Greetings to Hawk. Welcome to the wiki, where we laugh the day away editing and drinking honeyed Euphoria from discarded plastic cups. Now fear not if you know not how to make your vorpal blade go snicker-snack, there are sword-masters abound. Questions may be answered in an untimely fashion but only if they are asked. So draw your sword and fear not, we cannot read minds, we assume ignorance and good intentions but not necessarily in that order and neither are sins. But never mind me, Orion the Bargain Hunter is rising and I think a new episode will be on soon but I must be asleep if I wish to catch it. -- Strife (talk|contribs) 00:09, 10 July 2011 (PDT)

P.S. My whims of lunacy are just window dressings, installed to make a simple handshake into something more mystical and occult. Next week we will teach you the secret handshake and how to spot other members of the tribe, welcome to the wiki.

(o.O)
What did you take and where can I get my share of it?! ^^

It struck me that a simple greeting would just not do. His introduction was reminiscent of humorous ways of speech. I wanted to channel enough insanity to make it interesting but not so much as to obscure the message (In some ways there is more honesty, absurdity is excused by the Wonderlandian theme). But really the first two sentences evolved first, and then I needed a drink... and what is more perfect than the mythical drink from Kelly Link's "Magic For Beginners" (the story is a real favorite of mine, a tv show that watches itself)? The problem is that I can't reference it too heavily without the reader reading it first, so I needed some bit of pop culture insanity to reference, the obvious answer presented it's own problem, Alice has been referenced to death. But Alice can't be used in the closing as it is too main stream and thus sane, so Kelly Link provides. Esthetic insanity needs metaphorical curlicues to work, hence the "discarded plastic cups" and the logic that 'a new episode of a tv show can only be watched when asleep' but this last part suggests a more logical explanation, that the show is nothing but a dream. The reference to reality and the readers victory over absurdity by thinking up the alternate explanation signal an end to the absurdity and the message. -- Strife (talk|contribs) 19:20, 10 July 2011 (PDT)
P.S. I recommend New Buffalo - City & Sea
