Walden Mannonen: TORLEY!
Freddie Dalglish: back
Torley Linden: FRIENDLY GREETINGS!
Torley Linden: :D
Walden Mannonen: awww hello cute dragon :)
Torley Linden: Hello hello!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hio torley ^-^
JetZep Zabelin: Hiya Torley
Damona Rau: hey Torley :-)
Tamasin Demina: hey Torley, happy new year
Torley Linden: Hehe I coulda either been the dragon or Totorleyo but I like 'em both!
Torley Linden: Happy New Year. :) 2008 is in motion!
Walden Mannonen: Totorleyo? :)
Freddie Dalglish: Torley can you help me?
Torley Linden: Amon26, you have awesome backpacks. Thanks for the #4 one again!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: totorleyo? oh the tororo?
Amon26 Yellowjacket: er.. totoro
Torley Linden: Freddie, what do you need help with?
Torley Linden: Yes the Totoro.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: ooo youre very welcome!!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: its good to see you again :-D
Freddie Dalglish: well last night i clicked on the search button
Torley Linden: Sorry I can't exchange friendships! But thanks for asking.
Freddie Dalglish: and then moved the page to the bottom of the screen and now it has gone
JetZep Zabelin: hehe, I like the name Totorleyo, its like Tutoorlio
Walden Mannonen: how do you like my watermelon tarantula? :)
JetZep Zabelin: tutorilio
JetZep Zabelin: i mean Tutorlio
Torley Linden: Freddie, the Search window moved off your screen, you mean?
Torley Linden: HAHAHA. That's even better JetZep.
Freddie Dalglish: yes
Amon26 Yellowjacket: ah yes, the phantom search window case.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: this one stumped me too
Amon26 Yellowjacket: eeeee! totoro!! :-D
Torley Linden: OMG Romsey that looks awesome!
ROMSEY Homewood: hello!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hehe
ROMSEY Homewood: ty made it myself
Walden Mannonen: ohhh THAT is Totoro
Torley Linden: Freddie, hmmm... if you moved it off the bottom, you can try hiding chat bar and toolbar. Have you done that already?
Amon26 Yellowjacket: romsey wins the avatar contest.. forever.
ROMSEY Homewood: full size Totoro
Freddie Dalglish: yes
Torley Linden: Haha ROMSEY, can I buy one of those somewhere?
JetZep Zabelin: cool
Walden Mannonen: he's cute! Where does he come from? :)
Freddie Dalglish: actually how do i move the chat bar?
Torley Linden: Freddie: You can't per se, but you can hide it from View menu.
Torley Linden: Or close with Esc.
ROMSEY Homewood: havent quite finished it yet
Tamasin Demina: try messing with resolution, it might pop back in, then stick it in the center and reset resolution
Freddie Dalglish: ok i will try closing it with escape
Amon26 Yellowjacket: did you try jiggling the cord?
Randal Kline: make the eyes blink : )
Torley Linden: Yeah, I would try having SL in Windowed mode and making SL's window bigger... and move it to the edge of the desktop.
JetZep Zabelin: yes, Escape =)
Torley Linden: ROMSEY, it would be soo awesome if you gave Totoro a GIANT SMILE too...
Amon26 Yellowjacket: yeah, he even un-installed it and the window was still offscreen
Freddie Dalglish: i just pressed escape and there is nothing on the screen
Walden Mannonen: I can imagine Torley's excited voice in everything he types, cuz I love his videos :)
Walden Mannonen: hehe
Torley Linden: Amon26, hmmm that is frustrating. I think if you know how to edit the settings file, it shows window coordinates in there.
Randal Kline: deleting the appdata folder might help
Torley Linden: Hahaha thanks Walden! And yes, I often talk like that regularly.
Torley Linden: There's a lot to be excited about.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: yowza
Tamasin Demina: torley i have a cool little gift for you, catch
Walden Mannonen: and are you Canadian? You sound a little.
ROMSEY Homewood: i think i need to shrink a little!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: no way you have the chibi totoro!
Walden Mannonen: awww hehehe little totoro
ROMSEY Homewood: i can see evryone now!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: eeehehehee
Walden Mannonen: I'd like to get a copy of that and the big one, sometime :)
Torley Linden: Walden, yes, it's funny, I don't know what a Canadian accent is, but I guess I have one!
Torley Linden: Thanks Tamasin! What does this do?
JetZep Zabelin: lol
Walden Mannonen: means you say "aboot" or whatever
Tamasin Demina: it gives floating text song details of the music stream
ROMSEY Homewood: this one is only 30L$
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hm, you elongate the "ai" in "against" sometimes, which is common to canadians
Walden Mannonen: and Torley is surrounded by two pretty girls, yayzerama ;)
Walden Mannonen: As in 'agaynst'
Tamasin Demina: auto updates the song title cool for djs or if you just wanna know the details of the stream
Amon26 Yellowjacket: yarp
Torley Linden: Ahhhh.
Torley Linden: =^_^=
Walden Mannonen: Torley's so cute in his dragon :)
Torley Linden: Randal, you look like a mini-Philip!
Torley Linden: I like how this dragon looks... so... darn... happy!
Randal Kline: : )
Amon26 Yellowjacket: watch as total strangers pick apart your linguistic idiosynchacies, yeek
Torley Linden: I like mythical lake monsters.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: hehe
Tamasin Demina: would be cool if we could get the music details from the parcel with a function, i think someones startying a jira for that though :D
Walden Mannonen: with his av's legs sticking out down below, but of course that can't be helped ;)
Randal Kline: always wanted that hair
Walden Mannonen: hehe
Torley Linden: Haha Amon26, if anything, I hope those idiosyncracies get picked up more on... each of us has a unique voice. :)
ROMSEY Homewood: he does, butt nekkid last week
Amon26 Yellowjacket: truetrue! :-D
JetZep Zabelin: You should have a lockness monster in your water
Freddie Dalglish: Everyone. Ive got my search button back!!!!!
Torley Linden: Tamasin, I'd like to see better integration of media... we're working on some projects in that vein...
Randal Kline: am i the only one seeing Damona turning round and round?
Torley Linden: JetZep, awhile ago I had some water-based pokemon!
Torley Linden: OMG nice Freddie!
Walden Mannonen: Watermelochness
Torley Linden: How did you get it back?
JetZep Zabelin: Damona's been spinning since I got here
Torley Linden: I see Damona twirlin' like a pop 80s song!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: somewhere along the way, we've adopted our own slang
Amon26 Yellowjacket: in my town
Freddie Dalglish: im not sure to be honest. I put this in full screen and then back again
Randal Kline: made a mistake by zooming in on here earlier lol
JetZep Zabelin: hmm Damona, you didnt have to stop i liked that =D
Randal Kline: *her
Freddie Dalglish: and when i clicked the button it came back
JetZep Zabelin: ah a water pokemon!
Walden Mannonen: I like the Torleyisms, they're fun
Amon26 Yellowjacket: we use the word "jank" to mean either "steal or snatch up" or "to be of bad quality"
Walden Mannonen: like Yayzerama, and Friendly Greetings! :)
Amon26 Yellowjacket: and why? im not sure
ROMSEY Homewood: oops
Amon26 Yellowjacket: yesyes ^,^
Walden Mannonen: Torley is surrounded by pretty women :)
Amon26 Yellowjacket: ive told a few people of yayzerama,
Walden Mannonen: hehe
Torley Linden: I'm a married avatar but it's nice to be noticed! =)
JetZep Zabelin: hehe
Walden Mannonen: hehe yeah
Amon26 Yellowjacket: heh ^-^
Torley Linden: Hahahaha Amon26, someone was telling me how much he liked the word "janky"... it was Brent Linden!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: no wai!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: creepysmall world o.O
Torley Linden: Yayzerama is a very 80s sort of thing to me... from "yay" + "lazerama", I was thinking of Bowl-A-Ramas and laser light shows and the focus and energy that comes with that.
Torley Linden: YES WAI!
Torley Linden: Haha when I hear "wai" I think of the O RLY owl too. =)
Amon26 Yellowjacket: awsommm
Torley Linden: I actually had a page awhile ago explaining the origins behind certain Torleyisms... would anyone be interested in seeing it?
Walden Mannonen: hey Torley, do you notice my tarantula? It's from Grendel's...
Amon26 Yellowjacket: haha sure
Becky Pippen: Oh yes, Torley
JetZep Zabelin: spider under the table
Walden Mannonen: one of their default colors, Ironically
Torley Linden: http://torley.com/torleys-slexicon :)
Torley Linden: Yes Walden!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: ooorryeah! i love custom lingo!
Torley Linden: I really like it!
Torley Linden: Those Grendel's Children folks... they make so many avatars.
Walden Mannonen: Oh yes :) I love them all! :)
Becky Pippen: It's lexicious!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: does anyone remember way back in the day, when people used to say "discoed" when they got knocked offline?
Torley Linden: Hahahaha Amon26, that's the first I heard of that, I THINK.
Walden Mannonen: I call this the Torleyrantula. :)
JetZep Zabelin: Torley how do you get so much creative output going
ROMSEY Homewood: haha!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: wha, discoed?
Torley Linden: Haha ROMSEY that av is just too cute, when did you start working on it?
ROMSEY Homewood: day b4 yesterday
Torley Linden: JetZep, a lot of it has to do with writing ideas down so when I have time, then I can fill that time with making stuff... and I don't get bored.
Walden Mannonen: What is a Tortoro anyway? :)
ROMSEY Homewood: doesnt take long
Torley Linden: Sometimes during lulls in meetings or if they start late, then I pen down scraps and work in increments.
ROMSEY Homewood: err...forest spirit
Amon26 Yellowjacket: its from this 80s anime called "my neighbor totoro"
Walden Mannonen: ahhh cool :)
Torley Linden: There are many few-minute bits of time throughout the day you can put to use.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: its actually a very sweet and cute film
ROMSEY Homewood: gr8 film
JetZep Zabelin: You're right, somewhere I think I stopped writing things down and so they get forgotten :P
Torley Linden: JetZep: Writing things down doesn't just preserve them, it also reinforces their power in your mind.
Torley Linden: When you write about stuff, your mind also echoes/repeats what you're writing.
Walden Mannonen: Oh yes, absolutely.
JetZep Zabelin: I like that
Torley Linden: Even if it's subconsciousnessly, so if you write about ideas you want to come true... they become more real this way.
Walden Mannonen: Oh it's No-face :)
Walden Mannonen: hehe
Walden Mannonen: I have one too :)
Torley Linden: HAHAHAH OMG! Ghiblifest!
ROMSEY Homewood: cool isnt it
Amon26 Yellowjacket: my favorite slang i think ive heard came from some guy who had an archive online of obscure NES historical facts and things..
