  • [10:06 SLT] Kitty Beery: sure we do, for the bit more experienced players the idea is great
  • [10:06 SLT] Shadow Pidgeon: its not really the first hour they need help with.. its the first week
  • [10:06 SLT] Jezzie McCellan: I think that it will be little used and whatever is there can be found in the KB, the wiki or the forums
  • [10:07 SLT] Lexie Linden: I think there are many basic account residents that would use that type help

  • [10:08 SLT] Kitty Beery: we had starters at the education faire too, they realy need one to one help.

  • [10:08 SLT] Jezzie McCellan: no the KB doesn't but anyone can ask a question in the Forums and very knowledgable people will respond

  • [10:09 SLT] Lexie Linden: I wanted to be sure you all realized that this idea is not mandatory participation

  • [10:09 SLT] Lexie Linden: I think there will always be "official" info and the info of residents helping residents
  • [10:10 SLT] Lexie Linden: I think the forums are good too
  • [10:10 SLT] Kitty Beery: I get a lot of questions why applications won't reopen lexie. Why is that? Aren't you going to hire more mentors?
  • [10:10 SLT] Lexie Linden: I think alot of what we have is hard to search if you are not familiar
  • [10:11 SLT] Lara Shepherd: yes, they are, but for new residents the forums will be hard
  • [10:11 SLT] Lexie Linden: Its related to dev work and we have not been able to get a date when that area will open.
  • [10:11 SLT] Kitty Beery: new residents won't have access to the forums,without payment info

  • [10:12 SLT] Lexie Linden: But I think volunteer help can be for more than brand new people too
  • [10:12 SLT] Kitty Beery: it is, i'm asked for advice often by experienced users too

  • [10:12 SLT] Lexie Linden: I think volunteers will always want to be on hand for new people in world but the knowledge can help more than those on HI or in the WA's etc

We were told to focus on new user areas, then told that those of us who prefer to focus on older residents and not at new user areas will not be supported. that we don't need a tag to do that. now we are being told that we should focus on older residents. I am sure you can see that this is all very confusing.

  • [10:16 SLT] Chaos Mohr: there are still a number of KB's that say go to Help Island and ask for help - as long as HIP exists there will always be those who seek answers there
  • [10:16 SLT] Lexie Linden: Actually no..we are not saying you should focus on older residents
  • [10:17 SLT] Lexie Linden: The idea is an extension of what you already do
  • [10:17 SLT] SullyBaby Gomez: heling those who need help i would like to think is what our focus is...

  • [10:17 SLT] Lexie Linden: And it is documentation of what you do that will benefit older users
  • [10:17 SLT] Kitty Beery: to make the older residents more self supporting i guess
  • [10:18 SLT] Lexie Linden: Volunteers can still help in the way they feel is best for their own preference
  • [10:18 SLT] Lexie Linden: But there are some volunteers who have asked for this type set up
  • [10:18 SLT] Lexie Linden: Everyone helps people in their own way. And thats good

  • [10:21 SLT] Neovo Geesink: With the HUD Lum provided, it is allready a lot better, since we now can see where Mentors are needed.
  • [10:21 SLT] SullyBaby Gomez: one thing ive noticed at the HI's is that not all the new people, regardless of the amount of encouragment you give them, are they wanting/willing to read everything at those locations that will help them

  • [10:22 SLT] Kitty Beery: nou we have 20 islands with each 4 residents.....
  • [10:22 SLT] Lexie Linden: Kitty the HI are load balanced so the new residents are distributed
  • [10:23 SLT] Kitty Beery: i know they are, but maybe it can be approved? Only an idea
  • [10:23 SLT] Lexie Linden: Blue would be the best one to talk about that though. Its his "area"
  • [10:24 SLT] Lexie Linden: He has office hours every week and is NUE focused so should be a good hour
