[2014/07/03 15:03] Whirly Fizzle: oops I was set to chat on channel -3. Hum......
[2014/07/03 15:03] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Hello, Maestro.
[2014/07/03 15:03] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Hi guys
[2014/07/03 15:03] Duckie Dickins: hate when that happens
[2014/07/03 15:05] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): ... Okay, let's get started
[2014/07/03 15:05] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Server_Beta_User_Group#Agenda
[2014/07/03 15:05] Jenna Felton: hi Maestro, Martin, Nal :)
[2014/07/03 15:05] Inara Breen: Hi, Maestro, Caleb
[2014/07/03 15:05] Nal (nalates.urriah): Hey Jenna, Yuzuru, everyone
[2014/07/03 15:05] Caleb Linden: hi there
[2014/07/03 15:05] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Hello, Nalates.
[2014/07/03 15:05] Inara Breen: Hi, Nal
[2014/07/03 15:05] Nal (nalates.urriah): :)
[2014/07/03 15:05] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): I don't have a whole lot in the way of topics
[2014/07/03 15:06] MartinRJ Fayray: hello all
[2014/07/03 15:06] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): I'll go over the list of updates for this past week, and talk about next week's server maintenance RC
[2014/07/03 15:07] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): So for this week.. there weren't any updates to the main channel
[2014/07/03 15:07] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): the BlueSteel and LeTigre RC didn't have any problems reported with them, so I they'll be promoted to the main channel next week
[2014/07/03 15:08] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): (those two are on the project that adds LSL support for materials)
[2014/07/03 15:08] Lucia Nightfire: will Magnum get that code too next week?
[2014/07/03 15:08] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): yes
[2014/07/03 15:08] Lucia Nightfire: great :)
[2014/07/03 15:08] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): barring last minute disaster
[2014/07/03 15:09] Margithe: is it throttled in any way?
[2014/07/03 15:09] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): we could've promoted that LSL materials project this week, but since there were LSL changes, we wanted to give people more time to report any problems
[2014/07/03 15:09] Margithe: i mean, the LSL for material changing
[2014/07/03 15:09] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): it's throttled via the normal script time throttles
[2014/07/03 15:10] Margithe: hmmm... :/
[2014/07/03 15:10] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): there's no special X/minute throttle
[2014/07/03 15:10] Jenna Felton: so it is delayed :)
[2014/07/03 15:10] Lucia Nightfire: its as throttled as the price of a full update, heh
[2014/07/03 15:10] Lucia Nightfire: meaning SOP
[2014/07/03 15:11] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Well, also there's a throttle for accessing the materials list by viewers
[2014/07/03 15:11] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): so even when your viewer knows that an object got material X via the update, it may have to access the RenderMaterials capability to look up the render parameters
[2014/07/03 15:12] Lucia Nightfire: that takes a few frames
[2014/07/03 15:12] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): and that capability access is throttled (the viewer knows to request at a rate below the throttle so that it doesnt' hit failures)
[2014/07/03 15:12] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): yes
[2014/07/03 15:12] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): you can see the delay if you login with 2 avatars, add a normal map to a prim, then have one avatar hold down the spinner to continuously rotate the normal map
[2014/07/03 15:12] Margithe: how does it work when advanced light is not on? Viewer just ignores the updates?
[2014/07/03 15:12] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): the other avatar will only see it update once a second or so
[2014/07/03 15:13] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): It works the same as setting it manually via the viewer
[2014/07/03 15:13] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): I believe a viewer with ALM disabled would still do the lookup to see if the non-ALM materials parameters have been updated
[2014/07/03 15:14] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): which would be things such as alpha mode
[2014/07/03 15:14] Whirly Fizzle: Offsets are worse, if you change those quickly with the spinner it keeps reverting to weird random values
[2014/07/03 15:14] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): (even with ALM disabled, you should still see alpha masking, 'no alpha', I believe)
[2014/07/03 15:15] Margithe: Seems wasteful, but ok. A question though- the draw distance for ALM and all the rest is the same, right? While ALM, especially without shadows, should really be interesting only at a smaller range.
