- [15:07] Linden: the: agenda is here
- [15:07] Linden: https//wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Beta_Server_Office_Hours#Agenda:
- [15:07] Menatep: Hello: :)
- [15:07] Madrigal: here: is what I think about http textures
- [15:07] Madrigal: INFO: LLTextureFetchWorker::doWork: HTTP GET failed for: [1] Status: 500 Reason: Try:1/4
- [15:07] Madrigal: they: fail.
- [15:07] Diavolo: holy: crap i got more lag than a welcome area and lower fps
- [15:07] Linden: stop: requesting non existent textures
- [15:07] Yap: Xigerot,: you have to upgrade your viewer
- [15:08] Menatep: hee: hee
- [15:08] Madrigal: Status: 500
- [15:08] Loon: lol: peoples bakes
- [15:08] Yap: Are: you on Snowglobe?
- [15:08] Linden: https//wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Beta_Server_Office_Hours#Agenda:
- [15:08] Diavolo: 2.0:
- [15:08] Linden: did: I paste that yet
- [15:08] Yap: SG: 1.5 has very recent fixes
- [15:08] Linden: 2.0: has bugs
- [15:08] Flora: Yes:
- [15:08] Linden: I: made that clear
- [15:08] Linden: in: many places
- [15:08] Diavolo: 2.0: is pure doodoo
- [15:08] Linden: I: said user vwr 2.1
- [15:08] Diavolo: i: couldnt get the DL
- [15:08] Diavolo: no: link on DL page >:B
- [15:08] Loon: I: cannot get 2.1 to compile
- [15:08] Linden: if: you can't follow instructions...
- [15:08] Loon: The: google breakcrap thing breaks crap
- [15:08] Diavolo: i: had to reinstall today cause i had a double friends list
- [15:09] Diavolo: and: opening friends list was crashing me
- [15:10] Carter: rember: the mettign are mainly about server issues not client issues
- [15:10] Loon: All: issues ;)
- [15:10] Diavolo: aye,: i wasnt trying to override it. just statement of exaperation for the most part.
- [15:10] Diavolo: narf:
- [15:10] Carter: ok: snowglone 1.40 is broked with http texturesd
- [15:11] Loon: I: don't think snow '1.4' works with http textures, But 1.5 does
- [15:11] Yap: SG: 1.4 is about to come out with those fixes, but in the meantime try SG 1.5
- [15:11] Linden: maybe: that's why I heard that snowglobe 1.4doesn't support http textures..
- [15:11] Linden: there: you go
- [15:11] Linden: get: a viewer that supports it and try again
- [15:11] Linden: the: rollout has gone quite smoothly
- [15:12] Ashton: thats: good news then
- [15:12] Blackadder: so: far it works a treat
- [15:12] Cronon: hello: everybody
- [15:12] Linden: hi: rex
- [15:12] Carter: Yus: ! amazign how well a simple confiuge file update goes
- [15:12] Ashton: hey: rex
- [15:12] Diavolo: ohh..i: misworded that BTW...the viewer download for 2.1 beta is gone because 2.0 standard download IS 2.1 now.
- [15:12] Cronon: hi: oskar, ouri
- [15:12] Cronon: youri*:
- [15:12] 2D 1.6: Reading notecard LangEN
- [15:13] Metty: i: see you partly invisible Maestro (on 1.23.5)
- [15:13] LindenOskar Linden: makes a note to never use vwr 2 for important meetings like this. sorry guys. I still can't find anything
- [15:13] Carter: same: here maestro
- [15:13] Linden: yeah,: that's my alpha mask
- [15:13] [[User:Diavolo: >.<|Diavolo: >.<]]:
- [15:14] Flora: Maestro: is holey
- [15:14] Linden: it's: supposed to look that way =P
- [15:14] Carter: hehe:
- [15:14] Linden: 1/2: invisible
- [15:14] Metty: that's: ok lol
- [15:14] Yap: http//wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Snowglobe#Development_Snapshots:
- [15:14] Decosta: yeah: 704 in score
- [15:14] Diavolo: http//wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Viewer_2_Moves:
- [15:14] Diavolo: thats: all i could find for help for 2.0 that amde sense
- [15:14] Cronon: make: sure u r around when viewer 3 is being worked on, oskar:)
- [15:14] Diavolo: made: as well*
- [15:15] Flora: Oskar: Whats the status on fixing the various new bugs in 1.40/1.42?
