  • [12:00] Alexa Linden: today's agenda.....
  • [12:00] Alexa Linden: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage/Monday_Agenda
  • [12:00] Soft Linden: Yus!
  • [12:00] Youri Ashton: before we sstart
  • [12:00] Soft LindenSoft Linden unleashes the hounds on Melfina!
  • [12:00] Latif Khalifa: hahaha
  • [12:00] Melfina Marshdevil: what did I do? :P
  • [12:00] Youri Ashton: how far is the problem with european internet providers and connection to SL?
  • [12:01] Youri Ashton: looks fixed, but i do keep having problems
  • [12:01] Youri Ashton: mainly lag, chatlag and tp problems
  • [12:01] Alexa Linden: It's being worked on with the provider and our team
  • [12:01] Youri Ashton: any word on what the problem is/was?
  • [12:01] Latif Khalifa: ah, there was a problem? I had schizo connection this morning, i thought it was me ;)
  • [12:01] Youri Ashton: would be nice to know on the jira since it may happen again
  • [12:02] Soft Linden: Nothing firm yet. But it's not the only link. It's one of quite a few that go to Europe.
  • [12:02] Alexa Linden: I will ask them tp post an update
  • [12:02] Soft Linden: +1 Alexa
  • [12:02] Alexa Linden: Latif, it seems to be related to a specific service provider
  • [12:02] Youri Ashton: please do, lots of worried people are asking for just that
  • [12:02] Alexa Linden: Zing I believe....
  • [12:02] xstorm Radek: is the prim color tint problem do to shadow and light on the item making it seem as to not match ?
  • [12:02] Latif Khalifa: I could get 50% of the login severs and 50% of the sims
  • [12:02] Alexa Linden: ok first up
  • [12:02] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-4095
  • [12:02] JIRA-helper: [#VWR-4095] Prim attachments & clothing layers don't match when tinted
  • [12:03] Soft Linden: When I looked, it looked like Global Exchange - one of the networks between us - but the ops guys were already on top of it and would know far more for a status update.
  • [12:03] Soft Linden: Yeah, the lighting model is different between avatar meshes and objects... dunno why...
  • [12:03] Latif Khalifa: Soft, exactly, I had issues with them, I think the company is called Global Crossing
  • [12:03] Alexa Linden: windlight does that
  • [12:03] Soft Linden: I think we could import this for comment from graphics guys
  • [12:04] Soft Linden: They'd know if it's fixable, or might have suggestions on how to compensate
  • [12:04] Alexa Linden: and lighting settings
  • [12:04] xstorm Radek: ok so it is a basic light to layer problem
  • [12:04] Youri Ashton: thought that was not a bug, hmm... but i did see this on Open Life happen as well, seems to be not just SL that has this problem
  • [12:04] Alexa Linden: I can spin around and face the sun and the lighting effect on the attached prims reverses as I rotate
  • [12:04] xstorm Radek: i think i know why that is then
  • [12:04] Youri Ashton: hi erica
  • [12:05] xstorm Radek: i was working with a problem like that to day on aditi
  • [12:05] Alexa Linden: remember when windlght came out
  • [12:05] Alexa Linden: we had a lot of reports of this
  • [12:05] Alexa Linden: Windlight*
  • [12:05] Soft Linden: I think it was like this before Windlight as well...
  • [12:05] xstorm Radek: i had to go in to Develop under render to fix the problem
  • [12:05] Youri Ashton: hey liisa :0
  • [12:06] xstorm Radek: there is a setting under render that seems to fix the color problem up to a point
  • [12:06] Alexa Linden: suggestions?
  • [12:06] Soft Linden: Anyway - the graphics guys should have an idea of how to prevent it, or would know if it can or can't be changed.
  • [12:06] Soft Linden: I'd import, asking for comment
  • [12:06] Alexa Linden: ok
  • [12:06] Soft Linden: I'd bet Brad would have an answer
  • [12:06] xstorm Radek: but it needs a new setting to fix the way light works with tint and color
  • [12:06] Alexa Linden: next one is a Feature reqest
  • [12:06] Youri Ashton: this one is not driver related, that far i know
  • [12:07] Alexa Linden: which is already imported
  • [12:07] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-17011
  • [12:07] JIRA-helper: [#VWR-17011] Bring back the option to keep focus on the chat bar!
  • [12:07] xstorm Radek: i hate to say it but please yes bring it back
  • [12:08] Soft Linden: Last week, we asked about reworking this to state the problem, instead of a specific solution
  • [12:08] Soft Linden: I'm looking - was a separate one created? This one doesn't look to have been edited
  • [12:08] Alexa Linden: this was updated on the internal side also
  • [12:08] Latif Khalifa: Argent commented that a simple preference would do
  • [12:09] Alexa Linden: I can ping the team and ask them where this stands and for an update
  • [12:09] Soft Linden: The chat bar is always present in 2.x - I don't understand how this would work.