[2014/07/03 15:15] Whirly Fizzle: Alpha masking works as long as basic shaders are enabled
[2014/07/03 15:15] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): because those alpha modes are actually simpler to render than the default alpha-blended style
[2014/07/03 15:15] Jenna Felton: another question, when a script changes materials permanently on a face on an object, and there is no other material changes on the sim, will this increase the materials table? i guess it should not because the old material is dereferenced and deleted from the table
[2014/07/03 15:16] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Hm, that's a rendering detail that I'm not sure about, Margithe
[2014/07/03 15:16] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): that's correct, Jenna
[2014/07/03 15:17] Jenna Felton: ok, thank you
[2014/07/03 15:17] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): well, unless the object used to share a material in common with another object, but the change created a 2nd, previously nonexistent, material
[2014/07/03 15:17] Whirly Fizzle: You mean you should only see ALM specific effects at a smaller range then your DD Magrithe?
[2014/07/03 15:18] Lucia Nightfire: materials handling falls into the same handling as textures by distance afaik
[2014/07/03 15:18] Margithe: yes, thats what i'm thinking, as an extended part of interest lists- because even if i render an avatar at a distance, doesn't mean i need to render the materials on their earrings, or if they have material changes cyckling, even more
[2014/07/03 15:19] Jenna Felton: as soon you see a face you should see materials on it, i think. The earrings will disappear on far distances
[2014/07/03 15:19] Jenna Felton: but updates may be skiped probably
[2014/07/03 15:20] Margithe: materials are of interest at a fairly short range, for the most part.
[2014/07/03 15:20] Jenna Felton: but at least one materials should be visible
[2014/07/03 15:20] Margithe: or at least, it would be good if their drawing distance could be limited, too.
[2014/07/03 15:20] Margithe: sort of interest/detail fade.
[2014/07/03 15:21] Lucia Nightfire: reminds me, is the texture memory bumped up on the latest releases?
[2014/07/03 15:21] Jenna Felton: perhaps it is not a bad idea to add a LOD setting to the materials that describe at what LOD level the material may be skipped
[2014/07/03 15:21] Whirly Fizzle: Not yet, thats all sitting in Tiger still as far as I know
[2014/07/03 15:22] Lucia Nightfire: thats gonna need to come to the forefront soon I think before materials use blows up, heh
[2014/07/03 15:22] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): I asked Marissa about that, Lucia. Apparently there was an issue with that change in the viewer-tiger branch
[2014/07/03 15:22] Whirly Fizzle: Texture thrashing is already a real PITA
[2014/07/03 15:22] Margithe: Thats a good idea jenna. At mid LOD, it still makes se3nse. At low and lowest... it's just a burden.
[2014/07/03 15:22] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): The plan is to put the change in some sort of project viewer
[2014/07/03 15:22] Nal (nalates.urriah): Yeah, what's up with that?
[2014/07/03 15:23] Theresa Tennyson: Whirly broke it.
[2014/07/03 15:23] Whirly Fizzle: Lies! >.<
[2014/07/03 15:23] Lucia Nightfire: thing about materials is most commonly high res textures are used because generally they look the best, heh
[2014/07/03 15:24] Lucia Nightfire: at least with normal maps
[2014/07/03 15:24] Margithe: Right. And that eats my memory up, and then i crash.
[2014/07/03 15:24] Whirly Fizzle: Yeah so now a single face can have 3 1024x1024 textures on it... .
[2014/07/03 15:24] Margithe: (but partially because i have a shit computer.... like half of Sl though!)
[2014/07/03 15:25] Theresa Tennyson: Also RenderVolumeLOD is a big memory eater.
[2014/07/03 15:25] Whirly Fizzle: Yeah
[2014/07/03 15:25] Latif Khalifa: you don'r run with ALM enabled on it then, do you?
[2014/07/03 15:25] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Like when you set it to a high number, Theresa?
[2014/07/03 15:25] Margithe: not in public, no. At home...
[2014/07/03 15:25] Theresa Tennyson: Yes...
[2014/07/03 15:26] Latif Khalifa: With ALM disabled, material textures won't matter much anyway
[2014/07/03 15:26] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Yeah, I would hope they wouldn't be loaded into GPU memory
[2014/07/03 15:26] Whirly Fizzle: Yeah, see people all the time with stupid LOD values set, like 10 or 20. Once they lower it to a sane value they stop crashing from out of mem all over the place
[2014/07/03 15:27] Margithe: Thing is, it would be nice to have a bit of choice there. I really don't need to see materials 200 meters away, but seeing the shape of things is nice. While around 30 meters or so, materials are relevant.