- [15:15] Metty: http//wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Beta_Server/1.42:
- [15:15] Yap: Oskar,: do a quick viewer change
- [15:15] Linden: the: status? kitto?
- [15:15] Linden: 1.42: is on aditi now
- [15:15] Linden: you: are looking at it
- [15:16] Flora: status: pertaing to the current situation of a subjet, improvements, discoveries, failures...
- [15:16] Linden: this: is what we'll be shipping barring any unforeseen issues
- [15:16] Ashton: ugh,: cold tea again... lol
- [15:17] Flora: Oskar: Do you have a filter on the word 'bugs'?
- [15:17] Linden: so: who has poked at 1.42 server?
- [15:17] FloraKitto Flora: has
- [15:17] Diavolo: only: in the most minute way
- [15:17] Loon: I: don't know what's new in it, to poke around with
- [15:17] Linden: so: the main changes are object rezzing, region crossing (both avatars and objects), and avatar texture baking
- [15:17] Diavolo: bullets: still fly like bullets
- [15:18] Breed: Is: there anything in the 1.42 when it comes to sim owners to mess with the temp object rez q settings?
- [15:18] Metty: i: did some common things on 1.42
- [15:18] Linden: there: are also several 1.40 crasher bugfixes
- [15:18] RunoLiisa Runo: has (but only a lil, to make sure good haxes still work) no release notes, no idea what to test to be usefull)
- [15:18] Yap: The: release notes are blank--what should people be looking for?
- [15:18] Loon: Oh: yeah, I forgot about the multithreadded rezing/derezzing
- [15:18] Linden: Jonathon: the things I just listed, really
- [15:19] Linden: that's: about it
- [15:19] Ashton: wb: simon
- [15:19] Linden: we: also added some performance monitoring tools to the simulator, for measuring details about sim performance
- [15:19] Linden: 1.42: is really light
- [15:19] Linden: but: that's not something you can see ;)
- [15:20] Madrigal: could: we ever see it? :P
- [15:20] Mayo: I've: seen occcasional trains flaoting into the air a fewmeters on region crossings. Not consistent.
- [15:20] Linden: but: that should help us identify slowdowns in the simulator and improve performance in the long run
- [15:20] Linden: I'm: not asking you guys to do functional regression
- [15:20] Linden: we're: already doing that
- [15:20] Linden: I: need you to point out the shit that breaks that we can't see
- [15:20] Linden: that: is how you guys have helped the most
- [15:20] Mayo: They: end up back on track, so no big deal.
- [15:21] Linden: avatar: baking is now using the UploadBakedTexture cap, which seems to work a lot better than the old method
- [15:21] Menatep: what: about other prims that don't return no matter what the permissions are? Would that be a bug?
- [15:21] Flora: Its: the same as 1.40, for what breaks.. the problems in 1.40 are still in 1.42
- [15:21] Hudson: xstrom: is missing from action.
- [15:21] Loon: Mmm:
- [15:21] Linden: if: it is reproducible Fayble
- [15:21] Yap: What: viewer(s) support that new avatar baking ?
- [15:21] Linden: pre-existing: problems don't get as much attention as new problems
- [15:21] Cronon: last: week xstorm had problems with his computer
- [15:21] Carter: new: backing method?
- [15:22] Flora: these: problems were new in 1.40
- [15:22] Linden: right: now only 2 bugs are reported in pjira against 1.42, and both of those bugs existed since ancient times: https://jira.secondlife.com/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?mode=hide&requestId=13023
- [15:22] Ashton: think: xstorm is on vacation rather at this time
- [15:22] Menatep: that: is what is happening, not sure how its being reproduced in Spirit Fens...
- [15:22] Ashton: its: the season
- [15:22] Breed: link: doe snot work
- [15:22] Hudson: We: have up to 5 ms Spare Time here
- [15:22] Carter: ah: it's a sec jira
- [15:22] Linden: hmm: it's just some filter for SVC bugs with affects version including 1.42
- [15:23] Cronon: u: can delete ghost prim using scripts as long as u can edit it, sellect it, and drop a ill script in it:)
- [15:23] Cronon: drop: a lsl*
- [15:23] Flora: SVC-5880: was new in 1.40 and is reported as a bug in 1.42 as well.
