Agenda

  • [2009/05/28 2:36] Louise Linden: First up we have https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-13638
  • [2009/05/28 2:36] Louise Linden: Using CTL + ~ to save snapshot to disk produces incorrect camera view
  • [2009/05/28 2:37] Arabella Steadham: my friend has this issue
  • [2009/05/28 2:37] Davy Linden: I think this is the same issue as VWR-13630 which is lower down the list
  • [2009/05/28 2:37] Arabella Steadham: ah
  • [2009/05/28 2:37] Davy Linden: shall we look at both now?
  • [2009/05/28 2:37] Arabella Steadham: may as well
  • [2009/05/28 2:37] Arabella Steadham: kill off two at once
  • [2009/05/28 2:38] Louise Linden: yup
  • [2009/05/28 2:38] Arabella Steadham: hi there :)
  • [2009/05/28 2:38] DMC Zsigmond: hey
  • [2009/05/28 2:38] Sebastean Steamweaver: WElcome back DMC
  • [2009/05/28 2:38] Davy Linden: it repros for me. import?
  • [2009/05/28 2:38] Morgaine Dinova: So is the actual bug that there's an unexpected movement? Because there are tons of unexpected/unwanted movements thrown in for free in the viewer.
  • [2009/05/28 2:39] DMC Zsigmond: thank you Sebastean ;)
  • [2009/05/28 2:39] Morgaine Dinova: Hi DMC
  • [2009/05/28 2:39] Louise Linden: it seems that way
  • [2009/05/28 2:39] Davy Linden: if you have high-res enabled, it doesn't take a napshot of the whole screen, just the lower left
  • [2009/05/28 2:39] Arabella Steadham: its a bugger for photographers
  • [2009/05/28 2:40] Morgaine Dinova: Ah, that's different then, could be someone through in a free res change.
  • [2009/05/28 2:40] Morgaine Dinova: threw*
  • [2009/05/28 2:40] Lares Carter: heya everyone :)
  • [2009/05/28 2:40] Morgaine Dinova: Hi Lares
  • [2009/05/28 2:40] Davy Linden: hi lares
  • [2009/05/28 2:40] Sebastean Steamweaver: If I miss anyone as they arrive, half of my screen is in a script, so I apologize.
  • [2009/05/28 2:40] Sebastean Steamweaver: Hi Lares :)
  • [2009/05/28 2:40] Davy Linden: I'll see which i better to import and mark the other as duplicate
  • [2009/05/28 2:41] Louise Linden: yup sounds lijke a good plan
  • [2009/05/28 2:41] Louise Linden: *like
  • [2009/05/28 2:41] Arabella Steadham: excellent :)
  • [2009/05/28 2:42] Louise Linden: the next one on the agenda aslo seems to be a similar issue
  • [2009/05/28 2:42] Louise Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-13639
  • [2009/05/28 2:42] Morgaine Dinova: Does "import" mean adding to the LL internal Jira? I've meant to ask that for months :P
  • [2009/05/28 2:42] Davy Linden: yes
  • [2009/05/28 2:42] Davy Linden: details get copied across
  • [2009/05/28 2:42] Morgaine Dinova: KK. So it doesn't imply task assignment.
  • [2009/05/28 2:43] Louise Linden: how do you mean task assignment?
  • [2009/05/28 2:43] Morgaine Dinova: Doesn't actually mean that it WILL be picked up and fixed.
  • [2009/05/28 2:43] Louise Linden: it means that it will actually get investigated by us
  • [2009/05/28 2:43] Morgaine Dinova: Or does *everything* in the internal Jira get resolved?
  • [2009/05/28 2:44] Morgaine Dinova: Aha. Thanks
  • [2009/05/28 2:44] Louise Linden: ok so 13639
  • [2009/05/28 2:44] Davy Linden: definitely looks related to previous ones
  • [2009/05/28 2:44] Arabella Steadham: yes
  • [2009/05/28 2:44] Louise Linden: looks like it could be the same at the first, so we add it to the others one to investigate
  • [2009/05/28 2:45] Davy Linden: ok
  • [2009/05/28 2:45] Louise Linden: and make as dupe if necessary
  • [2009/05/28 2:45] Louise Linden: so next up https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-13614
  • [2009/05/28 2:45] Louise Linden: Removal of IM msgs from windowed local chat a pain
  • [2009/05/28 2:45] Al Sonic: In using the JIRA I encountered a bit of confusion as to what issues show up in the list given from browsing to VWR Open Issues, 1.23 Release Candidate. I filed something for said category but it doesn't appear there.
