
[16:28] Andrew Linden: have a seat Kooky
[16:28] Andrew Linden: see? a new chair for the next participant
[16:28] Kooky Jetaime: yep
[16:28] Kooky Jetaime: torley and blue have em too
[16:28] Andrew Linden: lets see how it scales...
[16:28] Kooky Jetaime: Sai - what do you use for IMs?
[16:28] Andrew Linden: eventually the table will be too small
[16:29] Andrew Linden: I wonder wether it increases the table size at some point
[16:29] Kooky Jetaime: never seen one that does
[16:29] Saijanai Kuhn: IM's just hte client's widnows...
[16:29] Kooky Jetaime shouts: n
[16:29] Kooky Jetaime: no no
[16:29] Saijanai Kuhn: or do yo umean RL IMs
[16:29] Kooky Jetaime: AIM/Yahoo/Etc etc
[16:30] Kooky Jetaime: I've been a slave to using AIM/Yahoo/etc proper
[16:30] Andrew Linden: We use IRC internally at LL
[16:30] Kooky Jetaime: I'm gonna install them anyways, since I've yet to see or hear of a "all in 1" that has all of the functionality of each
[16:30] Saijanai Kuhn: AIM if possible. Want to try the new features of Leopard
[16:30] Kooky Jetaime: I use mIRC for irc :)
[16:31] Kooky Jetaime: I have aim, yahoo, icq, skype, and msn
[16:31] Andrew Linden: although we would like to transition to jabber for better external access
[16:31] Saijanai Kuhn: BTW, andrew, this specific ant is a real bug hunter
[16:31] Kooky Jetaime: I'm using up almost 150 megs in "standby" im programs heh
[16:31] Andrew Linden: How is that Saijanai?
[16:32] Kooky Jetaime: you know, too bad you can' integrate an irc server into sl...
[16:32] Rex Cronon: hi everybody
[16:32] Andrew Linden: have a seat Rex
[16:32] Kooky Jetaime: pvt messages go to avitars, irc channels = group chats
[16:32] Saijanai Kuhn gave you ant bug.
[16:32] Saijanai Kuhn: I'm trying for a job with Qaric's QA group so I did some bughunting over the weekend
[16:32] Saijanai Kuhn: Aric's*
[16:33] Rex Cronon: thanks
[16:33] Rex Cronon: are u intereted in having more people come to this office hour?
[16:33] Andrew Linden: Saijanai, just curious... is that a Havok4 bug when wearing the ant? Or is it a Havok1 problem?
[16:33] Saijanai Kuhn: Same bug happens in Havokr 4 also
[16:34] Andrew Linden: ah ok good to know
[16:34] Saijanai Kuhn: but ONLY this bug.
[16:34] Saijanai Kuhn: THe one you have to buy from Qarl's Cube
[16:34] Saijanai Kuhn: the libsl versoin which is full perms doesn't do it
[16:34] Andrew Linden: I don't want to force this to be a Havok4-only discussion, but I'm very Havok4-focused lately
[16:34] Saijanai Kuhn: Neither does the version with the UUID's ripped from the cache
[16:35] Andrew Linden: and personally am not working on many non-havok4 bugs
[16:35] Saijanai Kuhn: No, I woulnd't have mentioend it save its Havok 4 as well
[16:35] Saijanai Kuhn: we tested that on both Macs and PCs
[16:35] Andrew Linden: however, bugs with avatar motion and physics fall under my jurisdition
[16:35] Andrew Linden: jurisdiction
[16:35] Saijanai Kuhn: just wear the ant (feet or shoulder works at least) and walk from one sim to antoher.
[16:36] Saijanai Kuhn: 100% repor on any fallthrough issue
[16:36] Andrew Linden: well, the Havok4 database is probably going to be updated in a week or so
[16:36] Saijanai Kuhn: repro*
[16:37] Andrew Linden: Sijanai, why don't you give me a copy of the ant here, and eventually I'll get it in the Havok4 preview
[16:37] Andrew Linden: when the database is updated
[16:37] Andrew Linden: then perhaps I'll actually look at it
[16:37] Saijanai Kuhn: its a no copy version. I'll give it to you anc get my won
[16:37] Andrew Linden: Do you have a jira bug open for it?
