Torley Linden: Heyhey!
DJ Jenns: oooh a tigert
Torley Linden: Hi everyone!
Daedalus Young: hi Torley
DJ Jenns: Hi torley
Torley Linden: Good to see ya all here already! =o)
Phli Foxchase: Hi Torley
Memnoch Matzerath: Torley :D
Igel Hawks: Hi Torley :D
Lyndsey Forager: hello Torley
Daedalus Young: so quiet today
DJ Jenns: makes a nice change
Daedalus Young: true
Torley Linden: :D
Torley Linden: Peace... hehe...
Lyndsey Forager: its nice outside, i bet everyone is off to the beach for a 99
Igel Hawks: Peace, love and unity
Torley Linden: Yeah, and SLCC is going on too!
Torley Linden: I know PLUR!
Lyndsey Forager: oh yeah
Torley Linden: I used to be a raver.
DJ Jenns: yeah, how come you arent there Torley ?
Igel Hawks: Oh such a pretty hat!
Torley Linden: Ah, because I exist only in Second Life! Haha. :D
DJ Jenns: lolol
Torley Linden: Seriously tho, I don't travel much.
Lyndsey Forager: i loved that write up about HipIhi - or what ever it was called, so funny
Lyndsey Forager: copy cats
Heiko Decatur: Hello
Daedalus Young: hi
DJ Jenns: Torley - How did you find your experiences with Kaneva
Igel Hawks: All traveling aside TPs is too much stress, or?
Torley Linden: Thanks, well, I observe things — I have a lot of admiration for clearly-influenced stuff that travels and soars above and beyond, but not stuff that is a sad facade of the original.
Torley Linden: Kaneva was OK, what I liked is the YouTube videos inworld... that was pretty smooth for me.
Lyndsey Forager: have you ventured inside vSide Torley?
DJ Jenns: yeah the whole integration of the profiles and media impressed me
Torley Linden: vSide? Not yet, I should check that out, what's it like?
DJ Jenns: I got a 70 minute mix uploaded and playing inworld
Torley Linden: Oh right on DJ! So, where did you upload it to? I haven't gotten to that point yet.
Lyndsey Forager: its very music based, and like a comic book
Torley Linden: Heiko very cool color change. :)
Lyndsey Forager: very funky
Qie Niangao gambles that that is really an empty seat and not just a not-yet-rezzed avatar
DJ Jenns: the music section!
Heiko Decatur: heh thank you, still a little tweaking to do before he's finished
DJ Jenns: and made a playlist with it one it
Torley Linden: Yes, here, there's always an extra seat, up to 10... then it tends to get very squished... hehe.
DJ Jenns: on^ sorry
Torley Linden: OMG Heiko is that an iguana?
Heiko Decatur: a chameleon
Torley Linden: Ahhh!
Lyndsey Forager: is it a karma chamelion
Torley Linden: Makes total sense!
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Gumby Roffo: ok back
Gumby Roffo: ah G'day Tor
Torley Linden: I'd like an axlotl av, they're so cute.
Torley Linden: G'day!
Heiko Decatur: Flea bussy did the body I am doing the scripting and texturing
DJ Jenns: vSide is absolutely stunning to look at but being aimed at the youth market its filled with teenagers and there is no age seperation...
Heiko Decatur: an axlotl...interesting, aslong as its not the tank variety
Torley Linden: Haha Heiko, DUNE REFERENCE!
Daedalus Young: axolotl! I didn't even know that existed
Torley Linden: *makes a note of vSide*
Daedalus Young: what a funky creature
Torley Linden: Yeah, they have such cute smiles.
DJ Jenns: at least for the surroundings and the style of it torley - im sure you can make some very nice pics
Lyndsey Forager: I must admit, im not finding SL as amazing as i used to, i think windlight will enthuse me again
Torley Linden: Axolotl I mean, hard to spell.
Heiko Decatur: pretty pretty windlight
Daedalus Young: while we're on the subject of animals: a panda is born in an Austrian zoo: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6960947.stm
Torley Linden: I hope it will Lyndsey.
Torley Linden: *looks*
Rock Pond Pose ball: llStopAnimation: Script trying to stop animations but agent not found
DJ Jenns: I think though lyndsey its not the fact that SL is losing your interest - your just exploring new clients/worlds
Daedalus Young: rare for pandas to breed in captivity
Heiko Decatur: very rare
Lyndsey Forager: that could be true
Gumby Roffo: must have been a Zoo closed day!
Torley Linden: Pandas are really cute, I have a panda av.
DJ Jenns: same here
DJ Jenns: from WC3
Torley Linden: Oh, is that the war panda?
DJ Jenns: not that ive played it - but hes bloody cute
Torley Linden: The one with all the armor?
DJ Jenns: lol yes
DJ Jenns: and the staff
Torley Linden: Haha that cracks me up, who did that war panda av? I think Psyra made one awhile ago?
Daedalus Young: they're cute with their big eyes and happy face
Heiko Decatur: Pandaren?
Heiko Decatur: Yes Psyra did
Torley Linden: Right on.
Lyndsey Forager: he he
Heiko Decatur: Ninja mem
Torley Linden: Yeah I dig all the variety at Grendel's Children... SO MUCH STUFF!
Memnoch Matzerath: hehehe, heiko
Torley Linden: I love to see amazingly prolific creativity...
Lyndsey Forager: so, how long did it take you to write melon snow torley
Heiko Decatur: its what happens when you stick that many crazy people in a sandbox together
DJ Jenns: ahhh yes lol - melon snow
Torley Linden: I think that's why many of my fave authors (like Asimov and Stephen King) have such prodigious outfit.
Torley Linden: Lyndsey, like, 15 minutes and then I spent some time setting up the camera.
Lyndsey Forager: he he, i had only just stopped humming chocolate rain - lol
Torley Linden: Since it was based on an original song ("Chocolate Rain") it was pretty easy to parody.
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Memnoch Matzerath: when you get a chance torley i think you'll like what we started in our kro sim on gren's..
Heiko Decatur: heheh yes its very purty
Torley Linden: Memnoch: Ooh, is that so! What do ya have goin' on there?
Memnoch Matzerath: you know us with landscapes.. There's a bit of a "maze" going on with tunnels and water, and such
Torley Linden: You really have some rich environments happening...
Lyndsey Forager: so, how did you find teaching torley, the photos were great
Torley Linden: good to carry out whole role-playing campaigns. ;)
Heiko Decatur: I missed the tunnels we had in chima i'm glad we have some more
Torley Linden: Teaching was really rewarding Lyndsey, thanks.
Torley Linden: I think one of my great passions is not just to learn, but to teach.
Torley Linden: Otherwise that knowledge is limited, and that doesn't satisfy me.
Lyndsey Forager: it takes a special skill to teach, its not just imparting knowledge, its all in the delivery
Torley Linden: That's a good point, because I've known some boring "teachers", haha...
IM: Sexxy Dejavu: you are a doll in my book
Torley Linden: the key thing for me is to be memorable...
DJ Jenns: i think your ability and passion to teach comes over on your tutorial videos as well torley
Torley Linden: give someone something they can "take away" with.
Torley Linden: Aw!
Torley Linden: I get so excited finding about this stuff, and I'm like, "Why didn't I know sooner!? Now I must share!"
Lyndsey Forager: cool
DJ Jenns: i've been here since Nov 2005 and i couldnt believe how much i learned from that video with alt-zooming and taking pictures
Lyndsey Forager: i would really like to leaRN how to make videos in sl
Nock Forager: ya, mee too!
Torley Linden: Aw DJ, I'm glad you did... that was like a culmination of a bunch of stuff I had gathered over time.
DJ Jenns: and renderglow <3
Daedalus Young: and the rotated cube is a fav trick of mine
Torley Linden: Glow is going to be a full, proper build feature in WindLight.
Torley Linden: You can set it per-texture...
Heiko Decatur: render glow is pretty as is reflections
Lyndsey Forager: glow is soooo pretty
Torley Linden: and haha yeah, rotated cube is sooo underused. Just one of those observations.
Nock Forager: and Envy to Windlight :-)
DJ Jenns: Torley did I show you that video that i made - a girl dancing in sl on a rl music video
Leaving god mode, level 200
Lyndsey Forager: its amazing
Daedalus Young: and what I do, if I can, rez some temp local lights
Torley Linden: DJ, I don't think you have, please do!
Torley Linden: Yeah, lighting makes such a difference... it's funny how horrific many scenes can look when I tint them red.
DJ Jenns: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Lagrsu_PUlc
Torley Linden: Or conversely, yellow-green makes them sci-fi.
Daedalus Young: so you can just highlight some things better
Torley Linden: *checks it ot*
Torley Linden: Er, OUT!
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Lyndsey Forager: it was so impressed when i saw that movie, its so clever
Igel Hawks: :-)))
Torley Linden: Armand Van Helden too? I haven't listened to his music in years!
Sexxy Dejavu: ao off
Torley Linden: Haha that's fun... really nice use of the media streaming...
DJ Jenns: ahhh his current stuff is very bouncy
Daedalus Young: one of my own fav photos I made with local light and half transparent black background is this: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=195490
DJ Jenns: thats not media streaming torley
DJ Jenns: ;)
Torley Linden: I like his remix of "Professional Widow", that's a classic.
Torley Linden: Hey Sexxy!