[2014/07/03 15:27] Lucia Nightfire: and you can thank some content creators recommending those settings in their notecards, heh
[2014/07/03 15:27] Whirly Fizzle: Ugh I know. Thats one of my pet peeves
[2014/07/03 15:27] Lucia Nightfire: probably the same ones that still use a resize script per prim
[2014/07/03 15:27] Theresa Tennyson: Materials are just textures and textures autoscale.
[2014/07/03 15:27] Nal (nalates.urriah): I still see those note cards gong around.
[2014/07/03 15:27] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): because they're made of tortured sculpts? :)
[2014/07/03 15:28] Whirly Fizzle: "Set your LOD to 20 and TextureLoadFullRes to TRUE to see my products correctly" *Cries*
[2014/07/03 15:28] Margithe: scaling !== disabling at specific distance
[2014/07/03 15:28] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): :-\
[2014/07/03 15:28] Theresa Tennyson: Don't forget MaxMeshConcurrentRequests to 100.
[2014/07/03 15:29] Whirly Fizzle: Oh yeah, thats another one. Doesnt work now though hahahaha, well, unless they switch off mesh2
[2014/07/03 15:29] Margithe: Well they are trying to meet peoples demand of both low LI and high detail. Thats what you get then.
[2014/07/03 15:29] tanyja: boooo ehheehheheeh
[2014/07/03 15:30] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Oh, before we get too derailed, Magnum also got an update
[2014/07/03 15:30] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): it's still on the experience tools project,
[2014/07/03 15:30] Whirly Fizzle: Its switched off though?
[2014/07/03 15:30] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): the one visible change this week should be a fix for BUG-6438 "Objects attached via llAttachToAvatarTemp to object owner detach when script is removed from prim inventory"
[2014/07/03 15:30] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): whcih was an odd one indeed
[2014/07/03 15:30] Lucia Nightfire: odd use case is odd
[2014/07/03 15:30] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): about experience tools - there is now some information available!
[2014/07/03 15:31] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Tools-and-Technology/Seeking-Creators-for-the-Experience-Keys-Beta/ba-p/2764864
[2014/07/03 15:31] Lucia Nightfire: BUG-6559
[2014/07/03 15:31] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Is it on Magnum? Can we use it?
[2014/07/03 15:31] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Oh boy
[2014/07/03 15:31] Margithe: There's a huge gap between worn mesh, and rezzed mesh, in terms of whats permittable. Like, worn mesh never accounts under anything, you can have shit lods all over, and bazillion textures and people will be like " Wow such QUALITY" and then they get some furniture for their house, and expect exactly the same, high detail denisty, at no cost. So mesh makers cram a shitload into the highest LOD, and then tell people to change their settings to insane.
[2014/07/03 15:31] Whirly Fizzle: You think they are looking for people to break it yet or just creators? :D
[2014/07/03 15:31] Duckie Dickins: I think you have to apply for it, no?
[2014/07/03 15:32] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Thanks Lucia, I'll let them know about that issue..
[2014/07/03 15:32] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): (if they aren't already)
[2014/07/03 15:32] Lucia Nightfire: I haven't heard anything yet
[2014/07/03 15:32] Lucia Nightfire: and I don't have a exp nor can assign yet
[2014/07/03 15:32] Lucia Nightfire: if thats even goign to be allowed yet
[2014/07/03 15:33] Nal (nalates.urriah): You send an email to get an invite. I haven't heard if you have to sign an NDA...
[2014/07/03 15:33] Whirly Fizzle: Yeah the emails are bouncing though
[2014/07/03 15:33] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Yuzuru, you need an 'experience key' to use it on Magnum
[2014/07/03 15:34] Whirly Fizzle: OOh so it is actually switched on on Magnum?
[2014/07/03 15:34] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Re: emails bouncing, Lucia's BUG-6559 covers that
[2014/07/03 15:34] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Thank you, Maestro. Good News.
[2014/07/03 15:34] Latif Khalifa: More importantly, who do we have to bribe to get an invite for SL TNG beta :P
[2014/07/03 15:35] Jenna Felton: thank you Maestro :)
[2014/07/03 15:35] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Whirly: I'm not sure if they're looking for people to break it yet, but that does seem like a good idea to me
[2014/07/03 15:36] Lucia Nightfire: Theres one big thing exp perms doesn't address which I have been hearing game operators complaining about for years.