  • [2009/05/28 2:45] DMC Zsigmond: Can confirm this issue on Nvidia 9800 GX2
  • [2009/05/28 2:45] Al Sonic: <.< answer that whenever.
  • [2009/05/28 2:46] Louise Linden: Al: we'll answer that at the end if thats ok
  • [2009/05/28 2:46] Al Sonic: okie.
  • [2009/05/28 2:47] Louise Linden: davy do you know if this was an intentional change?
  • [2009/05/28 2:48] Davy Linden: I think it was
  • [2009/05/28 2:48] Davy Linden: but I see a lot of complaints about it
  • [2009/05/28 2:48] Louise Linden: shall we import and look into it more?
  • [2009/05/28 2:48] Larissa Vacano: Hello, sorry for being to late. I dont know if we can talk about 13316 later too? I filed that and i dont know if there is a solution for that in progress. I asked Quarl for it, but he did not answer my IM. Maybe he was busy. :-)
  • [2009/05/28 2:49] Morgaine Dinova: Does appear to be, yes, but it went only half way. So either revert or do the whole job and add a second tickbox.
  • [2009/05/28 2:49] Dera Kit: txs for letting me sit on this.. got to run to a meeting.
  • [2009/05/28 2:50] Morgaine Dinova: Hi Dera :-)
  • [2009/05/28 2:50] Sebastean Steamweaver: Take care Dera :)
  • [2009/05/28 2:50] Louise Linden: bye dera!
  • [2009/05/28 2:50] Lares Carter: yes i think it should have 2 checkboxes then
  • [2009/05/28 2:51] Louise Linden: OK Davy, import this one and we'll go take a look.
  • [2009/05/28 2:51] Davy Linden: ok
  • [2009/05/28 2:51] DMC Zsigmond: I have a question, but I'm not sure whether you have covered it in the Jira or Triage?
  • [2009/05/28 2:52] Louise Linden: [1] is todays agenda
  • [2009/05/28 2:53] Louise Linden: next up is https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-13691
  • [2009/05/28 2:53] Louise Linden: Show Hidden Selection is always on
  • [2009/05/28 2:53] Sebastean Steamweaver: I haven't experienced that issue
  • [2009/05/28 2:54] Davy Linden: it appears the default is "Show hidden selection", but turning it off works for me
  • [2009/05/28 2:55] Davy Linden: though I'm on a later client than the RC
  • [2009/05/28 2:55] Sebastean Steamweaver: True, I'm using the nightly viewer.
  • [2009/05/28 2:55] Lares Carter: works fine with 1.23.3 (121709)
  • [2009/05/28 2:56] Davy Linden: NMI?
  • [2009/05/28 2:56] Morgaine Dinova: Being on 1.22.11, I don't even have the debug setting, so this seems to report on new functionality not being right.
  • [2009/05/28 2:56] Louise Linden: I think so, see if anyone else is seeing it, could be hardware specific
  • [2009/05/28 2:57] Sebastean Steamweaver: I have another friend who uses it frequently in his builds, and he never reported having issues with it.
  • [2009/05/28 2:57] Davy Linden: does 1.22 have the option in Tools menu?
  • [2009/05/28 2:57] Sebastean Steamweaver: In the advanced menu, I think.
  • [2009/05/28 2:57] Morgaine Dinova: Ah, I may have misread. It's the RenderHidden.... option that is a debug setting
  • [2009/05/28 2:58] Sebastean Steamweaver: Advanced >Rendering> Hide Selected
  • [2009/05/28 2:58] Morgaine Dinova: Yeah, SHow Hidden Selection is in Tools menu
  • [2009/05/28 2:58] Davy Linden: sebastean, that's not the same option
  • [2009/05/28 2:58] Sebastean Steamweaver: Ah, right, I just realized that.
  • [2009/05/28 2:58] Sebastean Steamweaver: I had scrolled up to check, my bad :P
  • [2009/05/28 2:59] Morgaine Dinova: OK, so it is present as described in 1.22.11
  • [2009/05/28 3:00] Sebastean Steamweaver: It seems to be fixed in the 1.23.3 nightly.
