The unit of trade in Second Life is called the Linden Dollar or L$. Residents use Linden Dollars to pay for goods and services provided by other Residents. Linden Dollar's can be purchased most easily using Paypal, Mastercard and Visa on the LindeX.  The [https://www.secondlife.com/currency/buy.php LindeX] is the official virtual exchange of Second Life and is run by Linden Lab.  Buyers will usually be able to buy approximately L$ 260 for each $1 plus a $0.30 fee.
 
If you do not have Paypal or a major U.S. credit card account in USD, there are a number of L$ resellers.  This site will connect you with a reseller supporting the currency and payment system most convenient to you.  The 3rd party exchanges on this list are working with us to keep our residents safe by using our [http://secondlifegrid.net/programs/api/risk Exchange Risk API].