  • [12:10] Erica Linden: nor do i
  • [12:10] Erica Linden: constant focus on chat?
  • [12:10] Youri Ashton: chat bar is indeed a big issue
  • [12:10] Latif Khalifa: the way it works in 1.x
  • [12:10] Liisa Runo: same solution than to every problem, make it work like 1.X client
  • [12:10] Youri Ashton: very annoying when you try to build for example since it keeps getting in the way
  • [12:10] Erica Linden: resizable in 2.1, fyi
  • [12:10] Youri Ashton: but i would say a feature request, not a bug
  • [12:10] Erica Linden: ah ok
  • [12:11] Soft Linden: Can we ask for a walkthrough of exactly how he thinks it should work, given that the chatbar doesn't hide anymore? Both with and without the preference he wants added?
  • [12:11] Alexa Linden: will do
  • [12:11] Ardy Lay: I much prefered chat input attached to local chat history and hid the chat bar.
  • [12:11] Latif Khalifa: people suggest there is an option to disable WASD altoghether in which case focus would work as in 1.x
  • [12:11] Youri Ashton: prevered to be back to like how it was, be gone with the chat if you dont need it
  • [12:11] Alexa Linden: Latif, I saw the request for that
  • [12:11] Alexa Linden: and imported
  • [12:11] Latif Khalifa: you lose WASD control, but for those who want chat focus it does not matter
  • [12:11] Youri Ashton: just adds a little extra lag while you can not use it
  • [12:12] Ardy Lay: That way I could alt-tab through all chat channels.
  • [12:12] Ardy Lay: Now I have to use the mouse and it's a lot slowwer and I keep sending on the wron channels.
  • [12:12] Alexa LindenAlexa Linden nods
  • [12:12] xstorm Radek: yes a lot slower
  • [12:12] Erica Linden: so the request is also for a turn-offable chat window?
  • [12:13] Ardy Lay: Not to mention the "toasts" are VERY ANNOYING.
  • [12:13] Liisa Runo: yes, just like in 1.x
  • [12:13] xstorm Radek: lol
  • [12:13] Youri Ashton: a chat window that can be turned off would be perfect
  • [12:13] Erica Linden: ardy - how do you feel about the torn off state, or the expaned chat history?
  • [12:13] Youri Ashton: at least it isnt bugging you while trying to work
  • [12:13] Erica Linden: (non toast)
  • [12:13] Liisa Runo: enter to open chat, enter to send message and close chat, WASD to move around
  • [12:13] Erica Linden: which remembers state cross login
  • [12:13] Youri Ashton: hi kri
  • [12:13] Soft Linden: Clarification - you're asking about a chat bar that can be turned off, not a chat window, right?
  • [12:14] Ardy Lay: I use chat history almost 100% of the time and want IMs merged back into a common floater with it.
  • [12:14] Liisa Runo: chat bar
  • [12:14] xstorm Radek: hey i like Toat and peanut butter
  • [12:14] xstorm Radek: ;-)
  • [12:14] xstorm Radek: jk
  • [12:14] Youri Ashton: lol
  • [12:14] Youri Ashton: down boy :p
  • [12:14] Latif Khalifa: Ardy, that too :)
  • [12:14] Ardy Lay: I want alt-left arrow and alt-right arrow to navigate chat channel "tabs".
  • [12:15] Ardy Lay: I really miss all that a lot.
  • [12:15] Alexa Linden: ok to get back to the agenda
  • [12:15] Latif Khalifa: local chat is the worst UI regression of the viewer2 and is what I think is causing most resistance to switch to it
  • [12:15] Soft Linden: Hey, let's not design this in real time though... it would be best to get a prefered flow of what happens with and without the option on that JIRA
  • [12:15] xstorm Radek: that sounds like it will work
  • [12:15] Alexa Linden: please add all helpful clarifications to the jira and I will update with the questions on clarifications
  • [12:15] Erica Linden: what soft said. :)
  • [12:15] Ellla McMahon: I think this issue is about disabling WASD because if you don't click on the chat window before you type, then your avi moves (jumps usually)
  • [12:15] Youri Ashton: agreed soft, better to try something and test that then talk it over in this OH
  • [12:15] Latif Khalifa: there are plenty of UI JIRA's ;)
  • [12:16] Liisa Runo: no need to design it real time, took years to get 1.x chat work so everyone like it, keep it
  • [12:16] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-2411
  • [12:16] JIRA-helper: [#WEB-2411] Support: Upper limit on the number of tickets the new system will accept
  • [12:16] Soft Linden: No, not better to implement and test. But better to have a complete description on the JIRA, or we'll only cover a few JIRAs
  • [12:16] Erica LindenErica Linden giggles about 'everyone liking' 1.x chat
  • [12:16] Youri Ashton: i however do like to make the suggestion to add in a forum topic about the ideas for a better working SL theme
  • [12:16] Youri Ashton: might be a good source for LL to get ideas that may work better
  • [12:16] Latif Khalifa: Erica, you have evidence that people didn't like 1.x local chat?