Sexxy Dejavu: hi
Igel Hawks: LOL
Torley Linden: Oh... a green screen eh DJ?
Torley Linden: *reads description*
DJ Jenns: yeps
Lyndsey Forager: hiya sexxy, long time no see
Torley Linden: The rhythms look really well synced-up.
Sexxy Dejavu: omg Torlley im so under dressed i was swiming heehee
DJ Jenns: thought it would be an unusual use of it - and a very good point - think how many good machinimas could be made in sl
Torley Linden: Hah it's okay there's a lake right over there. ;)
Gumby Roffo: ahh I haven't been in world long enough , Not to get distracted
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Torley Linden: Yeah, there's a lot of room for exploration there... having avatars interact with "real people" too.
Daedalus Young: I've seen good machinimas
Torley Linden: Haha Gumby!
Daedalus Young: check out the sl group on YouTube
Torley Linden: Darn you YouTube, please let me add more than 500 favorites!
Sexxy Dejavu: giggles
Daedalus Young: http://uk.youtube.com/group/slart
Torley Linden: I like too much stuff, that's the problem. ;)
Igel Hawks smiles
Gumby Roffo: :-)
Torley Linden: I haven't used YouTube groups per se that much yet.
Igel Hawks: hehe
Daedalus Young: me neither
Daedalus Young: only this one
Heiko Decatur: thats a nice shot Daedalus
Daedalus Young: thanks Heiko
Daedalus Young: of course helps to have a great subject
Daedalus Young: Starax in this case
Lyndsey Forager has never made a video and popped it on then net
Torley Linden: I highly recommend it, but that's only because I've enjoyed doing it. =)
Lyndsey Forager: i just dont know where to start
Daedalus Young: I started doing it a few years ago, before YouTube
Lyndsey Forager: i would love to give it a go
Daedalus Young: did a sort of news show with a friend
Heiko Decatur: i've been trying to make a basic video explaining how to mod our butterfly avatars but i'm having trouble finding software I like
Torley Linden: I suppose the key thing for me was just thinking in my head of what I wanted to share that I hadn't seen other people really do before... then think about it... then not think that much about it (so I didn't over-analyze), then... did it.
DJ Jenns: excuse me all but i have to go - rl shopping 0.o hoorah!
Torley Linden: Hmmm Heiko are you on Windows, Mac, ?
DJ Jenns: pleasure as always torley
Heiko Decatur: Windows
DJ Jenns: :-)
Torley Linden: OK DJ good to see ya, have fun!
Heiko Decatur: Bye Dj
DJ Jenns: bye everyone and lyndsey x
Daedalus Young: have fun DJ
Torley Linden: Heiko, I use FRAPS for video capture and Sony Vegas for editing.
Heiko Decatur searches
Torley Linden: I tried a bunch of editors but didn't find them to be very amenable... Vegas is great. Very easy to learn and use.
Daedalus Young: I used a Magix video editor on Windows
Daedalus Young: lots of effects, lots of channels
Lyndsey Forager: aww, missing him already
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Torley Linden: I've tried some others like Adobe Premiere but found them confusing for me.
Lyndsey Forager: Torley, did you get a chance to visit the gared i made?
Lyndsey Forager: ^garden
Torley Linden: BTW, for anyone curious, I started to detail my process of doing a video tutorial here, it's more of a tech-spec than a "user-friendly guide" but it helps me remember my workflow if I forget it: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Torley_Linden/FAQ
Torley Linden: Lyndsey I don't think I have yet, please refresh my memory where that's at? Did you send me a SLURL earlier? :)
Lyndsey Forager: i can drop you them LM
Daedalus Young looks at the faq
Heiko Decatur: oh excellent, thanks Torley
Torley Linden: Please do!
Lyndsey Forager: The hope is that it can be a place for live music
Torley Linden: And oh, that FAQ page is being fleshed out with more stuff, it's really just a raw sketch, a skeleton at the moment but I often get asked stuff that should be included there.
Torley Linden: Oooh great Lyndsey.
Daedalus Young: is this part of the tutorial? :P
Daedalus Young: There's pictures of nude people on the left-hand side of the Official Linden Blog! What do I do?
Daedalus Young: hehe
Torley Linden: Dae, yeah, that surprisingly comes up a fair bit... and it doesn't fit all that well in our Knowledge Base... haha altho I hope in the future we can link directly to KB articles.
Torley Linden: It bugs me that we can't at present.
Torley Linden: Ah Elation Island, cool Lyndsey.
Lyndsey Forager: he he
Lyndsey Forager: its a very empty island
Heiko Decatur: does make it a bit tricky at NCI
Daedalus Young: yes, that's a shame, but will be better if KB becomes more integrated with wiki, I think
Sexxy Dejavu: Would one of you Ladies care to sit I can stand if you like ?
Torley Linden: Oh gosh that reminds me, I did take one piccie of Elation (I like that word) the other day — http://www.flickr.com/photos/torley/1175785431/
Lyndsey Forager: but, the garden madkes about a fifth of the island
Daedalus Young: there's still a few chairs to be rezzed, no need to stand
Lyndsey Forager looks
Torley Linden: Yeah, if you'd like to have a seat please do!
Torley Linden: I'll have to check out the garden in focus then.
Igel Hawks: And I dont bite, even if I am looking green LOL
Sexxy Dejavu: Okies was just trying to offer its my first time here.
Torley Linden: I used to do more proper Second Life documentation in the older-style Knowledge Base but now it's Jeremy and Jon Linden's providence. :)
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Torley Linden: Yeah so glad you could make it here!
Igel Hawks: hehe
Sexxy Dejavu: Im eye ballin that darn watermellon i may get myself ban for theft today giggles .
Gumby Roffo: I still am a little preplexed at the road question from last week Tor.
Lyndsey Forager: lol, just got a txt from DJ Jenns, he says to try gamecame or gamecam lite for videos
Torley Linden: Has anyone else felt lately that their texture loading is slower than expected? Mine has been sucking pretty bad lately but I haven't changed anything with my network connection recently.
Torley Linden: Road question?
Gumby Roffo: I guess thats Eric's role or one of them
Torley Linden: ;)
Torley Linden: I can explain more about the roads... let me know?
Igel Hawks: I experienced this this week, yeah
Gumby Roffo: there are alot of sims with out
Sexxy Dejavu: My textures taks forever to load
Gumby Roffo: do they need a hand building them
Igel Hawks: And the textures are more broken then before
Daedalus Young: some textures don't fully load at all
Memnoch Matzerath: Here and there, sometimes they've been rezzing out, then in..
Daedalus Young: unless requested a second time
Heiko Decatur: I noticed texture lag in Kuula but Avaria's seemed fine
Torley Linden: I tried GameCam too -- what I like about it is that it can record compressed, what I don't like is it doesn't record uncompressed all that well (I like to have my vids at their highest quality when recording for encoding *later); has relatively high CPU usage too.
Heiko Decatur: and kuula is kuula
Daedalus Young: if you open one from inventory and it only half rezzes, close it and open again, now it will load
Lyndsey Forager: ah okes
Torley Linden: OK good to know, I notice texture sluggishness time to time... like yesterday it was really slow for me compared to last weekend.
Torley Linden: Ah OK with roads...
Torley Linden: Eric Linden did a lot of the originals, he's no longer at Linden Lab.
Gumby Roffo: ahhh
Torley Linden: We currently aren't building roads out on new continents and areas...
Torley Linden: I think an important part of all this is to get vehicles working physically better.
Daedalus Young: somebody asked about https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-602 at the General Triage
Torley Linden: Some people understandably get frustrated when they try to ride vehicles and then they sink into the road.
Igel Hawks: Yesterday was terrible with textures, yeah
Torley Linden: *checks*
Daedalus Young: and we were told to ask Jack Linden about it
Shinee Jewell apologises for her late appearance
Torley Linden: Yes, Jack is in Land & Concierge... there's a lot of protected land strips out there.
Torley Linden: I have been very, very impressed with roads on some Resident-run estates.
Daedalus Young: I often find roads with auto-return off
Torley Linden: You can prolly think of some examples!
Torley Linden: Yeah that is a prob too Dae...
Torley Linden: We actually have a way to batch-set parcels, but it hasn't been used much.
Torley Linden: That would save us the pain of having to change each parcel by hand.
Torley Linden: So, re: roadway construction, from what I know, Land & Concierge has been busy with so many other things, that roads have relatively not been a high priority.
Heiko Decatur: would the transition to a new havok engine help the vehicle physics or is more to do with the sim transition?
Torley Linden: Heiko: It should also help with vehicle physics -- more accurate collisions.
Gumby Roffo: LOL well I'll try not to look too forward to that
Torley Linden: Someone like Andrew knows a lot more about that, he continues to work on it with the people from Havok directly.
Heiko Decatur: Nifty
Torley Linden: Mustn't ever give up, I know it's been so long in the making.
Welcome Mat: Unable to give inventory: Blocked by permissions
Torley Linden: Hey Shinee, thanks again for the heads-up about your sculpted prim class, sorry I couldn't make it, but how'd that go?
Shinee Jewell: np Torley
Shinee Jewell: I'll pass you the transcript
Torley Linden: I did get to visit Peristeri Mall afterwards, I saw Mikayla Ares teaching an avatar class I think. Cool. :)
Shinee Jewell: Daed was there
Daedalus Young: though it's easier visually :P
Shinee Jewell: yes much easier
Torley Linden: I totally agree.
