Hello there!

SuellaEmber.jpg

You are looking at Suella Ember's User Page on the Second Life wiki.

This page is written by Suella Ember, who is a little freaked out writing about herself in the third person! The reason I'm ... no wait! ... the reason she's writing in the third person is because she's a good girl and is sticking like glue to the editing guidelines!

She's also being her usual cheeky self and recognises that writing in the first person is obviously acceptable on a self-written User Page, so is now going to do just that!

I'm writing this page as a learning exercise to better understand how to edit Wiki pages. I like to help, you see, and have been promising Torley Linden for ages that I will get my head around Wiki editing so that I can contribute to keeping the great content here up-to-date and relevant.

Any similarity between this page and Torley Linden's own User Page is purely coincidental (or possibly due to the fact that I copied some of the code from his page in my attempt to learn the Wiki formatting!) ;-)

Personality

I first joined Second Life back in 2006 under the avatar name of Susie Stardust and yes, I did do the whole 'club pole dancer' thing for a short while. It seemed like the thing you were supposed to do! However, I was never any good at it because I was always too busy being a bit of a crazy loon (as is my wont) and couldn't be bothered to actually flirt with anyone to get tips! So I gave that up and decided to reinvent myself as Suella Ember who I have happily been living my Second Life as ever since.

Suella is pretty much entirely me in avatar form and, while it is my choice to never really reveal much about my 'first life', my online personality is basically the same as my 'real' personality. I'm not one for adopting an alternative persona - what you see is what you get with me! I'm cheeky, sarcastic, fun and a little bit crazy, but I'm also smart, helpful, thoughtful and a little bit of a wordsmith (I mean, when was the last time you heard someone use the phrase 'as is my wont' for goodness sake ... Or use the word 'wordsmith' for that matter!)

What I do in Second Life

My main focus in Second Life is with my costume store, 'Je Voudrais Costumes', However, I also have two new businesses in the works - 'Fete Party Goods & Decorations' and 'Roux Redhead Art & Accessories'. I intend to bring these together under the banner of the 'Tapis Rouge' group of businesses along with my personal blog under the 'Braise' banner.

If you are good with languages (or French!) you may have noticed that all my business names are French. I started 'Je Voudrais Costumes' some time ago and chose the name simply because it sounded good! When I decided to work on 'Fete' and 'Roux' it seemed logical to stick with the French theme, and I also decided to switch my personal blog to the name 'Braise'. 'Tapis Rouge' completed the theme as an overall group brand.

Here's your at a glance guide to my genius use of the French language (actually I can't speak very good French at all!) :

  • Tapis Rouge (noun; masculine) - red carpet, rolled out in honour of a VIP. See what I did there?! It's both a clever pun on providing 'the red carpet treatment' to my customers and a cheeky nod to the age old question we redheads get asked, "does the carpet match the drapes?!" (The answer to which I'm not going to give on a public Wiki!)
  • Je Voudrais (phrase) - I would like. No particular pun there, it just sounds good!
  • Fete (noun; feminine) - holiday; celebration; fair; festival. All the types of events I intend to create decorations and accessories for!
  • Roux (adjective) - red; ginger; auburn hair. In other words 'roux' is essentially French for 'redhead'. As a natural redhead myself it just seemed like a natural progression to start creating things for redheads and their admirers (plus it has come to my attention that redheads are popular in Second Life - I always knew everyone really wants to be a redhead!)
  • Braise (noun; feminine) - fire ember. My surname is 'Ember', see?! I really am a genius! :-)
