What inspires the birth of a Neko in Second Life? How does an aspiring Neko uncover the velvety underbelly of virtual Neko culture — be it whiskers, etiquette, couture, roleplay, history, or genre — while discovering the best dark alleys or cozy perches along the way? Where do Nekos roam for fashion, passion and amusement in Second Life?
That's what I set out to answer, and that's how all things Neko became my niche in Second Life. Considering my penchant for being a curious, playful, insatiable (and occasionally sarcastic) little kitteh, it all adds up to a strong passion for creating and supporting the community of Nekos in Second Life. It's not only my tribe, it's my way of giving back. Here's how I do it:
Virtual Neko Blog [1]
Virtual Neko is a blog about all things Neko in Second Life, created and maintained as a central resource for the Neko community. You'll find everything from helpful Neko resource pages and "how to" guides, to fashion tips, exploring recommendations, and clubs, not to mention special Neko events and sales. If you are likewise drawn to the Neko side of Second Life, whether for part time fun or the result of total DNA reconstruction, this blog’s for you — a place to share what you love, learn about your history, and connect with others of your species.
Second Life Neko Community Forum [2]
This online community was created a place for Nekos from Second Life to connect with each other online, to share their own stories, photos, experiences, favorite stores, and favorite places to explore, to discuss what's on their mind, and most importantly, to meet others that share their passion and feel at home together.
Second Life group: VirtualNeko
If you’ve got available group space, open up your search tab, click on “groups,” and type “VirtualNeko” (all one word, no space). Joining is open, chat is welcomed, so it's a great place to find fellow Nekos when in-world. I also use this group to send out special sales, freebie announcements, or event notices (collected from over 400 Neko stores I keep in touch with).

If your avatar already has a page there (you’d be surprised how many Second Life avatars do), feel free to friend me. No worries, I hate spam as much as you... I only post when there’s something important to say… like a way cool set of free ears and tail I stumbled upon, or an amazing Neko store sale… that kinda thing.

Once again, I keep it simple. I'm not going to tweet about waking up, eating lunch, and going to sleep. All you will see are occasional quick updates on sales, events, and important Neko-related news.

In Second Life, I'm much the same as I am in First Life: I love brilliant minds, spontaneous laughter, warm hearts, creative beauty, undiscovered lands, and original music. Quirky sense of humor is a definite plus. ^_^ While I certainly don’t purport to have all the answers, I love nothing better than hunting and sharing my kill (see? no surprise furry Neko bits magically appeared on my avatar...).