[2014/07/03 15:36] Lucia Nightfire: But, idk if I can even discuss that here.
[2014/07/03 15:36] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Latif, I for one accept gifts! :-D
[2014/07/03 15:36] Latif Khalifa: cookies?
[2014/07/03 15:37] Latif Khalifa: ;)
[2014/07/03 15:37] Duckie Dickins: starbucks gift cards.
[2014/07/03 15:37] Duckie Dickins: devs turn caffeine into code
[2014/07/03 15:37] Whirly Fizzle: lol
[2014/07/03 15:37] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): yes and yes
[2014/07/03 15:37] Theresa Tennyson: THAT explains a lot.
[2014/07/03 15:37] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): beer is also welcome :)
[2014/07/03 15:37] Latif Khalifa: I have some nice "special" cookies ;)
[2014/07/03 15:37] Margithe: so whats that thing?
[2014/07/03 15:38] Duckie Dickins: it's all the same people in every UG.....might as well spill the beans.. :P
[2014/07/03 15:38] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Hm, I dont' have much information beyond what Ebbe said already
[2014/07/03 15:39] Duckie Dickins: re: Lucia's experience game maker complaint
[2014/07/03 15:39] Lucia Nightfire: Maestro do you know if theres goign to be a UG for EXP related stuff or a EXP jira code taht participants can file issues into?
[2014/07/03 15:39] Duckie Dickins: I would of thought that would of been Nyx's meetings.
[2014/07/03 15:39] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Lucia, we can talk about what sort of features you'd like to see from experience keys..
[2014/07/03 15:40] Lucia Nightfire: right now?
[2014/07/03 15:40] Whirly Fizzle: For after the exp tools discussion - Are you allowed to discuss the cause of BUG-6536 Maestro? Your usual detailed repro steps were notably absent :P
[2014/07/03 15:40] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): I think we could invite an experience keys dev to either this user group or the one that Simon runs
[2014/07/03 15:40] Margithe: if it's Adult, i think we are all adults here.
[2014/07/03 15:40] Lucia Nightfire: @ Maestro, that would be great
[2014/07/03 15:40] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Whirly: sure I'll discuss it.. when it's fixed :)
[2014/07/03 15:41] Lucia Nightfire: lol
[2014/07/03 15:41] Whirly Fizzle: haha okay
[2014/07/03 15:41] Whirly Fizzle: Knew that was coming
[2014/07/03 15:41] Duckie Dickins: I guess creating a "welcome to SL" experience that attaches 32 freenises to your avatar would be frowned upon.
[2014/07/03 15:41] Lucia Nightfire: it could get you in twouble with an AR, heh
[2014/07/03 15:42] Duckie Dickins: but experience is opt in...
[2014/07/03 15:42] Margithe: aww, but that would be such a true and genuine SL expirience...
[2014/07/03 15:42] Duckie Dickins: and if on an adult rated sim...
[2014/07/03 15:42] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): I'm sure it could be welcome, depending o the 'experience' at hand..
[2014/07/03 15:42] Lucia Nightfire: yes but exp's are AR'able offenses if malicious
[2014/07/03 15:42] Latif Khalifa: What about existing devices? Would one be able to add a script to make them part of an experience or does stuff need to be by one creator and designed from ground up to be used in that way?
[2014/07/03 15:42] Margithe: going to be hard to define malicious, when it's not outright griefing.
[2014/07/03 15:43] Lucia Nightfire: yeah idk how it will be moderated
[2014/07/03 15:43] Lucia Nightfire: idk what the breakign point would be other than mass AR's
[2014/07/03 15:43] Duckie Dickins: probably governance team.
[2014/07/03 15:44] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): I would expect that in the process of getting an experience key, there will be some sort of guidelines to agree to
[2014/07/03 15:44] Nal (nalates.urriah): from what I saw in the Torley video we get a glimpse of a script that has a one line function that sets the Exp-Key as it requests permissions. So, changing scripts should be easy.
[2014/07/03 15:44] Lucia Nightfire: afaik, you have to be an assigner to do that
[2014/07/03 15:44] Lucia Nightfire: you can't just assign any availabel exp to any script
[2014/07/03 15:45] Jenna Felton: can a script only request experience permission from experience that the script owner created?
[2014/07/03 15:45] Nal (nalates.urriah): Assigner?
