I'm not sure about international law or if U.S. law counts for SL but a translator told me that translations of a legal document wouldn't count in a process. Only the original document would be relevant. So it might be possible to host translations of the ToS (with an appropriate disclaimer) in the Wiki while the original document stays at http://secondlife.com/corporate/tos.php.

I didn't know that already had tried to put this document in the past, nor had read the SignpostMarv's talk page.

I have spoken on this topic with Lexie and Jon, and Jon told me that he looks good if we post the TOS with a warning like mentioned by SignpostMarv or like that we have already put in the pages: it is a copy or an unofficial translation and have no validity; only the original document is valid, and there's a link to it on the same warning

we all know one thing: there are many residents who do not have a level of English to understand the TOS. according to Jon, if they accepted these conditions, they are already in breach of the license agreement. How we are going to require compliance if they do not have been able to read them? Jon said that the official translations of the TOS should done in a unknow date... What do we do while? a translation, although unofficial, and no validity, is something that they can read and understand.

What I wanted to say in the above posting was: While translations of a legal document seem to not count in a (yet fictional) process anyway, this should give us the chance to publish these translations in the Wiki, since LL woulnd't have to worry about them (imho). I think these translations will be really helpful for the reasons mentioned by eva. So we might need to ensure two things which are:

• An appropriate disclaimer that the translation is an unofficial translation of a legal document with a link to the original.
• That the English parent page (which currently is suggested for deletion) becomes sysop locked and gets a disclaimer where to find the original document as its only content.

I guess this should satisfy Rob's mentioned legal department but we might need to check back...