Torley Linden: Someday, our relative capacity to store video will be so much greater...
Torley Linden: just as it's so easy to copy text and still pictures nowadays.
Torley Linden: Gumby, I like that dog. =)
Torley Linden: That's a nice usage of sculpties right there!
Igel Hawks: hehe
Shinee Jewell: there was the most gorgeous 1 prim lucky chair
Gumby Roffo: Yes made by Jon Haskel
Daedalus Young: heh yes, I got a cube from it! :D
Gumby Roffo: he has an animated one that chases a ball
Lyndsey Forager: he he, i do like masks
Torley Linden: OH NICE!
Heiko Decatur: heh that scute
Torley Linden: I gotta see... yeah I am totally obsessed with finding kewl sculptie stuff.
Shinee Jewell: I got a screen cap in onenote
Torley Linden: I'd eventually like to learn to paint them better.
Lyndsey Forager: especially dressing up ones
Gumby Roffo: I'll see if hes on line
Torley Linden: Microsoft OneNote? I haven't used that in awhile.
Daedalus Young: Anjin Meili has done a character set too
Shinee Jewell: hehe
Torley Linden: Gumby BTW I like those colors you're wearing.
Igel Hawks: :-)
Daedalus Young: to be half embedded in a background
Torley Linden: Anjin taught me how to use SnurbO'Matic.
Heiko Decatur: I haven't tried that yet, does it work well?
Daedalus Young: in the sculpty garden at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Talakin/235/144/69 , for those interested
Torley Linden: Heiko: It works well for the limits it's come up against, yes... it's relatively slow but I think it's pretty ingenious.
Torley Linden: That's another thing I need in SL, a SLURLcatcher!
Heiko Decatur: pretty sneaky way of doing it
Torley Linden: Yes, very sly.
Heiko Decatur: the mystitool has one built in
Torley Linden: I currently use Sculptypaint to quickly do sculpt textures outside of SL.
Igel Hawks: yeah
Igel Hawks: it is really cool
Torley Linden: It does Heiko! Ah, cool.
Torley Linden: Gosh I'd like a solid repro for that bug that occasionally makes my SLURLs show the right region but wrong coordinates -- Daed knows about that.
Torley Linden: Anyone else ever seen that?
Daedalus Young: yeah
Nock Forager: here!
Torley Linden: Currently we're hoping to have some Quality Assurance folks look at it.
Igel Hawks: Here!
Heiko Decatur: honestly I never read the slurl I just hit it and see where I end up...
Nock Forager: I should reload SLURL.
Daedalus Young: it often happens when the map is closed and no beacon is yet set
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/12656
Torley Linden: I've had some times where it didn't even get me to the right region, but an *adjacent* one. Couldn't repro it tho. :\
Daedalus Young: but not always...
Torley Linden: Elusive bugs!
Nock Forager: Couldn't repro. oh.
Igel Hawks: I dont have a repro for it, too
Torley Linden: It is often key to finding the cause of a bug, to be able to do it reliably again and again.
Torley Linden: It's like "HEY I GOT YOU, YER NOT GETTING AWAY!"
Igel Hawks giggles
Daedalus Young: yes, I do programming in php, I know exactly how that works
Shinee Jewell: in a class last week I had someone ask me about typing latency where you type something and it either takes ages to register or appears out of order (and sometimes not at all) or your av keeps typing when you aren't doing it
Shinee Jewell: I was wondering...
Torley Linden: Shinee, I've definitely seen that too.
Daedalus Young: that happens in high lag areas
Shinee Jewell: could it be related to the fact we can type in chat in 2 different places these days?
Daedalus Young: no, it was there before we could already
Torley Linden: *nod*
Shinee Jewell: ie in the near me window as well as the chat line
Igel Hawks: yeah
Torley Linden: Those controls are on the viewer-side...
Heiko Decatur: sounds like a combination of chat lag and animation lag
Igel Hawks: BRB
Torley Linden: It feels a bit weird sometimes.
Daedalus Young: packet loss perhaps, somewhere in the communication is lost that the typing has stopped
Torley Linden: It's like "Where it did it? Wait... oh there, it showed up!"
Shinee Jewell: yes lol
Daedalus Young: it's annoying with SL Trivia too
Heiko Decatur: heh people get so competetive at that
Torley Linden: Timed responses?
Torley Linden: I used to play SL trivia a LOT.
Heiko Decatur: I played it at the shelter so much I started just remmebering the questions
Daedalus Young: haha
Shinee Jewell: lol
Daedalus Young: then at least you learned something from it
Torley Linden: Wow, the questions started repeating? @_@
Torley Linden: Haha good point, memory recall.
Torley Linden: It's like Groundhog Day, one of my fave movies -- anyone else ever seen that?
Torley Linden: The whole Jeopardy thing in it.
Heiko Decatur: Oh my god I didn't click that was a sand worm
Shinee Jewell: oh Palomma Casanova asked me to say hi to you Torley
Daedalus Young: they should do that at schools, all day long the Trivia game
Lyndsey Forager: i love that film
Torley Linden: HAHAHA HEIKO!
Torley Linden: Yes, I am a massive, massive Dune fan.
Lyndsey Forager: two of my other fav films ate the color purple and rabbit proof fence
Heiko Decatur: I just started reading the first one last week, i've read one of the ones by his son though
Torley Linden: Lyndsey: I haven't seen either of those, just heard of them... so far.
Torley Linden: Heiko: Oooh.
Lyndsey Forager: well worth watching
Torley Linden: Dune is great because it works on so many levels...
Torley Linden: it has ecological themes, but it also has fantastic elements... genetic engineering... romance... etc.
Gumby Roffo: Evangeline Wind is not to well< otherwise she would have been here as well
Torley Linden: A lot of great quotes from it.
Lyndsey Forager: but then, there is always a special place in my heart for braveheart
Lyndsey Forager: lol
Heiko Decatur: the eugenics bit of it freaks me out a little
Torley Linden: If anyone's seen that video where Christopher Walken dances funny to Fatboy Slim music, the name of that song is actually a Dune reference.
Torley Linden: Aw Gumby! :\
Heiko Decatur: walk without rythm...
Jansen Miles: Braveheart pioneered digital violence. :)
Torley Linden: Braveheart I really enjoyed too, sad ending.
Lyndsey Forager: thats a brill video, its like it is rubber
Torley Linden: WON'T ATTRACT THE WORM!
Torley Linden: Yeah, Chris Walken is a great dancer.
Gumby Roffo: But she sends her regards
Heiko Decatur: I've never made it all the way through braveheart
Lyndsey Forager: F R E E D O M
Lyndsey Forager: LOL
Torley Linden: Aw please send my regards back!
Torley Linden: That speech in Braveheart is great -- I also like Last of the Mohicans.
Torley Linden: Movies like that make me wanna run through open plains.
Lyndsey Forager: ha ha
Heiko Decatur: I'll walk thanks, les chance of aggrivating the stealth badgers
Jansen Miles is awaiting his Amazon shipped copy of David Lynch's "Inland Empire" with which he will surely rend his friends' minds.
Lyndsey Forager: well, sorry, but i better love you and leave you - hope you have a fun day everyone :)
Igel Hawks: back
Heiko Decatur: Bye Lyndsey
Jansen Miles: But I love Lynch's interpretation of Dune, too.
Phli Foxchase: <238,42,510>
Daedalus Young: you have fun too Lyndsey
Phli Foxchase: ous
Sexxy Dejavu: bye hun have an awesome day
Phli Foxchase: (sorry)
Torley Linden: Aww take care Lyndsey!
Phli Foxchase: Bye Lyndsey
Torley Linden: I really liked Lynch's Dune, despite deviations from the book.
Gumby Roffo: hey wasn't that the TP for Sexyland?
IM: Richard Noonan: on all of the storeess
Igel Hawks: :-)
Torley Linden: Sexyland? =D
Gumby Roffo: JK
Jansen Miles: All of Lynch's movies make you feel like you're on an alien planet, so he was perfect. :)
Torley Linden: Haha, yeah, those subtle shifts in reality...
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/12657
Torley Linden: Open to interpretation...
Heiko Decatur: I haven't seen his movie, i've seen the sci fi channels mini series though
Torley Linden: he also did a very, very crazy cigarette ad.
Igel Hawks: Sorry, I have to leave now. maybe we will see us at 3 PM
Torley Linden: OK, take care Igel! And my next office hour is at 2 PM PDT today.
Torley Linden: Thanks for coming.
Heiko Decatur: Bye Igel
Daedalus Young: bye Igel
Igel Hawks: Oh, thx. :-)
Phli Foxchase: Bye Igel
Torley Linden: Can you tell what this commercial is selling? Haha... http://youtube.com/watch?v=vor65mNB8Uk
Igel Hawks: A bit confused today
Igel Hawks: Take care
Igel Hawks: and bye for now
Jansen Miles: The Sci Fi miniseries by John Harrison was more faithful to the novel, and much more bland than Lynch's.
Torley Linden: Jansen, I love the soundtrack to the miniseries...
Torley Linden: it is so amazingly passionate.
Torley Linden: Such GREAT MELODIES.
Torley Linden: OMG.
Jansen Miles: Yeah. I'll have to revisit that. I have it on DVD.
Torley Linden: Harkonnen in both interpretations is a great villain.