[16:38] Rex Cronon: andrew, did u get to test the llvolumedectect with the attachments?
[16:38] Saijanai Kuhn gave you ant.
[16:38] Saijanai Kuhn: not yet. Handed in my report yesterday --was homework for applying to Aric's team
[16:39] Saijanai Kuhn: THIS ant, BTW, doesn't work.
[16:39] Saijanai Kuhn: ful perms version uploaded as a test of ilbsl way back when
[16:39] Andrew Linden: I took a copy for myself Saijanai.
[16:39] Kooky Jetaime: that seems.. funny
[16:39] Andrew Linden: You can have that ant back.
[16:40] Saijanai Kuhn: you godlike creature you
[16:40] Kooky Jetaime: that one version will one won't of conceptually the same object
[16:40] Andrew Linden: Yeah, admin powers come in handy when actually working on bugs
[16:40] Kooky Jetaime chuckles
[16:40] Kooky Jetaime: both the software and creepy kind eh?
[16:40] Andrew Linden: have a seat Scooter and Pastrami
[16:41] Simon Pearse: Script run-time error
[16:41] Simon Pearse: Stack-Heap Collision
[16:41] Saijanai Kuhn: theres a fallhtrough bug at 9 Wells where if you walk one way, you fall through, but cross back, you don't
[16:41] Saijanai Kuhn: unless you wear the ant of course
[16:41] Kooky Jetaime: Simon -you just crashed out
[16:41] Rex Cronon: pastrami. that is an interesting name for a cook:)
[16:41] Simon Pearse: yep crashing out a lot tonight
[16:41] Saijanai Kuhn: is that a Giggly Puff?
[16:41] Pastrami Linden: why thank you
[16:41] Pastrami Linden: must go now
[16:42] Andrew Linden: LL has forwarded job offers to Residents who have been extremely active as bug reporters and testers in the past
[16:42] Andrew Linden: I've suggested to a few people that they apply.
[16:43] Scooter Back: I applied for a LL position. Said it would take 12 weeks to get back to me
[16:43] Saijanai Kuhn: LOL at least.
[16:43] Andrew Linden: some people refuse... they can be successful enough in SL that they don't need an LL job.
[16:43] Kooky Jetaime: heh
[16:43] Saijanai Kuhn: Aric IMed me months ago asking if I was interested
[16:43] Saijanai Kuhn: I intervewed last week
[16:43] Andrew Linden: We've also hire a few people who then leave for the same reason... greener pastures in SL
[16:43] Scooter Back: ya, my pastures dried up! lol
[16:44] PulseBurst Flow: refused? I guess it pays less than being an escort. ;-D
[16:44] Kooky Jetaime: tables getting a little
[16:44] Kooky Jetaime: crowded
[16:44] Kooky Jetaime: oh wait it is getting bigger
[16:44] Andrew Linden: It often depends on what you like to do.
[16:44] Saijanai Kuhn: does the platofrm grow too?
[16:44] Saijanai Kuhn: 'me is flexable
[16:44] Kooky Jetaime: it looked like it did when Kitto sat
[16:44] Kitto Flora: It does
[16:44] Andrew Linden: I don't think the SL fields have greener grass, but then I prefer to just code in C++ all day.
[16:45] Andrew Linden: Yeah, looks like the table grows
[16:45] Scooter Back: Smart furnature
[16:45] Scooter Back: I'm learning C++ and java
[16:45] Scooter Back: I'm a php/mysql guy
[16:45] Andrew Linden: Excellent. I think this is a new product by Ryozu
[16:45] Saijanai Kuhn: http://blip.tv/file/438493 workign on this as a client patch to help LSL scripters
[16:45] PulseBurst Flow: Hmm..wondered what the table would look like with 80 people around it.
[16:45] Kitto Flora: What happened to the change to 5pm meet?
[16:46] Andrew Linden: However, I told him that I wanted such a table. He said he'd add one to his product line.
[16:46] Andrew Linden: Sorry kitto? What change?