[2014/07/03 15:45] Whirly Fizzle: I guess if you own an object not created by you and its mod, theres no reason you can't add a script to it and tell that script to use an experience
[2014/07/03 15:45] Latif Khalifa: Nal, but what if I have devices from several creators on my parcel taht I want to make a part of the experience?
[2014/07/03 15:45] Nal (nalates.urriah): idk
[2014/07/03 15:45] Latif Khalifa: Whirly, that's what I'm asking, does every script need to be "authorized"
[2014/07/03 15:45] Margithe: It will be particularity hard to define for adult experiences. Lots of people in SL are here specifically for the adult expiriences, but there's a differance between mild erotica and , lets say, a Vore carnival ride... Wonder if getting offended would be enough for an AR?
[2014/07/03 15:45] Lucia Nightfire: see this is why we need those exp devs here, just like we had them when pf was comign about, heh
[2014/07/03 15:46] Jenna Felton: I think only the creator of an experience can have objects that use this experience, no foreign objects may use it
[2014/07/03 15:46] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): That's a good question, Latif. I'd tell you the answer if I knew it
[2014/07/03 15:46] Inara Breen: There are two new Group roles for Experience Keys: Admin and Contributor
[2014/07/03 15:46] Inara Breen: “Admin” role which can be used to allow others to edit the experience profile
[2014/07/03 15:46] Lucia Nightfire: what Jenna said is how I think it works
[2014/07/03 15:46] Inara Breen: “Contributor” role, which allows people to contribute content to an experience.
[2014/07/03 15:47] Duckie Dickins: and where is the experience profile? estate tools?
[2014/07/03 15:47] Lucia Nightfire: not outside group based exp, which would then use assigners
[2014/07/03 15:47] Inara Breen: New foloater in the viewer
[2014/07/03 15:47] Jenna Felton: i see, than the contributors can have their own objects, so the experience keys are tied to a group at least
[2014/07/03 15:47] Inara Breen: floater*
[2014/07/03 15:48] Inara Breen: http://modemworld.wordpress.com/2014/06/22/sl-projects-update-252-experience-tools-overview-and-beta-information/
[2014/07/03 15:48] Duckie Dickins: hmm....I wonder how that works on rented land
[2014/07/03 15:48] Jenna Felton: thankies Inara :)
[2014/07/03 15:48] Inara Breen: (actually, that's pre-beta information, rather than details on the beta itself)
[2014/07/03 15:49] Nal (nalates.urriah): Duckie, for now probably not well. After testing the idea seems to be we will have grid wide keys.
[2014/07/03 15:49] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): I just bugged some more lindens about the slexp_beta@lindenlab.com email issue
[2014/07/03 15:49] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): it should be fixed now
[2014/07/03 15:49] Margithe: is it ment for private use as well, or public only? I mean, could i use it when making my home spot interactive, for friends, or is it geared to gamemakers foremost?
[2014/07/03 15:49] Nal (nalates.urriah): Thx Maestro
[2014/07/03 15:50] Inara Breen: Exp Keys will be private region / estate only or Mainland Parcel. Capability for grid-wide epxerience is there, but won't initially be turned on.
[2014/07/03 15:50] Lucia Nightfire: I think grid wide keys should be allowed.
[2014/07/03 15:50] Margithe: mainland parcel, not mainland sim?
[2014/07/03 15:50] Lucia Nightfire: Theres trusted/affiliate/sponsored vectors that will need them.
[2014/07/03 15:50] Nal (nalates.urriah): As best I can guess there will some restriction to block griefers, buying keys, signup, something so the Lab has an ID and can block miss behaving users.
[2014/07/03 15:51] Whirly Fizzle: Yeah they were hinting ant premium accounts only or some kind of charge to setup an experience
[2014/07/03 15:51] Margithe: hmmm
[2014/07/03 15:51] Lucia Nightfire: yes, should cost something to make a exp and require a test/premium status, heh
[2014/07/03 15:51] Margithe: Worst idea i ever heard, actually
[2014/07/03 15:52] Margithe: people should be paying for making games for others? really? Only in SL.
[2014/07/03 15:52] Inara Breen: Parcel, Margithe, as it has to be whitelisted
[2014/07/03 15:52] Nal (nalates.urriah): I think it is a good anti-griefing step.
[2014/07/03 15:52] Nal (nalates.urriah): I get the impression it is a token payment, but Oz says it is TBD.
[2014/07/03 15:52] Inara Breen: Making Exp Keys Premium-only was suggested at the TPV meeting.