Amon26 Yellowjacket: good things he called "K-rad"
Amon26 Yellowjacket: bad things he called "Soz"
ROMSEY Homewood: hehe!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: we never figured out how he made those up
Amon26 Yellowjacket: but we adopted them into ordinary lingo around my town a bit
Amon26 Yellowjacket: "my car broke down.. total soz"
Walden Mannonen: maybe not as good as yours Romsey, but it's another one from Grendel's
JetZep Zabelin: LOL
Amon26 Yellowjacket: oooo i like the hands!
Torley Linden: Ohhh the spirits are alive!
Torley Linden: K-rad sounds familiar... I wonder where I've heard that before.
ROMSEY Homewood: wooooh
Tamasin Demina: i think judgement is my fave grendels avatar
Torley Linden: Which game is "Soz" from?
Amon26 Yellowjacket: soz? not sure
Walden Mannonen: I like no-face, it's cute :) from of course Spirited Away, a really great movie :)
Torley Linden: I haven't seen Spirited Away. My brother is big into Miyazaki stuff...
Moard Ling: woohoo spirited away
ROMSEY Homewood: xclnt movie, gr8 imagination
Torley Linden: I saw Paprika, another anime... it was very trippy.
Torley Linden: Anyone else see nthat?
Amon26 Yellowjacket: not yet
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i did see a really funky one called like.. tenkonkin street or something like that?
Tamasin Demina: my friend pays his rl rent because an anime series uses one of his songs
Tamasin Demina: think its called moshishi
Amon26 Yellowjacket: impressiv!
Tamasin Demina: he does very well on royalties
Amon26 Yellowjacket: speaking of music, have you written anything new lately torley?
Tamasin Demina: weird hes pretty unkown here in scotland shame
Torley Linden: Amon26, no, but I'd like to record more solo piano. I currently don't have a full studio but I'm leaving that open to future possibility.
Torley Linden: Tamasin, wow, that's pretty cool!
Torley Linden: Royalties can be wonderful if you have a reliable source.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: ive had these blips of music floating around in limbo for a while and if you want, feel free to play around with them
Moard Ling: Or are just royality
Amon26 Yellowjacket: theyre just kind of like, beats and hooks looped together
Tamasin Demina: yup just write the next "Yesterday" and you're made for life, that'll keep you watermelons
Amon26 Yellowjacket: but would you like the hyperlink for my music myspace?
Torley Linden: Sure Amon26!
ROMSEY Homewood: you bully! hehe
Walden Mannonen: Torley, hehe... I see you still have the Watermelon Nation group you made in one of your videos, that's great :)
Torley Linden: I like when some famous anime songs kind of originate from abroad...
Torley Linden: if I'm not mistaken, the singer of Ghost in the Shell theme is Origa, and shes' Russian.
Torley Linden: Haha yes I do Walden! I know some folk in the group want a better insignia that's more watermeloney, tho.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: one of my favorite tunes from that series
Walden Mannonen: famous anime songs -- probably stuff like from the Kingdom Hearts series, also.
Torley Linden: YES, I like Kingdom Hearts music a lot.
Torley Linden: "Simple & Clean/Hikari" is one of my alltime faves.
Walden Mannonen: oh yes :)
Amon26 Yellowjacket: i was always a sucker for the jazzy music from cowboy beebop
Torley Linden: I like how in the music video, it's literally "simple & clean", shows Utada washing dishes.
Torley Linden: Hmm who composed Cowboy Bebop? I think that's Yoko Kanno?
Walden Mannonen: awesome, will need to watch that
Amon26 Yellowjacket: yep, yoko kanno
Walden Mannonen: Utada is so pretty, I think
Amon26 Yellowjacket: infact, the writer of cowboy beebop was inspired by kanno's natural personality to create edward in her image
Walden Mannonen: as well as being a very talented singer
Amon26 Yellowjacket: so, edward is in parts, yoko kanno
Tamasin Demina: brb
Walden Mannonen: and writer too, I think
Amon26 Yellowjacket: wait, did something happen? i think i messed up the chairs
AC: it's soo quiet today :)
Torley Linden: I didn't know that, intriguing.
Torley Linden: The chairs go round 'n' round!
Amon26 Yellowjacket: heh, im a well of useless information :-D
Torley Linden shouts: Hi Jei! I see you! =)
Moard Ling: what texture do you suggets for my tiny chair ?
Walden Mannonen: yep, one more than is required is maintained to save on prims :)
Randal Kline: the table is still invisible?
Jei Desoto: Hello <: D
Amon26 Yellowjacket: phantomtable, so it seems!
Torley Linden: The table goes invisible at certain angles... layered transparencies are a problem!
JetZep Zabelin: a texture that looks like sticks and leaves
Tamasin Demina: back
Torley Linden: Wow Moard, that is pretty neat.
Amon26 Yellowjacket: a problem... or an un-documented feature? weeheheee
Torley Linden: I like your little helmet.
Walden Mannonen: yep, always been a problem since I remember but it's okay :)
Torley Linden: Classic graphics rendering problem, from what I understand.
JetZep Zabelin: with pieces of drywall and studs
Torley Linden: Not specific to Second Life...
Moard Ling: lost of drainag eprobelsm in SL keeps me busy
JetZep Zabelin: lol
Walden Mannonen: right :)
AC: watermelon's floatting
Jei Desoto: Don't mind me... i'm running rather choppy...
Walden Mannonen: mmmm watermelon
Walden Mannonen: yum yum :)
Walden Mannonen: hehe
Amon26 Yellowjacket: well peepsz its time for me to go get all hot wet and naked... showertime!
Walden Mannonen: amon: wow
Walden Mannonen: hehe
Amon26 Yellowjacket: nice to see ya again torley
Tamasin Demina: the mono thing sounds fun
Amon26 Yellowjacket: baibai everyone! ^,^
Walden Mannonen: that's one way to put it.. one rather tantalizing way
Tamasin Demina: see ya amon
Walden Mannonen: hahaha
Walden Mannonen: see ya :)
Amon26 Yellowjacket: wahahaaa
Amon26 Yellowjacket: toodles
Tamasin Demina: here hoping we get sim crossings :D
Torley Linden: And you too Amon26! Take care!
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/18163
Torley Linden: Tamasin, you mean, smoother region crossings?
Torley Linden: Ones that don't hiccup so much?
Tamasin Demina: yes
JetZep Zabelin: i figured out a trick to make sim crossing smoother
Tamasin Demina: please :)
JetZep Zabelin: well a couple tricks
Walden Mannonen: fly over very slowly :)
Torley Linden: Ah yes, in the future, I'd hope they are un-noticeable...
Tamasin Demina: go real slow
JetZep Zabelin: sit on a box, move the box is one
Moard Ling: Does "no trans" really mean "no trans" ?
Torley Linden: How do you mean, Moard?
Moard Ling: well when i die
Tamasin Demina: i just moved to mainland and have some nice road to explore
Moard Ling: hwo does my inv get split
Ryder Dryke: warm greetingz ! :)
JetZep Zabelin: The other is move your cam so it doesnt follow your av as it flies off into space
AC: Torley, there is'nt a new windlight viewer today ?
Walden Mannonen: yeah sometimes I notice, regions I cross into don't handle the changeover very well and I'm walking/flying forever, and I have to relog :/
Moard Ling: Is an av a taxable assest on your estate ?
Walden Mannonen: /
Randal Kline: Moard: depends on your will and country of origin maybe
Torley Linden: AC, not that I know of... last I checked with the Team, we were thinking of getting another update out soon, but it may depend on the release of 1.19.
Walden Mannonen: um... hmm... I actually .... haha I drank some coffee and now I have that classic eye twitch... classic.
Torley Linden: (Which should be coming soon too!)
Tamasin Demina: sooo at the riskj of hijacking for personal reasons, the jiras on ad farms do you have an opinion torley?
Torley Linden: Walden, yeah, I've had that problem a number of times.
Achtung Taurog: I for one have enjoyed the Windlight viewer.
Walden Mannonen: I actually need to go eat some breakfast really soon, but I will stay a bit longer
Achtung Taurog: In particular since the Logitech bug was fixed in the last release
Walden Mannonen: Torley, have you heard of the SmartHeap memory errors?
Torley Linden: Tamasin, I'm not a fan of in-your-face, obnoxious advertising. I don't think most people are. We already have some limited ability to hide stuff viewer-stuff, and certainly think a lot of people would like that if it were extended into more full-featured functionality.
Walden Mannonen: I think that may be down to running out of physical memory and the viewer not being able to handle virtual memory correctly
Torley Linden: Walden, yes, and I've had those problems too! :\ I saw them reported on the Issue Tracker and I believe Steve Linden is tracking them down.
Achtung Taurog: I also look forward to the next release, once the old login screen is put back in...to help the "Cannot connect to SL"
Torley Linden: Atchtung: Glad to hear that!
Tamasin Demina: i just thingt a reposession of 16m plots at market rate would be awesome
Damona Rau: i have no problems with the new login screen..
Torley Linden: Tamasin: Unfortunately there are legitimate uses for small parcels, as mired in controversy as they may be... unfortunately it's not so simple to do a "blanket repossession".
Damona Rau: i have it still with the windlight viewer
Moard Ling: SmartHeaps, SmartPointers, I liked it when sw was dull, pop, push a peek and poke.
Tamasin Demina: i've dropped say $300 in the last week ridding cortina of some of them
Damona Rau: and i don't know why, but the windlight viewer is much more stable (and faster) as the regular one...
JetZep Zabelin: its hard to control those ads without infringing on freedom of expression
Tamasin Demina: there is one thing, ones advertising adult services in PG areas can we report them
Walden Mannonen: yes, with the release candidate viewer at least, maybe release too, I find that the textures have a tendency to hitch up the viewer while drawing in
Walden Mannonen: doesn't happen on WindLight for some reason
Torley Linden: Damona, it's meant to be. :) There are performance optimizations.
Torley Linden: A lot of code cleanup went into WindLight.
Tamasin Demina: or indeed adult services not tagged adult but facing into our mature only parcels
Torley Linden: It isn't just about pretty skies. =)
Moard Ling: Isnt pop idol/american idol/x factor just one big advert
Tamasin Demina: sorry for the rant
Damona Rau: then put this part of the code into the regular viewer too Torley :)
JetZep Zabelin: Besides some bugs, windlight does seem to run smoother for me
Achtung Taurog: I agree...I get much better frame rates with Windlights on the whole
Torley Linden: Tamasin, if those ads show adult content like explicit sexuality in PG regions, yes, they can be reported.