[16:46] Saijanai Kuhn: think he was asking about it the other day. He works fast
[16:46] Rex Cronon: until we can make a 128 m diamer table, it will have some limitations
[16:46] Scooter Back: ya, he hasn't added it to his picks or classifieds. maybe it's at his pick location
[16:46] Kitto Flora: Last week, was discussed, I thought time had been change to 5-6pm for tuesday
[16:46] Kitto Flora: and noon on thursday
[16:47] Saijanai Kuhn: could swear he was asking advice about it just a few days ago.
[16:47] Saijanai Kuhn: some people know how to script
[16:47] Andrew Linden: Oh no, I don't remember that
[16:47] Andrew Linden: I'll have to review the transcripts
[16:47] Andrew Linden: I can't do 5-6 on Tuesdays
[16:47] Andrew Linden: however... I recall talking about noon on Thursdays. I don't recall commiting though.
[16:48] Andrew Linden: The transcripts will remember.
[16:48] Kitto Flora: I wont be ablte to do before 5pm for any longer really
[16:48] Andrew Linden: (no one go onto the wiki and edit the transcripts please :-)
[16:48] Kooky Jetaime: heh
[16:48] Kitto Flora: Noon is a mabe.. iffy.. depends whats going on
[16:48] Andrew Linden: I've got the transcripts on file anyway. I'd probably just grap and browse via VIM
[16:49] Kitto Flora: Anyways looks like there s a month or two of bugs backed up
[16:49] Kitto Flora: Any news?
[16:49] Andrew Linden: well, Kitto no need to show up every hour. I just wanted some euro friendly hours
[16:49] Andrew Linden: Yeah... lots of bugs. Lessee, what is the status on Havok4...
[16:50] Andrew Linden: We've fixed a few bugs, one relatively important one.
[16:50] Andrew Linden: Dan Linden is testing it today. I expect to push it out tomorrow.
[16:50] Andrew Linden: The biggest bug that was fixed was a center of mass problem.
[16:50] Andrew Linden: Most linked objects rezzed from inventory or duplicated in place would get the wrong center of mass
[16:51] Andrew Linden: the center of mass would sit at the center of the root object
[16:51] Andrew Linden: I suspect this caused some of the vehicle problems that were reported.
[16:51] PulseBurst Flow: should update http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Office_Hours and mention Havok as a topic
[16:51] Ryozu Yamamoto: Ooh, sorry I"m late, I was uh.. sewing
[16:51] PulseBurst Flow: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Office_Hours#Andrew_Linden
[16:51] Andrew Linden: It turns out it was a bug in Havok4... sometimes the center of mass was not properly saved when the object was selected.
[16:51] Andrew Linden: Hey Ryozu, you making a Halloween costume?
[16:52] Andrew Linden: Thanks for the cool table, btw.
[16:52] Kooky Jetaime: Pulse - Havok has its own hour entry, but, I'd agree that its confusing
[16:52] Ryozu Yamamoto: Cat tale for the girlfriend actually
[16:52] Ryozu Yamamoto: tail
[16:52] Kooky Jetaime: tail?
[16:52] Kooky Jetaime: kinky
[16:52] Ryozu Yamamoto: There's an updated version of the table, by the way =)
[16:52] Andrew Linden: I sewed my costume on Saturday. I made a pirate coat and some other accoutrements
[16:52] Ryozu Yamamoto gave you Chair.Array v1.1 Beta.
[16:53] Ryozu Yamamoto: Arrr matey
[16:53] Ryozu Yamamoto: So what I miss so far?
[16:53] Andrew Linden: I was just giving a summary of what has been fixed recently.
[16:53] Andrew Linden: I fixed a center of mass problem that may have caused many other bugs to be entered into the system
[16:54] Andrew Linden: so I want to get that fix out soon
[16:54] Andrew Linden: probably tomorrow
[16:54] Ryozu Yamamoto: Sweet
[16:54] Andrew Linden: The Havok engineers are still working on the crash bugs...
[16:54] Andrew Linden: I'm going to ping them tomorrow to see what the status of those are
[16:55] Andrew Linden: Also, there are a number of bugs in the public jira that are fixed but just not closed yet.
[16:55] Kitto Flora: Is that coying linked prims crash likely to be a Havok problem?
