In the beginning of my Second Life, I was quite lost. It took me some days to make friends who helped me to find my way. But I got to add that the waiting and searching was worth it, 'cause I found some of the greatest and most polite people around.

== What can I do in SL? ==
As a Minesweeper addict, I'm ceaselessly trying to break CG Lindens highscore in front of his home in Linden Village. Moreover, I'm a fan of old fashioned board- and computergames adopted in SL like Chess or SLtris and such. Have a look at the [http://slurl.com/secondlife/Avatarum/128/128/0 Avatarum] and play a Mastermind competition with Gal, who owns the place and created the game!
Many new residents don't really know what to do in this metaverse. So here are some hints:

There’s the chance to hear lots of live music for example and chat with the artists between the songs. It’s not really compareable to a "real" concert experience for sure, but it’s a nice alternative. You’ll find lots of live music in SL by joining the “Live Music Enthusiasts” group. This way, you’ll get an IM when a new concert begins and where you’ll find it.
While I'm speaking of places: I ''L O V E'' all this sightseeing stuff in SL. Like the Rezzable Sims (''Greenies Home'', ''The Black Swan'' or the ''Collectors Gallery''), science related places (''The International Spaceflight Museum'' or ''The Splo'') and many more. Have a look at sightseeings subpage in my quicklinks for some hints. Additionally, there are great concerts going on. And everyone should watch a show of the ''virtual band'' called [http://www.u2insl.com/ U2 in SL] at least once!

I should mention as well that [http://www.myspace.com/reginaspektor Regina Spektor] promoted her album “Begin to Hope” by offering the opertunity to exclusively pre-listen the album in SL. There is a great ''virtual band'' called [http://www.u2insl.com/ U2 in SL] as well.
Since I got no real home in SL and am still sleeping under bridges, Jen was so generous to furnish a little place for me on her land where I stored some freebies. Have a look at [[http://slurl.com/secondlife/Stadtrand/82/24/22 Stadtrand]] and make sure to explore the area around!

Furthermore, there is the chance to see a lot of science related places like [http://slurl.com/secondlife/SploLand/181/73/25 The Splo] (a mathematics related museum), the {{SLurl/simple|Spaceport Alpha|53|80|24|International Spaceflight Museum}} or the {{SLurl/simple|Raksha|201|14|26|Istitute of Physics}} with talks and discussions.
Or you can have a look at some art at the {{SLurl/simple|Oyster|30|116|86|Oyster Bay}} and at {{SLurl/simple|Greenies Home Rezzable|152|72|51|Greenies Home}}.
If you're a linux geek or trying to become one, you may join the Linux User Group in SL. Meetings are every Thursday at 12:00 (SLT) in English and every Friday at 21:00 (MEZ) in German at {{SLurl/simple|Maryport|242|148|54|Maryport}}.

These are only a few possibilities and - like in RL - it's up to you what you do with the opportunities you got. You can use 'em or waste 'em.

To get an easy start in SL I can recommend some Freebies @ the {{SLurl/simple|Indigo|206|59|38|GNUbie Store}} and {{SLurl/simple|Gallii|125|52|33|The Free Dove}} (be sure to fetch your "free hair" vouchers for newbies at {{SLurl/simple|GuRLyWood|111|108|22|Gurl 6}} and Diversity Hair while you're younger then 30 days).

That's it for now. You read it all? Wowy...