Achtung Taurog: Windlight^
JetZep Zabelin: First light =)
Walden Mannonen: There's this actual 3-D cloud system by the makers of WindLight you're planning to put in... what is it called again?
Moard Ling: really gettign into sunrise now, used to be a full on midnight person
Walden Mannonen: Sunrise is pretty :)
Achtung Taurog: I do have a question pertaining to Windlight? Which Linden office hours should I try to make to discuss specific things I've encountered?
Torley Linden: Walden, oh, Nimbus!
Torley Linden: Yes, we hope to eventually get to that.
Walden Mannonen: Nimbus, that's right.
Ryder Dryke: torley, when WL goes release candidate ... what new technology will be firstview?
Torley Linden: Achtung: GREAT question, we do have WindLight office hours!
Torley Linden: Ryder: Probably Dazzle! User interface refresh. :)
Torley Linden: WL office hours are listed @ http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Windlight
Ryder Dryke: ah nice
Walden Mannonen: I wonder what that'll look like, Dazzle
Achtung Taurog: I don't want to burden you with mine now...
Achtung Taurog: Thank you
Walden Mannonen: I hope it's cool :)
Torley Linden: Dazzle info @ http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Dazzle but it's somewhat out of date, we've been heads-down on it internally.
Torley Linden: And it looks better than what you see there.
Moard Ling: Just go to any Linden In house eoffice an select Enviroment->Set Office Hours
Torley Linden: No worries Achtung. :)
Torley Linden: HAHA Moard.
Torley Linden: I wish there was a better inworld integration of office hours times.
Torley Linden: OH! I should let you each and all know I may be moving my office hours to Thursdays... I'll update my wiki page with specific times. I hope it doesn't inconvenience you too much. Reason is because a lot of my job is shifting around and I may be working longer hours on Mon-Thurs. but taking Fri. off. We'll see!
Becky Pippen: Yay Fridays off!
Moard Ling: Oh dear :(
Ryder Dryke: oh nooo :(
Damona Rau: Torley, i'm not sure if you know, but will havok4 increase the performance in SL? or is it a physical thing only
Moard Ling: you might sensible ppl on Thursday
Torley Linden: Moard, is that a hard time for you? :| Part of the prob for me right now is I start work early at 4 AM PST, because I need the quiet-ness to have focus and get things done. I get pinged a lot and it's been hard to schedule time for things like video tutorials.
Walden Mannonen: torley: when advanced WindLight settings become a part of estate/parcel settings, are you gonna make a Watermelapocalypse setting for the sky around here? That'd be cool. Green clouds, red sky or vice versa :)
Torley Linden: Damona, it increases server-side performance: physical objects don't have as "heavy" a cost as before and won't cause "server lag" so badly.
Ryder Dryke: and from my experiance the H4 sims are uncrashable
Moard Ling: i more worry about the other 57 avs i have yet to show off
Tamasin Demina: so that and mono should squeeze more out of our resources?
Torley Linden: Walden, I most likely will. Hahaha. But I don't want to freak out my neighbors.
Torley Linden: Tamasin, yes, that's right. Both are aimed at greatly ameliorating longtime performance problems.
Damona Rau: mh... that means, without phsyical objects there isn'a a advancement?
Torley Linden: In some case it isn't so much "squeeze more out" as altogether better code.
Torley Linden: Damona: Well, avatars are physical, and vehicles are... there are a *lot* of things that are physical. =)
Jei Desoto: Not to intrude on conversation, but i believe Havok is just a real time physics engine... i blieve Gamecube, Playstation2, and Playstation portible use Havok... i could be wrong however...
Tamasin Demina: 10 points for ameliorating
Torley Linden: So it'll also have an impact on, say, if 40 avatars are in a dance club and walking/jumping/flying/colliding around.
Damona Rau: we haven't vehicles at our place *g*
Moard Ling: did anyone read the MS article about how to increase the speed of Vista ?
Torley Linden: Jei: Hi Jei!
Jei Desoto: Hello hahahah>xD
Damona Rau: ok, a dance club we have :-)
Achtung Taurog: No Moard, but I'm listening...
Ryder Dryke: btw .. are there plans to update the linden plantes sometimes?
Torley Linden: Damona: It'll likely affect you if vehicles fly by. =) There are just a lot of areas where physics come into play.
Moard Ling: *thinks about 40 avs poledancing*
Torley Linden: Ryder, yes, hopefully the "SpeedTree" project eventually.
Damona Rau: Moard: sure... reinstall XP
Torley Linden: But we don't have a timeline on that until we get WindLight into the main viewer.
Torley Linden: After that's done, then we can start to schedule future improvements.
Ryder Dryke: some trees look really odd since all is cool and shiny now
Tamasin Demina: you need to wait til i can afford a real computer :D
Damona Rau: i'm happy with the RC WL
Torley Linden: Yes, the old trees look craptastic at times!
Torley Linden: The new light shows their flaws. Alas.
JetZep Zabelin: heheeh
Walden Mannonen: I'm gonna have to get ready for school now... you guys all have a great day and Torley, keep up the wonderful work! :)
Ryder Dryke: bye walden
Tamasin Demina: see ya walden!
Damona Rau: have a nice day walden :-)
Moard Ling: http://www.regdeveloper.co.uk/2008/01/30/speed_up_vista_tips/
Damona Rau: here in germany it's already afternoon :-)
Achtung Taurog: Danke
Walden Mannonen smiles at the many good wishes he receives... Yayzerama :)
Walden Mannonen: see you all! :)
JetZep Zabelin: I'm looking forward to Mono because places full of avatars are lagging bad
Becky Pippen: Mono rocks! I've been playing on the beta grid a lot lately
Torley Linden: Take care Walden, thanks for coming!
Damona Rau: Mono?
JetZep Zabelin: I should try it out now
Torley Linden: And thank you graciously for watching!
Torley Linden: =D
Tamasin Demina: is mono not a thing to be more easily integrated as its tried and trusted
Torley Linden: Mono should make a big difference for scripted stuff... and there's a lot of that in Second Life... I haven't had much hands-on experience with it, but I'm glad it's out in public now.
Torley Linden: We've been working on that for a long time...
Torley Linden: http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/01/29/mono-beta-launch/
Damona Rau: thanks torley
Tamasin Demina: all very exciting for 2008
Torley Linden: You're welcome.
Moard Ling: Longer than Perl 5 ?
Torley Linden: Yes, recently we've had the advent of several projects which've been hoped for, for a long time.
Ryder Dryke: mono is quite cool since it extends the script space
JetZep Zabelin: 2007 must have been the year of growing pains for SL
Torley Linden: Haha Moard how long did Perl 5 take?
Moard Ling: or dukem nukem forever
Torley Linden: Oh, Duke Nukem Forever, that damn thing.
Torley Linden: :)
Torley Linden: I'm not much into that, but I want Deus Ex 3!
Torley Linden: And it better not suck or I'll be soooo sad.
JetZep Zabelin: is that a new game coming out?
Achtung Taurog: Thanks for the info Moard! Cheers to everyone! Keep up the good work at LL Torley!
Damona Rau: mh... sounds great with mono
Moard Ling: I am goign to laugh so hard at MinWin
Damona Rau: less lag with scripts will bring the best advancement....
Damona Rau: then you can raise the max ppl :-))
JetZep Zabelin: o.O
JetZep Zabelin: lol
Tamasin Demina: i wonder how those temp rezzers will work
Ryder Dryke: i think the bigger scripts will help much too because you need to split them if they grow too bug
Ryder Dryke: big*
Damona Rau: thats often a problem...
Torley Linden: Thanks Achtung!
Damona Rau: but i'm happy, i'm not a scripter...
Ryder Dryke: hehe
Ryder Dryke: scripting is fun
Tamasin Demina: i did my first realscript the other day :D
Torley Linden: Ryder, yeah, I know some veteran scripters are really excited about not having those limitations.
Moard Ling: must say lsledit is great
JetZep Zabelin: I've been learning scripting, its not really that difficult
Torley Linden: Oh yeah Tamasin? What did you make?
Tamasin Demina: and it went to #8 on the slx sales ranking
Damona Rau: Ryder, i know the basics from perl and php... thats all...
Damona Rau: and i mean really "basics"
Tamasin Demina: the stream auto updat titler i sent you
Ryder Dryke: then you know much to start with LSL
Becky Pippen: problem is that Mono scripts will get only a *little* more memory to use. Not a whole big bunch more.
Tamasin Demina: i'll stuck mine on and show you
Moard Ling: from perl's hash arrays to lsl list's :)
Ryder Dryke: hehe yeah lists kinda suck in LSL
Damona Rau: maybe, but there is no time to learn, because leading two clubs needs too much time... and i have a reallife also :)
Moard Ling: *suck* you so kind do you work in PR ?
Tamasin Demina: see above my head
Tamasin Demina: oh and the hud button
Song Anouncer shouts: Heaven 17 - Temptation
Tamasin Demina: then i skip song
Tamasin Demina: and
Tamasin Demina: auto update :D
Moard Ling: temp-ta-tation
Torley Linden: AHHH "Heaven 17", haven't heard that name in awhile.
Song Anouncer shouts: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Torley Linden: OMG!
Randal Kline: thats cool. prim saver
Torley Linden: THE RUSH!
ROMSEY Homewood: wow!
Torley Linden: FLYING TOASTERS!
Ryder Dryke: hehe
Torley Linden: ALL MY BERKELEY SYSTEMS MEMORIES ARE COMING BACK!
Ryder Dryke: sorry i'm bored
Ryder Dryke: i'm playing with the magic wand
Torley Linden: Ryder, you made that?
Ryder Dryke: yeah
Torley Linden: Ohh, nice!
Tamasin Demina: yup its cooler than the big board things :D
Torley Linden: Have any other After Dark stuff?
Damona Rau: flying toasters? i know them from the DOS version from Norton Commander
Ryder Dryke: you should check it out torley
Ryder Dryke: we try to make another superwand like starax
Torley Linden: Where can I find out more, Ryder?
Torley Linden: Haha Damona.
Ryder Dryke: i give you a LM
Torley Linden: Thanks!
Damona Rau: i'm old.... *g*
Damona Rau: i know and i've worked with DOS 1
Ryder Dryke: its 10k's magic wand
Ryder Dryke: i do prims ... he does scripts
Ryder Dryke: we have 160 spells now
Bau Ur: Success! I tried so many times to log in! Here at last!
Hellava Hullabaloo: hi
Ryder Dryke: hi :)
Moard Ling: Theres a rDos 1 *hah* that wasnt even on punch cards
Tamasin Demina: secret is don't log out ever :D
Nigel Dudek: hey up
ROMSEY Homewood: :O)
JetZep Zabelin: login to one of the ocean sims
Torley Linden: Hey Bau! Welcome in!
