- [12:02] Alexa Linden: Hi Soft
- [12:02] Soft Linden: Hey hey hey
- [12:02] Squirrel Wood: I got perlin noise working properly ^^
- [12:03] Soft Linden: Cool!
- [12:03] Soft Linden: Should be able to get some pretty cool, organic landscapes out of that
- [12:03] Alexa Linden: amazing
- [12:04] Soft Linden: Alexa, I forgot to ask - ever been to Raglan Shire?
- [12:04] Aric Linden: what's perlin noice?
- [12:04] Alexa Linden: no
- [12:04] Alexa Linden: worth visiting?
- [12:04] Soft Linden: Raglan Shire's a region with tons of shops for tinies. Outfits, gestures, animations, etc - you might find a few fun things
- [12:04] Alexa Linden: oooh!
- [12:04] Alexa Linden: thank you :)
- [12:05] Squirrel Wood: Perlin noise is a procedural texture primitive used by visual effects artists to increase the appearance of realism in computer graphics.
- [12:05] Soft Linden: Perlin noise is a fractal algorithm for generating continous patterns that's got characteristics that are great for things like wood grains, clouds, rocks, etc depending on the parameters.
- [12:05] Soft Linden: Ya, like Squirrel say
- [12:05] Aric Linden: nice
- [12:05] Aric Linden: i did fractal music stuff in grad school. but that was pre graphics
- [12:05] Aric Linden: mostl y
- [12:05] Aric Linden: anyway, let's start
- [12:06] Soft Linden: I wonder at whether we shouldn't include perlin noise texture generation in the viewer. It's a great way to get lots of detail with very little data transmission
- [12:06] Alexa Linden: SVC-1032 - Votes: 11 - Age Verification status shows in profile - WarKirby Magojiro
- [12:06] Alexa Linden: as of last Thursday's triage
- [12:06] Alexa Linden: bridie is waiting to here who on that team can attend a traige
- [12:06] Soft Linden: There we go - https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage/Monday_Agenda
- [12:07] Alexa Linden: to handle all age verification pjiras
- [12:07] Squirrel Wood: my verification finally passed ^^
- [12:07] Soft Linden: SVC-1032 should go to Robin for comment at least, I think.
- [12:07] Soft Linden: I sure thought Robin promised that data wouldn't be directly revealed
- [12:08] Bridie Linden: Sorry I'm late!
- [12:08] Aric Linden: sorry. got pinged irl
- [12:08] Alexa Linden: so do we want to import
- [12:08] Aric Linden: I agree soft.
- [12:09] Alexa Linden: and assign to robin
- [12:09] Aric Linden: yes, alexa, please import and ask robin for comment.
- [12:09] Bridie Linden: which #?
- [12:09] Soft Linden: Jimmy Linden at the bottom says this will be fixed, but it's not imported, so ya
- [12:09] Alexa Linden: SVC-1032 - Votes: 11 - Age Verification status shows in profile - WarKirby Magojiro
- [12:09] Soft Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-1032
- [12:09] Bridie Linden: I think we can link to existing issue...jas
- [12:09] Aric Linden: SVC-1072
- [12:09] Alexa Linden: Havok 4 -- Objects can exist up to 4096 meters up, but scripted rez above 1024 meters fails silently - Jcool410 Wildcat
- [12:10] Soft Linden: Andrew said 1024 was the new cap for havok4, so objects remaining above that sounds like a bug. This could probably go straight to him, or at least the havok team
- [12:10] Squirrel Wood: with havok 1 you can rez items up to 4096m
- [12:11] Squirrel Wood: anything nonphys above 768 is corrected to 768m when moved
- [12:11] Aric Linden: it should go to the havok team. please import and assign to joel
- [12:11] Aric Linden: they have a sort of interesting internal process
- [12:11] Bridie Linden: alexa, I'll link svc-1032 to DEV-7422
- [12:12] Aric Linden: heya gigs
- [12:12] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:12] Aric Linden: VWR-3655 is next
- [12:12] Soft Linden: VWR-3655 is a 10 second no-brainer. I can take that directly if you want.
