The easiest method is what I do: use different 3rd party viewers for each of your SL characters (yes, I am strange). If I wanted, I could just use candybar to customize their icons with the associated character's pic.
Another option (but I would need to work out the details). Possibly drag a script to the dock, each with a single-liner calling SL with your login credentials? [I have done that for multiple accounts before, it works] Then using something for a custom dock icon in each instance? That would leave you with both the script icons (with tooltips) and the dock icons - inefficient, but the script icons would be on the right of the dock's divider and SL on the left.[[User:Kara Spengler|Kara Spengler]] 18:30, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Post v1.20 - does the multiple option require two dashes, or does just one work as well? TaraLi Jie 03:59, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
- A single dash still works for me on Windows and Mac but have heard problems from some people who claimed two did the trick — I need more information to confirm this. - Torley on 2009-09-29 @ 4:29 PM PST
Distinguishing Multiple SL Instances when Task-Switching
Thanks to the Running Multiple Viewers page, I'm running up to four actor alts at once on a MacBook Pro, but switching between them is a bit hit-&-miss, because both the Dock and cmd+tab switching show four identical items: white-on-grey SL logo icons each called "Second Life":
What would be really useful would be, for instance, something like this:
I imagine these SL instances would be launched by double-clicking a similar item in the Finder, eg: called "SL - Samara Karfield" with a portrait icon, which would remember only that particular instance's login details.
Might there be a quick-n-dirty workaround to achieve some of this, ahead of it being made so by Linden coding experts?

2 Instances of SL Voice not working
I'm trying to run 2 viewers for the purposes of broadcasting, so I do need SL Voice enabled on both viewers, my PC handles 2 SL's running great, but I can't seem to get the 2nd viewer to enable voice. Is there anyone out there with a solution?
Multiple viewers running concurrently.
I too am having an issue with running two SL viewers at the same time. Mind you I'm running the newer SL viewer 2. All instances are closed down when the multiple is added. Big fan of yours Torley, keep up the good work!!