Torley Linden: :)
Torley Linden: Glad you could make it!
Bau Ur: Hmm I shouldn't wear this outfit here. 'll disappear into the scenery.
ROMSEY Homewood: who said that?
Damona Rau: lol Bau
ROMSEY Homewood: hehe!
JetZep Zabelin: Cape Haven was my fav but not anymore because now you're going to be loggin there too :) lol j/k
Tamasin Demina: haha The Housemartins are on TV Fatboy Slim on bass

Moard Ling: doesnt paul look young
Tamasin Demina: sure does
Damona Rau: i need a satalite dish... i want US TV....
Moard Ling: *coughs*
Moard Ling: *pardon*
Tamasin Demina: what a good place to be
Tamasin Demina: :D
Moard Ling: US TV !
Tamasin Demina: torlley should be your office hours theme song
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/18166
Damona Rau: Moard, german TV is crap...
Moard Ling: wow where 45 mins lasts 90mins
Moard Ling: You have RockPalast
Torley Linden: :D
Damona Rau: 10 years ago, yes
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Torley Linden: I remember first listening to Fatboy Slim...
Torley Linden: how much time has gone by since then!
Moard Ling: yarent you in Sky's footprint ?
Torley Linden: ?
ROMSEY Homewood: Time is the.....dah dah etc
ROMSEY Homewood: February already!
Moard Ling: Not seen an housemartins in the garden for some years
Tamasin Demina: thats only six months i've been in now :(
Bau Ur: May I ask a question?
ROMSEY Homewood: is that your question?
ROMSEY Homewood: lol
Bau Ur: :)
Damona Rau: that was the question :-)
Bau Ur: Is there anything on the horizon that would allow longer sound files to be played by objects?
Torley Linden: Bau, not that I know of.
Torley Linden: There've been ideas discussed to have inworld audio streams that are more portable, like voice chat is.
Tamasin Demina: you can sort it with clever scripting
Torley Linden: (And spatialized.)
Bau Ur: Ah. I had hoped that the greater efficiency of Mono might allow for it.
Torley Linden: I've tried the "split up 10-sec. clips" before and it is a workaround, but it's also stuttery.
Tamasin Demina: could just loop your line out to your line in?
Torley Linden: Bau: I think part of the problem is still a legal concern too, like, "Upload full songs into SL and watch as the RIAA comes after us!"
Tamasin Demina: and use voice*
Torley Linden: Tamasin, clever, yes, I think some folk have done that.
Damona Rau: RIAA is the modern part of the Mafia
Torley Linden: I've seen some cyber-buskers inworld. ;)
Tamasin Demina: i should start my record label in world
Tamasin Demina: anyone want free music business advice?
JetZep Zabelin: I'm a musician
Torley Linden: I enjoy music.
Damona Rau: depends on the music style :)
Moard Ling: Has anyone ever charged for an in world gig ?
Torley Linden: I mean, who doesn't like music... it's kind of like not liking ice cream...
Tamasin Demina: i studied music business
Torley Linden: Moard, I've seen some live musicians do it, or they get tips.
Tamasin Demina: my lecturers were the singer from the bluebels (remember young at heart?) and the guy from the associates who were a mega cool band
Ryder Dryke: ah it was great time with you ... i need to see my doctor for accupuncture now ... :)
JetZep Zabelin: copyright your music before ever sharing it. music advice
Ryder Dryke: warm greetings from germany and take care you all *hugs*
Tamasin Demina: and you ryder
Damona Rau: Viel Spass Ryder :-)
Ryder Dryke: danke :)
Moard Ling: happy viewing
ROMSEY Homewood: byeeee
Torley Linden: Have a good one Ryder!
Ryder Dryke waves
Torley Linden: Thanks for coming!
Tamasin Demina: tcheuse
Tamasin Demina: sp?
Ryder Dryke: thanks for beeing host, torley :)
Damona Rau: wir sollten später mal reden .-))
Ryder Dryke: klar
Ryder Dryke: bye
Damona Rau: sorry for german :)
Tegg Bode: Yes SpaceJunky are an RL band that performs inworld to their stream, as live music for the 3 members in 3 different continents is pretty much impossible http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mv8A1QjXmaI
ROMSEY Homewood: Q. is there a babbler that translater Japanese?
Moard Ling: anybody found the CSI villain in SL yest ?
Damona Rau: i know the CSI SIMs, thats all...
Torley Linden: I don't know how that ended up, Moard.
Torley Linden: Thanks for the heads-up, Tegg! Pretty cool to hear about collaborating across the globe like that.
Bau Ur: (laughing) Babbler is such a delightful concept, such a wonderful idea...but a good one for Japanese is a million years away I fear!!
Moard Ling: i thre a cage on a greeter and acused her
Damona Rau: and i saw the two CSI episodes with SL
Moard Ling: might have been wrong
Torley Linden: I remember Psykosonik in 1995 or so, using ISDN to send music tracks to each other, and back then that was "way out".
Damona Rau: a good friend passed them to me :))
Damona Rau: *harrumph*
Bau Ur: :) YAY, "Way out!"
Damona Rau: i believe, that wasn't legal :)
Torley Linden: It is very challenging to get specific cultural nuances of many languages.
Tegg Bode: Lol Way Out :)
Tamasin Demina: i just got this
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Tamasin Demina: [7:02] Geoffrey Steuart: Microsoft just offered $44,600,000,000 (44.6 billion) for Yahoo
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/18167
Tamasin Demina: eek
Moard Ling: exerunt
Bau Ur: It would be cool if SL had tonal markings. Would help with Chinese and Thai and Vietnamese etc.
Moard Ling: and klingon
Harleen Gretzky: Doesn't Babbler do Japenese already?
Damona Rau: klingon?
Randal Kline: think it does
ROMSEY Homewood: only 5 languages i think
ROMSEY Homewood: well im after a free one lol
Bau Ur: What would be WAY cool would be if avatar fingers were more mobile, and you could wear gloves in RL and sign, and your charactter in SL would sign. It would be so cool.
Torley Linden: Klingon? Hahah!
Harleen Gretzky: Mine does 8 and is free
Moard Ling: new trek soon
Anthony Reisman: Torley, did you get the HUD I sent that allows people easier access to the TotW? I just wanted to see if you had any questions.
Damona Rau: i have problems with german and english either...
Damona Rau: and now klingon? never...
Torley Linden: Bau, how do you mean, tonal markings? Different from actually using a Unicode font?
ROMSEY Homewood: Harleen ,does do japanese
Torley Linden: Anthony, I might've but what was it called? :)
Anthony Reisman: vHUD 3.1
ROMSEY Homewood: ty :O)))
JetZep Zabelin: ooh then we could start touching eachother =D hehee
Torley Linden: Sorry Anthony, I don't have that, can you please resend and tell me more about how it works? :D
Anthony Reisman: but you have to have the SilverStream server part rezzed for it to enable the region for using it.
Anthony Reisman: Yes
Anthony Reisman: I will.
UT v4: Tamasin Demina> I think Universal Translator translates to japanese
UT v4: Tamasin Demina: ???????????????????????
Damona Rau: i'm sorry i have to go...
Torley Linden: No worries Damona, thanks for coming!
ROMSEY Homewood: ciao Damona
Damona Rau: Torley i'm looking forward to your next tip of the week... i love them :-)
Moard Ling: favourite album of all time ?
Bau Ur: maybe it is already possible with the SL chat font in some way that I do not know...tonal markings are those slanty and beant lines over the tops of words, like accent marks only more varied, that tell whether the pitch of your voice rises or falls or wobbles during the syllable.
Babbler3.17: ROMSEY welcome to Babbler3. Have fun! For more information, visit http://www.maxcase.info/babbler3.
Babbler3.17: Babbler Ready.
Damona Rau: see ya all and have a nice day / night (depends on your time zone :-))
Babbler3: ROMSEY: ????????????
Bau Ur: :) Damnona.
Tegg Bode: Cool Babbler 3, have to upgrade :)
Drinking Halfpint: hi
ROMSEY Homewood: testin gone two three
Torley Linden: =D
Torley Linden: Thanks Anthony, got it!
Torley Linden: Bau... AH yes! Thai is very melodic that way (I'm part-Thai heritage).
Anthony Reisman: The Server enables regions to use the vHUD we developed. The vHUD has several tabs (SLCN, Second Pages, Flickr, RSS) and now we added TotW. We currently have about 600 regions enabled so far.
Bau Ur: hmm I don't have 3.17. May i have it too, please?
ROMSEY Homewood: try again! all thingers and fumbs
Torley Linden: Oh, pretty cool Anthony, I'll have to try that soon.
EmmaS Graves: titl
EmmaS Graves: title off
Torley Linden: We're not quite yet at a universal translator, but we're getting closer... =o)
Anthony Reisman: Ok. I hope its able to help people!
JetZep Zabelin: I use the pirate translation
Tamasin Demina: oh torley there are some evil products for sale that i think have been AR'd already, things like you click to see someones profile and it teleports you
ROMSEY Homewood: ooh argh me hearties
Ludo Merit: I also don't have newest babbler
Tamasin Demina: not nice
Tamasin Demina: http://slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=497350
Torley Linden: Tamasin, ugh, yeah James Linden has a fix for that.
Ludo Merit: Are there other Linden avs available besides yours, Torley?
Torley Linden: It'll be coming soon... was reported in the Issue Tracker.
Torley Linden: Ludo, how do you mean, "available"? Office hours?
Torley Linden: Tamasin, for now, I'd recommend turning off the automatically load web profiles option.
Ludo Merit: I mean the av, for a machinima I want to do.
Ludo Merit: With pseudo Lindens in the cast
Tamasin Demina: will do thanks
Babbler3: ROMSEY: ????????Web ??????????
JetZep Zabelin: Ludo: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Office_Hours
Tegg Bode: Hmm maybe the could do a big brother of Psuedo Lindens :)
Ludo Merit: There's a torley av in my freebies from away back
xROMSEY: ????/2 ???????????
xROMSEY: ROMSEY welcome to Babbler3. Have fun! For more information, visit http://www.maxcase.info/babbler3.
xROMSEY: Babbler Ready.
Babbler3: ROMSEY: ????????????
Torley Linden: AHHH Ludo, there are some Philip lookalikes...
Randal Kline: lol
Ludo Merit: Ah, need that one.
Moard Ling: yu have ruth the yltimate linden
Torley Linden: I know a lot of Lindens lately have gotten avatars from Grendel's Children...
Torley Linden: Randal here has a Philip lookalike. :)
Torley Linden: Hee hee.
