Marketplace/2012 Category Changes

Overview

In order to address Merchant requests for Category Changes on the Second Life Marketplace, we pulled together a summary of the changes based upon Merchant feedback and actual category use. We asked for feedback from Residents and have now pulled that feedback into the below categories. New categories/changes are in orange italics.

We have already added the new Categories under Celebrations--you can see these live on the Marketplace now. We would like to offer one more chance to provide feedback before we begin rolling out these changes in 2013. Note that these changes are meant to minimize active involvement by Merchants UNLESS those Merchants would like to take advantage of the new categories. Please let us know what you think!

Q: Is "Structures" going to be under "Building Components" or not?
A: The category which is currently "Building Components/Structures" will be moved to a top level category named "Buildings and Other Structures". All new categories that are broken out under the current structure of "Building Components/Structures" will be directly under this new, top-level category.

Q: Where are "Window Treatments"?
A: "Window Treatments" are currently a category directly under "Home & Garden".