Torley Linden: Whether he's manical or more methodical...
JayR Cela: good morning every-one / yawn :_)
Torley Linden: Good morning JayR!
Jansen Miles: John Harrison himself is a composer. He did Creepshow armed only with a piano and a Prophet V.
Heiko Decatur: Harkonnens are creepy in all guises
Torley Linden: Wow, I didn't know that...
JayR Cela: hi torlry
Heiko Decatur: and what on earth was that man smoking
Torley Linden: Prophet V, classic synth!
Torley Linden: Heiko: Hahahaha.
Jansen Miles: Love the Creepshow score. Stupid and wonderful at the same time!
JayR Cela: say I have a question please ?
Rock Pond Pose ball: llStopAnimation: Script trying to stop animations but agent not found
Sexxy Dejavu: i must go everyone thank you all for the sweet time and do stop by to say hi im on the sim Dejavu hugs and blessed day to all
Torley Linden: I like minimalist music a lot, esp. for horror -- e.g., John Carpenter's Halloween theme.
Torley Linden: Please do ask JayR
Torley Linden: =)
Torley Linden: Have a good day Sexxy!
Heiko Decatur: Bye Sexxy
Phli Foxchase: Bye Sexxy
Gumby Roffo: Later Sexy
Jansen Miles: Love Lynch. And Cronenberg. I love the weird stuff.
Daedalus Young: bye
Gumby Roffo: x
Torley Linden: Hey, what do ya think of Lynch and Cronenberg teaming up to do something together?
JayR Cela: has any one noticed a difference in the way that the Linux client and the windows client handles loading your inventorys??
Torley Linden: I love to see more emotions expressed in SL... we are hopefully getting better shadowing in the future that will help with spooky stuff too.
Heiko Decatur: i've never used the linux client so I can't say
Jansen Miles: Heheh. You don't get much more minimalist than Carpenter. Nope. Creepshow is very simple, too. A lot of nursery tunes warped with bender and put to a minor key.
Torley Linden: I haven't tried the Linux client in a *long* time so I wouldn't know that.
Torley Linden: Jansen: Apt description, that sounds very appealing.
Nock Forager: How different it is?
Torley Linden: Creepshow... I'm a big Romero and King fan.
Alexandra Rucker: never used linux client here either.... though I have noticed more lag since intro of voice to the grid...
JayR Cela: yesterday It took me 3 hours and 30 re-loggs to get my inventory of 23,000 items to load under windows ......
Heiko Decatur: Hi Psyra :)
Psyra Extraordinaire: Allo Heiko. :>
Torley Linden: And by the way guys, if voice starts badly stuttering at around 2 PM PDT, that's known about -- peak load issues causing problems with that. I was talking to a couple of the Vivox guys yesterday helping LL with it.
JayR Cela: but with the Linux client only took 15 minutes and 3 re-loggs
Daedalus Young: and I thought -I- had a huge inventory
Memnoch Matzerath: psyrawr!
Torley Linden: JayR: And I presume you cleared cache first?
Torley Linden: Heyhey Psyra!
Alexandra Rucker: Torley, I've noticed it middle-of-LL-night too
Psyra Extraordinaire: I couldn't bring myself to wake up an hour ago. ;D
Heiko Decatur: heh
Torley Linden: Alexandra: OK, good to know, at what time precisely and what region were you in?
Daedalus Young: I know the feeling, Psyra
Heiko Decatur: Almost midnight here and I am wide awake on caffine
Jansen Miles: My pet peeve of the week is the low resolution of skins and clothing on avs. Are we going to see that go up any time soon, or can we just upload more detailed templates and get more detail?
Alexandra Rucker: Torley, many of the affected regions (islands) had signs or other notifications stating "voice enabled sim"
Torley Linden: Jansen, I think they're currently 512x512 aren't they?
JayR Cela: torley yes / both times i cleared my cache and also did a complete fresh install with the windows client ..... that included wioing out all the hidden files under the documents and setting's directory with windows
Gumby Roffo: mm my linux client fails to load during login
Psyra Extraordinaire: Someone doesn't understand the concept of 'personal space' :(
Daedalus Young: a 1024x1024 texture should work for clothing, but it takes longer to load
Alexandra Rucker: Torley, I'm not using the voice client - I'm using nicholaz old-school non-voice version, and still getting all this :(
Daedalus Young: 512 is a good mix between loading and detail
Heiko Decatur: the voice servers are seperate to the sim servers
Torley Linden: Alexandra: The voice stuttering is server-side...
Torley Linden: and what Heiko said too.
Memnoch Matzerath: I've noticed audio lag, like a jittering of the type sound, yet no obvious packet loss associated to it. Like I could move fine.
Alexandra Rucker: Heiko, *something* is laggign them more then.... whether it's voice or something else, I lack the knowledge to differentiate
Psyra Extraordinaire: People will still claim, hell or high water, that voice causes sim lag. :D
Jansen Miles: Torley: 512x512 with massive JPG compression.
Torley Linden: OK, what I was referring to earlier was voice stuttering.
Torley Linden: Like, specifically, you're talking on voice... and it gets ultra-choppy.
Heiko Decatur: heh, my witch at the stake this month is the asset server, if something goes wrong its the asset servers fault
Alexandra Rucker: I just know that lately, even with the nicholaz no-voice client, I'm having problems equivalent to what DROVE me to the nicholaz version in the first place
Shinee Jewell: yes I've heard tha
Torley Linden: Jansen: I don't know of any projects to increase detail yet but I know we are working on avatar texture pipeline improvements to make current avatar appearances load *faster*.
Daedalus Young: so no more ruthing
Torley Linden: Alexandra: That is sure frustrating; I was mentioning earlier that I've had very slow texture loading personally.
Daedalus Young: or less at least
JayR Cela: torley that is part of the windlight project ??
Jansen Miles: Gotcha.
Torley Linden: Daedalus: Ruthing is separate but related, that will still be an issue -- that is a much more complicated issue than it seems to fix at the root, a bunch of devs had a discussion about it last week.
Psyra Extraordinaire: I've seen very few Missing Texture avvies that *stay* that way... within 30-40 seconds the textures eventually do load, and without needing rebakes.
Renik Sakai: howdy
Daedalus Young: ok
Heiko Decatur: Oh, that reminds me, Torley could I ask what is the music that plays on the windlight video on youtube, I really like it?
Torley Linden: JayR: Avatar texture pipeline is *separate* from WindLight. WindLight does have a lot of rendering optimizations but they are more concerned with inworld environment than avatars per se.
Torley Linden: Heiko: Oh let me get a link for that. =)
Jansen Miles: I would argue that 512x512 is insufficient for facial detail at a decent level of verisimilitude, but baby steps.
Heiko Decatur: yay
Alexandra Rucker: Torley, there are also many many freezing issues, I don't know if they're related.... jira tickets like this one: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2051 abound like rabbits :)
Jansen Miles: Since the face part of the texture is roughly 200x200 or less.
Torley Linden: Jansen: I agree higher resolution would be better too and hopefully the current way things are can perform better too... we actually use JPG2000 for inworld texture assets, different than "normal" JPG.
Daedalus Young: yes, you're right there
Jansen Miles: Nods.
Torley Linden: Alexandra: Ah yes I've sure had that too, interestingly Soft mentioned that the freezing appears to have originated before the Voice viewer...
Nock Forager: Is it so diffrent? between JPG2000 and normal one.
Daedalus Young: if we could have one 1024x1024 texture for the entire body, that would solve some thinks already, I think
Daedalus Young: more detail on less download
Alexandra Rucker: Wasn't voice hooked into the grid before the voice viewer came out?
Nock Forager: hmhm
Psyra Extraordinaire: JPG2000 seems very similiar to PNG from the specs.
Psyra Extraordinaire: All the colors, half the artifacting.
Heiko Decatur: ALexadnra i've had that problem long before voice
Torley Linden: Alexandra: We did some preparations but this may go even further back -- I'm not sure of those details.
Nock Forager: JPG2000 tend to small sized and more detailed..hum
Jansen Miles: JPG2K was specifically chosen by LL for it's progressive loading feature, I think.
Heiko Decatur: actually i've had that problem for aslong as i've been a resident
Jansen Miles: So that textures could rez in.
Torley Linden: Heiko, THE MUSIC! http://www.archive.org/download/Torley_Wong_-_The_Final_Selection/Torley_Wong-Karmacoda_-_All_That_Depth__Torley_Wong_s_Dub_.mp3
Heiko Decatur: thank you!
Nock Forager: I should try that :-)
Heiko Decatur: I has been palying the video over and over again cause of that music
Psyra Extraordinaire: Heh, the way old interlaced GIF used to work back in the old Netscape/Mosaic days. :D
Torley Linden: Glad you dig the track, I wanted to use something very high-energy.
Torley Linden: I remember interlaced GIFs! I remember seeing my first animated GIFs.
Torley Linden: And by the way for anyone who doesn't know yet, we can upload PNGs directly into Second Life now.
Heiko Decatur: Do not speak of the dark days, for we have travelled into the light of mozilla
Jansen Miles: Me too. I'm old. *sigh*
Heiko Decatur: we can what now?
Daedalus Young: heh yes, my brother would exchange diskettes at school with gif and mod
Heiko Decatur: How did I not know this!