  • [12:16] Erica Linden: +1
  • [12:16] xstorm Radek: i do not get the upper limit one
  • [12:16] Latif Khalifa: or is that a personal preference?
  • [12:17] Ellla McMahon: re WEB 2411 not sure if this is an individual issue or as a result of the changes to support tickets/cases
  • [12:17] Erica Linden: that's a good idea Youri - working in SL setups, screenshots, etc are all useful
  • [12:17] Soft Linden: Wow, how many tickets did they create?
  • [12:17] Erica Linden: Latif - i have the hate mail, jira, and user test videos to prove it. ;)
  • [12:17] Alexa Linden: ya, not sure about this one?
  • [12:18] Soft Linden: I'd import. It's probably moot since we're moving the hell off of Parature finally, but support can contact that resi if they think it makes sense.
  • [12:18] Ellla McMahon: I think there were 3 jiras so maybe a few
  • [12:18] Latif Khalifa: Erica, you and I live in alternative universes then. No other explanation
  • [12:18] Soft Linden: Unless there's a better way for them to contact support themselves?
  • [12:18] Youri Ashton: not just setups and screenshots, but i think it might be at least a good idea to allow the residents to add in their ideas by text even. at least LL will allow the space for possible changes
  • [12:18] Erica Linden: certainly.
  • [12:19] Morgaine Dinova: Erica: V1.x wasn't perfect, but people only realized how good it was when the disaster of V2 hit them.
  • [12:19] Youri Ashton: as i said when 2.0 came out, its far from perfect and it siriously needs changes due to accesability problems. a lot have problems adapting to the new viewer and are so affraid of it that they skip to other viewers
  • [12:19] Erica Linden: Sorry to derail all - moving on to the agenda
  • [12:19] Alexa Linden: hey guys, can we please sideline your discussion
  • [12:19] Erica LindenErica Linden is abashed
  • [12:19] Alexa Linden: we need to keep to our agenda
  • [12:19] Youri Ashton: just to beat the time untill 1.23.x gets blocked
  • [12:20] Alexa Linden: we're on https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-2411
  • [12:20] JIRA-helper: [#WEB-2411] Support: Upper limit on the number of tickets the new system will accept
  • [12:20] xstorm Radek: i like 2.1
  • [12:20] Soft Linden: On this - is there an alternate way for them to contact support, or should we import and ask support if they want to contact the resi?
  • [12:20] xstorm Radek: yes no clue
  • [12:20] Alexa Linden: I'd say import at least for clarification of the alt processes
  • [12:21] xstorm Radek: >:-) tell them to talk to the Ontyne
  • [12:21] Alexa Linden: next up
  • [12:21] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-14537
  • [12:21] JIRA-helper: [#VWR-14537] llDialog user button with text "Ignore" is treated like client "Ignore" button and is dropped when clicked.
  • [12:21] Ardy Lay: Send that resident to the "Chronic Trouble Team". :-)
  • [12:22] Object: Hello, Avatar!
  • [12:22] xstorm Radek: how did this test take place to see if thats true ?
  • [12:22] Soft Linden: Too funny. I didn't know it did this...
  • [12:22] Object: Ignore
  • [12:22] Alexa Linden: interesting....
  • [12:22] Erica Linden: o rlly
  • [12:22] Soft Linden: If I add spaces, it doesn't work that way.
  • [12:22] Erica Linden: yipes
  • [12:22] xstorm Radek: oh i see
  • [12:22] Soft Linden: Let's impport.
  • [12:23] xstorm Radek: not good
  • [12:23] Soft Linden: This can't be intentional. Or someone was kinda lazy if so. :)
  • [12:23] Alexa Linden: ok
  • [12:23] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-2444
  • [12:23] JIRA-helper: [#WEB-2444] Avatars can now remove themselves from in-world "People Search
  • [12:23] Ardy Lay: Kinda like not being able to mute an object named Second Life?
  • [12:23] Alexa Linden: this one does drive me nuts
  • [12:24] Soft Linden: That will be fixed if it hasn't already been
  • [12:24] Soft Linden: (to Ardy, not this issue)
  • [12:24] Ardy Lay: Thanks Soft.
