Update?

While translating the article into german I stumbled upon two parts that need some updating:

Part one:

  • This time next week we will begin to routinely look at the Search results and where we find clear use of Bots to gain an unfair Search advantage we will be handling it as an abuse issue.

As next week (according to the date of the blog post) was in April 2009 I translated it as:

  • For quite some time we routinely look at the Search results and where we find clear use of Bots to gain an unfair Search advantage we will be handle it as an abuse issue.

Part two:

  • Going forward we are going to look at ways to allow you to voluntarily identify to us that an account is a Bot, so that we can remove it from Traffic completely.

With the follow-up blog post and the ability to mark scripted agents in the accounts menu I translated it as:

  • As of October 2009 we have added the ability for you to tell us that that an account is being used as a scripted agent (bot) through the Accounts page on the website, so that we can remove it from Traffic completely.

The article was updated in 2010 and these issues no longer exist.