[16:55] Kitto Flora: copying
[16:55] Andrew Linden: In fact, Ryozu, I tried duplicating the non-critically-damped llMoveToTarget() on attachments
[16:55] Andrew Linden: and it seems to be working correctly
[16:55] Andrew Linden: I changed a few things around that last week
[16:56] Andrew Linden: I was hoping you could test your content again and verify some bugs
[16:57] Andrew Linden: I was just starting to work on Seifert's avatar pusher stuff from "The Future"
[16:57] Andrew Linden: right before this meeting
[16:57] Andrew Linden: I'll probably fix that tomorrow
[16:57] Second Life: Your object 'Chair.Array [OmniTech]' has been returned to your inventory lost and found folder by Governor Linden from parcel 'Brampton Linden Stage' at Brampton 108.361, 153.337 due to parcel auto return.
[16:57] Andrew Linden: heh, the table was returned
[16:58] Kitto Flora: DId the future catch up with the table top?
[16:58] Ryozu Yamamoto: Whoops
[16:58] Ryozu Yamamoto: =D
[16:58] Kitto Flora: Timed out
[16:58] Kooky Jetaime: lovely
[16:58] Saijanai Kuhn: wonder if the ant did that... ;-)
[16:58] Ryozu Yamamoto: I'll go over all the Jira bugs I know how to test tomorrow and close out ones I can verify fixed
[16:58] Rex Cronon: warning: if u stand up u can loose your chair:)
[16:58] Andrew Linden: I don't think the return code will return the seats as long as they have seated avatars
[16:58] Kooky Jetaime: no it won't
[16:58] Kitto Flora: Yes
[16:59] Kooky Jetaime: but the empty seat will go
[16:59] Kitto Flora: Like... correct
[16:59] Kooky Jetaime: after the elapsed time
[16:59] Andrew Linden: I jest sorta... I wrote that code.
[16:59] Kooky Jetaime: and
[16:59] Kooky Jetaime: what happens with the seats without the control table/
[16:59] Kooky Jetaime: or are the chairs self controlled?
[16:59] Andrew Linden: We need someone new to come by and sit down -- we'll find out.
[17:00] Andrew Linden: I actually have some land I was going to use for office hours
[17:00] Andrew Linden: however it is in Wengen, and someone turned Wengen into a WA a while ago
[17:00] Andrew Linden: so there is now always a heavy crowd
[17:01] Saijanai Kuhn: a WA?
[17:01] Andrew Linden: WA = welcome area
[17:01] Saijanai Kuhn: ah, ok
[17:02] Kitto Flora: Speaking of which, the orientation island in Beta is not accessible
[17:02] Andrew Linden: No? Hrm...
[17:02] Kitto Flora: So cant test that whats there works
[17:03] Andrew Linden: Hey, you're right Kitto. None have been enabled on the preview.
[17:03] Kitto Flora: And probably cant test anthing else due to usual perm settings there
[17:03] Kitto Flora: So - its a useless sim?
[17:03] Ryozu Yamamoto: Actually
[17:03] Andrew Linden: As far as I can tell there is no orientation island enabled or up on the preview
[17:03] Ryozu Yamamoto: "Help Island" is accessible on the beta, IF, you can get there on the mainland (Mentors, etc)
[17:03] Andrew Linden: I'll set one up tomorrow.
[17:04] Kitto Flora: Theres one there can can set tp to it but cant go there
[17:04] Andrew Linden: well, as someone mentioned,
[17:04] Kitto Flora: The spec for Beta said there should be an OI
[17:04] Andrew Linden: it looks like we have a month worth of bugs piled up
[17:04] Saijanai Kuhn: perhaps the login point was counted as that
[17:04] Andrew Linden: No, I think there is supposed to be an OI up
[17:05] Andrew Linden: however, I wasn't in charge of the initial regions selected for the preview
[17:05] Andrew Linden: I assumed that an OI had been set up
[17:05] Kitto Flora: Needs to be a Public OI to be useful
[17:05] Andrew Linden: Some Lindens were talking to me about how to test OI via email
[17:05] Andrew Linden: I'll have to re-read that one
[17:06] Andrew Linden: Yeah, I don't see any reason why the preview OI couldn't be public
[17:06] Andrew Linden: I'll make a note...
[17:06] Kitto Flora: Most complicated thing there is the beachball
[17:06] PulseBurst Flow: currently can't try Beta if you are newer than July, is that right?