- [12:12] Aric Linden: as you wish dude,
- [12:12] Soft Linden: It's a Visual Studio syntax that isn't really legal. No risk fixy
- [12:13] Alexa Linden: lol
- [12:13] Aric Linden: VWR-3813 is next
- [12:13] Aric Linden: loves it when we blast through this stuff
- [12:13] Wyn Galbraith: Nevermnd
- [12:13] Soft Linden: VWR-3813 is also a super quickie. Adding a const like that is always safe.
- [12:14] Soft Linden: I can take that too if you like
- [12:14] Aric Linden: ok
- [12:14] Aric Linden: thanks soft
- [12:14] Wyn Galbraith: Oh that's cool.
- [12:14] Aric Linden: VWR-3835
- [12:15] Aric Linden: I'd like to run this by RX before implementing
- [12:15] Soft Linden: The patch on VWR-3835 looks okay - but Rx should probably say if we want the extra pie menu here. That one's kinda cluttered!
- [12:15] Soft Linden: Ya.
- [12:15] Alexa Linden: importing - Rx
- [12:15] Aric Linden: Alexa, please import and ask the RX folks to weigh in.
- [12:16] Aric Linden: /VWR-3416
- [12:16] Squirrel Wood: some bad physics objects in the sim :(
- [12:16] Gigs Taggart: 3835 I requested John put in Jira, it's a very old patch
- [12:16] Gigs Taggart: but it would come in very handy
- [12:17] Aric Linden: I think we should take this and pass it to the windlight folks for vetteting
- [12:17] Aric Linden: vetteing
- [12:17] Aric Linden: anyone else?
- [12:17] Soft Linden: Yeah, I'd take that in
- [12:17] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:17] Aric Linden: I think there's enough info here for pastrami and runitai to start with
- [12:17] Squirrel Wood: ctrl-alt-shift-t works for rezzed objects
- [12:18] Squirrel Wood: when view admin options is checked
- [12:18] Aric Linden: SVC-961
- [12:18] Harleen Gretzky: That is for textures only
- [12:18] Aric Linden: looks as though 961 is already assigned
- [12:18] Soft Linden: 961 looks like an import for Joel. You shouldn't be able to walk up steep/vertical grades
- [12:19] Soft Linden: Yeah, but not imported. Those get lost a *lot*
- [12:19] Aric Linden: yes. I'm wondering if andrew self assigned or not
- [12:19] Soft Linden: Ha - good question :)
- [12:19] Soft Linden: Yeah, he did
- [12:19] Gigs Taggart: I have background on 961
- [12:19] Aric Linden: either way, let's take it and assign it to andrew
- [12:19] Aric Linden: looks at gigs
- [12:19] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:19] Gigs Taggart: andrew asked about it on IRC way back before havok was released :P
- [12:19] Soft Linden: 961 will be chaos once all the bumper cars and jet skis escape!
- [12:20] Aric Linden: hehe
- [12:20] Gigs Taggart: he said QA already had pinged him on it
- [12:20] Wyn Galbraith: That's the fly feature.
- [12:20] Gigs Taggart: we all said we were ok with it...
- [12:20] Aric Linden: I'm sure Dan had found it. either way, let's take it and give it to andrew
- [12:20] Aric Linden: WEB-406
- [12:20] Gigs Taggart: it only affects avatars Soft
- [12:20] Soft Linden: Gotcha
- [12:21] Soft Linden: 406 - would be nice to have a specific example - screenshot showing a case of this, perhaps
- [12:21] Aric Linden: I agree
- [12:21] Aric Linden: could we resolve "get more info"
- [12:21] Alexa Linden: yup
- [12:21] Alexa Linden: and will ask for pics
- [12:22] Aric Linden: WEB-309
- [12:22] Aric Linden: I'm not sure this is a bug
- [12:22] Gigs Taggart: I am
- [12:22] Gigs Taggart: You can feed CSV to a Windows user and it opens just fine in Excel or anything else
- [12:23] Gigs Taggart: there's no reason for SL to be generating XLS
- [12:23] Squirrel Wood: This feature request is about an OSX programme that is struggling to convert a very simple xls file.