Torley Linden: They're advantageous over TGA for non-transparent textures (32-bit), because they're lossless compression, smaller size.
Psyra Extraordinaire: PNG = better compression than TGA, and no loss of quality like JPG
Alexandra Rucker: I forgot we can do .png's now.... :)
Torley Linden: Yes, an open source contributor helped us add this.
Torley Linden: Like Psyra said!
Daedalus Young: jpeg2000 also supports lossless compression
Torley Linden: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-79
Psyra Extraordinaire: But it doesn't support PNG alpha, I tried that. :D
Daedalus Young: I'd love to see that on 64x64 texture (sculpts)
Daedalus Young: jpeg2000 supports alpha, iirc
Heiko Decatur: lots of things do supports PNG alpha unfortunetly for my poor website designs, my lectuers were most irrate
Torley Linden: Yeah... hmmm... that would be somethng. Good question for Periapse and Qarl Linden (who're working on sculpties, I know they're concerned about those artifacts too).
Jansen Miles: JPG2K is wavelet and wavelet righteously rocks. But LL has the compression set aggressively high IMHO.
Alexandra Rucker: heh, I'd be happy if I can manage to make a sculpt - blender makes my eyes glaze, and sculptypaint I can't seem to do one with straight lines :(
Psyra Extraordinaire uses PNG exclusively for webpage work.
Daedalus Young: I always compress my own photos on individual basis
Daedalus Young: some can have more compression than others
Torley Linden: Alexander: Aw. :\ Have you suggested to Cel Edman (author of Sculptypaint?) What sort of straight lines? (As obvious as that might seem, I know.)
Heiko Decatur: my lecturers would chase you with sharp impliments shouting things about internet explorer
Torley Linden: I archive a lot of stuff in PNG.
Jansen Miles: But I understand we are moving a lot of texture data about.
Torley Linden: Faster decompression time than JPG2000 too, at least in my experience.
Daedalus Young: yes, I use png for all things lossless
Alexandra Rucker: Torley, I haven't yet due to RL insanity... wasn't sure how receptive s/he was to suggestions from folks not normally seen as dev types
Jansen Miles: Png is great. I just finished designing a document imaging system around it.
Torley Linden: *nod*
Nock Forager: Does SL Server contain these pictures as original format? like PNG, JPG...
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/12658
Torley Linden: Nock: Not that I know of, offhand... we have terabytes upon terabytes of assets...
Daedalus Young: afaik, images are jpegged in the viewer
Psyra Extraordinaire: Heh, could almost see SL getting animated gif support at some point. And SL would turn into a virtual representation of the 'Net from 1991 or so. :D
Jansen Miles: Compressed and stored on upload.
Daedalus Young: before upload
Nock Forager: I though the server convert them into JPG.
Alexandra Rucker: Psyra, eek scary....
Torley Linden: Hmmm it'd be intriguing to get metrics of how much stuff is actually stored on our servers.
Heiko Decatur: I'd like flash support, steaming flash movies would be nice
Psyra Extraordinaire: Well, it does support them on webpages in profiles and all. :D
Daedalus Young: if SL would start using animated gifs, then at least make it animated pngs!
Daedalus Young: mng, that is
Psyra Extraordinaire: Flash is partially supported through Quicktime.
Torley Linden: Yeah, Heiko, I agree, we want to have that.
Torley Linden: Yeah, older Flash can play in QT but sadly newer stuff like YouTube can't without some hackiness...
Psyra Extraordinaire: But I found a lot of flash stuff that just does not work in here.
Psyra Extraordinaire: A lot of things with "click to starts" don't work. :(
Daedalus Young: see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mng
Psyra Extraordinaire: Since you can't click.
JayR Cela: how about integrated DIVX support any work being done with that format ??
Torley Linden: More interactivity would be great for all sorts of wall panels and displays...
Daedalus Young: no, that's too bad
Torley Linden: instead of using kludgy, slow-responding prim buttons in some cases.
Heiko Decatur: maybe if we all focus our will on pressing start!
Jansen Miles: Saijanai Kuhn and I were discussing yesterday the merits of supporting vector textures.
Torley Linden: Intriguing, I'm not all that familiar with MNG.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Divx, or RMVB would be nice.
Heiko Decatur: vector textures, that would be interesting
Daedalus Young: I'd also like to see side-specific touch
Alexandra Rucker: .mp4?
Daedalus Young: so for cubes, you have 6 possible click points
Torley Linden: Vector textures? Similar to having live procedural texture generation?
Jansen Miles: My arm tattoos would look a heck of a lot better in vector. :)
Torley Linden: Daed, yeah, that'd save on prims in a number of cases too.
JayR Cela: I say DIVX because it has been finding its way into many consumer DVD players lately
Jansen Miles: Assuming it's rasterized at a decent size.
Psyra Extraordinaire: Divx file at 1.4 gigs: Near-DVD quality movie. RMVB file at 300 megs: Near-DVD quality movie.
Heiko Decatur: MNG files are used for picture themes on my mobile phone
Torley Linden: It's intriguing how a lot of these compression schemes play with human perception...
Torley Linden: and how we're able to discern differents.
Torley Linden: *differences.
Jansen Miles: Well, you know, vector scales well. :)
Daedalus Young: yes, like how xyztext uses 3 sides of one prim, you could do that with touches too
Torley Linden: I'll be helping Tofu out with a sort of audio encoding test later.
Torley Linden: I love how vector scales well. :D
Daedalus Young: one prim for 3 buttons
Torley Linden: Hehe, I like my smooth vector logos!
Heiko Decatur: i <3 illustrator
Jansen Miles: And you can do some really nice stuff with vectors with a low byte count.
Heiko Decatur: Although inkscape isn't bad
Daedalus Young: vectors are cool yes, I'm using that since corelDraw 4 :P
JayR Cela: Torley i would like to IM briefly please ??
Torley Linden: I like Illustrator but some parts of it are oddly out of sync with Photoshop, I expected the look 'n' feel to be more similar in some areas due to their "Creative Suite" packaging.
Psyra Extraordinaire: All that SL needs to fix flash would be to add a few script settings that can be set on the surface(prim) used to play that allows us to llFlashJumpTo (or such) frame of choice. So we could make clickable ways to bypass intros and such. ;)
Gumby Roffo: Well Thanks again for the ineteresting listen in
Gumby Roffo: Pumkin time here
Heiko Decatur: the next version cs3 is surpose to make all of their creative products more unified in terms of UI
Heiko Decatur: although I haven't seen it yet
Jansen Miles: Oog. I remember Illustrator 4.1 right when Adobe aquired it. If you want to see "out of sync with Photoshop"!
Torley Linden: I'd like to thank each and every one of you for coming to visit and discuss varied topics with me... I like how we travel from one to another! =) I must be going now, but I hope you have a lovely day... I'll be doing another office hour here at 2 PM PDT today if you can make it.
Psyra Extraordinaire: I'll stick to my Photoshop 7.0.1 ..... I can't shell out $2400 for CS3. :D
Psyra Extraordinaire: Even the cheap educational one is $700. :D
Alexandra Rucker: YEOUCH
Daedalus Young: I'll stick with GIMP
Torley Linden: JayR, pardon, can you please send me an email? (torley@lindenlab.com) IMs aren't a good medium for reaching me.
Heiko Decatur: it was great talking to you and everyone here :)
Torley Linden: I LOVE A GOOD BARGAIN!!!!
Torley Linden: Moreso!
Psyra Extraordinaire: TC, Torley. :>
Moard Ling: /Thanks
Torley Linden: Bye fer now! =D
Gumby Roffo: TTFN
JayR Cela: torley / yes thank you
Daedalus Young: bye Torley!
Nock Forager: Thanks to having this meeting. have a nice day for all!
Jansen Miles: Later!
Torley Linden: Ta!

2 PM

Torley Linden: Heyhey everyone!
Daedalus Young: though that must be horror for Torley
Torley Linden: I have arrived!
Theodore Folsom: Hullows Torley ^^
Daedalus Young: hi Torley
MenuBar Memorial: WOOT Hi Torley!
Torley Linden: What's up!
Squirrel Wood: A Torley's up ^^
Daedalus Young: watermelon horror: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OA6v7BVBcEU
Torley Linden: Hmmm I'll have a look in a sec!
Torley Linden: Glad to see you all here!
Daedalus Young: glad to be here
MenuBar Memorial: Nice Vidtut today Torley
Daedalus Young: yes, very useful too
Daedalus Young: in the older viewers was a useful bug for at concerts
Torley Linden: *scrolls up*
Torley Linden: Why thank you!
Patchouli Woollahra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZwB8Gf38S8 <-- more horrifying watermelons.
Daedalus Young: if you Muted your sound, everything was muted, except the streaming audio
Torley Linden: Glad you liked it... I totally wanted to share that because I was tired of all the clickity-clacking at concerts.
Patchouli Woollahra: so it's true - given enough velocity, even a swarm of melons can be deadly.
Daedalus Young: which was great for concerts, one click and you only had the music you wanted to hear
Torley Linden: And I know the sound slider wasn't sufficient for some, and the / at the beginning of every line was a chore to remember for others.
Patchouli Woollahra: I just had my wildcat wired for sound.
Multi Gadget v1.52.0 by Timeless Prototype
MenuBar Memorial: I got a big kick out of those going "OMG! THIS RUINS EVERYTHING!!!" haha
Torley Linden: Haha I know that rotting watermelon one! I've sent it around!