[17:06] Kitto Flora: it may have some interesting changes dire to H4
[17:07] Kitto Flora: due...
[17:07] Kooky Jetaime: heh
[17:07] Kooky Jetaime: the beach ball
[17:07] Andrew Linden: Yes but... I think Sidewinder is planning on updating the preview database
[17:07] Andrew Linden: which would allow newer accounts to access it
[17:07] Kooky Jetaime: if thats broken in H4, then its nowhere near ready to go live
[17:07] Rex Cronon: what is the deal with the beach ball?
[17:07] PulseBurst Flow: ok thanks
[17:07] Saijanai Kuhn: so yo did a snapshot of inventory but not of avtar presnce?
[17:07] Second Life: Your object 'Chair' has been returned to your inventory lost and found folder by Governor Linden from parcel 'Brampton Linden Stage' at Brampton 109.459, 152.416 due to parcel auto return.
[17:07] Kitto Flora: Its a physical
[17:07] Kitto Flora: and its got some fancy scripting
[17:07] Kitto Flora: to prevent noobs from messing it up
[17:08] Andrew Linden: The snapshot would be of the entire main db
[17:08] Andrew Linden: the inventories are updated piecemeal... when you login
[17:08] Andrew Linden: What we do is flag all accounts with a "pending transform"
[17:08] Kooky Jetaime: Oh, so they are done at login?
[17:08] Andrew Linden: when they login the transform is run
[17:08] Kitto Flora: New DB snap shot would be good, I have 2 new vehicles since the one thats there now
[17:09] Kitto Flora: Oh - 3 new...
[17:09] Andrew Linden: or transforms, as the case may be
[17:09] Andrew Linden: if we transformed everyone the db snapshot would take forever
[17:10] Andrew Linden: oh... our empty chair has vanished
[17:10] Kitto Flora: I reckon 75% + of the people in Beta are not doing testing at all, they are doing product development for MG
[17:10] Kooky Jetaime: heh
[17:10] Andrew Linden: MG?
[17:10] Kitto Flora: MG OI WA
[17:10] Kooky Jetaime: main grid
[17:10] Kooky Jetaime looks at Andrew and thinks perhaps he should go home early
[17:11] Andrew Linden: Ah, well that may be fine.
[17:11] Saijanai Kuhn: interesting. So how does that work?
[17:11] Kitto Flora: Its cheap and quiet to use
[17:11] Kitto Flora: Lots of free lindens for those uploading and trying
[17:11] Kitto Flora: textures
[17:11] Andrew Linden: Right.
[17:11] Kooky Jetaime: yep
[17:11] Saijanai Kuhn: ah, ok, so testing of new ideas to bring back to maingrid
[17:11] Ryozu Yamamoto: Half my reason for testing is because of my products on the main grid =D
[17:12] Ryozu Yamamoto: The other half being, I want SL to work ^_^
[17:12] Kitto Flora: Me to Ryozu
[17:12] Rex Cronon: can be cost prohibitive to upload loats of textures on the MG
[17:12] Andrew Linden: Kitto, you're a fairly active tester.
[17:12] Saijanai Kuhn: the L$ isn't even considered a money sink, just a way to keep people from clogging the system with arbitrary textures
[17:12] Andrew Linden: Do you work on all the previews? Or is this new to the Havok4 project?
[17:12] Kitto Flora: I'd be more active, but stimied by the existing bugs
[17:13] Ryozu Yamamoto: Same here Kitto
[17:13] Ryozu Yamamoto: I'm waiting for some to get fixed to make sure others aren't just a side effect
[17:13] Kitto Flora: I've tested stuff on many previews over the last few years
[17:13] Kitto Flora: H4 is by far the most broken to date. But hardly surprising that it is
[17:14] Andrew Linden: Ryozu, you've mentioned before that you are waiting for some particular bugs to be fixed.
[17:14] Andrew Linden: Which ones are those?
[17:14] Ryozu Yamamoto: Well now that I know about it, the center of gravity bug
[17:14] Ryozu Yamamoto: There's the funky behavior of llMoveToTarget
[17:14] Andrew Linden: Ok, that fix will be deployed tomorrow. What else?