[2014/07/03 15:53] Duckie Dickins: So..could one, for example...use an experience key on a game table to attach huds as necessary....then sell game tables to others and then they can use the experience by toggling something on their parcel?
[2014/07/03 15:53] Margithe: I think it's a another step in sucking content creators dry, and then laughing all the way to the bank. Just a reminder- LL doesn't make SL.
[2014/07/03 15:53] Lucia Nightfire: at what Duckie said, if its trusted/allowed then yes
[2014/07/03 15:54] Lucia Nightfire: which is an commerce area of interest imo
[2014/07/03 15:54] Duckie Dickins: yeah.
[2014/07/03 15:54] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Okay, it looks like there will be a real Q&A session for experience keys at Simon's next office hour
[2014/07/03 15:54] Lucia Nightfire: at least its one I'm goign to be focused on when exp perms is grid wide
[2014/07/03 15:54] Duckie Dickins: yay!
[2014/07/03 15:54] Lucia Nightfire: ty Maestro
[2014/07/03 15:54] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): on Tuesday, 12:00 (noon) PDT
[2014/07/03 15:54] Nal (nalates.urriah): Duckie, that's too deep a question for now... I can imagine a Greedy-Greedy game being an experience and all machines being part of the same experience... but, idk.
[2014/07/03 15:54] Whirly Fizzle: The exp tools discussion & the ide it would be tied to premium accounts etc can be seen on the meeting vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S-hoXupxXw
[2014/07/03 15:54] Jenna Felton: thank you Maestro
[2014/07/03 15:54] Whirly Fizzle: *idea
[2014/07/03 15:54] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): The SLURL I see in the wiki for that meeting is http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Denby/217/45/32
[2014/07/03 15:55] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): (on the main grid)
[2014/07/03 15:55] Whirly Fizzle: Cool thanks maestro
[2014/07/03 15:55] Duckie Dickins: thanks for the link whirly...I'll have to watch it
[2014/07/03 15:55] Nal (nalates.urriah): Yay, thx for finding out Maestro
[2014/07/03 15:55] Margithe: Will this be advertised anywhere else except here? Since... it's been pretty much the same gang attending all of the UG meetings for the past year or more
[2014/07/03 15:55] Margithe: I'm not sure other copntent creators even know these meetings exist.
[2014/07/03 15:56] Lucia Nightfire: theres a duality with exp perms imo, you can have in-house only, or trusted/affiliate/sponsored third party products
[2014/07/03 15:56] Lucia Nightfire: I have interests in both
[2014/07/03 15:56] Nal (nalates.urriah): Margithe, other than Inara and I publishing the info there isn't much notice
[2014/07/03 15:56] Duckie Dickins: if you blog post it to the SL blog, we'll need a bigger meeting area.
[2014/07/03 15:57] Lucia Nightfire: I'm sure its on slu too
[2014/07/03 15:57] Nal (nalates.urriah): Lucia, it will turn up on SLU
[2014/07/03 15:57] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): I'm not sure the user group will be advertised elsewhere by LL
[2014/07/03 15:57] Lucia Nightfire: I haven't checked, but I'd be surprised if it hasn't already
[2014/07/03 15:58] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): but the user group isn't considered secret of course
[2014/07/03 15:58] Duckie Dickins: it's sorta secret
[2014/07/03 15:58] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): I used this page for a quick view of the office hour schedule: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:User_Groups
[2014/07/03 15:58] Whirly Fizzle: All the UGs are listed on the wiki
[2014/07/03 15:58] Duckie Dickins: I dunno how many people know there's even a wiki. :P
[2014/07/03 15:58] Whirly Fizzle: Yeah that page
[2014/07/03 15:59] Lucia Nightfire: theres on;y so many ways you can broadcast it.
[2014/07/03 15:59] Duckie Dickins: it's sorta like...how many people know there's a mailing list too? lol
[2014/07/03 15:59] Margithe: content user group kinda died because no bright heads turned up there, more or less. It IS sort of a secret meeting. Reminds me of hitchhikers guide to the galaxy- the world plans for SL are hidden in a basement.... no secret... they have ben here all along, for anyone to look at.
[2014/07/03 15:59] Lucia Nightfire: content creators that always are keeping up on things will be the first ones to benefit, heh
[2014/07/03 16:00] Duckie Dickins: https://lists.secondlife.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo
[2014/07/03 16:00] Nal (nalates.urriah): it is really hard to spread the word unless something goes viral.