  • [12:24] xstorm Radek: oh nasty
  • [12:24] Alexa Linden: I do see why people want this
  • [12:24] Latif Khalifa: this makes fighting griefers next to impossible with 2.1... inability to open people's profiles
  • [12:24] Soft Linden: I believe this is by design.
  • [12:24] Alexa Linden: ie builder alts and not being bothered
  • [12:24] Latif Khalifa: that's bad design
  • [12:25] Liisa Runo: busy button is for not being bothered
  • [12:25] Latif Khalifa: i had a report xxx yyy is doing trouble in your sandbox, i could not open up their profile
  • [12:25] Alexa Linden: but it is a pain... if you're trying to IM someone\touche!
  • [12:25] Soft Linden: There should be a request to remove this functionality altogether, if that's what's wanted.
  • [12:25] Melfina Marshdevil: removal from search should either be complete or none. there are workarounds.
  • [12:25] Alexa Linden: ya Latif, I was on my resi
  • [12:25] Soft Linden: But I don't think it's a bug that the different user searches are working consistently now.
  • [12:25] Alexa Linden: store owner was hidden
  • [12:25] Soft Linden: ie - re-breaking it in just one place isn't the solution if there's a problem
  • [12:25] Latif Khalifa: Soft, we need ability to open up a profile
  • [12:26] Liisa Runo: always
  • [12:26] Alexa Linden: tried to tell them their store had griefers
  • [12:26] Soft Linden: Right. So I would suggest a JIRA that proposes removing the hide ability altogether
  • [12:26] Erica Linden: yes, it seems to work 'right' but the question of whether to allow folks to entirely hide the existance of an avatar name is a good question
  • [12:26] xstorm Radek: i can see how griefers will use that
  • [12:26] Alexa Linden: ya it is as designed
  • [12:26] Latif Khalifa: Soft, consider this scenario, I get an offline IM, you store failed to delivered a product to me... I try to open their profile to resend it, and cannot do it in 2.x
  • [12:26] Soft Linden: Latif, I'm not disagreeing with you.
  • [12:26] Alexa Linden: but I think the level you can Hide is questionable?
  • [12:27] lufpleh Obstreperous: Profile should always be searchable, whats dispalyed within Profile should be able to be displayed/hidden, ability to contact can be displayed/hidden
  • [12:27] Erica Linden: might make more sense to hide, picks, description, etc if the user chooses
  • [12:27] Latif Khalifa: Soft, the original intent of that button "show in web search"... rename it as such and hide profiles from the web site
  • [12:27] Ardy Lay: Yes
  • [12:27] xstorm Radek: well may be if some one puts back profile look up on mini map again it will help hint hint
  • [12:27] Latif Khalifa: people were nervous about SL profiles being searchable on the net
  • [12:28] Latif Khalifa: that's why that button came about
  • [12:28] Erica Linden: yeah, that was like 3 years ago - Latif is right
  • [12:28] Melfina Marshdevil: so the button should only effect outside of SL searches.
  • [12:28] Soft Linden: If that's the case, the proposed fix should be changing it just on the SL website though, not the in-viewer search?
  • [12:28] Erica Linden: right - so soft - the bug should be "remove ability to entirely hide an avatar name, replace with/ability to hide profile details"
  • [12:28] Latif Khalifa: now that we have googliefed search in viewer2 it has spread to in world
  • [12:28] Soft Linden: Erica, would you want to take this in for XD discussion?
  • [12:28] Alexa Linden: I do agree with changing the description
  • [12:29] Erica Linden: happily!
  • [12:29] Latif Khalifa: Soft, yes, that would be the fic
  • [12:29] Latif Khalifa: fix
  • [12:29] xstorm Radek: its close to how people can see if a linden is online of not
  • [12:29] Latif Khalifa: "remove profile from website search", always keep it in in-world one
  • [12:29] Alexa Linden: Latif... there is no fic :p
  • [12:29] Soft Linden: I want to be sure some engineer doesn't think making the viewer-initiated searches inconsistent again is the fix, is all
  • [12:29] Latif Khalifa: Alexa :D
  • [12:29] Alexa Linden: lol
  • [12:29] Alexa Linden: next up!
  • [12:29] Erica Linden: we need more clear ways to set privacy/levels of access to info
  • [12:29] Kri Winsmore: I agree, hiding details is a good idea for those who wish to maintain privavcy and they decide to share them when they accept a friend request?
  • [12:29] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-19151
  • [12:29] JIRA-helper: [#VWR-19151] Setting afk-timeout to "never" in viewer 2 sets timeout in 1.23 to zero seconds
  • [12:29] Soft Linden: The FIC is real, and we use our own currency.