[17:14] Andrew Linden: you mean llMoveToTarget on attachments, right?
[17:14] Ryozu Yamamoto: Not just attachments
[17:15] Andrew Linden: I was testing that today and it seemed to be working right, for attachments.
[17:15] Ryozu Yamamoto: http://youtube.com/watch?v=QViT25MWtVU
[17:15] Andrew Linden: That is the one with the avatar bouncing next to a normal prim, right?
[17:15] Ryozu Yamamoto: Nope
[17:15] Ryozu Yamamoto: Just a normal prim
[17:16] Andrew Linden: Oh ok, I'll look at it then, on the side
[17:16] Ryozu Yamamoto: Tau of 0.05
[17:16] Ryozu Yamamoto: Distance aproximatly 5m
[17:17] Andrew Linden: Ok, I'll try to look at that tomorrow. I was in the middle of some llPushObject() bugs
[17:17] Ryozu Yamamoto: Cool =)
[17:18] Kitto Flora wonders about SVC-861
[17:18] Andrew Linden: I haven't had a chance to work on that one Kitto
[17:18] Andrew Linden: And it isn't on my list for this week
[17:19] Andrew Linden: however, it is good to know which bugs are considered as blockers for testing other stuff
[17:19] Andrew Linden: at this point, there are some bigger projects I'm going to have to start working on soon
[17:19] Andrew Linden: maybe next week
[17:19] Andrew Linden: and I was trying to focus on the pile of annoying but easy bugs this week
[17:20] Andrew Linden: I wonder why SVC-861 got assigned to me
[17:20] Andrew Linden: I'll assign it to Kelly or Simon. I think they're getting short on bugs already.
[17:21] Andrew Linden: Kitto, you're confident that 861 is still a bug?
[17:21] Andrew Linden: That is, you tested it recently?
[17:21] Andrew Linden: I wonder if kelly already fixed that.
[17:21] Andrew Linden: He was working on some linking bugs
[17:22] Kitto Flora: I didnt test it yesterday
[17:22] Kitto Flora: Sidewinder assigned it to you :)
[17:22] Andrew Linden: Oh well don't worry about it. Leave it open and we'll get around to it
[17:22] Andrew Linden: and close it if we can't reproduce it
[17:22] Kitto Flora: I Think its the root cause of many of 'airplane/car/whatever vehicle quits at the border bugs
[17:22] Andrew Linden: but it is nice to get the little script in the comments that duplicates the problem
[17:23] Andrew Linden: Ok. I think Kelly was working on a new border crossing bug today.
[17:23] Rex Cronon: could there be a link to page that gives a list with all the bugs regarding havok4. what has been fixed, what is being fixed, and what will be fixed?
[17:23] Andrew Linden: I'll assign it to him.
[17:23] Saijanai Kuhn: isn't there a search link already built into jira for that?
[17:24] Saijanai Kuhn: give him a copy of Qarl's Ant
[17:25] Andrew Linden: I don't think there are filters for those categories of bugs yet
[17:25] Andrew Linden: at least not global filters
[17:25] Saijanai Kuhn: Zha Ewry thinks it might be some estoeric server bug where different textures are stored in different locations and the latency of grabbing them in acertain order causes too much lag
[17:25] Kitto Flora: Looks like the bug is still there Andrew
[17:25] Rex Cronon: for examaple i think qarl has a list with all the bugs regarding sculpties
[17:25] Andrew Linden: If you look at what is assigned and in progress for me... that is mostly up to date
[17:26] Scooter Back: this forum, is it for bugs, or can feature requests be brought up? Even a small one?
[17:26] Andrew Linden: Feature requests are fair game.
[17:26] Scooter Back: ok, just asking, if the topics head that way I'll pop in
[17:26] Scooter Back: I'm interested in hearing more about h4 testing
[17:26] Andrew Linden: Well, we're running out of time Scooter.
[17:26] Saijanai Kuhn: robots.