- [15:23] [[User:Helper: [#SVC-5880|Helper: [#SVC-5880]]:
- [15:24] Linden: needs: to be updated I guess
- [15:24] Menatep: The: prims belong to others, i may even be a ghost prim issue, hencen i can't find them anywhere lol
- [15:24] Linden: Kitto,: that issue might not be addressed soon
- [15:24] Carter: rex: a ghosted prim cant been edited as it's is not viable to the clinet at all other then an invisable colision geomtry
- [15:24] Linden: there: are long term plans to fix vehicles in sl by redoing all the havok related functions
- [15:25] Linden: There: also have been only two crashes in this latest version that was rolled out a few days ago, so please try and break it in the sandboxes
- [15:25] Linden: but: until then, you might just have to find a way to fix it yourself
- [15:25] Cronon: i: have seen ghost prims that owner can select and edit, but nothing happens
- [15:25] Flora: Its: now breaking content on the main grid, Oskar. Owner is annoyed (to put it politely)
- [15:25] Menatep: coool: Oskar, that will be nice
- [15:25] Linden: how: do other trains work?
- [15:25] Carter: i: have not had any issues then again i dont usew phsycs for trains
- [15:26] Diavolo: Sandbox: name Simon?
- [15:26] Linden: Falcon: has been looking into that prim-edge collision problem. I think he's trying to get a bug fix from Havok
- [15:26] Carter: as: historicly npv has been more relible
- [15:26] Mayo: Collision: guided ones have to slow down to stay on curves depending on radius.
- [15:26] Flora: Like: any bug, this problem affects only certain combinations of prims and situations. So some engines will work, some will have problems
- [15:26] Linden: Base: - really anything on Aditi with 1.42.0.207690 is fine
- [15:26] Diavolo: cool:
- [15:26] Breed: when: it comes to this issue https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-5927 has there been any progress on it in the new coming server patch?
- [15:26] [[User:Helper: [#SVC-5927|Helper: [#SVC-5927]]:
- [15:27] Carter: thank: your for finaly alowign true 32 prim vechiles ;-)
- [15:27] Carter: they: work great
- [15:27] Flora: 32: prim physicals have been allowed for .. a year?
- [15:27] Mayo: Second: that!
- [15:28] Diavolo: but: when an Av sits it...an extra prim is added
- [15:28] Carter: no: kitto 31 prim vechiles
- [15:28] Linden: I: haven't heard anything further about a long term fix for svc-5927
- [15:28] [[User:Helper: [#SVC-5927|Helper: [#SVC-5927]]:
- [15:28] Carter: we: filny have 32
- [15:28] Flora: whe: nan av sits it becomes one of the prims
- [15:28] Diavolo: so: theorietically it had to be 31 for one av to sit.....30 for 2 and so on and so forth
- [15:28] Flora: 32: prim physicals have been allowed for .. a year
- [15:29] Linden: the: solution might be some estate-level setting to not have bullets queued (and let griefers lag/crash your sim more easily)
- [15:29] Diavolo: thats: a very good idea
- [15:29] Loon: More: estate options would be nice, I can't stand alot of the restrictions that just get in the way of things
- [15:29] Menatep: /nod:
- [15:29] Breed: is: there anything that could be done, as in setting up a test area to help with the issue? the issue is casuing quite a problem for the sl combat community. if there could be a option to turn the whole queing thing off it would ne nice
- [15:29] Carter: so: bye bye mainland wepon sims?
- [15:29] Ashton: agreed: meastro
- [15:30] Linden: there: are a lot of things planned for giving estate managers more control over their regions
- [15:30] Linden: they're: coming... but not very soon
- [15:30] Loon: That: sounds awesome Oskar
- [15:30] Linden: by: not soon I mean like not next week or month
- [15:30] Cronon: what: issue, firefox?