  • [12:30] Alexa Linden: hahahaha shhhhhhh
  • [12:30] Erica Linden: oh nice
  • [12:30] Latif Khalifa: what is it called? ;)
  • [12:30] Erica Linden: never. zero. you know. same thing right.
  • [12:30] Erica Linden: ;)
  • [12:30] Soft Linden: P$
  • [12:30] Soft Linden: And enough on that
  • [12:30] Latif Khalifa: wasn't this one marked for "won't finish" as unfixable at the last triage
  • [12:30] Youri Ashton: i just de-activate it in Advanced menu most of the time, never had problems.
  • [12:30] Alexa Linden: I missed this one
  • [12:30] Alexa Linden: sorry and yes
  • [12:31] Soft Linden: I don't understand what Moon is asking
  • [12:31] Youri Ashton: could there be a problem with the coding? could be the cause
  • [12:31] Soft Linden: Moon is asking for a completely separate settings file for each release, via the --settings parm?
  • [12:31] xstorm Radek: ??? never and 0 same thing
  • [12:31] Alexa Linden: this was won't finish last week
  • [12:31] Alexa Linden: I missed it sorry :(
  • [12:32] Erica Linden: next!
  • [12:32] Soft Linden: Moon reopened it
  • [12:32] xstorm Radek: lol
  • [12:32] Alexa LindenAlexa Linden slaps her own hand
  • [12:32] Alexa Linden: ok
  • [12:32] Soft Linden: But I don't understand what Moon is asking for.
  • [12:32] Liisa Runo: fix
  • [12:32] Alexa Linden: I take the slap back dammit
  • [12:32] Youri Ashton: lol
  • [12:32] xstorm Radek: lol
  • [12:32] Soft Linden: I'd re-close, asking for clarification of what Moon thinks the parameter would accomplish
  • [12:32] Latif Khalifa: well the same setting was used in both versions, and it has a different meaning, and there is nothing it can be done about it now ;)
  • [12:32] Youri Ashton: stop slapping yourself silly alexa
  • [12:33] Alexa Linden: will do soft
  • [12:33] Soft Linden: +1 Latif, per my understanding
  • [12:33] xstorm Radek: close it please
  • [12:33] Alexa Linden: yes sir!
  • [12:33] Soft Linden: Kill it with particle fire!
  • [12:33] Latif Khalifa: lol
  • [12:33] Alexa Linden: neeeeeext
  • [12:33] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-1425
  • [12:33] JIRA-helper: [#WEB-1425] If you uncheck the "Friend can see you when you're online" checkbox in your friends list, then your friend can no longer see your name at all (even greyed out) in the "Friends Online" website.
  • [12:33] Soft Linden: We imported one like this already
  • [12:33] Liisa Runo: dejavu
  • [12:33] Erica Linden: again!
  • [12:34] Youri Ashton: omg
  • [12:34] Alexa Linden: yup
  • [12:34] Soft Linden: We imported one like this already
  • [12:34] Alexa Linden: will link together
  • [12:34] Youri Ashton: sound slike banning yourself
  • [12:34] Youri Ashton: or muting actually
  • [12:34] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-1446
  • [12:34] JIRA-helper: [#WEB-1446] Make Google search in the Wiki use https protocol instead of http to avoid assumed logout after search
  • [12:34] Morgaine Dinova: It's not a bad idea to allow config files to be overridden from the command line though. It adds flexibility in lots of situations, and is trivial to code.
  • [12:35] Soft Linden: Morgaine - that's already there, isn't it?
  • [12:35] Latif Khalifa: that functionality already exists
  • [12:35] Latif Khalifa: --settings xxxx.xml
  • [12:35] Ardy Lay: That only affects that one file.
  • [12:35] Alexa Linden: Zai Lynch added a comment - 10/May/10 04:01 PM
  • I think it's really a problem across the multiple hosts (like Yoz assumed in the above comment).
  • It currently works flawless for me, but it changes from time to time... Broken, fixed, broken, fixed... Rewind, repeat.
  • [12:35] Ardy Lay: Settings are in multiple files.