Daedalus Young: yes, I do the double slash often, but forget to set it back at channel 0 sometimes :P
Grey Kurka: Maybe a quicker shortcut for that in the future
Squirrel Wood: wb theo
Patchouli Woollahra loves Lit Fuse Films - it makes HalfLife look cool.
Theodore Folsom: *pet pets Birdy*
Patchouli Woollahra: huh, funny, I don't recall wearing a bowler hat.
Torley Linden: Yeah... making stuff like that more accessible. The Debug Settings can be like a black box so it's really nice to make it more accessible.
Torley Linden: I'm not familiar iwth Lit Fuse Films... yet.
Patchouli Woollahra: it's this guy Zachariah Scott.
Daedalus Young: I also set my zoomtime in the Debug menu to 1 second
Patchouli Woollahra: he does cool things with GMod.
Daedalus Young: I like it smoother
Torley Linden: OK, Squirrel's attachments haven't loaded for me, this is likely wrong.
Theodore Folsom: thats that Torus which will crash sims if turned physical Squirs ?
Patchouli Woollahra: like the Molonpocalypse.
Squirrel Wood: nope
Patchouli Woollahra: Melonpocalypse
Squirrel Wood: not yet
Grey Kurka: I kinda got carried away in there and messup lol
Daedalus Young: it looks nice
Squirrel Wood: brb
Daedalus Young: now a cool texture on it
Torley Linden: Holy MOLY!
Torley Linden: My viewport went all weird!
Patchouli Woollahra: has anyone tried to go hunting for the SLCC events so far?
Torley Linden: I had my camera on Squirrel and then it suddenly went farrrr away.
Daedalus Young: oh! what happened?
Torley Linden: No Patchouli, where are they!??
Torley Linden: I don't know. :O
Torley Linden: I think I was just trying to track Squirrel across long range.
Rosuto Kanami: HEHEEEE
Daedalus Young: I only have that when my mouse goes off the pad
Rosuto Kanami: hiya torley
Patchouli Woollahra was at Artificial Isle.
Daedalus Young: the laser doesn't understand it anymore
Squirrel Wood: What's todays hot topic?
Patchouli Woollahra: they were having a sumo match today, as well as a Asian fashions spectacular.
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Patchouli Woollahra: rigging for voice - anyone doing it to their avatars?
JayR Cela: get a TP without loosing attachments / please / please / please / LOL :_)
Patchouli Woollahra: does anyone notice anything about my mouth?
Daedalus Young: rigging what?
Patchouli Woollahra: rigging their avatars to respond when they type or speak.
Daedalus Young: oh yes, it moves
Daedalus Young: a new ao type
Grey Kurka: My cat is allergic to christmass ress, her mouth does that around them
Patchouli Woollahra: it works even better when I bust out the VOip.
Torley Linden: I'm always up for topic free-for-fall, haha.
Torley Linden: I love going through chaos and seeing what patterns happen...
Rosuto Kanami: i think i have good idea ?
Grey Kurka: \]=[=[=[=[=[=[=[=[=[...oh a message from my cat
Torley Linden: I'd like to have some better voice gestures that's for sure.
Torley Linden: Any stores selling them yet?
Daedalus Young: cool, Patch
Torley Linden: Haha Grey that's so funny.
Squirrel Wood: http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=297916&random=86414 <= MuzzleTalk
Rosuto Kanami: what do you think that of differant Avatar shapeing system
Patchouli Woollahra: it's pretty hard to improve on the voice gestures if you're human.
Torley Linden: So for all of you who haven't been here before, this is my Office Hour, and we often talk about whatever comes up, but usually centering around topics like the Issue Tracker and various oddities and cool places inworld.
Patchouli Woollahra: most improvements off of VoIP gestures will probably have to come in combination with a species switch.
Torley Linden: And of course welcome back everyone who visits me regularly. =)
Torley Linden: A complete (mostly) list of Linden Office Hours can be found here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Office_Hours
Daedalus Young: that's one of the pages I have always open in a tab
Torley Linden: Oh kewl. You're really good with it, Daedalus.
Daedalus Young: thanks
Daedalus Young: I have some good exp with wikipedia
Torley Linden: Patchouli: Why do ya say that?
Torley Linden: I'm not satisfied with the default ones... I want voice gestures that have me wave at a big projector screen showing a picture of RL me or something.
Torley Linden: That MuzzleTalk looks pretty neat!
Daedalus Young: I haven't done much with Voice yet
Daedalus Young: listened in a few times at Welcome Areas
Torley Linden: I've used Voice mainly for internal meetings, the attenuation is too confusing for me right now, I'd like a more even volume...
Torley Linden: too many people I've come across with maladjusted ics.
Torley Linden: *mics
Grey Kurka: Very true
Daedalus Young: yes, I'm afraid mine'll be too low currently
Torley Linden: I can turn them up but that doesn't have the same even-ing effect on overall dynamic range.
Patchouli Woollahra: yes, yes it is... if you're either a talented builder or sbuying a avatar with it built in.
Daedalus Young: having only the internal Mic
Patchouli Woollahra: it's easier with nonhuman avatars.
Torley Linden: Yeah... and even amplitude isn't necessarily indicative of frequency.
Patchouli Woollahra: jaw waggle > playing multiple layers of face animation.
Torley Linden: It's tricky!
Torley Linden: Some people have loud volume but sound very tinny, or muffled.
Torley Linden: Haha, the word "waggle" makes me laugh.
Patchouli Woollahra: Oh, I plaead guilty with that.
Grey Kurka: Our rl ears can focus like eyes, you realize more in here with voice
Torley Linden: That's a great point Grey.
MenuBar Memorial: crows waggle all the time
Torley Linden: I get thrown off because I hear people's background noise...
Daedalus Young: yes, one time there was a convo between one person speaking softly at a loud volume and one person speaking normal on low volume
Daedalus Young: that was hard to follow
Torley Linden: like I was in a quiet park the other day and someone had voice with an ambulance wailing. It was very distracting.
Torley Linden: Yes, that confuses me a lot too Daedalus.
Patchouli Woollahra: zombie-style melon rampage: http://litfusefilms.com/movieimg/a16b6e87273326d6cb6d76b16bcf46e1.jpg
Daedalus Young: heh, I had that with someone transmitting UI sounds
Grey Kurka: Good for ADD awareness
Torley Linden: HAHAHAHAAH. OMG...
Torley Linden: THUNDERMELON!?!?!?!
Torley Linden: I love this!
Wyn Galbraith belatedly waves as she has RL issues today.
Torley Linden: *bookmarks*
Torley Linden: Aww Wyn, are things alrite?
Patchouli Woollahra: yeah, you should see the video.
Torley Linden: OK I'll make a committment to watch THUNDERMELON 2: THE MELONACOLYPE (made me feel good just saying that).
Wyn Galbraith: Yeah, BF came home early and I'm fixing a church in Crocket's computer... Ah a Raven I should have worn mine!
Patchouli Woollahra: those guys rock, their Ballad of Black Mesa is nothing more than lots of Stomp-style gunfire.
Wyn Galbraith: Two!
Torley Linden: Ravens!
Torley Linden: Reminds me of Jack Handey...
Patchouli Woollahra: Forevermore!
Wyn Galbraith: Should have called me
Rosuto Kanami pecks at menu bar ^_^
Wyn Galbraith would have dressed.
Torley Linden: Haha, what a great pair of avs...
Torley Linden: you guys are great.
Wyn Galbraith: One of my favorate birds.
JayR Cela: say has anyone checked out Artificial Isle yet today ??
Patchouli Woollahra: Mia and Meta are having fun at SLCC this year.
Wyn Galbraith: How are you Torley?
MenuBar Memorial: these have a talking anim for voice too - like nuzzletalk
Patchouli Woollahra: I can't seem to find teh mushrooms.
Rosuto Kanami: im afraid if this place was RL you would be homeless torley for i would eat this entire build
MenuBar Memorial: muzzletalk I mean heh
Torley Linden: I'm doing great thanks, wrapping up a week well, it's been busy. But then again, when is it not? Always something going on.
Torley Linden: Where are the SLCC events inworld?
Torley Linden: I have no clue.
MenuBar Memorial: although nuzzletalk sounds fun too haha
Wyn Galbraith thinks the seats are candy.
Patchouli Woollahra: all over the grid, Torly.
Patchouli Woollahra: one of the events is a fashion hunt.
Torley Linden: *tries searching Events for the first time in, uh, a couple weeks*
JayR Cela: Torley the SLCC inworld is at Artificial Isle I beleave
Patchouli Woollahra: normally expensive fashions on sale for L$0 in mushrooms.
Torley Linden: Thanks JayR.
Torley Linden: Haha clothes in mushrooms, what'll they think of next!?
Patchouli Woollahra: There' also a hunt for a magical L$1000 Eight.
Wyn Galbraith: Artificial Isle.
Torley Linden: What's a L$1000 Eight?
Torley Linden: *makes a note of Artificial Isle*
Torley Linden: Thanx too Wyn!
Wyn Galbraith needs some Lindens :)
Patchouli Woollahra: it's an 8-shaped prim worth L$1000 if found.
Patchouli Woollahra: oh noez, domokunz!
Tree Kyomoon: hey ho folks!