- [12:23] Gigs Taggart: just send the right mime type to IE and it opens in Excel automatically
- [12:24] Squirrel Wood: csv may cause problems though as german people write 1,25 where us people write 1.25
- [12:24] Soft Linden: But iWorks supports the CSV format?
- [12:24] Soft Linden: Oh
- [12:24] Aric Linden: I'm not sure that the iWorks 08 implementation is up to date with our output.
- [12:24] Aric Linden: Gigs is right, changing mime ought to simply work
- [12:24] Gigs Taggart: squirrel you just quote it properly
- [12:25] Gigs Taggart: generating CSV is trivial compared to trying to make XLS right!
- [12:25] Soft Linden: Maybe it's worth checking for an updated version of the library we export with - but sounds low priority unless it gets more votes?
- [12:25] Alexa Linden: last triaged date and leave as-is?
- [12:26] Aric Linden: I'd also add gigs' comment re mime type. that definitely should be a reasonable workaround
- [12:26] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:26] Aric Linden: VWR-3627
- [12:26] Squirrel Wood: [1]
- [12:26] Snake Dawes: greetings all
- [12:26] Squirrel Wood: according to apple it can use xls files
- [12:26] Gigs Taggart: there's already comments about just using CSV instead, what I meant with mime type is just send it as a CSV mime type and not text so the browser knows it's not text
- [12:26] Alexa Linden: Hi Snake :)
- [12:27] Aric Linden: I'm not sure that VWR-3627 has enough information to really be useful
- [12:27] Aric Linden: soft?
- [12:27] Snake Dawes: hey
- [12:27] Snake Dawes: may i stay here?
- [12:27] Aric Linden: do you think there's enough stuff here?
- [12:27] Aric Linden: Snake, please do
- [12:27] Soft Linden: Well, an example of how it fails and all would be helpful. But really - any Linden with a newer Mac would have an iWorks trial on it. They could test this quickly.
- [12:27] Alexa Linden: sure!
- [12:27] Squirrel Wood: 3627 is most likely outdated drivers
- [12:27] Aric Linden: we're triaging bugs
- [12:27] Soft Linden: Oh - we moved on
- [12:27] Soft Linden: I'm still talking about 309 :)
- [12:28] Aric Linden: the bug says he has uptodate drivers
- [12:28] Gigs Taggart: Soft: that ignores the root problem of using a proprietary format unnecessarily
- [12:28] Snake Dawes: i need more function
- [12:28] Snake Dawes: im a scripter
- [12:28] Snake Dawes: lol
- [12:28] Gigs Taggart: Snake this is a bug triage
- [12:29] Aric Linden: alexa, let's take this and assign it to me for repro
- [12:29] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:29] Gigs Taggart: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_Triage/2007-12-17
- [12:29] Soft Linden: Gigs - I was going to point to the single vote count, even apart from that. A Linden would have a hard time justifying to much time on it with only one vote like that
- [12:29] Squirrel Wood: there's one major bug with LSL: It has not enough functions ^^
- [12:29] Aric Linden: VWR-3521
- [12:29] Aric Linden: is next.
- [12:29] Gigs Taggart: Soft: doing the right thing for long term maintainability shouldn't require popularity
- [12:29] Soft Linden: Yeah... needs more info or maybe go to support on 3627. They can encourage him to update drivers, reinstall, or check that card
- [12:30] Snake Dawes: lol
- [12:30] Snake Dawes: ic
- [12:30] Soft Linden: Definitely not a widespread problem.
- [12:30] Aric Linden: let's take VWR-3521 and assign it to pastrami. I hope he enjoys the comments.