  • [2009/05/28 3:00] Davy Linden: can anyone reproduce the problem?
  • [2009/05/28 3:01] Sebastean Steamweaver: I just tried, but no.
  • [2009/05/28 3:01] Sebastean Steamweaver: Then again, I'm not sure what steps the person who filed the JIRA did to produce it.
  • [2009/05/28 3:01] Sebastean Steamweaver: It might be a race condition.
  • [2009/05/28 3:01] Sebastean Steamweaver: (for non-programmers, that's an entirely technical term)
  • [2009/05/28 3:01] Louise Linden: Shall we go with NMI and ask the reporter to check in a later build?
  • [2009/05/28 3:01] Davy Linden: yep
  • [2009/05/28 3:01] Arabella Steadham: sounds like a plan
  • [2009/05/28 3:02] Morgaine Dinova: Yes NMI --- he should say whether it's just the menu label that stays marked on, or if the action stays on but menu entry changes, or both, or what.
  • [2009/05/28 3:02] Louise Linden: next up is: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-13524
  • [2009/05/28 3:02] Louise Linden: Moon is incredibly large in 1.23 RC
  • [2009/05/28 3:02] Davy Linden: I'll ask some questions
  • [2009/05/28 3:02] Sebastean Steamweaver: gets out a mandolin and starts playing as he sings, "Harvest moooooon...."
  • [2009/05/28 3:02] Louise Linden: cool thanks Davy
  • [2009/05/28 3:03] Davy Linden: moon problem is known - already in internal jira
  • [2009/05/28 3:03] Morgaine Dinova: Pity that Moon isn't here today, she'd love that Jira :-)
  • [2009/05/28 3:03] Sebastean Steamweaver: In 1.23.3, it seems to be its normal size.
  • [2009/05/28 3:03] Davy Linden: and already fixed for next RC i believe
  • [2009/05/28 3:03] Davy Linden: I'll link the issues
  • [2009/05/28 3:03] Louise Linden: thanks davy. was just typing that!!
  • [2009/05/28 3:03] Davy Linden: hehe
  • [2009/05/28 3:04] Louise Linden: next is https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-13490
  • [2009/05/28 3:04] Louise Linden: Font readability in RC
  • [2009/05/28 3:04] Louise Linden: we triaged this one last week,
  • [2009/05/28 3:04] Davy Linden: we saw this last week and asked fr more info
  • [2009/05/28 3:04] Louise Linden: we got a little more
  • [2009/05/28 3:05] Sebastean Steamweaver: That appears to be system-specific at least
  • [2009/05/28 3:05] Sebastean Steamweaver: The text in my notecards appears nothing like that in the screenshots.
  • [2009/05/28 3:05] Lares Carter: i dont like the new font for the script window
  • [2009/05/28 3:06] Louise Linden: OK I think we'll import this one, but also ask for the fuyll system spec
  • [2009/05/28 3:06] Louise Linden: *full
  • [2009/05/28 3:07] Louise Linden: as the second report only contains part spec
  • [2009/05/28 3:07] Sebastean Steamweaver: It's almost as if they had "bold" turned on in their notecard, which is impossible of course.
  • [2009/05/28 3:09] Louise Linden: next is https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-13170
  • [2009/05/28 3:09] Louise Linden: IMs don't ding or show up across my screen without im window open
  • [2009/05/28 3:09] Davy Linden: related to VWR-13614
  • [2009/05/28 3:09] Davy Linden: but I think th soud is a separate issue
  • [2009/05/28 3:09] Davy Linden: sound*
  • [2009/05/28 3:09] Morgaine Dinova: This seems to be changed functionality at the server end, since it happens even in 1.22.11 now.
  • [2009/05/28 3:10] Larissa Vacano: i had the same problem but only sometimes no "ding ding"
  • [2009/05/28 3:10] Arabella Steadham: I miss the dinging
  • [2009/05/28 3:10] Sebastean Steamweaver: There's almost never a time I don't have my IM window open, so I haven't been able to test that.
  • [2009/05/28 3:10] Morgaine Dinova: For instance, I spent all day without a single message from Caledon yesterday, despite there having been many hundreds or thousands of lines spoken.
