You appearently read [[Project:Languages]] on how to modify <nowiki>{{</nowiki>[[Template:Multi-lang|Multi-lang]]}}. What I forgot to add at that page is, that there are certain templates in the Wiki, which include the multi-lang template on their own and therefor don't need an additional call of it. <nowiki>{{</nowiki>[[Template:Help|help]]}} is one of these templates. When you add <nowiki>{{</nowiki>help/zh-Hant}} to a page, you can add a variable named <font color="black">parent</font>. There you can specify the page, which you would normally enter in the multi-lang template. For example, for the translation of the [[Help Portal]], this would be <nowiki>{{</nowiki>help/zh-Hant|Parent=Help Portal}}. This will automatically add the language bar with the right links =)
Another thing I'd like to ask for is, to please not create to many untranslated pages. I will try to explain the reason for that request:<br>When a reader who's fluent in traditional Chinese comes to an English page which is indicating that there would be a translation available, s/he's likely to click on that link in order to view the translated page. However, when that page is not translated, the reader might be dissatisfied/dissapointed by the result. In case it happens more often, the reader will have a learning effect, which is: "There is no need to click on the translated page link, since it's in English there anyway." Therefor, the ''translated page'' links loose their value. About the term "腳本" for "script"

Hi Wenli,

I really appreciate your help on SL wiki Traditional Chinese version. Because I'm not very familiar to wiki. But please don't use "腳本" for "script". "腳本" isn't the term we use in Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) software localization industry for "script". But in Simplified Chinese software localization industry, they indeed translate "script" into "腳本". In Taiwan we use "程式檔" or "程式碼" for "script". But in SL, it's better translated to "程式檔" if we are talking about the script file inside the prim. So please don't use the term "腳本" for "script", It's really really NOT Traditional Chinese. And sorry I have to undo your change.

Great thanks, Pandora Igaly 12:56, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi Wenli,

Ok, I got it. But that isn't the official SL UI for Traditional Chinese. As far as I know, LL hasn't approved it. Because in the Preferences --> General --> Languages dropdown list, we could only see Simplified Chinese option. And yes, "程式碼" is definitely better than "腳本", because it's Tranditional Chinese. So I'll change it. But as I said, I really appreciate and welcome your help on SL wiki Traditional Chinese version, I know not many people willing to spend time and energy on it. And I myself difinitely can't localize everything here. I'm an experienced software translator in Traditional Chinese, but I make mistake too. So please correct or point out my mistake to me if you see one. And if you have any question, please feel free to ask me. I'll do my best to answer you.

Thanks, Pandora Igaly 14:08, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi Pandora,

as you said, not many people willing to spend time and energy on it, because they have their group and their works. However, glad to see you and thank you for your help^_^--Wenli Woodget 14:39, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Multi-lang & Help template

Heyas Wenli! =)
I noticed your additions to the Wiki and wanted to say: THX for contributing!
You appearently read Project:Languages on how to modify {{Multi-lang}}. What I forgot to add at that page is, that there are certain templates in the Wiki, which include the multi-lang template on their own and therefor don't need an additional call of it. {{help}} is one of these templates. When you add {{help/zh-Hant}} to a page, you can add a variable named parent. There you can specify the page, which you would normally enter in the multi-lang template. For example, for the translation of the Help Portal, this would be {{help/zh-Hant|Parent=Help Portal}}. This will automatically add the language bar with the right links =)

Another thing I'd like to ask for is, to please not create to many untranslated pages. I will try to explain the reason for that request:
When a reader who's fluent in traditional Chinese comes to an English page which is indicating that there would be a translation available, s/he's likely to click on that link in order to view the translated page. However, when that page is not translated, the reader might be dissatisfied/dissapointed by the result. In case it happens more often, the reader will have a learning effect, which is: "There is no need to click on the translated page link, since it's in English there anyway." Therefor, the translated page links loose their value. Even when there is a translated page behind that link, the reader won't read it anymore since s/he stopped to click at these links out of bad experience.
This is just one reason for my request. Another is, that the created pages (although untranslated) dissapear from the Category:Needs Translation/zh-Hant, which lists all pages in need of a translation to traditional Chinese. The links also tend to clutter the language bar on top of the article in case there are to many of them, but this is just a minor style issue. The other two (and especially the first) got a higher priority.
Please don't feel demotivated by these statements. All additions to the wiki got a high value (and especially those in traditional Chinese, since they are very rare). So I hope I didn't hurt you with this comment. I just wanted to state my thoughts.

That beeing said, I wanted to add: Welcome to the Wiki! (^_^) Nice to have you here!