Ludo Merit: I was thinking of using her as narrator
Tamasin Demina: then you can freely advertise "free lindens"
JetZep Zabelin: I got a Ruth Av
Torley Linden: Which Linden is a bamboo plant, he made it himself, ask him if you want it.
Torley Linden: Jeff made his too, wayyy back.
Ludo Merit: Randal, may I have it
Bau Ur: I like Ruth. Busy little gal, you see her everywhere. Bt always complaining about her appearance.
Torley Linden: LOL Tamasin!
Torley Linden: OMG RUTH, too funny.
Torley Linden: I'd like to thank each and all of you for coming to my office hour. I've got to go now, but I'll be back here at 2 PM PST today!
JetZep Zabelin: it was free =)
Moard Ling: i did machinima http://youtube.com/watch?v=5IR_yLahtHU
Ludo Merit: Ruth is the obvious choice for narrator
Tamasin Demina: see ya torley have a good one!
ROMSEY Homewood: ty! you Torley take car! see you again :O)
Moard Ling: ruth rocks
Becky Pippen: Thanks Torley, see ya
Tegg Bode: K, cya Torley
JetZep Zabelin: Bye Torley good luck with Everything
Bau Ur: Good bye, bood Torley! (sawat dee mak kha/krop) :)
Torley Linden: =^_^=
Bau Ur: good Torley I mean :)

2 PM

Torley Linden: HELLO!
Torley Linden: I've returned!
Walden Mannonen: Friendly greetings! :)
Torley Linden: Nice to see you here already...
Walden Mannonen: Yayzerama!
Torley Linden: Mmmm friendly greetings indeed! :D
fr43k Paine: Greetings :-)
Shockwave Plasma: Hi Torley
Walden Mannonen: And all that.
Harleen Gretzky: Hi Torley :)
Torley Linden: Harleen, how was Science Friday? Last one I attended was some weeks ago, I know Prospero Linden is a regular goer to those events.
Dozing Tachikawa: Hello Torley
Pansy Mumfuzz gave you pandana complete avatar 4.2 with optional eyes.
Torley Linden: Hiya Dozing!
Torley Linden: Hey fr43k, Shockwave. :)
Harleen Gretzky: For sure, he is a wealth of knowledge there. Best topic today was what would you like to see in the election as far as science goes
fr43k Paine: Hello Torley :-)
Torley Linden: Last day before the weekend...
Walden Mannonen: Torleeeey hehe
Torley Linden: oh, how was that discussed, Harleen?
Torley Linden: *intrigued*
Harleen Gretzky: Like stem cell research and all, they set up a blog and voting email for it
Walden Mannonen: Science Friday eh? Sounds cool.
Torley Linden: Ahhh.
Harleen Gretzky: The NPR show is broadcast from SL every Friday live on the Science Friday island at 11
Torley Linden: I don't think science gets emphasized enough in some areas of education.
Walden Mannonen: I have a feeling I wouldn't be able to attend, since I have college from 10:30 to around 1:15 on Fridays, with padding of maybe half hour for going and coming... all Central
Walden Mannonen: hehe
Walden Mannonen: yayzerama for MystiTool-style dynamic chairs :)
Torley Linden: Scheduling for me is sometimes like putting together a jigsaw puzzle!
Torley Linden: Walden: It's really interesting because I think Timeless Prototype's multi-chairs preceded Mystical Cookie's but I hear references to hers a lot more.
Torley Linden: In any case, I like having multi-tool-type things, it's like a Batman utility belt or somesuch gadget!
Walden Mannonen: ahhhh, okay
Walden Mannonen: hehe yes I agree with that Torley :)
Shockwave Plasma: I loved todays tip about the text shortcuts, I've been looking for a way to do it for ages
Torley Linden: Timeless and Mystical should collaborate on something if they'd be up for working together, that would prolly be "Teh Awesome".
Walden Mannonen: I like both equally. :)
Walden Mannonen: MystiTool AND Multi Gadget ftew :)
Walden Mannonen: "for the eternal win" :)
Torley Linden: Oh great I'm glad you found that handy, Shockwave. It's one of those questions that's come up to me a good number of times.
Torley Linden: Hahaha "FTEW!"
Torley Linden: I like "Full of win", that's such a funny saying.
Walden Mannonen: and speaking of which, your ambient piano tunes ftew, makes me wanna go to sleep ;)
Walden Mannonen: hehe
Walden Mannonen: hehe
Steel Halasy: Hey Torley speaking of music, did you write the "theme" for the SL Podcasts?
Torley Linden: Thanks Walden, I hope to record more in the future... I like that sort of introspective, atmospheric stuff.
Torley Linden: No Steel, good question tho.
Torley Linden: I asked Catherine WHO did it... I think it's an open Creative Commons work...
Torley Linden: but I didn't hear back on her on that.
Torley Linden: It has a catchy sort of New Order-ish bassline.
Torley Linden: Reminds me of Peter Hook.
Steel Halasy: ... it has a similar instrumentation of some of the work you have posted
Walden Mannonen: I like your little short opening/closing "ghost teleport" sound
Torley Linden: Whoa Harleen, the glowy eyes are a nice touch.
Walden Mannonen: from the Tips of the Week :)
Steel Halasy: Maybe Catherine ripped you off.... lol
Torley Linden: Steel, I was thinking that psychologically, that might have been why I like it... haha. :)
Harleen Gretzky: ty :)
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Torley Linden: I tend to like very melodic bass progressions.
Spencer Dharnen: good afternoon
Torley Linden: Hello Spencer!
Torley Linden: Welcome aboard!
Torley Linden: This weekend if I have time, I want to try to run OS X on my Wintel PC... I don't know if it'll succeed but it's worth a curious go.
Torley Linden: What are each of you going to do this weekend? =)
Walden Mannonen: yep, welcome to the Good Ship Torley :)
Spencer Dharnen: Torley, I dont know if you remember me, but we met at Jeska Linden's office hour a few weeks ago, and I gave you a notecard on the charity gaming venture I am trying to embark on
Squirrel Wood: Friendly Torleys!
Gumby Roffo: yeahhh I made it Hello all
Spencer Dharnen: does that ring a bell?
Squirrel Wood: Err... Greetings!
Sammy Thielt: hi everyone
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Squirrel Wood: /ao off
Torley Linden: Spencer, yes it does. :)
Slevin Despres: hello everyone
Torley Linden: Friendly greetings!
Walden Mannonen: I'm probably gonna... heck I don't know :)
Torley Linden: Hahaha!
Torley Linden: Hey Squirrel, Gumby, Sammy, Slevin!
Spencer Dharnen: ok :-)
Torley Linden: Ohh a lot of S-names.
Walden Mannonen: oh hello familiar robot :) Slevin, looks nice
Eshi Otawara: hi there
Gumby Roffo: Sorry its been a few weeks
Gumby Roffo: been building weird stuff
Squirrel Wood can make mono scripts run extremely slow :p
Shockwave Plasma: Torley, signpostmarv said to say hello, he's stuck with SLeek at the moment
Dozing Tachikawa: Probably either try improving what I know about sculpties or study something or the other
Eshi Otawara turns of sky, water, clouds, groud, grass....to quit lagging
Steel Halasy: Do you have an OSX Mac Torley?
Torley Linden: Ahh please say hi back to Marv for me. :o)
Slevin Despres: thanks walden ^^
Walden Mannonen: the lines and curvesness sort of reminds me of the Portal designs
Torley Linden: Steel, I do, yes. My MacBook Pro.
Torley Linden: Portal has very fascinating aesthetics.
Torley Linden: The game seems so well-balanced.
Slevin Despres: ^^ hehe
Torley Linden: I haven't actually played it, but THE CAKE IS A LIE. ;)
Walden Mannonen: in fact your head looks a lot like the seeking rocket launcher from near the end :)
Walden Mannonen: hehe yeah it is, at least in the main game :)
Slevin Despres: wait ^^
Slevin Despres: rez rez rez
Walden Mannonen: but, in other maps you get the cake ;)
Walden Mannonen: great! hehehe... I love sculpties :)
Torley Linden: I think it's pretty funny how the companion cube became a popular plush toy.
Torley Linden: NOW THAT'S GOOD MERCHANDISING! =)
Walden Mannonen: did you make all that Slevin?
Walden Mannonen: it's wonderful :)
Steel Halasy: RE: OSX on your wintel; maybe just connect the two PCs together via a crossover cable and say some magic words....
Slevin Despres: i maked myself, the cube is by a friend
Squirrel Wood: I just want to see more portal. soon.
Torley Linden: Awesome.
Torley Linden: Steel: How do you mean? =)
Slevin Despres: you can look up www.yoursl.de for the real robot ^^
Torley Linden: *looks*
Steel Halasy: Just joking... maybe a magic OS-transferrence procedure....
Slevin Despres: its the agency i work for
Walden Mannonen: are you selling that robot, Slevin? :)
Slevin Despres: nope ^^ its not for sale sorry ^^
Walden Mannonen: awww
Walden Mannonen: well I guess that's how unique avatars are... unique :)
Slevin Despres: you wouldnt belive how many people asked this question yet ^^
Steel Halasy: I bet you can't copy or mod it Slevin... lol
Walden Mannonen: I think it's really cool to see unique avatars
Maringo Serrati: hello all :)
Walden Mannonen: even if it makes me sad that I can't have 'em :)
Torley Linden: I really appreciate how many awesome avatars come to my office hours.
Torley Linden: Hello Maringo!
Torley Linden: How's it going? :D
fr43k Paine: Hi Maringo
Slevin Despres: i can do everything i want with it steel ^^
Maringo Serrati: yea good :)
Maringo Serrati: and you?
Torley Linden: Good too thanks!
Slevin Despres: i have a version of the robot i made before sculpties come into sl
Eshi Otawara: that's because you are awesome
Torley Linden: =)
Walden Mannonen: ok that website is super cool slevin :)
Gumby Roffo: I dont think there is enough room around the table for me to go into the robot inventory
Eshi Otawara: i come here and generally nave NO IDEA what people are talking about...but i pick up on good chi
Slevin Despres: thats the nin sculptie version
Torley Linden: Hahaha Eshi, that's just the way I like it sometimes, incidentally.
Slevin Despres: non
Steel Halasy: Slevin: that was a joke based on your group tag. I know my humor is failing when I need to explain it. lol
Torley Linden: I like waking up in intriguing situations and then having to grab on for the adventure!
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Walden Mannonen: the sculptie version looks much better ;)
Slevin Despres: oh ok steel ^^
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Here's some wisdom for you:
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: To cross the river of boredom, one must first, hop onto the stone of imagination -- Rensouken
Torley Linden: Oh gosh, I want a David Lynch avatar with a waving right hand!