[2014/07/03 16:01] Margithe: or, you know, advertised straight on the login screen. Come to the user groups. We discuss tech in SL and the future!
[2014/07/03 16:01] Lucia Nightfire: like say a forced teleport, heh
[2014/07/03 16:01] Whirly Fizzle: Message of the day works quite well. But LL don't use theirs for stuff like this.
[2014/07/03 16:01] Margithe: ^-- what she said
[2014/07/03 16:01] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Lucia, we could use experience Keys for that!
[2014/07/03 16:02] Whirly Fizzle: If they did though, they'd need probably 4 regions for the UG heh
[2014/07/03 16:02] Lucia Nightfire: I'll savea lsit of questions for Tues
[2014/07/03 16:02] Theresa Tennyson: And 85% of the attendees would only attend to complain about it because it's Something New.
[2014/07/03 16:03] Lucia Nightfire: the onyl time a UG gets overcrowded is when a new estate becomes griefed out the yinyang and all teh members come to complain
[2014/07/03 16:03] Whirly Fizzle: The other 15% would be griffers :D
[2014/07/03 16:03] Duckie Dickins: start spamming tweets to @secondlife with #experiencekeys hashtag maybe. :)
[2014/07/03 16:03] Margithe: The first two times, yes
[2014/07/03 16:04] Margithe: then as usual, they get bored, and whats left are those new talented people that LL managed to reach out to. I think it would be for benefit
[2014/07/03 16:04] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): Well, it looks like we're out of time
[2014/07/03 16:05] Lucia Nightfire: gonna send my request now, heh
[2014/07/03 16:05] Nal (nalates.urriah): Thanks Maestro, Caleb
[2014/07/03 16:05] Duckie Dickins: thank you for still continuing these UGs.
[2014/07/03 16:05] Margithe: Thanks for having us here ;)
[2014/07/03 16:05] Yuzuru (yuzuru.jewell): Thank you, Maestro and Caleb.
[2014/07/03 16:05] Whirly Fizzle: Ty Lindens :)
[2014/07/03 16:05] Caleb Linden: take care guys
[2014/07/03 16:05] Jenna Felton: thank you everyone for the meeting and have a great end of the week!
[2014/07/03 16:06] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): I'd meant to cover next week's maintenance server RC, but we got a little derailed by experience talk
[2014/07/03 16:06] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): there's nothing too exciting, so it can wait until next week
[2014/07/03 16:06] Duckie Dickins: have a happy murica day tomorrow everyone
[2014/07/03 16:06] Margithe: sorry >.<
[2014/07/03 16:06] Lucia Nightfire: well you can run it down in a few words,
[2014/07/03 16:06] Lucia Nightfire: ie, any shieny's?
[2014/07/03 16:06] Lucia Nightfire: *shineys
[2014/07/03 16:06] Jenna Felton: :)
[2014/07/03 16:06] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): just some bug fixes
[2014/07/03 16:06] Jenna Felton: also good thing
[2014/07/03 16:06] Lucia Nightfire: interesting bugs?
[2014/07/03 16:07] Jenna Felton: god bugs are those that are no bugs
[2014/07/03 16:07] Jenna Felton: good*
[2014/07/03 16:07] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): one related to interest list
[2014/07/03 16:07] Lucia Nightfire: we don't want god bugs, heh
[2014/07/03 16:07] Whirly Fizzle: Good bugs become features ;)
[2014/07/03 16:07] Lucia Nightfire: ^
[2014/07/03 16:07] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): well, I'll keep you in suspense until next week :)
[2014/07/03 16:07] Lucia Nightfire: thanks
[2014/07/03 16:08] Mæstro Linden (maestro.linden): thanks for coming, everybody!
[2014/07/03 16:08] Latif Khalifa: thank you Maestro :)
[2014/07/03 16:08] Inara Breen: Thanks, Maestro
[2014/07/03 16:09] Nal (nalates.urriah): Anyone notice the region east of us is the one seen in the Torley video?
[2014/07/03 16:09] Whirly Fizzle: Yeah
[2014/07/03 16:10] Whirly Fizzle: His orbiting cotton candy isn't there though. I went to look already hahaha
[2014/07/03 16:10] Nal (nalates.urriah): Oh darn...