- [12:30] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:30] Aric Linden: nothing like positivity to encourage folks to jump in and resolve stuff
- [12:30] Wyn Galbraith: Thanks, now I'm hungry.
- [12:31] Alexa Linden: lol
- [12:31] Gigs Taggart: hehe that is a strange horizon
- [12:31] Aric Linden: VWR-3514 is next
- [12:31] Soft Linden: Ha - yeah. :)
- [12:31] Squirrel Wood: definitely needs mor einfo
- [12:31] Squirrel Wood: what drivers? what gfx card?
- [12:32] Bridie Linden: nVidia GeForce Go 6150 graphics card
- [12:32] Aric Linden: and what version? he's got two different strings going
- [12:32] Aric Linden: he says release candidate and windlight both
- [12:32] Alexa Linden: lol
- [12:32] Wyn Galbraith: Looks like the rolling horizons again.
- [12:32] Aric Linden: I'm assuming windlight, but, erm....
- [12:32] Bridie Linden: nods
- [12:32] Aric Linden: Let's ask for some clarification here
- [12:32] Alexa Linden: nmi?
- [12:32] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:33] Soft Linden: This looks like it has to be windlight, if he's referring to the 'medium' quality setting
- [12:33] Soft Linden: screenshot names also all mention windlight
- [12:33] Aric Linden: VWR-3523
- [12:33] Gigs Taggart: 3523 is probably a region setting in the region he was in
- [12:34] Gigs Taggart: i.e. the region he was in had low water
- [12:34] Soft Linden: 3514 looks like enough info to give to the windlight guys to me
- [12:34] Gigs Taggart: which makes the fake water look too high
- [12:34] Wyn Galbraith: There is some strangeness with windlight, high altitude and the ground
- [12:35] Aric Linden: ok. let's take this one and pass it to pastrami
- [12:35] Gigs Taggart: 3523?
- [12:35] Gigs Taggart: 3523 sounds like not a bug
- [12:35] Gigs Taggart: if anything it needs more info
- [12:35] Wyn Galbraith: No images.
- [12:35] Aric Linden: Sorry Gigs, I meant 3514
- [12:36] Alexa Linden: so for 3523, not a bug?
- [12:36] Gigs Taggart: I don't know, like I said it depends on if the water in the "ocean" is actually rendering higher than 20 meters for him or not
- [12:36] Aric Linden: I think we should ask for a region and possibly images for 3523
- [12:36] Gigs Taggart: if he's in a region with 1 meter water the ocean will look high
- [12:36] Soft Linden: 3523 - would be nice to have example screenshots at least. "high" and "crap" are such subjective terms
- [12:37] Alexa Linden: noted
- [12:37] Aric Linden: knowing which region will help pin this down
- [12:37] Aric Linden: grins at soft
- [12:37] Aric Linden: you think?
- [12:37] Squirrel Wood: if the surrounding regions have different water levels it looks kinda odd
- [12:37] Aric Linden: VWR-3522 is next
- [12:37] Soft Linden: Bao assigned himself 3522, needs to import
- [12:37] Soft Linden: If this is really happening, that's a sweet find!