[17:26] Andrew Linden: I've got to leave around 17:30
[17:27] Saijanai Kuhn wnats joints with tranlsation capability so we can do transformer transformations
[17:27] Scooter Back: no prob, I put it on the request forum so no worries
[17:27] Andrew Linden: oof... joints are a long ways off
[17:27] Kitto Flora: KP9: Changed Link ... its still there
[17:27] Saijanai Kuhn: figured
[17:27] Saijanai Kuhn: just saying... ;-)
[17:27] Andrew Linden: joints will be a big project... we won't start that until Havok4 is done and we've knocked off some of the easier features
[17:28] Andrew Linden: also... we'll probably work on hierrchical objects before joints
[17:28] Saijanai Kuhn: inda figured that. A tleast a year away to get started, I'm guessing
[17:28] Andrew Linden: joints would be easier if we had hierarchies
[17:28] Saijanai Kuhn: yep
[17:28] Saijanai Kuhn: my sign would "just run" too
[17:29] Kitto Flora: Possibly physical heirarchical, with more than 31 prims?
[17:29] Ryozu Yamamoto: Oof
[17:29] Andrew Linden: Yes, that is a possibility.
[17:29] Kitto Flora: That would open up a lot of possiblities
[17:29] Andrew Linden: The >31 prim problem will be solved after we can spend some resources on border crossings and what we call the "object transport" project
[17:30] Andrew Linden: "object transport" will probably start sometime after Havok4 and WindLight are done
[17:30] Ryozu Yamamoto: Optimized Serial/Deserialization? <3
[17:30] Andrew Linden: Yes Ryozu
[17:30] Saijanai Kuhn: a joint heirachy that honored child parent relitionhips in rotations/translations would allow reaonsably fast robots by itself
[17:30] Carabella Babii: Hello
[17:30] Ryozu Yamamoto: Every time I hop in a plane, I yearn for smoother sim crossings...
[17:30] Ryozu Yamamoto: Either that, or bigger sims
[17:30] Carabella Babii: is this a private meeting
[17:30] Rex Cronon: hi
[17:30] Andrew Linden: Yes, in fact robots are the main example I give when trying to justify hierarchies
[17:30] Saijanai Kuhn: join the AW Groupies and contribute to the wish list
[17:30] Ryozu Yamamoto: Nope, not private, but closet to being over
[17:31] Ryozu Yamamoto: Already in it Saij ;)
[17:31] Andrew Linden: Yeah, we're going to have to wrap up... I've got to run.
[17:31] Saijanai Kuhn is now accepting AW Groupie requiests
[17:31] Andrew Linden: Thanks everyone for coming.
[17:31] Saijanai Kuhn: thanks for hosting this Andrew
[17:31] Second Life: Your object 'Chair' has been returned to your inventory lost and found folder by Governor Linden from parcel 'Brampton Linden Stage' at Brampton 107.645, 154.577 due to parcel auto return.
[17:31] Carabella Babii: ok
[17:31] Kitto Flora: Robots -- walking animals... were legs are animated in groups
[17:31] Scooter Back: thanks Andrew
[17:31] Kooky Jetaime: you know, a nice 512x512 or 1024x1024 sim might be nice for planes
[17:31] Kooky Jetaime: limit building
[17:31] PulseBurst Flow: thanks andrew
[17:31] Scooter Back: I love this table!
[17:31] Rex Cronon: u see u stand up chair is gon
[17:31] Saijanai Kuhn: also sculptie animations but thta's more Qarl's issue
[17:31] Ryozu Yamamoto: Exactly Kooky
[17:31] Rex Cronon: gone
[17:31] Kooky Jetaime: just pure vehicle fun
[17:32] Ryozu Yamamoto: Too bad 256 is too much of an assumption in the code
[17:32] Scooter Back: how much are you selling it for Ryozu?
[17:32] Ryozu Yamamoto: Selling?
[17:32] Ryozu Yamamoto: Oh, the table
[17:32] Andrew Linden: Ryozu, you just recently made the table, right?
[17:32] Ryozu Yamamoto: Yeah
[17:32] Ryozu Yamamoto: I promised I'd make one for yah
[17:32] Scooter Back: Are you going to sell it?
[17:32] Kooky Jetaime stays lazy and has the only chair here
[17:32] Ryozu Yamamoto: Sorry I missed last meeting, I slept thorugh it ;_;
[17:32] Scooter Back: or was it custom for Andrew?
[17:32] Kitto Flora: Isnt that a multigadget table?
[17:32] Scooter Back: Thanks!