JayR Cela: Wyn yeah I just saw the notice when I logged on is supposed to be in-world live coverage of the SLCC event in Chicago
Torley Linden: DOMO ARIGATO, DOMO-KUN!
Wyn Galbraith: Hey Tree!
Torley Linden: I always like having such a colorful cast of avatars at my place.
Tree Kyomoon: anyone in Chicago?
Rosuto Kanami: nihongo desu ka torley kun ?
Patchouli Woollahra just banned a guy at NCi Beeach about an hour ago.
Torley Linden: I wish I could speak more Japanese Rosuto. I do not, sadly.
Patchouli Woollahra: he was doing the Yawaraka Tank... but really messing up.
Rosuto Kanami: oki doki ^_^
Patchouli Woollahra: Yaranaika tank more like.
Torley Linden: I'm not familiar with that.
Daedalus Young: I only know nan-ji desu ka
Patchouli Woollahra: everyone
JayR Cela: Tree I would have went because is only a 4 hour drive for me ~ but Allas I'm broke / boo-hooo
JayR Cela: lol
Torley Linden: Haha thanks Rosuto. :)
Wyn Galbraith's son is learning Japanese in college.
Patchouli Woollahra: everyone I know in Second Life is doing something important.
Daedalus Young: but that's not very useful if you can't understand the answer :P
Rosuto Kanami: you iwll liek ^^
Torley Linden: World's so rich with culture...
Patchouli Woollahra: Hamlet is in Beijing at the Say It Loud metaversal festival.
Patchouli Woollahra: Some of the MillionsOfUs Guys are in Singapore at State Of Play V.
Tree Kyomoon wonders if torley is broadcasting live from chicago :)
Torley Linden: I'm not at SLCC.
Wyn Galbraith: Torley is home.
Patchouli Woollahra: someone has to hold the fort.
Wyn Galbraith: Well, here, home SF home ;)
Torley Linden: Hope peeps be having fun there.
Torley Linden: Yes, I'm still in the Canadian forest.
Patchouli Woollahra: besides, Canada and America are not THAT close to each other.
Tree Kyomoon: guarding all the secrets from Hipihi?
Torley Linden: HAHAHA.
Tree Kyomoon: :)
Torley Linden: OMG that makes me laugh Tree.
Wyn Galbraith: Canada? I thought you were in SF ;)
Torley Linden: Planning my rebellion strike force to take back GOOD PIANOS.
Torley Linden: When I see a lame piano, it makes me CRINGE.
Torley Linden: Like cr-r-r-r-riiiiiiiiiinge. :(
Patchouli Woollahra: Yes, there will be a Hipihi official at bvoth SOPV and the Say It Loud festival.
JayR Cela: Tree / what can you tell os of HiPiHi
Wyn Galbraith found some good pianos.
Tree Kyomoon: you saw those lame piano pics on the hipihi site?
Patchouli Woollahra: basically, it's Second LIfe.
Torley Linden: Well I signed up for a HiPiHi account so I hope I can try it for myself.
Patchouli Woollahra: With lamer setups.
Torley Linden: Tree: Yes.
Squirrel Wood: Ooo! Torley! Bookmark http://www.tale-of-tales.com/TheEndlessForest/ ^^
Tree Kyomoon: I can tell you that hipihi doesnt work on any of my windows computers/configurations and the docs are lame
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Torley Linden: I don't wanna pass judgment on the actual contents without going through them!
Patchouli Woollahra: also: I don't think it will scale properly.
Torley Linden: Squirrel I liked playing that, with the light rays and all, but I didn't have much to do there.
Wyn Galbraith: http://secondwynd.typepad.com/
Patchouli Woollahra did some exploration.
JayR Cela: Torley they want an aweful lot of personal info to register
Patchouli Woollahra: no, really. it sucks.
Torley Linden: JayR: I think most of it is optional?
Patchouli Woollahra: That's the Chines government's rules for you.
Alexandra Rucker: JayR that seems to be normal these days
Patchouli Woollahra feels like a naked lunch
Tree Kyomoon: but, they do have reflectivity
Torley Linden: Oh Second Wynd, great wording. ;)
Tree Kyomoon: apparently
Wyn Galbraith has a gramophone too.
Torley Linden: Ahhh yes I like Serendipity pianos!
Tree Kyomoon: and 3d inventory preview
Torley Linden: Sue Stonebender was so nice to me, ages ago she gave me some... a custom one too...
Wyn Galbraith: It's cause I'm so full of hot air.
Patchouli Woollahra has a grandpaphone.
Wyn Galbraith: They're beautiful.
JayR Cela: I tried MetaVerse last week anyone here taken a look see at that Virtual World yet
Squirrel Wood: endless forest isn't for everyone. Though I like the UI there as it is international. without words ^^
Torley Linden: PUNNY! Roll on!
Torley Linden: JayR: Which one?
Patchouli Woollahra has been in that forest for ages.
Torley Linden: Yes, I like sort of the philosophical aspects of Endless Forest too...
Torley Linden: how peaceful it is...
JayR Cela: Torley / MetaVerse
Wyn Galbraith: Where is there an endless forest?
Patchouli Woollahra: Russia.
Torley Linden: but I think most people find it weird you just can't chat in human-speak.
Wyn Galbraith loves the forest.
Tree Kyomoon has 110 acres of forest in RL
Wyn Galbraith: LOL Patch.
Torley Linden: Way cool Tree, what do you do with all of it?
Daedalus Young: I love those open spaces in SL
Patchouli Woollahra: Nothing wrong with that, Torley. sometimes reducing communications to gestures has its benefits.
Daedalus Young: and forests
Tree Kyomoon: /I leave it the @#$%@#$% alone :)
Daedalus Young: Forest of Kahruvel is a great place too
Wyn Galbraith wants to build the 100 acre woods.
Torley Linden: Some people just find it really uncomfortable to lose their language I guess.
Patchouli Woollahra is still waiting tostart installing Fallout 2.
Torley Linden: OH, BOTHER!
Wyn Galbraith: With Pooh and all his friends ;)
Patchouli Woollahra: Language is commonly used as a construct for the mind as well.
Squirrel Wood: It is always a challenge getting things across to other players of the endless forest ^^
Torley Linden: Yeah, I remember when Heterocera Atoll opened (northern continent)...
Torley Linden: and there was LOTS of open space.
Rosuto Kanami: you tlak fast :(
Torley Linden: Same with Nautilus more recently...
Rosuto Kanami: talk*
Torley Linden: every time a new continent opens up, I check it out.
Torley Linden: Who talks fast?
Patchouli Woollahra: Rosuto, yes, yes we do.
Daedalus Young: I liked that too about the Corsica continent
Rosuto Kanami: everybody
Rosuto Kanami: lol
Patchouli Woollahra: The trick is touch-typing.
Torley Linden: Yeah, Corsica!
Tree Kyomoon really likes the grendels children sim, you all need to visit it
Wyn Galbraith touch types.
Patchouli Woollahra: it's a bit too big for Magellan Linden these days isn't it?
Daedalus Young: Torley, we both made a photo of the mountain there
Torley Linden: Magellan, haven't seen the bloke in ages.
Torley Linden: Daedalus: Oh really? Show da pic!
Patchouli Woollahra: missing presumed cannibalised?
Daedalus Young: I went back there later, that beach is now divided into squares
Patchouli Woollahra was watching the Involvum thing turn into a lame renaming.
Torley Linden: OMG I totally freaked out, I thought "Who put a big sign outside my office?!" turns out it was me. X_X
Rosuto Kanami: loool
Wyn Galbraith: LOL Torley!
Theodore Folsom: hehe
Wyn Galbraith giggles
Grey Kurka: If you haven't checked it out you must see Botanical at Straylight, a beautiful sculpties forest
Daedalus Young: I'll search the pics
Patchouli Woollahra has a giant standee of Meta Linden in her inventory xD
Rosuto Kanami: no voice :(
Rosuto Kanami pokes speakers
Patchouli Woollahra: who needs voice?
Tree Kyomoon: such wonderful avvies here today!
Patchouli Woollahra: only people who cant really use the keybard on average.
Torley Linden: Straylight sure is beautiful... and as always if you have cool landmarks, please send them to my inventory...
Rosuto Kanami: i maded mine!
Rosuto Kanami: ^___^
Torley Linden: I'm more than happy to hear about awesomeness.
Wyn Galbraith: You seem to be feeding your sandworm some things.
Tree Kyomoon: sweet rosuto!
Torley Linden: THE SPICE...
Torley Linden: MELANGE!
Rosuto Kanami: reset colors
Rosuto Kanami: basecolor lime
Rosuto Kanami: trimcolor pink
Rosuto Kanami: drink color purple
Tree Kyomoon: /still searching SL for the best tennis playing blumange
Patchouli Woollahra: http://urltea.com/1b9p
Rosuto Kanami: trimcolor purple
Wyn Galbraith: Oh artist stuff... pictures are wonderful
Rosuto Kanami: lightcolor blcak
Rosuto Kanami: O_O
Daedalus Young: here's mine: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=196979
Wyn Galbraith: LOL Patcg
Torley Linden: I wish I could click on links in the chat overlay, the transparent display...
Daedalus Young: and here's yours: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=192687
Torley Linden: *looks*
Torley Linden: Oh rats, why did my browser crash!
Rosuto Kanami: lightcolor black
Patchouli Woollahra theorises that it is possible to conduct an everyday conversation using only LOLcats in three years' time.