- [15:30] Loon: =p:
- [15:30] Breed: https//jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-5927:
- [15:30] [[User:Helper: [#SVC-5927|Helper: [#SVC-5927]]:
- [15:30] Cronon: oh.: that one:(
- [15:31] Runo: please: dont forget mainland... it is the heart of SL. the true SL, islands are barely part of the grid
- [15:31] Breed: quite: honistly when we are tring to do combat and bullets fail to rez for 40+ seconds.... i get the urge to ask the other side to start up bad compony 2 and fight on there
- [15:31] Carter: the: mainliand is the hart beat
- [15:31] Linden: true...: the mainland thing is harder to figure out since landowners dont get EM rights
- [15:31] Hudson: I: love Mainland
- [15:31] Carter: i: love exploring mainlkand by train plane car boat
- [15:32] Menatep: Mainland: ftw!
- [15:32] Linden: somebody: will surely drop a note when we're ready for more svc5927 testing
- [15:32] Loon: I: thought if you own 100% of a sim, you can get EM on it?
- [15:32] Carter: we: realy need beter vechil preformance
- [15:32] Linden: so: if someone owns 100% of a sim on mainland they still can't access what an EM can
- [15:32] Linden: I: didn't think so Moy
- [15:32] Linden: since: mainland is one estate
- [15:32] Loon: Oh,: Must have been yesteryears or something
- [15:32] Carter: will: scv-22 ever be fixed?
- [15:32] Carter: svc-22:
- [15:32] [[User:Helper: [#SVC-22|Helper: [#SVC-22]]:
- [15:32] Breed: is: there any timeone on when more testing on 5927 will happen?
- [15:33] Linden: maybe:
- [15:33] Breed: timeline*:
- [15:33] Linden: i: don't know firefox
- [15:33] BreedFireFox Breed: nods
- [15:33] Flora: Parcel: full is a problem - have to beat on the parcel owner to clean up
- [15:34] Runo: temp: vehicles help on the full parcel issue
- [15:34] Decosta: hmm,: i need to know about that phantomatic prims when an prims is between 2 region , that thingcould be fixed or not realy?
- [15:34] Linden: i: don't know eddi
- [15:34] Flora: no-entry: - too bad. Its no-entry. Putting a road or railway into a no-entry parcel is a design error
- [15:34] Breed: also: that bring up another squestion. is it still possable to have a sim rolled back to 1.38?
- [15:34] Decosta: cause: , to do a bridge its verry difficult
- [15:35] Linden: no: firefox
- [15:35] Flora: Eddi: It sound like you need to learn how to build border crossing structures.
- [15:35] Carter: kitto: it's lag that cause you to drift into the no entry parcles as you try to say on the protectedc lnad
- [15:36] Carter: the: protected land is very naro
- [15:36] Flora: Shamus: yeah - well if its lag, nothing else will fix the situation.
- [15:36] Carter: and: people often have there parcls set obnously
- [15:36] Flora: lag: - no cpu cycle=no way to run code to correct the situation
- [15:37] Carter: true:
- [15:37] Flora: Put: a wall on your side of the no-entry parcel
- [15:37] Linden: so: anyways
- [15:37] Carter: and: ban orbs gerr
- [15:37] Bravin: Can't: put a wall on protected water ways.
- [15:37] Linden: moving: to the topic of tcmalloc
- [15:37] Linden: -):
- [15:37] Carter: yes: tcmalloc
- [15:38] Linden: anyone: go out and poke at the tcmalloc regions?
- [15:38] Tigerpaw: yup:
- [15:38] Flora: I: ran a LOT of trains in the TCmalloc test sim - they all ran ok.. but there was little else in the sim
- [15:38] CarterSHAMUS Carter: has not visited them yet
- [15:38] Linden: thanks: kitto
- [15:38] Carter: plans: to do a lot of point around with his tardis and emdash
- [15:39] Flora: 4: trains each with 1 engine + 12 carriages = 52 vehicles
- [15:39] Tigerpaw: i: discovered taking an object frozen by grey goo fence loses the object
- [15:39] Tigerpaw: but: I guess thats been around
- [15:39] Flora: Needs: testing with 20+ Avs in the region too
- [15:39] Carter: oh: whats with the 3 objects named object in the libary on aditi?
- [15:39] Linden: flynn: yeah, I saw the same thing on 1.38. it's likey pretty classic behavior
- [15:40] Linden: no: idea Shamus :-)
- [15:40] Flora: Thats: incase you run out of objects ;)
- [15:40] Diavolo: lol:
- [15:40] Linden: I: also see "test" in the top level of Library
- [15:40] Carter: Attempt: to rez an object failed.