Walden Mannonen: but both look AWESOME
Eshi Otawara: i just wish my frame rate was sometimes higher then 3
Torley Linden: Aw Eshi, which viewer are you on?
Slevin Despres: the sculptie version is about 170 prims or something ^^
Torley Linden: On WindLight with avatar impostors enabled, performance can go up substantially.
Walden Mannonen: and the non? (over 500 I bet ;) )
Torley Linden: Sculpties help save prims.
Dozing Tachikawa: know you feeling Eshi, in the classic client, its freezing constantly on me
Ghost Menjou: Hello
Slevin Despres: a bit more ^^ 250 i gues
Slevin Despres: s
Eshi Otawara: regular viewer, crappy computer....saddest thing of all, till last week i was not even aware that SL can be better then 6 fps
Torley Linden: *nods* Aw Eshi, that's harsh.
Eshi Otawara: well
Eshi Otawara: i have no point of refernce
Torley Linden: Someday I hope SL runs a silky smooth 30 FPS pretty constantly on mid-range computers.
Eshi Otawara: so it is ok
Walden Mannonen: I like your music on your site Slevin
Slevin Despres: i hope too ^^
Torley Linden: I remember when I didn't have shiny on for the longest time...
Maringo Serrati: I hope with youfor that Torley :)
Torley Linden: and then people kept pointing out to me, "Don't you see, the robot's shiny!"
Torley Linden: And I was like, "Hmmm..." and tried to pretend along.
Torley Linden: Eventually I found out about the Preferences option.
Eshi Otawara: haha
Torley Linden: @_@
Slevin Despres: i hope much bugs disappear in the next time ^^
Eshi Otawara: HAHAHH
Torley Linden: Aye, the ongoing battle against bugs.
Spencer Dharnen: why do i suddenly have a taste for watermelon?
Slevin Despres: i got a new ati... got graphic bugs i can tell you ^^
Maringo Serrati: sculpties are a mess at my own computer...they stay unrezzed for 10 minutes or so...
Dozing Tachikawa: I would like to see an end to Z-fighting transparent textures heh
Ghost Menjou: Bugs will always be there
Torley Linden: Slevin, which driver version are you on? We're working with ATI to resolve things by... 8.12 (I think, don't hold me to that) but for now, it generally seems like 7.10 is most stable.
Ghost Menjou: Tis normal in programming
Squirrel Wood: bugs are being banged on every day to squish 'em :)
Torley Linden: Dozing, yeah, funny you mention that, because it was brought up at my earlier office hour today.
Slevin Despres: atm i am back to 7.11
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/18180
Torley Linden: Classical graphics rendering problems...
Gumby Roffo: ahh is that whats thats called Z-fighting, I cant build in windlight because of that
Slevin Despres: the 8. driver causes crashes with some games
Torley Linden: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z-fighting
Gumby Roffo: cheers
Torley Linden: It's not specific to SL, but a lot of people see it in SL because we allow for freedom of user-created content.
Dozing Tachikawa: yeah torlet, somehow that centerpiece here sticks it in my mind :)
Torley Linden: In most games/online environments, stuff is premade and optimized so it's not as obvious.
Gangstar Ao: Couldn't find animation ninjya-Hovering
Torley Linden: Haha "torlet", that's kinda close to "toilet"! J/K.
Gangstar Ao: Couldn't find animation ninjya-Hovering
Gumby Roffo: it make life a bugger trying to align prims up
Torley Linden: :D
Squirrel Wood: ahhhh! borken ao script :(
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Here's some wisdom for you:
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: "Shut up, forks!" -- Jennie "Olga"
Dozing Tachikawa: haha, typo, come from keyboard in lap syndrome :)
Torley Linden: Gumby, yeah... there are some workarounds and tricks I think... I was shown a pretty neat one a long time ago and wish I could remember what it was.
Gangstar Ao: Couldn't find animation ninjya-run
Gangstar Ao: Couldn't find animation ninjya-run
Torley Linden: No worries Dozing, haha... you on a laptop or just happen to have keyboard on lap?
Torley Linden: I've never heard that quote before, Squirrel!
Gumby Roffo: I use windlight just to add the little glow parts
Squirrel Wood: Gangstar Ao: Couldn't find animation ninjya-run <= please either fix your ao or take it off. thanks :)
Mamoru Junkers shouts: i speak typoneeese fluently so if anyone needsa translaotor i'm your man
Dozing Tachikawa: cramped room, so sitting sideways at deak lol
Torley Linden: Ahhh.
Ghost Menjou: Im in ur melon doing...I dunno
Squirrel Wood: heh
Slevin Despres: torley will there be ever shiny for transparent textures?
Torley Linden: I googled for that "Shut up, forks!" quote and another quote on one of the search result pages: "Some people move in lesbian circles. I move in bisexual dodecahedrons." -- R.K
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Here's some wisdom for you:
Squirrel's Fortune Cookie: Never regard study as a duty, but as the enviable opportunity to learn to know the liberating influence of beauty in the realm of the spirit for your own personal joy and to the profit of the community to which your later work belongs. -- Albert Einstein
Torley Linden: Slevin, eventually we hope to get to that as part of a more expansive materials system, yes.
Torley Linden: It won't happen in the next few weeks though, and will likely take some months.
Slevin Despres: ah cool
Torley Linden: We'll have a better idea after WindLight is in the main viewer...
Torley Linden: but the materials system would allow for a much richer array of how object surfaces appear.
Mamoru Junkers: THE CAKE IS REAL BELIEVE !
Torley Linden: E.g., shiny itself would be much more customizable.
Shockwave Plasma: Torley, did you see the show on the BBC about SL , and the relatoinships /started/broken because of it?
Ghost Menjou: The cake is a lie , now get over it
Sammy Thielt: customizable in a way in which everyone can share one experience ?
Ghost Menjou: Or Chell will Portal gun you out of there
Slevin Despres: and another question why isnt shiny in % instead of low middle and high... in windlight shiny is on low still to heavy
Torley Linden: Shockwave, what was it called? I've seen some shows like that before... but not sure offhand.
Torley Linden: Sammy: If they have supported graphics hardware, yes.
Shockwave Plasma: it was a BBC Wonderland speacial I can't remember the exact name, i think someone has posted it to you tube
Torley Linden: Within reason, we like people to have the same/similar experience; of course that's a big part of the wonder of SL, sharing stuff together.
Torley Linden: *googles for it*
Torley Linden: http://youtube.com/watch?v=PniWHuv9Xko
Sammy Thielt agrees
Torley Linden: Wow, that was uploaded yesterday.
Mamoru Junkers: try googleing gooogle for it
Torley Linden: Sammy: What are some of your fave sorts of experiences shared inworld?
Torley Linden: I like watching sunsets. Or going in a vehicle together and falling off a cliff, then realizing we're still alive. Ha ha ha.
Slevin Despres: Lol
Mamoru Junkers: heh
Ghost Menjou: Smells like GLaDOS
Slevin Despres: hehe
Slevin Despres: still alive ^^
Torley Linden: HAHAH.
Torley Linden: "This was a triumph..."
Ghost Menjou: "Still alive"
Sammy Thielt: visual experiences? Well, any sim i work on :)
Ghost Menjou: :D
Torley Linden: I wonder if Jonathan Coulton's ever been in Second Life.
Ghost Menjou: Danke , Herr doktor
Torley Linden: Sammy: Ah! What've you been creating recently?
Mamoru Junkers: I like the interations within the sim your in with things that are made
Ghost Menjou: Can you feel ze schadefreude
Torley Linden: Whoa, the music on thise Wonderland documentary is pretty dramatic-sounding. :O
Shockwave Plasma: from BSG
Mamoru Junkers: OMG TF2
Shockwave Plasma: i thought it was a bit much
Torley Linden: Ugh lazy generations.
Torley Linden: Er, generalizations.
Gumby Roffo: lol
Mamoru Junkers: LOL portal
Sammy Thielt: biggest recent was a greek island sim, built on a sloping mountain,
Shockwave Plasma: It could have been a lot worse
Ghost Menjou: Torley , If you would explain the purpose of SL to someone what would you say?
Torley Linden: I hate when people try to sum up a bowl of fruit and call it a "banana". To use a figure of speech. :p
Sammy Thielt: mix of modern and ancient
Torley Linden: Sammy: What's it called? Have a landmark? :)
Mamoru Junkers: THE CAKE IS REAL !
Ghost Menjou: That's what you get for touching that
Sammy Thielt: Sapphos.... girls only :)
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/18181
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Mamoru Junkers: whos playing the portal wavs?
Torley Linden: Ghost: It depends who they are! People have different purposes, if I got to know someone, I surely could share what about Second Life would appeal to them, and what they could use it for.
Sammy Thielt: its based on photos of Hydra Island ... though scaling is not right :)
Eshi Otawara: i don't believe this sh*T- i turned rendering off to EVERYTHING- and i am still lagging
Mamoru Junkers: we called that last wav the add eye
Torley Linden: Ack Eshi. :\ You turned all that off in the Client menu?
Maringo Serrati: uhm I have a companion cube next to me, maybe someone is clicking on it?
Walden Mannonen: hehehe
Eshi Otawara: yes black screen Torley
Torley Linden: Eshi, when you open Fast Timers, what's taking the most time? (Longest color bar.)
Slevin Despres: i play the wavs ^^
Torley Linden: Sammy: Ahh cool. :)
Mamoru Junkers: slevin where you getthose?
Eshi Otawara: not sure Torley
Mamoru Junkers: what happens when you guzzle down prims
Mamoru Junkers: And lag out the whole sim
Slevin Despres: web ^^ soundboard
Torley Linden: Eshi: You can click the bars to freeze then, Client menu > Consoles > Fast Timers.
Ghost Menjou: Welly welly welly welly welly welly well......
Torley Linden: If you turned off all rendering and it still lags like heck, I wonder if it's a network or other problem.
Torley Linden: Does Help menu > Lag Meter say anything in particular?
Eshi Otawara: haha torley
Eshi Otawara: i wish i could read that
Ghost Menjou: Wave goodbye to your head w***
Torley Linden: Eshi: Oh, Fast Timers? The key thing is to freeze it, then look at the biggest, fattest color that corresponds with the color boxes on the left.
Mamoru Junkers: selvin you have the tf2 ones to?
Sammy Thielt: Torley > I also work on mainland regions... which relates to an email I sent you (and others) about a possible solution to ad farms.
Slevin Despres: nope
Mamoru Junkers: thank you so much for the portal ones
Torley Linden: Sammy: Ahh, yes, that continues to be a hot issue today.
Slevin Despres: lol ^^
Eshi Otawara: green
Sammy Thielt: its getting far worse than people think
Squirrel Wood: ad farms... add an option to not rez content of 16m² parcels :p
Squirrel Wood: render...
