Rebaking your avatar's textures is a workaround to resolve common problems with your avatar's appearance, including parts from the Second Life user interface or even other programs appearing on your avatar's body and clothes. Other times, your avatar may be covered in glitchy stripes, appear totally black, and soforth. These defects are visible to other people, and rebaking is a good first step on the troubleshooting path.
- First, open the unsupported Advanced menu, which has lots of useful but technical features we can't guarantee to function — yet rebaking has been beneficial for many Residents so far.
- Select Advanced > Character > Rebake Textures.
Wait a few seconds and see if that makes a difference. Rebaking can't compensate for more serious faults, such as a graphics card failure. In some cases, there may be a bug which should be reported on the Issue Tracker.