  • [2009/05/28 3:10] Sebastean Steamweaver: can't verify that*
  • [2009/05/28 3:11] Louise Linden: ok we'll import and go and take a look
  • [2009/05/28 3:11] DMC Zsigmond: yes, appears working here
  • [2009/05/28 3:11] Sebastean Steamweaver: People ask for a way to mute group IMs, and we get it in the form of a bug lol
  • [2009/05/28 3:11] Larissa Vacano:  :-)
  • [2009/05/28 3:11] Morgaine Dinova: I suppose it's possible that this is just the group IM bug getting even worse, as if that were possible.
  • [2009/05/28 3:12] Morgaine Dinova: A relog made Caledon chat come back for me, by the way.
  • [2009/05/28 3:12] Multi Gadget: v1.57.1 by Timeless Prototype
  • [2009/05/28 3:14] Louise Linden: next up we have https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-13280
  • [2009/05/28 3:14] Louise Linden: Cannot create adult classified in Adult area / can create PG/Mature one
  • [2009/05/28 3:14] Louise Linden: has anyone tried this?
  • [2009/05/28 3:15] Sebastean Steamweaver: I can't say I have, my classifieds are PG
  • [2009/05/28 3:15] Davy Linden: this is expected behaviour
  • [2009/05/28 3:15] DMC Zsigmond: no our sims will not support adult
  • [2009/05/28 3:15] Davy Linden: and event in "adult" will always be classified "adult"
  • [2009/05/28 3:16] Sebastean Steamweaver: Ah, so a classified in an adult area is adult by default.
  • [2009/05/28 3:18] Sebastean Steamweaver: drops a pin. ~ting!~
  • [2009/05/28 3:19] Louise Linden: so it is expected behavour, but I would like to import as it's not clear thats what's happening
  • [2009/05/28 3:19] Davy Linden: yeah - I think it could be better explined, at least
  • [2009/05/28 3:19] Davy Linden: explined*
  • [2009/05/28 3:19] Louise Linden: yup
  • [2009/05/28 3:19] Davy Linden: grr
  • [2009/05/28 3:20] Louise Linden: lol
  • [2009/05/28 3:20] Davy Linden: explained**
  • [2009/05/28 3:20] Louise Linden: so import that one
  • [2009/05/28 3:20] Davy Linden: ok
  • [2009/05/28 3:21] Louise Linden: next is https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-13372
  • [2009/05/28 3:21] Louise Linden: Alpha textures flicker and vanish with shadows enabled (old bug from Kristens)
  • [2009/05/28 3:21] Sebastean Steamweaver: I have a question about the next JIRA concerning shadows.
  • [2009/05/28 3:21] Sebastean Steamweaver: Are the "shadows" its referring to the deferred pipeline in the nightly?
  • [2009/05/28 3:21] Louise Linden: sure
  • [2009/05/28 3:21] Sebastean Steamweaver: it's*
  • [2009/05/28 3:21] DMC Zsigmond: hmmm... interesting to know.
  • [2009/05/28 3:22] Larissa Vacano: i tried the shadows but my framerate fall back to 5 fps or slower ;-), but the textures was looking fine. i could not see that bug
  • [2009/05/28 3:22] Louise Linden: sorry my sure was in repsonse to asking a question
  • [2009/05/28 3:22] Louise Linden: not the actual question
  • [2009/05/28 3:22] Sebastean Steamweaver: Oh, no worries, hehe, I figured :)
  • [2009/05/28 3:22] Sebastean Steamweaver: I've tried to turn on shadows, but it never works for me.
  • [2009/05/28 3:22] Arabella Steadham: my framrate slowed to a crawl too, but was fine otherwise
  • [2009/05/28 3:22] Sebastean Steamweaver: What process do you follow Larissa?
  • [2009/05/28 3:23] Larissa Vacano: 13372 . alpha bugs
  • [2009/05/28 3:23] Larissa Vacano: i could not see that
  • [2009/05/28 3:23] Larissa Vacano: my textures was fine
  • [2009/05/28 3:23] Al Sonic: I should look into how to install the nightlies... see if any of them don't crash on me.
  • [2009/05/28 3:23] Larissa Vacano: but the framerate was slow
  • [2009/05/28 3:23] Sebastean Steamweaver: The debug option I was told to turn on shadows didn't do anything. How does one toggle the pipeline shadows?