- [15:40] Carter: hehe:
- [15:40] Linden: someone: might have been tweaking the library on here
- [15:41] Flora: If: you cant pass the test then you cant get into the library
- [15:41] Linden: better: here than agni :)
- [15:41] Linden: heh:
- [15:41] Linden: yeah:
- [15:41] Carter: true:
- [15:41] Diavolo: beach: ball is one of them
- [15:41] Linden: so: I wanted to talk for a minute about how you guys can best help us out
- [15:41] Diavolo: beach: ball has been replaced by object
- [15:41] Carter: oh?:
- [15:41] Linden: without: going into details you've all seen the news and you know how constrained resources are here
- [15:42] Diavolo: parrot: too
- [15:42] Mechanique: what: news?
- [15:42] Linden: so: the role you play in the quality process is more important than ever before
- [15:42] Carter: dont: tell me the lindes have been replacing libray itens it ip replacments ;-)
- [15:42] Loon: I: will miss Qarl :(
- [15:42] Carter: pore: qarl
- [15:42] Diavolo: does: that mean mesh is dead?
- [15:42] Ashton: we: all miss him Moy
- [15:42] Linden: given: that qa resources internally are stretched quite thin your help is greatly appreciated
- [15:43] Cronon: what: about qarl, moy?
- [15:43] Linden: definitely:
- [15:43] Linden: that: brings me to the topic of bugs
- [15:43] Linden: and: filing jiras
- [15:43] Ashton: qarl: is dead
- [15:43] Carter: qarl: got the can
- [15:43] Loon: Hasn't: 'Runitai Linden' been in charge of mesh since always though?
- [15:43] Linden: and: I know most of you really hate doing that
- [15:43] Ashton: well...: he got fired
- [15:43] Linden: it's: not my most enjoyable taks either
- [15:43] Decosta: maestro: , its bad :(
- [15:43] Hudson: Moment: of silence for Qarl
- [15:44] Linden: yes.: i will miss qarl as well
- [15:44] Metty: filing: SVC jiras is not so bad with Maestro around :)
- [15:44] Decosta: do: you know any thing for flexy prims on sculpty?
- [15:44] Carter: not: likly to happen
- [15:44] Loon: I: worked on flexi sculpties a few years ago
- [15:44] Loon: http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTQgb7x_now:
- [15:44] Linden: here's: the thing. I take your reports very seriously
- [15:44] Ashton: we: kinda could preotest by getting rid of all sculpties, to honor him
- [15:44] Carter: most: is to cpu intencive
- [15:44] Runo: about: Qarl: [2]
- [15:44] Linden: and: either i Investigate issues you report or have someone else do it
- [15:44] Linden: maestro: does a lot
- [15:44] Linden: 9: times out of 10 there is no issue there
- [15:44] Carter: omg: noo sl need it's sculptys
- [15:45] Linden: and: it takes a lot of our time to diagnose that
- [15:45] Carter: i: could not stand sl with out qauls work on the sculpted prims
- [15:45] Linden: I: know it takes more time on your part to file jiras and do research
- [15:45] Linden: but: it helps us immensely
- [15:46] Decosta: hmm,: SHAMUS right but some viewer crash on sculpty load ..
- [15:46] Metty: ok: Oskar
- [15:46] Linden: maestro's: on your jira's before you've finished entering them...
- [15:46] Linden: or: sometimes there really is an issue somewhere, but the original report doesn't quite pinpoint where the failure lies
- [15:46] Metty: indeed: Monty, lol
- [15:46] Linden: here: is what helps us
- [15:46] Linden: heh:
- [15:46] Linden: please: file a jira
- [15:46] Linden: be: as detailed as possible
- [15:46] Linden: outline: expected results
- [15:46] Linden: outline: actual results
- [15:47] Linden: add: repro steps
- [15:47] Decosta: Oskars,: about sculpty crash?