  • [12:36] Youri Ashton: ask zai i suggest, she most likely knows, i dont call her zaipedia for nothing :p
  • [12:36] xstorm Radek: has to be HTTPS for tunneling and safe pipe commands
  • [12:36] Alexa Linden: hahahaha youri :p
  • [12:36] Soft Linden: For this, really I'd suggest that there should be a rule to automatically rewrite all http URLs as https on wiki.secondlife.com :P
  • [12:37] Latif Khalifa: Soft, ask you hosting service first :P It might kill their servers
  • [12:37] Youri Ashton: think you need to talk to Zai, she knows more about it then any of us
  • [12:37] Soft Linden: This still repros for me
  • [12:37] Soft Linden: I'd import and pass to Yoz
  • [12:37] Soft Linden: With a note to see the 2nd most recent comment
  • [12:38] Soft Linden: It's a straightforward walkthrough, in case the original was unclear
  • [12:38] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-2277
  • [12:38] JIRA-helper: [#WEB-2277] Quick Buy Unavailable
  • [12:38] xstorm Radek: you just can not mix HTTP and HTTPS thats not good to hix
  • [12:38] Alexa Linden: I'll take this one and ask
  • [12:38] Alexa Linden: I sit close to a person on this team
  • [12:39] Erica Linden: HTTP + HTTPS = http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x22/DrunkMonkGar/Motivators/Wharrgabrl.jpg
  • [12:39] Melfina Marshdevil: lol
  • [12:39] Alexa Linden: the next is a search bug
  • [12:39] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-2436
  • [12:39] JIRA-helper: [#WEB-2436] Inworld Search for "Watch" and "watches" is choked by youtube URLs
  • [12:39] Youri Ashton: (tried to repro SL wiki search bug 3 times, does NOT repro for me)
  • [12:39] Alexa Linden: which I will alert the search team about
  • [12:40] Soft Linden: Youtube will be the death of watchmakers!
  • [12:40] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-2755
  • [12:40] JIRA-helper: [#MISC-2755] Total object loss after asset server delay
  • [12:40] Erica Linden: I'm seeing some pretty nice watch shops in search today
  • [12:40] xstorm Radek: lol
  • [12:40] Soft Linden: I'm not seeing this either
  • [12:40] Youri Ashton: this is part of a bug i been reporting
  • [12:41] Youri Ashton: i already told about it to Simon, Andrew and Oskar
  • [12:41] Youri Ashton: they are atm looking into it
  • [12:41] Alexa Linden: 2755 youri?
  • [12:41] Soft Linden: Can anyone reproduce the watch issue?
  • [12:41] Youri Ashton: yes
  • [12:41] Youri Ashton: it is a part of a much larger problem
  • [12:41] xstorm Radek: not me'
  • [12:41] Soft Linden: Youri - in the current version of search right now? Which viewer?
  • [12:41] Alexa Linden: soft, I actually sent that to learch Friday
  • [12:41] Youri Ashton: all
  • [12:41] Alexa Linden: the watch issue
  • [12:41] Soft Linden: AH okay
  • [12:41] Youri Ashton: any
  • [12:41] Youri Ashton: doesnt matter
  • [12:42] Youri Ashton: it is NOT the viewers however
  • [12:42] Youri Ashton: i have it on my alt, but not on youri
  • [12:42] Youri Ashton: so it is a server side problem
  • [12:42] Youri Ashton: both Andrew as Oskar told me this
  • [12:42] Youri Ashton: let me send the notecard i sended them
  • [12:42] xstorm Radek: why is youtube a problem ?
  • [12:42] Alexa Linden: wiat
  • [12:42] Alexa Linden: wait*
  • [12:42] Latif Khalifa: I'm confused
  • [12:43] Erica Linden: might move this from web to core then?
  • [12:43] Alexa Linden: 2 issues - Search is already done
  • [12:43] Latif Khalifa: is this about search, or asset server
  • [12:43] xstorm Radek: any flash site will be a problem no ?
  • [12:43] Alexa Linden: we're on https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-2755
  • [12:43] JIRA-helper: [#MISC-2755] Total object loss after asset server delay
  • [12:43] Wyn Galbraith: youtube will do that, confuse you.
  • [12:43] Youri Ashton: i know alexa
  • [12:43] Youri Ashton: i was telling about that one
  • [12:43] Alexa Linden: ya but for otehrs youri ;)
  • [12:43] Alexa Linden: others*
  • [12:43] Youri Ashton: it isnt a solo bug
  • [12:43] Soft Linden: The more general problem would be the parsing of urls in keyword searches. That doesn't seem to be happening in my viewer session.
  • [12:43] Youri Ashton: it is part of a much larger bug
  • [12:43] Youri Ashton: this resident just got a minor blow
  • [12:43] xstorm Radek: oh assets that was do to a number of broken server links no ?
  • [12:44] Youri Ashton: but a lot got a much harder blow
  • [12:44] Morgaine Dinova: I just read the whole VWR-19151 again and I see what Moon is saying. The --settings thing wasn't a request, that already exists and she knew it --- she was suggesting it be used to bypass the problem temporarily. Her beef is that V2 is described as not affecting V1 installation, but it does because a timeout change done in V2 is incompatible with V1. I suspect she's implicitly suggesting that V2 be made to use a different settings filename, so that V2 and V1 are genuinely independent.