  • [2009/05/28 3:24] DMC Zsigmond: renderdeferred and renderusefbo
  • [2009/05/28 3:24] DMC Zsigmond: "renderdeferred" and "renderusefbo" set to True in both instances
  • [2009/05/28 3:25] Sebastean Steamweaver: My renderdeferred just sets itself back to false.
  • [2009/05/28 3:25] Larissa Vacano: it works fine for me
  • [2009/05/28 3:25] Al Sonic: Likewise, Sebastian,
  • [2009/05/28 3:25] Sebastean Steamweaver: The FBO works fine for "true", but not the other setting
  • [2009/05/28 3:25] DMC Zsigmond: we've got a problem with the Science Fiction sim build while trying to prepare for shadows with PNG8x8 opague, i need jira it.
  • [2009/05/28 3:26] Al Sonic: when I loaded an alternate compilation of the code that ran okay for me.
  • [2009/05/28 3:26] Sebastean Steamweaver: Any idea why my client would refuse to use the deferred pipeline?
  • [2009/05/28 3:26] Sebastean Steamweaver: Hmm
  • [2009/05/28 3:26] DMC Zsigmond: What's you vid card again?
  • [2009/05/28 3:26] DMC Zsigmond: ATI ?
  • [2009/05/28 3:26] Al Sonic: Same question here, except I'm guessing it's my ATI.
  • [2009/05/28 3:26] Sebastean Steamweaver: X1800 Mobility Radeon
  • [2009/05/28 3:26] Louise Linden: This is a strange one, I think we will import it and go and investigate what's going on
  • [2009/05/28 3:26] Al Sonic: HD3670.
  • [2009/05/28 3:26] DMC Zsigmond: what ATI Catalyst Driver?
  • [2009/05/28 3:27] Larissa Vacano: i am using a nvidia 8800 so i cant reproduce it
  • [2009/05/28 3:27] Al Sonic: Mobility Radeon again.
  • [2009/05/28 3:27] Sebastean Steamweaver: Checking
  • [2009/05/28 3:27] Al Sonic: But yeah I've reproduced the switch to false with that.
  • [2009/05/28 3:27] Louise Linden: If anyone is reproducing it, could they add their specs to the jira for me please?
  • [2009/05/28 3:27] Al Sonic: Which now?
  • [2009/05/28 3:28] Louise Linden: as soon as you get a chance!
  • [2009/05/28 3:28] Louise Linden: the more info the better chance we have of working it out!
  • [2009/05/28 3:28] Al Sonic: Is this going by that thing that was said about having a separate issue for different cards?
  • [2009/05/28 3:28] DMC Zsigmond: By memory, working with x1900xtx, x2900xt, 3000 and 4000, you must be on at least ATI Catalyst 8.7 to sucessfully run shadows in SL
  • [2009/05/28 3:29] DMC Zsigmond: same would apply with Mobilities, im me after Triage for more support.
  • [2009/05/28 3:30] Sebastean Steamweaver: Sure DMC, sorry about the lack of response, I was getting a bit lagged.
  • [2009/05/28 3:30] DMC Zsigmond: np ;)
  • [2009/05/28 3:30] Sebastean Steamweaver: Speaking of, and not to change the subject, but Davy, do you know of any memory leaks in the nightly?
  • [2009/05/28 3:30] Al Sonic: I couldn't technically test it on 1.23 as that doesn't run long enough for me right now but...
  • [2009/05/28 3:31] Al Sonic: heh, well I guess I'll explain in the JIRA.
  • [2009/05/28 3:32] Arabella Steadham: I crashed trying to do that
  • [2009/05/28 3:32] Sebastean Steamweaver: I ask because there has been a memory leak I've hit several times using the nightly, but I can't seem to pinpoint what causes it. IT's even happened to me and another person in the same area simultaneously, his client was using 1.2Gb of ram, and mine was using 800Mb
  • [2009/05/28 3:33] Louise Linden: right guys and girls time's up, Davy and I have another meeting to get to!
  • [2009/05/28 3:33] Sebastean Steamweaver: So, it seems to be possibly environmentally related, but I haven't been able to find out enough information to be helpful in a JIRA
  • [2009/05/28 3:33] Arabella Steadham: its been interesting :)
  • [2009/05/28 3:33] Louise Linden: Thanks everyone for coming along!
