What is the Community Partnership Program?
The Community Partnership Program is a new initiative focused on expanding Linden Lab's™ relationship with large inworld communities. This new program is now open for all those who wish to apply. The purpose of this program is to improve the Mainland and create a rich and innovative overall Second Life® experience for all.
Why has Linden Lab decided to do this now?
We believe this collaboration between Linden lab and Second Life Residents will help provide compelling user experiences, thus making Second Life more enjoyable for everyone.
How long does the application process take?
The length of time it takes to submit an application is relative to the amount of information a Resident chooses to include. It is always a good idea to be as thorough as possible.
How will I know if my application has been approved?
A Linden representative will be processing each application in the order they are received. After reviewing the proposals and giving constructive feedback where needed, we will notify those who have been accepted. If we don't feel a proposal is appropriate for a partnership, we will let the applicant know.
I want to apply but there is at least one requirement where I fall short. What should I do?
The requirements will be closely looked at when determining partnership eligibility. If you're unable to meet all of the requirements at this time, you may want to continue to work towards filling each of the requirements and then apply again in the future.
What does "In Good Standing" mean?
We will be reviewing the history of the Second Life Residents who are in charge of the groups who apply.
Is there a limit on how many Communities will be able to participate?
While there is no set limit on the number of groups who can participate in this program, we want to keep the program small and manageable in the early stages. If this proves successful, more resources may be allotted to the growth of Community Partnership program areas.
Is this document set in stone?
Linden Lab has the right to amend the terms of this and any Code of Conduct documents at its discretion, but will always consult and work with Community Groups ahead of any changes.
How are Community Groups who choose not to participate or do not meet the requirements supposed to compete with those that are now getting explicit help from Linden Lab?
The application process is open to everyone; groups may choose to apply or not. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate everyone, and the requirements are in place to help those who are interested determine whether or not they qualify. If not, the requirements provide a framework for how these Groups can grow and later apply in the future.
Will Groups on Adult land, or those centered around Adult activities be excluded from this program?
Groups will not be disqualified based on the maturity settings of the land. Even though Linden Lab is open to the idea of partnering with Adult Content groups and will take all applications seriously, we reserve the right to deny an application based on content we deem inappropriate.
Isn't this just another example of Linden Lab playing favorites?
No. The application is open for all who wish to apply and regular, inclusive events, Regions that are always accessible to the public, and free content are all things we look for in a partnership group.
For detailed information about this new program, see Community Partnership Program and Blake Sea Code of Conduct.
