Explanation
Sometimes items are sold in simple containers that require you to "open" them up to get the contents. If you purchase clothing that comes in a box, you will have to extract the clothing objects from the box container and put them into your inventory before wearing them.
How to open a box
To unpack the box, you need to
- Open your inventory (CTRL-I)
- Drag and drop the box to the ground
- Right click on it
- Choose Open from the pie menu
- A window will open (it may take a minute or two if the box has a long list of items in it) and you can either
- Click on Copy To Inventory in order to store a copy of the objects in your inventory, or
- Click on Copy And Wear in order to store a copy of the objects in your inventory and wear them right away, or
- Drag and drop items from the window into your inventory.
Once you've copied the items, you can find them in your inventory. They will be in a folder which got the same name as the box you just unpacked. Check your Recent Items tab if you don't see it right away.
Caveats
- You will need to be on a parcel where building is allowed. It is allowed unless the no-build iconis shown on top of your Second Life window. (In some cases, if you are a member of the group that owns the land, activating your group title will permit you to build despite the no-build icon.)