- [12:37] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:37] Aric Linden: ok
- [12:38] Aric Linden: Milo had been playing with this, trying to figure out where the leak was
- [12:38] Aric Linden: let's take it and assign it to Bao. Please make pastrami a watcher
- [12:38] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:38] Aric Linden: VWR-3373 is next
- [12:38] Aric Linden: this one seems odd
- [12:38] Soft Linden: Bao assigned himself 3373 too - hungry for bugs! Also needs import if he's really taking it
- [12:39] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:39] Aric Linden: wow. this one seems really obnoxious
- [12:39] Gigs Taggart: grr more bmps
- [12:40] Gigs Taggart: someone please merge my save snapshot as jpeg patch :P
- [12:40] Aric Linden: please import and assign to me. I'd like to get a step by step repro into the issue
- [12:40] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:41] Aric Linden: VWR-3118is up
- [12:41] Aric Linden: Gigs, you'll be happy, more bmps
- [12:41] Squirrel Wood: assigned to bao
- [12:41] Gigs Taggart: yeah I was looking at 3118
- [12:41] Gigs Taggart: I can't tell what they mean from the snapshots really
- [12:42] Gigs Taggart: but it sounds like it's a real problem
- [12:42] Kerry Giha: It happens on my ATI X-600 Card
- [12:43] Aric Linden: i'm wondering if it's still an issue. this is a month old
- [12:43] Kerry Giha: If bump and shinny off then objects will not become transparent
- [12:43] Gigs Taggart: it does feel like a dupe
- [12:43] Kerry Giha: It still isn't working
- [12:43] Gigs Taggart: ok
- [12:43] Aric Linden: ok. thanks
- [12:43] Soft Linden: I look at the 3118 screenshots, and I can't help thinking how much time that outfit must add to a restroom stop
- [12:43] Gigs Taggart: hehe
- [12:43] Aric Linden: let's take it
- [12:43] Alexa Linden: lol
- [12:43] Aric Linden: lol
- [12:43] Wyn Galbraith: LOL
- [12:43] Aric Linden: please add that to the notes, alexa
- [12:44] Alexa Linden: hahahahaha
- [12:44] Aric Linden: it's important information
- [12:44] Wyn Galbraith: I was thinking the same thing.
- [12:44] Aric Linden: I'm sure pastrami will want to know this
- [12:44] Alexa Linden: noted
- [12:44] Aric Linden: SVC-1030
- [12:45] Squirrel Wood: particle scripts may need to be reset in such a case
- [12:46] Aric Linden: I'm wondering if it would help to see the scripts
- [12:46] Aric Linden: anyone?
- [12:46] Soft Linden: A very very common problem is people who have static particle system - like TV screens done as a particle so they always face the viewer - that spawn particles in the same spot really really quickly. So you have a billion particles on screen but don't realize it.
- [12:46] Boroondas Gupte: What about the eyes?
- [12:46] Soft Linden: There's a good chance it's just a content issue there
- [12:46] Squirrel Wood: from what I have heard a particle script that keeps running (not restarting the particle system) will emit less and less particles over time
- [12:46] Gigs Taggart: 1030 might be just particle contention caused by hidden sources that the user can't see.
- [12:47] Soft Linden: We could ask our contractor to have a quick look at this. He's already got a particle system browser working.
- [12:47] Boroondas Gupte: oops, sorry was at wrong issue
- [12:47] Aric Linden: how can we get the user to try that? suggest a script restart?
- [12:47] Gigs Taggart: there was a lot of talk on SLDEV about reworking the particle limits
- [12:47] Aric Linden: nods
- [12:47] Alexa Linden: I will post that question
- [12:47] Wyn Galbraith: Like the particle system runs out of gas, Squirrel.
- [12:47] Aric Linden: I think we'd want the scripts
- [12:47] Squirrel Wood: yes.
- [12:47] Soft Linden: If you want to assign SVC-1030 to me, I'll pass it on to the contractor and ask him to just look for 10 minutes
- [12:47] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:47] Aric Linden: ok
- [12:48] Aric Linden: /VWR-3630
- [12:48] Jasmine Au: escuse me but did u already do E6740?
- [12:48] Jasmine Au: im new at this
- [12:48] Squirrel Wood: 3630... I get invisible avatars a lot with the windlight viewer
- [12:48] Wyn Galbraith: Oh that's what was happening!
- [12:48] Soft Linden: Anyone here running Windlight? Is this consistent?
- [12:49] Gigs Taggart: jasmine that's not a valid number
- [12:49] Squirrel Wood: yes.