  • [12:44] Youri Ashton: ill send notecard
  • [12:44] Latif Khalifa: i have seen MISC-2755 or similar many times... there is a wrong order of steps when taking objects
  • [12:44] xstorm Radek: ------------------------------------------------
  • [12:44] Soft Linden: On the asset server issue, I'd just do the triage date to see if it picks up more votes. I don't think we can get core to spend time on it right now when there are other issues happening more frequently
  • [12:44] Youri Ashton: it is actually no longer a grasmere problem as the notecard suggests
  • [12:45] Youri Ashton: it happens in multiple sims
  • [12:45] Alexa Linden: and I will read the notecard after and ping oskar
  • [12:45] Alexa Linden: thanks Youri :)
  • [12:45] Youri Ashton: xstorm has similar problems
  • [12:45] Youri Ashton: np
  • [12:45] Latif Khalifa: the problem is that "take" operation is like 5 steps and that needs to be sort of atomic, and it isn't
  • [12:46] Soft Linden: No, but it is supposed to deposit an item back in the sim if the last piece of the upload isn't reached.
  • [12:46] xstorm Radek: yes i did track it down to multi link objects that path was broken after a sim crash to the assets server
  • [12:46] Youri Ashton: oh, do check the pictures on my flcer page, they are showing the bigger problems
  • [12:46] Ardy Lay: It's why I use "take copy" and avoid no-copy objects.
  • [12:46] Youri Ashton: including the prim loss as in 2755
  • [12:46] Alexa Linden: next is https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-4241
  • [12:46] JIRA-helper: [#SVC-4241] physical objects become non-physical, possibly when crossing parcel lines
  • [12:46] Latif Khalifa: different symptoms for failures at different times along the line, from "ghost prims" when it fails to remove them from the physics, to a complete loss when the asset server fails to save and sim fails to bring it back in world
  • [12:47] Youri Ashton: hard to repro here
  • [12:47] Youri Ashton: ill take it to a sandbox later on and report about it
  • [12:47] xstorm Radek: yes i am seeing phantom prims still turn non phantom on Aditi
  • [12:47] Melfina Marshdevil: Maybe more detailed error messages on asset/object failures?
  • [12:47] Alexa Linden: hmmmm
  • [12:47] xstorm Radek: but its do to sim crossings
  • [12:48] Alexa Linden: this reminds me of another crossing bug I was testing 2 weeks ago
  • [12:48] Alexa Linden: this is also a year old
  • [12:48] Youri Ashton: i can see why though, logically the new sim will make things solid again since it refuses to make things move further unless its a vehicle
  • [12:48] Morgaine Dinova: MISC-2755 needs Which's old escrow solution for transactional rollback of partial operations on failure. Complex though :-)
  • [12:48] Alexa Linden: ok half a year or so
  • [12:49] xstorm Radek: i am still having a number of problems with sim crossings
  • [12:49] Erica Linden: might want to add this to the qa testplan for new Havok version?
  • [12:50] Youri Ashton: Morg, Andrew called that (or at least my problem which is clearly the main event of it) "critical"
  • [12:50] Soft Linden: This is very low vote, compared to other issues. It wouldn't be a good use of core time if it takes a lot of exploration. Let's NMI asking for a reliable repro if people want attention on it
  • [12:50] Alexa Linden: agreed
  • [12:50] Liisa Runo: (kinky people got their own continent. Maybe banline people should get their own continent next)
  • [12:50] Soft Linden: If we imported this, it would sit forever while it's still a bit graspy
  • [12:50] Morgaine Dinova: Youri: I'd tend to agree --- data integrity is important, or maybe non-optional really. Quite a big job though.
  • [12:51] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-425
  • [12:51] xstorm Radek: OMG!! think of all the ships and cars that will need to be tested
  • [12:51] JIRA-helper: [#SVC-425] Physical script calls from non-root prims of attachments do not effect the avatar.
  • [12:51] Xfactor Xenno: wow lot of ppl here lol
  • [12:51] Alexa Linden: hi xfactor :)
  • [12:51] Alexa Linden: just the usual crowd L)
  • [12:51] Xfactor Xenno: hello alexa
  • [12:51] Alexa Linden: :)
  • [12:51] Xfactor Xenno: first time here lol
  • [12:51] Youri Ashton: xfactor is a friend of me, first time for him joining in :)
  • [12:51] Alexa Linden: we're working on https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-425
  • [12:51] Xfactor Xenno: was up to all
  • [12:51] JIRA-helper: [#SVC-425] Physical script calls from non-root prims of attachments do not effect the avatar.
