Get your Magic Box and rez it inworld

  1. Obtain a Magic Box for free.
  2. Choose a location for your Magic Box inworld in Second Life.In order to sell items via the Xstreet Marketplace you must keep at least one Magic Box containing the items you want to sell rezzed inworld at all times, so the location you choose should be permanent or semi-permanent.
KBnote.png Note: If you do not have a place where you can reliably keep your Magic Box(es) we can provide space for you free up to 60 days. To request Magic Box hosting, please contact us at our Support page.

Load Merchandise into your Magic Box

  1. Right-click the Magic Box and click Edit. Click the More button and then click the Contents tab.
    • You'll see some scripts here, which must remain in the box for it to work properly.
  2. Drag the items from your inventory into the Magic Box's Contents folder. Make sure each item in your Magic Box has a unique name.
KBnote.png Note: This method of adding contents to an object is simply the safest way to load your Magic Box, but feel free to use other methods if you're adept at working with them.

List your items in the Xstreet Marketplace

  1. To add a new item, go to your My Marketplace Items page, which can be accessed by clicking the My Account link at the top of every Xstreet web page.
  2. Once there, click the Add New link.

The following fields make up the Add Item page:

  • Category: Select the most specific Category possible. Do not post items in the "Root" Categories such as Apparel, Home & Garden, etc. unless you cannot find an applicable Sub-Category that applies. Please refer to the Listing guidelines for further details and examples.
  • SL Object Name: Select the name of the object you are listing from the dropdown menu provided. If the object name is not there, your Magic Box may need to be reset, or you may not have permission to transfer the item.
KBnote.png Note: The "Other" Field is an advanced control that keeps track of your listing if your Magic Box goes off-line. This field should generally not be used.
  • Marketplace Item Name: Type the title you want to use for your listing.
  • Description: Write a description for your item.
  • Permissions: Select the permissions of your item from the dropdown or type them out in the field provided if they're complex (for example, there may be one set of permissionss for the object and another for a script inside of it).
KBcaution.png Important: Leaving the Permissions field blank will cause the Permissions to display to potential customers as "None". This can adversely affect sales.
  • Prims: Use this field to post the number of prims.
  • L$ Price: List the price for your item here. Leaving this field blank will list your item for L$0.
  • Payment Method: Choose how you want to receive the funds from your sales. This does not affect how people can pay for your items, only how we pay you once someone has purchased something.}}
  • Available Quantity: Note the number of items available for sale. If availability is unlimited, leave the default value (-1) in this field.
  • Adult Item: Check this box if the item you are listing is of an adult nature. Please read the Listing guidelines. If in doubt, mark the item Adult and contact us at our Support page for clarification.
  • Receive Sale Notifications: Uncheck this box if you don't want to receive email notification when this item is sold.
  • Receive Post Notifications: Uncheck this box if you don't want to receive email notification when a comment or a review is posted on this item.