- [12:49] Jasmine Au: ah ok ty
- [12:49] Squirrel Wood: avatars become visible when sitting down or standing up
- [12:49] Harleen Gretzky: I get it a lot also, especially at high altitudes
- [12:49] Wyn Galbraith: My desktop died, so I'm back on the unsported laptop while I wait for a new system.
- [12:50] Aric Linden: I'll take this one and see if I can have QA provide some clearer and more direct repro steps
- [12:50] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:50] Wyn Galbraith: *unsupported
- [12:51] Aric Linden: SVC-976
- [12:51] Gigs Taggart: 976 seems to be the normal "crash 1 minute after login" bug that everyone seems to get
- [12:51] Gigs Taggart: it's been reported about 10 times on jira
- [12:51] Soft Linden: Geforce 4 MX!
- [12:52] Aric Linden: nods
- [12:52] Aric Linden: just what i was gonna comment
- [12:52] Squirrel Wood: suggestion: Upgrade video card.
- [12:52] Soft Linden: I guess that was only 5-6 years ago. But that's like - 100 in dog years.
- [12:52] Snake Dawes: i have a problem about llSetRot()
- [12:52] Gigs Taggart: snake we are only doing bugs in jira
- [12:53] Aric Linden: The other reporters don't provide enough info
- [12:53] Snake Dawes: yes,i think its a bug
- [12:53] Soft Linden: Snake - give [2] a look - you can enter details about the bug there. Then people comment or vote and we discuss tehm and those extra details here.
- [12:53] Aric Linden: I think we need to suggest a new card for the initial logger and then ask for more info from the others
- [12:53] Snake Dawes: it not work well when llSetRot() ZERO
- [12:54] Gigs Taggart: might it be time to update the official requirements?
- [12:54] Aric Linden: ISVC-872
- [12:54] Aric Linden: gigs, we just did so about 5 weeks ago
- [12:54] Gigs Taggart: orly
- [12:54] Soft Linden: Snake - look at ZERO_ROTATION not jsut a zero vector. That's a common mistake.
- [12:55] Aric Linden: Let's take SVC-872 and assign it to triage. i'm pretty sure it's not a havok issue
- [12:55] Alexa Linden: ok
- [12:55] Aric Linden: nods at gigs
- [12:55] Aric Linden: it was an exciting time for all
- [12:55] Aric Linden: VWR-3633
- [12:55] Gigs Taggart: ew you left non-SSE capable CPUs in :(
- [12:56] Aric Linden: 'tweren't up to me
- [12:56] Aric Linden: I had input only on the vista stuff
- [12:56] Squirrel Wood: SL will run on 486s at 3600 seconds per frame or so :p
- [12:56] Aric Linden: alexa, let's take VWR-3633
- [12:57] Aric Linden: There's so much stuff about the imposters this week that I suspect more info will be helpful to runitai
- [12:57] Gigs Taggart: is this the same as the invisible avatar one we did three bugs ago?
- [12:57] Squirrel Wood: they may be related?
- [12:57] Aric Linden: /VWR-3536
- [12:57] Wyn Galbraith: thinks so.
- [12:57] Aric Linden: I think they are
- [12:57] Soft Linden: 3536 is a feature request, not a bug
- [12:57] Aric Linden: I just figure runitai will like having more stuff
- [12:58] Harleen Gretzky: no, the invisible avatars are not impostors
- [12:58] Alexa Linden: noted
- [12:58] Aric Linden: agreed
- [12:58] Soft Linden: 3536 should probably be held for votes (though I'm adding one :)
- [12:58] Bridie Linden: nods
- [12:58] Alexa Linden: Hi Zee :D
- [12:58] Aric Linden: soft, you want to just pass it to rx?

- [12:59] Soft Linden: The feature it names is really handy for griefer cleanup/renter management, and it's frustrating to use when it cleans out on its own
- [12:59] Alexa Linden: again, we had a stellar day and covered 22 Pjiras!
- [12:59] Rob Linden: Zee, just wrapping up this meeting: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage/Monday_Agenda
