Except for the simplest cases though, this will only work with orders of magnitude more scripting capability - 50 to 1000 times more I'd think. Lowering the SL learning curve, grid reliability and guaranteed responsiveness would be key to this and many other corporate applications too. --[[User:Ralph Doctorow|Ralph Doctorow]] 18:24, 27 September 2007 (PDT)

If it were possible to write arbitrarily complex scripts I'd think there'd be a huge market for 3D training courses to produce much more interesting and richer learning environments, not to mention obvious 3D applications like machinery and plant maintenance.

Tree Kyomoon use case proposals.

New page

==Login-less Viewing of Regions==

I (and I am sure others before me) had proposed a login-less grid viewer for example, where interactive/non interactive 3d models and environments within second life could be viewed from a web browser or hardware device without requiring the presence of an avatar. It is my hope that this kind of extensibility will enable developers in world to utilize the grid as a platform for web content that could be embedded in any webpage like videos on youtube or mini apps on facebook. Based on what I saw it seems that this kind of application could be possible.

==Rich Internet Application Development==

I have also made several proposals that would make the grid more rich internet application development capable, such as support for cookies in the llHTTPRequest or similar LSL function, and an object oriented language supporting actual objects and arrays similar to how they are in flash. I think that this will greatly increase the ability for the massive Flash development community to quickly realize their skills in the 3d world of SL, rather than being stuck with 2d in flash for GUI and content/game dev.

==E-Learning==

E-Learning (Web Based Training or WBT) is usually delivered to large corporations via a Learning Management System that serves two purposes, one to limit access to a certain group of people, two to distribute content to those people under a particular schedule or course, and three to track the progress and performance of those people (learners). Literally millions of corporate employees worldwide log into some kind of learning management system every day to take what usually amounts to html based "page turner" courses. I believe that there is a huge market potential to utilize existing LMS reporting and back end user / content management tools that already exist and make much of that content available with vast enhancement on the SL Grid, and feel that cookie support for the llHTTPRequest script is very central to that possiblity, as well as the R.I.A. enhancements described above. SL is very close.