  • [12:51] xstorm Radek: yes i know
  • [12:51] Alexa Linden: well welcome then!
  • [12:52] Soft Linden: Hasn't this always been the case?
  • [12:52] Liisa Runo: yup
  • [12:52] Wyn Galbraith: Welcome Xfaxtor, how well do you know Simon?
  • [12:52] xstorm Radek: SHips and cars use that
  • [12:52] Soft Linden: Oh, '07
  • [12:52] Erica Linden: oh - SVC-425 is an annoyingly bad design on the build tool - it isn't clear from the "edit linked" that yr changes only apply to root -
  • [12:52] Xfactor Xenno: tyvm
  • [12:52] Erica Linden: falcon's working on that now
  • [12:52] xstorm Radek: crap
  • [12:52] Soft Linden: 2 votes in 3 years. I feel okay about just dating this one.
  • [12:52] Youri Ashton: soft: i really wont dare to say anything bout this jira. not my line of things
  • [12:52] Youri Ashton: i agree soft
  • [12:52] Alexa Linden: done
  • [12:52] Youri Ashton: best close it, if people feel like it, they sure will re-open it
  • [12:53] Alexa Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-4348
  • [12:53] JIRA-helper: [#SVC-4348] Zeroing Prim Rotation via llSetRot Has No Effect After llTargetOmega
  • [12:53] Soft Linden: Ha. We're so bad about saying won't fix - but the last one probably is, yeah.
  • [12:53] Alexa Linden: ok
  • [12:53] Alexa Linden: changing to that
  • [12:53] Alexa Linden: better to be honest
  • [12:54] xstorm Radek: can any one get that rotation one to work ?
  • [12:54] Object: Hello, Avatar!
  • [12:54] Liisa Runo: i have had this issue
  • [12:54] Youri Ashton: hi jonathan
  • [12:54] Liisa Runo: cant remember if i found workaround
  • [12:54] Latif Khalifa: SVC-4348 is expected behaviour methinks
  • [12:54] Morgaine Dinova: Soft, since we're near the end, I read back to the start, and I see that no mention was made of the issue that startled us over the weekend, about Emerald users' personal directory paths being secretly encoded in Emerald's uploaded bake textures. Is this something that LL is going to address urgently, or already has?
  • [12:54] Melfina Marshdevil: Haha.
  • [12:54] Soft Linden: the zero rotation is taking for me...
  • [12:55] Soft Linden: Is anyone seeing that object not in zero rotation right now?
  • [12:55] Xfactor Xenno: any one wanna add me feal free
  • [12:55] xstorm Radek: i was trying it befor the meeting but did not trigger the problem
  • [12:55] Soft Linden: (in the center of the area)
  • [12:55] Soft Linden: Morgaine - I've made sure the decision makers know about it. I don't know what happens next.
  • [12:56] Soft Linden: SVC-4348 is can't repro for me
  • [12:56] Morgaine Dinova: Soft: Thanks. What's the next step for the community? How long do we wait before asking again?
  • [12:56] Youri Ashton: hi dreamer
  • [12:56] Dreamer Enyo: Hey
  • [12:56] Alexa Linden: and that's it for today!
  • [12:56] Alexa Linden: a quick note that the normal V2 triage
  • [12:57] Alexa Linden: that bamber's has
  • [12:57] Soft Linden: Morgaine - I don't know
  • [12:57] Alexa Linden: has moved to Tuesdays
  • [12:57] Alexa Linden: so please check out the main bug triage wiki
  • [12:57] Alexa Linden: and I'll see some of you there :D
  • [12:57] Wyn Galbraith: Thank you Lindens.
  • [12:57] Latif Khalifa: thanks Alexa, with the usual send off "now go fix the search" :P
  • [12:57] Alexa Linden: thank you again for your knowledge and help
  • [12:57] Morgaine Dinova: Soft: kk. I think we'll just have to wait ... a short period.
  • [12:57] Melfina Marshdevil: btw Phox says LL has been aware of there encoding system.
  • [12:57] Liisa Runo: search and cache
  • [12:57] Jonathan Yap: Alexa, has the OH wiki been updated for that change?
  • [12:57] Alexa Linden: lol thanks Latif <3
  • [12:57] Kri Winsmore: I had someone ask me to relay something here if its ok?
  • [12:58] Alexa Linden: Jonathan, Bambers is going to update his listing
  • [12:58] Alexa Linden: reminded him this morning :)
  • [12:58] Alexa Linden: so thanks for watching out for us ^^
  • [12:58] Jonathan Yap: Thanks--I can't check that page from my location "This site is blocked under the following categories: Dating/Social"