Ghost Menjou: I don't go to mainland much
Ghost Menjou: Our Lindens, who art in the Labs,
Ghost Menjou: Hallowed be thy prims.
Ghost Menjou: Thy Grid-dom come, thy will be done,
Torley Linden: I wonder whatever happened with Dale Glass' viewer-side mute.
Ghost Menjou: On sims, as it is in The Preview.
Ghost Menjou: Give us this day our daily crash,
Ghost Menjou: And forgive us our Spammery.
Ghost Menjou: As we forgive those, who greif against us
Shockwave Plasma: Ordinal Malaprop started a flickr group to put pics up of the add farms and the owners, and got a DCMA notice for her trouble
Ghost Menjou: And lead us not, into private parcels.
Torley Linden: Hahah Ghost, oh that cracks me up.
Ghost Menjou: Amen.
Kermits Delight whispers: It's not easy being green...
Torley Linden: Shockwave, I saw that! :|
Sammy Thielt: the problem is that, economically and socially, ad cutting/extortion works as a business. its very profitable
Sammy Thielt: and so, it will grow
Torley Linden: Greed and other vices cross over from people's first lives into SL.
Squirrel Wood: \o/
Squirrel Wood: \o/ .....
Shockwave Plasma: she counter claimed, and so far it readts
Shockwave Plasma: rests
Mamoru Junkers: ok who was playing the tf2 medic wavs?
Steel Halasy: Yes... unfortunately this is a virtual WORLD, and not a virtual utopia!
Eshi Otawara: ok, torley, now when i relized there's a lot of GREEN here what nowe
Ghost Menjou: There is no such thing as an virtual utopia
Walden Mannonen: Green and red, watermelons ;)
Sammy Thielt: is that resignation?
Torley Linden: Eshi: On Fast Timers? OK, green is Rendering... try clicking the green square on the left with "Rendering" next to it, and it'll split it into smaller units.
Torley Linden: Green and pink for me... but red and purple are close. =)
Steel Halasy: SL when the grid is offline -- no residents -- is the closest to a virtual utopia as we'll get... lol
Torley Linden: Er, "Render", not "Rendering".
Torley Linden: You may need to click the "Render" twice, Eshi.
Mamoru Junkers: what happens when you guzzle down prims
Mamoru Junkers: And lag out the whole sim
Torley Linden: And then it should expand and you should see all these other things under it.
Eshi Otawara: i have no idea what i am doing...lol
Eshi Otawara: but ok
Torley Linden: My gosh, this Wonderland documentary is depressing!
Steel Halasy: lol
Slevin Despres: torley... will there be a % instead of low middle and high for shiny things ?... in windlight shiny is on low still to heavy
Mamoru Junkers: how far is your rabbit hole ?
Torley Linden: Slevin, eventually, YES we hope to have that degree of granularity, at least.
Shockwave Plasma: by the end it sort of works out alreight
Slevin Despres: YEAH
Slevin Despres: you make my day
Torley Linden: You may recall in early WindLight, shiny was SHINIER than "high" but we had many complaints of broken/drastically changed content...
Gumby Roffo: parcel is full..... :-(
Torley Linden: but in the future, we want to have backward compatibility AND allow for new possibilities.
Steel Halasy: The worst part, Torley, is that I know resis that are in similar situations as the documentary....
Ghost Menjou: I've noticed the big changes in SL the last months
Ghost Menjou: Windlight , Havok4 , MONO
Slevin Despres: sculpties ^^
Steel Halasy: ... but then again, same as people I know who interact in RL
Ghost Menjou: Indeed
Sammy Thielt: its not about wanting utopia... but about not having someone intentionally ruin your experience for profit.
Torley Linden: Steel: *nod* I find that whether it's Second Life or IRC chat rooms, the technology may be an emotional facilitator, but it's really the humans who decide what to do with them. When humankind evolves to post-virtual worlds, I'm sure there'll be documentaries for those too.
Mamoru Junkers: sammy hard to do that ina simthat runs on real life currency
Sammy Thielt: billboards in RL are not there to extort a high price for the land they sit on.... here, thats what the real business is
Torley Linden: There's always sensationalism about every popular new tech.
Torley Linden: I wonder if anyone has open sourced a more extensible "Hide Selected"... I've wished for that for a long time now.
Torley Linden: E.g., right now you can select prims, and go to Client menu > Rendering > Hide Selected.
Torley Linden: And I sometimes use it to temporarily hide ugliness!
Sammy Thielt: that gets away from that "shared experience" we want
Steel Halasy: The problem is that SL is so visual, and also auditory -- but interacting with a computer gives people a sense of security -- and they feel that they can do things that they wouldn't in RL.
Ghost Menjou: I see another Linden sneaking into the convo
Torley Linden: Sammy, I've heard that too, but some will say: you can mute text chat right now.
Winnie Linden waves!
Torley Linden: Hey Winnie! Ooh... mammalian!
Torley Linden: Eee eeeee!
Slevin Despres: hi winnie
Dizzy Banjo: Hi Torley : quick Q re : video tutorials and audio recording techniques : how did you record your SL voice and SL sounds using Wegame.com ?
Winnie Linden just dropped in.
fr43k Paine: Hello Winnie :-)
Torley Linden: Welcome aboard Winnie!
Torley Linden: Dizzy: I haven't used WeGame.com to record video tutorials. But WeGame itself seems to record both my mic + SL sounds naturally.
Winnie Linden: Thanks.
Torley Linden: I didn't have to set anything special.
Sammy Thielt: nobody should want to mute their neighbors...text or visually.
Winnie Linden: Don't mind me, just observing. :)
Harleen Gretzky: Able Whitman's viewer has Mute Visibility
Shockwave Plasma: Torley I'm getting another twitter nudge about a photo opertunity with codebastard redgrave for MS Torley
Torley Linden: Harleen: Ahh. That for avatars or objects too?
Dizzy Banjo: hmm ok.. i think it may only work with the "what you hear" setting..
Harleen Gretzky: Just objects
Shockwave Plasma: Hello Winnie
Walden Mannonen: Hello Winnie :)
Torley Linden: Shockwave: Ooh! She's welcome to come here if she wants. ^_^
Steel Halasy: Woah... there are 4 parts to that Wonderland documentary??? lol
Ghost Menjou: Did I just hear HAL 9000?
Torley Linden: Dizzy: My sound card doesn't seem to have a working "what you hear"... it's just onboard motherboard sound.
Torley Linden: My cheapo Logitech mic is surprisingly clear!
Dizzy Banjo: what do you use for video tutorials ? fraps or camtasia ?
Mamoru Junkers: whats this wonderland doc sstell?
Torley Linden: Steel: Yeah, lots of Second Life coverage!
Mamoru Junkers: steel
Dizzy Banjo: cool
Torley Linden: Wonderland doc... http://youtube.com/watch?v=PniWHuv9Xko
Steel Halasy: Beep beep bop boop
Torley Linden: I do like the English accents.
Slevin Despres: ahhh my sound in sl is always screwed up
Torley Linden: Winnie, that'd be awesome if you could grab fruit and scamper up a tree.
Torley Linden: *used to watch monkeys and chimps in the wild in Thailand*
Shockwave Plasma: I'm not sure thats what codie has in mind
Winnie Linden: LOL
Torley Linden: Oh what did she want, Shockwave?
Slevin Despres: an now my soundcard (Creative Xfi Extreme music) is broken and must be repaired :(
Winnie Linden: I don't scamper very well yet.
Torley Linden: Slevin, aww.
Winnie Linden: I fall nicely though.
Torley Linden: GRACEFULNESS!
Steel Halasy: Mamoru: sorry, did I miss something you asked?
Mamoru Junkers: is thereanything good in this doc?
Mamoru Junkers: i asked about the doc
Mamoru Junkers: was wondering what it was
Torley Linden: Mamoru: I'm watching it as I chat with you here... it's got good editing.
Slevin Despres: i have a sound probe how sl normally sounds on an XFI sometimes
Torley Linden: No new info that's really making me go "OMG" tho.
Sammy Thielt: Torley... is there some key Linden that would be most appropriate to get with about ad farms? I don't mind visual muting, but it has sooo much baggage with it, as a solution. so much of a social side that really needs thinking about.
Steel Halasy: First time I've seen it -- it is "Wonderland: Virtual Adultery and Cyberspace Love"
Shockwave Plasma: Mamotu It was on the bbc a few nights a go
Ghost Menjou: Viddy well, viddy well...
Torley Linden: Sammy, I'd definitely suggest... Concierge/Land Guru Team and Governance — they have regular office hours!
Gumby Roffo: something for you to try later Toeley
Maringo Serrati: the wonderland, is that what was on BBC two days ago?
Walden Mannonen: yaaay for etherdragon ;)
Steel Halasy: Virtual Adultery: Definately NOT tip of the week material
Gumby Roffo: Tor*
Mamoru Junkers: well i know i'm in love . so i don't needa doc to tell me other wise
Steel Halasy: lol
Torley Linden: Their office hour times are... http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Office_Hours
Torley Linden: I fell in love in Second Life!
Gumby Roffo gave you TB 7.5 Boxed Yello Vic Uni.
Torley Linden: Thanks Gumby.
Dizzy Banjo: this docu is mindless.. its like "is Adultery Adultery .. er yes.. end of story" dragged out of 50 mins
Shockwave Plasma: It follows 3 couples and how SL ineracts with their RL realtionships
Walden Mannonen: I love Grendels stuff ;)
Torley Linden: Haha Dizzy, you sure summed that up.
Torley Linden: AHHH TERSITY.
Gumby Roffo: My first HUD driven thingy
Sammy Thielt: right now... mainland land business is crippled by the blight... its a game of avoiding ad farms... this causes prices to rise. If you look in land search, there are so few 512m parcels for new premium members .
Mamoru Junkers: torley you need to makea rebuttle video on this. show people theres plenty to do besides that in sl
Shockwave Plasma: SAmmy is right I've stopped looking for land after a few months of looking
Mamoru Junkers: nevermind
Dizzy Banjo: ha Winnie.. nice avi .. ive got one of those too :D
Torley Linden: Mamoru: I'm working closer with Marketing/PR this quarter, I have a good feeling they'll get me involved on related stuff.
Torley Linden: And I certainly agree there's so much in Second Life.
Sammy Thielt: i would love to sell 512m lots... problem is, if i try, some ad cutter will buy the one in the middle and ruin it.
Torley Linden: Saying Second Life is "one" or a "few things" does NOT do it justice, is not fair, and certainly isn't accurate. It's like saying "The rainbow is the color red!"