- [15:47] Linden: us: having issue causing bugs are better than issues
- [15:47] Cronon: when: jira4 gets here, nobodoy know what jiras will be ported. seems to be a kind of useless if u write jiras that get lost in transition:(
- [15:47] Linden: if: you see an item that has a bug it doesn't help us unless you know how to make that tiem have a bug
- [15:47] Linden: the: difference is key there
- [15:48] Linden: support: can handle the bugged items :-D
- [15:48] Decosta: cause,: its like a viewer kill, on loading textures for the sculpty *
- [15:48] Loon: 90%: of the jiras could stand being lost, as they're just generitards whining about how their inv isn't loading, or clothings won't bake
- [15:48] Linden: I: want to know how the items came to be bugged if you see what I mean
- [15:48] Linden: eddi: you know I don't handle viewer bugs
- [15:48] Cronon: how: do bugged sculpties behave?
- [15:49] Flora: Eddi,: maybe you should take that problem to the Viewr metings, not th esimulator meets
- [15:49] Carter: yes: oskar is incharg od server stuff nto client suff
- [15:49] Decosta: on: snowglobe 2.1 , 1.5 and emerald viewer ..
- [15:49] Linden: so: yeah. that's all I had to say about filing bugs. please do the investigative work on your end and it saves time on our end... time we just don't have anymore
- [15:50] Decosta: i: get some freez on original viwer 2.1 but its acceptabl
- [15:50] Linden: I: had a LOT of people reporting http textures issues this week. I took a lot of time diagnosing those issues
- [15:50] CarterSHAMUS Carter: has nevber had a single issue with sculpte prims
- [15:50] Linden: and: they were all issues on ADITI after I had explained to use AGNI
- [15:50] Linden: small: mistake, but wasted many hours on my part
- [15:50] Carter: the: bigest issue with http textures is acidently having imagepipelineusehttp set treu on a client thaty dose not fully suport them
- [15:51] Metty: that: happens Oskar
- [15:51] Metty: there: will always be noise
- [15:51] Linden: i: know shamus
- [15:51] Metty: it: takes time to filter it out, it's the way it is
- [15:51] Linden: but: now that http tex is on all those vwrs can fix their bugs :-D
- [15:51] Carter: yep:
- [15:52] Runo: exept: mainsteam viewer... (1.23)
- [15:52] Yap: Oskar,: is some Linden going to write up and post a blog entry about http textures -- people might be inclined to update their viewer if they knew of this
- [15:52] Carter: true: 1.23 is left to die a dslow p[ainfull dearth
- [15:52] Loon: Mmm:
- [15:53] Linden: sadly: yes. 1.23 gets less and elss relevent every day
- [15:53] Hudson: Isnt: it logical to have all viewers use HTTP Textures for a better resource unloading
- [15:53] Linden: I'llsee: Jonathan
- [15:53] Boa: Include: SnowGlobe in the possible viewers... Not only V2
- [15:53] Drag Kart: 1.2: 2.162964
- [15:54] Carter: yes: the logical upgread for people who still like 1.23 is to upgread to snowglobe
- [15:54] Linden: so: 7 minutes left
- [15:54] Tigerpaw: what: sort of things does everyone do to sims to try and break them?
- [15:54] Menatep: ):
- [15:54] Tigerpaw: Looking: for more ideas
- [15:54] Diavolo: hit: it with a BIG hammer...
- [15:55] Loon: Depends: on how you want to break them
- [15:55] Diavolo: and: maybe a few bajillion prims <.<
- [15:55] Menatep: yep:
- [15:55] object is: not for sale.
- [15:55] CarterSHAMUS Carter: pokes at sim with a small tooth pick and it crumbles
- [15:55] Runo: only: takes one script to bring it down, and only takes 1 prim with no script to crash it
- [15:55] Carter: lol:
- [15:55] Diavolo: lol:
- [15:55] Diavolo: xD:
- [15:55] Loon: Send: in a few packets with garbage values, That tends to break sims
- [15:56] Linden: -):
- [15:56] Carter: yes: there very tempermental when it come to input output
- [15:56] Mayo: Are: those in the Library, Liisa?
- [15:56] Runo: no:
- [15:56] Linden: so: I will call this meeting short at 3:59 and leave the last minute a minute of silence for Qarl
- [15:57] Metty: ok:
- [15:57] Boa: Errr...: He's not really dead... Just gone...
- [15:57] Cronon: my: best wishes to him