Torley Linden: I'm more of an AND person than an OR person. ;)
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Torley Linden: Wow, that was really cool just watching the sun go down... in Second Life.
Shockwave Plasma: it's like the WWW was in the early 90s
Steel Halasy: It bothers me when I hear media "blame" SL for the socially questionable activities that may exist in-world.
Mamoru Junkers: sorry for my little rant here but I'ma gamer . gammers were attacked by fox news with some rather slanderious lies about a game called mass effect :) so i see things like this and go wtf mate. wheres the positive stuff about sl
Torley Linden: Shockwave, aye, I remember the documentaries about cyber-stalkers and all manner of horrors.
Dizzy Banjo: lol monkey invasion !
Winnie Linden: oopsy
Ghost Menjou: Torley thats the first i did in SL
Dizzy Banjo: woot
Mamoru Junkers: /end >
Ghost Menjou: Sit down on a prim box
Torley Linden: Steel: More people need to be accountable for their own behavior. People need to distinguish the coffee from the filter, for lack of a better expression. ;)
Ghost Menjou: Waterhead
Dizzy Banjo: lol
Ghost Menjou: Whatching the sun go down in waterland*
Ghost Menjou: head*
Torley Linden: When great and lovely things happen in Second Life, SL may have been a beloved open utility in helping it come about. But... it takes real, live people to do them.
Mamoru Junkers: torley you mean you filter your coffee I eat it straight out of the bag
Steel Halasy: Agreed. The media either just don't get it, or is looking for a sensational story (or both) -- SL is socially neutral; it is the individual that brings social values and interactions into the SL equation
Torley Linden: HAHAHA Mamoru.
Shockwave Plasma: and this is what codebastard is up to http://www.codebastard.com/ your onthe list :-) well, Ms Torley is
Torley Linden: Steel: It's too easy to find sensationalism in Second Life because it's a focused microcosm of... people! It's like the old Greek dramas taken to an extreme exponential level!
Torley Linden: Oooh. Thanks Shockwave, I'll check that out.
Ghost Menjou: It's almost midnight
Torley Linden: I should suggest my wife be on that list, she's great. :)
Torley Linden: (Great taste in avatars too.)
Torley Linden: She recently customized her Totoro avatar to have a pink bow.
Torley Linden: It was so freakin' cute, but our Totoros haven't met inworld yet.
Shockwave Plasma: *coughs* I know
Torley Linden: They eventually will and then will make "SQUEE!! EEEEE! EEEEE!" sounds.
Torley Linden: Er, TMI.
Torley Linden: =)
Shockwave Plasma: lol
Ghost Menjou: Totoro?
Torley Linden: O yes that's right, Totoro!
Torley Linden: We're going shopping (in first life) when I'm done work.
Mamoru Junkers: sounds like the sound of flys hitting my windshield
Torley Linden: http://torley.com/your-neighbor-totorleyo-a-tribute-to-studio-ghibli
Torley Linden: Mamoru, that's gotta be a heck of a way to die! :|
Dizzy Banjo: haha that vid was cool :)
Ghost Menjou: Anyways I4m gonna call it a night
Mamoru Junkers: I guess
Shockwave Plasma: good night Ghost
Ghost Menjou: Lovely chat ,it was .Thanks guys.
Torley Linden: Haha thanks Dizzy, I watched the movie w/my wife and kept seeing the images in my head... I was like, "Hey, in Second Life, I can get a Totoro-esque avatar..."
Torley Linden: Thanks for coming over, Ghost!
Ghost Menjou: Your welcome
fr43k Paine: sleep well :-)
Torley Linden: I like a lot of 80s pop, I admire a lot of the production techniques from that era too.
Gumby Roffo: cheers Ghost
Torley Linden: Cheerio!
Rock Pond Pose ball: llStopAnimation: Script trying to stop animations but agent not found
Torley Linden: Hahaha Mamoru, that's a funny cow!?!?
Torley Linden: Been awhile since I saw that one.
Torley Linden: I've seen the one where you actually move and dance and...
Torley Linden: OMG Winnie you're coptering!
Steel Halasy: lol Winnie
Slevin Despres: ok guys ... i gotto go now :( but i think i'll visit this con next week again. torley was nice to meet you in person, or watermellon dragon :D @ all others was nice to meet you too
Harleen Gretzky: lol
fr43k Paine: ^^
Torley Linden: Great to have you over, Slevin! Take care!
Torley Linden: Mamoru, THAT'S IT!
Torley Linden: HAHAHAAHAHA.
Torley Linden: I used to do that all night, me and some chums... hang out at clubs and do those cow dances.
Maringo Serrati: ow vengaboys _O-
Mamoru Junkers: everyone its cow time
Eshi Otawara: thanks for having me- bye all
Torley Linden: WOW BIG AVATAR CHRISTREDAMUS.
Torley Linden: Take care Eshi, hope performance gets better!
Eshi Otawara: it won't
Eshi Otawara: my computer is crap
Torley Linden: Awe.
Christredamus Vendetta: thank grendels :P
Mamoru Junkers: its all about tweaking your computer to make it work
Dizzy Banjo: im gonna zoom too
Dizzy Banjo: nice to see you all as usual :)
Dizzy Banjo: cys:D
Torley Linden: Cya Dizzy!
Torley Linden: Something I haven't seen yet: people standing next to each other with a VERY long group title, each avatar with one part of that.
Torley Linden: *thinks of seeing crowds in stadiums hold up signs*
Maringo Serrati: lol Torley, that would be great :)
Torley Linden: Christredamus, you've brought the forest!
Christredamus Vendetta: yep
Mamoru Junkers: i'd love to seea Sl stadium full of people doing the wave
Maringo Serrati: ow someone has been to Grendel :)
Torley Linden: Oh oh oh! Has anyone else here seen the LiveScribe Pulse pen?
Torley Linden: Christredamus, that anim looked familiar. =)
Torley Linden: *grins*
Christredamus Vendetta: Now you know the secret...now you must die.
Angel Wings v0.4.8 whispers: Psykes FastFly Script v0.4.8 - use "wings off" and "wings on"
Christredamus Vendetta: lol
Angel Wings v0.4.8 whispers: Detached from avatar
Torley Linden: Where does that saying originate from? Sounds like a James Bond movie.
Torley Linden: Hehehe.
Shockwave Plasma: Probalby as old as Greek plays
Christredamus Vendetta: no it's from a sketch from some guy inpersonating arnold schwarzenegger
Christredamus Vendetta: You know what we should do?
Christredamus Vendetta: We should do a Seinfeld musical.
Christredamus Vendetta: I could be Jerry.
Christredamus Vendetta: WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH GRAPENUTS?
Maringo Serrati: this smartpen? http://gizmodo.com/349511/livescribe-pulse-smartpen-digitally-copies-notes-records-3d-audio
Torley Linden: When I think of Greeks and Romans, I think of Plato's allegory of the cave... "The original Matrix".
Torley Linden: HAHAHA Christredamus!
Torley Linden: Maringo: YES!
Torley Linden: OMG!
Steel Halasy: lol
Torley Linden: I am so excited about that smartpen... I lose ideas all the time and it's a pain to scan in paper.
Maringo Serrati: indeed :)
Torley Linden: Anyone have any cool gadgets they've really liked lately?
Torley Linden: Whether it's in SL or first life.
Torley Linden: =o)
Mamoru Junkers: You know what they say: "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder."
Torley Linden: Mamoru: "I drink, therefore... I DRUNK!"
Torley Linden: :D
Shockwave Plasma: Get your Beer goggles on baby..YEAH!
Steel Halasy: Too busy for cool gadgets, unfortunately... lol
Mamoru Junkers: Sitting at my computer today, I realized that only drug dealers and software developers call their clients "users."
Torley Linden: Hahah Mamoru, oh that's funny.
Steel Halasy: lol Mamoru
Torley Linden: "Get 'em hooked on TEH INTERNETS!"
Gumby Roffo: OK time to face the first life and get some chores done, have a good night all.
Torley Linden: "They'll never go offline again!"
Mamoru Junkers: the tubes
Torley Linden: Have a good one Gumby!
Torley Linden: Yes, since it's a series of tubes...
Torley Linden: that's very close to some drug paraphernalia.
Dozing Tachikawa: Interesting things I've seen of late is a OS that is being designed from ground up for blind persons, based on Linux of course... hehe
Steel Halasy: Mamoru: Also is shareware like a "free sample"? lol
Torley Linden: Dozing: Wow, more info to that?
Shockwave Plasma: yes , everyone knows that cisco routers have vacum tumes in them
Torley Linden: Steel: THE FIRST ONE'S FREE!
Steel Halasy: lol
Torley Linden: I remember seeing some exotic-looking synthesizers with vacuum tubes.
Steel Halasy: Same with SL Avatars!
Steel Halasy: lol
Mamoru Junkers: After all is said and done, usually more is said than done.
Torley Linden: HAHAHA Mamoru, OH THAT'S GOOD!
Torley Linden: I like that one a LOT.
Shockwave Plasma: ME TO
Shockwave Plasma: and it's so true
Torley Linden: Yes... wise words.
Torley Linden: Oh gosh, I gotta share that quote, I'll be sure to credit you.
Mamoru Junkers: On my first day of school my parents dropped me off at the wrong nursery. There I was... surrounded by trees and bushes.
Steel Halasy: I've heard the "said and done" quote before... Mamoru, do you know who originally said it?
Torley Linden: Mamoru, are you making these up yourself? They are great, sort of reminiscent of non sequiturs like Jack Handey.
Dozing Tachikawa: Dunno a whole lot about it yet, its not available, just know its from the creator of the KNOPPIX buld, which is Linux on CD-Rom... But he started the project because his wife is visually impaired
Mamoru Junkers: please don't torley I don't need linden labs mad at me ;)
Christredamus Vendetta: you got something against trees?
Torley Linden: Dozing: Ahhh. That's inspiring.
Mamoru Junkers: na I'm finding them.
Mamoru Junkers: googled funny thoughts
Mamoru Junkers: ;)
Christredamus Vendetta: lol
Steel Halasy: Don't make me dig up my canonical list of Steven Wright jokes....
Torley Linden: Steven Wright is good too.
Torley Linden: I like George Carlin.
Steel Halasy: ...from usenet, circa 1995
Torley Linden: Haha, this cracks me up, from Steven Wright:
Torley Linden: There are numerous lists of jokes attributed to Wright circulating on the Internet, sometimes of dubious origin. Wright has stated that "someone showed me a site, and half of it that said I wrote it, I didn't write. Recently, I saw one, and I didn't write any of it. What's disturbing is that with a few of these jokes, I wish I had thought of them. A giant amount of them, I'm embarrassed that people think I thought of them, because some are really bad."