Rosuto Kanami: lmao torley this color set for you :P
MenuBar Memorial: StrayLight is a nice place
Torley Linden: Haha I have seen different verions of that one, Patch.
Torley Linden: I believe the same theory.
Torley Linden: *checks Daed's pics*
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Wyn Galbraith: I was asked if I had pictures of this av on Flicker yesterday.
Torley Linden: Holy moly WindLight makes a difference there.
Daedalus Young: to see the difference between 'normal' and WindLight...
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/12677
Daedalus Young: amazing
Torley Linden: That's great widescreen Daedalus.
Patchouli Woollahra: btw, Catherine Fitzpatrick rezzed cats all over my lawn again.
Daedalus Young: thanks
Rosuto Kanami: isent windlight in normal client now tho ?
Daedalus Young: 1:2.35
Patchouli Woollahra: xD
Tree Kyomoon: torley how much reflectivity will we have in windlight? Just water?
Wyn Galbraith: What!
Squirrel Wood: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/43/Callosciurus_prevosti.jpg ^^
Wyn Galbraith: Did you AR her Patch?
Patchouli Woollahra had autreturn on fortunately.
Daedalus Young: I made a HUD with different aspect ratios, makes it easier to frame
Torley Linden: Water so far but shiny is shinier... we eventually want to bring Dynamic Reflections back but that isn't confirmed...
Torley Linden: WindLight is still in internal testing.
Tree Kyomoon: yay dynamic reflections
Wyn Galbraith: Pretty squirrel.
Patchouli Woollahra: I did, but it makes me wonder how justified Prokofy was in screaming for somenoe to pay closer attention.
Torley Linden: We hope for a public re-release in several weeks (I hope, I hope)... bugs we're still working on.
Squirrel Wood: yups
Wyn Galbraith wants to play with windlight
Rosuto Kanami: i have big question ! it is on topic i think
Torley Linden: Cats? Lawn? Wha?
Torley Linden: Go ahead Rosuto!
Patchouli Woollahra: Windlight breaks some older clients in its last public binary release.
Daedalus Young: I want to do my Train Tour again with WindLight
Torley Linden: I am Product Manager for WindLight so just about anything concerning it, I feel responsible for. =)
Rosuto Kanami: normal games and onlien clients are soo far progressed and some even also have voice
Rosuto Kanami: why come is linden lab have so many diffacult to do it ?
Patchouli Woollahra: Will it still b possible to cheat and use windlight clouds for fog?
Rosuto Kanami: and product quality so high like maybe EA games
Patchouli Woollahra: some people situate their stuff at cloud level to fake fogging in SL.
Daedalus Young: you can keep the clouds, afaik
Rosuto Kanami: im sorry english is second speak for me :(
MenuBar Memorial: Is viewing above clouds going to be fixed in WindLight Torley?
Patchouli Woollahra: Rosuto: you must understand that unfortunately, the average person in Second LIfe is NOT a Realtime Content Design professional.
Torley Linden: Rosuto: How do you mean? Specifically... ?
Torley Linden: What kind of progresss?
Wyn Galbraith: Well, if you think about the depth of the code it takes to run a place like SL... one would understand the hugeness of the project.
Rosuto Kanami: well i knwo is not RESidents ar enot pro but
Patchouli Woollahra: a lot of common SL rendering problems are actually universal.
Torley Linden: We are keeping the Classic Clouds until we get Nimble, and even then, there'd prolly be simpler "fallback" mode for those on lower-end systems.
Rosuto Kanami: ll has development team
Tree Kyomoon loves the name "menubar" :)
Wyn Galbraith: What's amazing is that there aren't more issues with stability then there already is.
Torley Linden: Lindens currently do not have a dedicated "Content Team", BTW.
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/12678
Rosuto Kanami: how come progress is so little as far as quality in textureing and overall
Patchouli Woollahra has seen invisiprim-style rendering in World of Warcraft.
Patchouli Woollahra: unfortunately.
Torley Linden: Certain Lindens make content, but it's not the focus of our job. Sometimes, we contract things.
Rosuto Kanami: they do not ?
Patchouli Woollahra: The days of Ben Linden and the LOLcube are gone.
Rosuto Kanami: HIRE ME I PROGRAM for capcom last job
Torley Linden: That's weird Patchouli.
Rosuto Kanami: :P i work on biohazrd title
Daedalus Young: Rosuto, you can get the source code and write patches for the viewer!
Tree Kyomoon cant wait until he gets his new satellight dish, the current one is soooo lame
Torley Linden: Biohazard? Resident Evil?
Torley Linden: Rosuto, I'm a longtime fan of Capcom... http://lindenlab.com/employment if you see a position that appeals to you. :)
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley: it's not, it's an unfortunate issue with realtime rendering.
Rosuto Kanami: yes resident evil
Daedalus Young: you can win a MacBook Pro. Is that still on? I lost track
Rosuto Kanami: are they fine to hire in japan ?
Patchouli Woollahra: unlike delayed seconds per frame rendering, realtime needs to cut lots of corners to keep a reasonable framerate.
Torley Linden: Well that's cool Rosuto -- yes we have a number of Japanese Lindens currently, some who work from there too at times, I think.
Patchouli Woollahra: Rosuto:> LL has a branch in Japan, if memory serves me currectly.
Squirrel Wood: more lights! 6-8 sources is not enough ;)
Torley Linden: We don't have a formal Japan office... yet.
Patchouli Woollahra: Squirrel: that is an OpenGL limitation.
Rosuto Kanami: :(
Torley Linden: I think that's an OpenGL limit Squirrel... not sure how to exceed that but I'd like it too.
Rosuto Kanami: i order check once :(
Tree Kyomoon wants to run the official chester nova scotia LL office :)
Patchouli Woollahra: extra points if you can get together a full team worth hiring in full.
Rosuto Kanami: took 3 montsh to get to me
Rosuto Kanami: months
Squirrel Wood: I know its a limit
JayR Cela: Torley Yesterday the G-4 channel had a special on Square Soft the folks that did the Donkey Kong series for the Nintendo NES and the 16bit machine as well / it was really kool
Torley Linden: Part of the prob too, is people make little candles in a chandelier and put a light in every candle instead of one bigger "generalized" one.
Torley Linden: That's awesome JayR...
Torley Linden: right now I am a big, BIG fan of Reggie Fils-Aime.
Torley Linden: He's been made into a meme too.
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley: accuracy in lighting is NOT a possibilituy with most realtime lighting methods.
Rosuto Kanami: torley you fan of resident evi l?
Torley Linden: Reggie is President of Nintendo of America. :)
Patchouli Woollahra: as opposed to pre-cached stuff.
Daedalus Young: hi bridie
Torley Linden: Heya Bridie!
Wyn Galbraith loved Resident Evil
Tree Kyomoon: Id do it for a mug and some pens
Patchouli Woollahra: Ressident Weevil rocks.
Wyn Galbraith: Hey Bridie.
Torley Linden: Yes Rosuto, I haven't really played the games but the sinister atmosphere and creepiness is way awesome.
MenuBar Memorial: Hi Birdie!
Bridie Linden: Hi all!
Torley Linden: You did programming for Resident Evil, Rosuto?
Bridie Linden: sorry I'm late!
Theodore Folsom: ***Hewoo***
Theodore Folsom: Birdie
Patchouli Woollahra has a small bottle of condiment she occasionally uses on her hotdogs... and on locks.
Torley Linden: Good to see ya Bridie... you look awesome in this here WindLight. Hehe.
Patchouli Woollahra: I call it the Mustard of Unlocking.
Rosuto Kanami: AFK
JayR Cela: Torley speaking of Anime there is a new shop in Sl selling JutSu mystic ninja hand-moves that are capable of casting magic spells
Wyn Galbraith: LOL Patch
Bridie Linden smiles
Patchouli Woollahra: Yay, we have three Birdies in here now!
Torley Linden: :p
Bridie Linden: Actually, it's bRidie :)
Daedalus Young: birdie? :P
Patchouli Woollahra: ??? where teh crows?
Patchouli Woollahra: oh. hehehe.
Roberto Salubrius: came late
Roberto Salubrius: how are you guys !
Torley Linden: It reminds me of the times when my name is misspelled "Torely".
Theodore Folsom nickers.
JayR Cela: hello Bridie
Zuffy Frua steals some pillows
Torley Linden: Where is that JayR?
Torley Linden: Haha "Mustard of Unlocking"...
Tree Kyomoon: hello roberto!
Wyn Galbraith: Zuffy!
Patchouli Woollahra: or the times where people call me Patch.
JayR Cela: Torley hold on a min please
Daedalus Young: anything better than Trolley, right?
Rosuto Kanami: ^___^
Patchouli Woollahra: It's Patchi. baka.
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Zuffy Frua: teheee
Wyn Galbraith oops
Roberto Salubrius: hi there
Torley Linden: Wow thanks Rosuto I got that box from SLExchange.
Wyn Galbraith: Patchouli
Torley Linden: I like shopping on the web while browsing inworld -- texture load is much faster.
Rosuto Kanami: so desu
Torley Linden: Parallelization FTW!
Rosuto Kanami: ^_^
Torley Linden: What are all the shopping sites now?
Patchouli Woollahra: Rosuto needs to see the kowloon region.
SL Exchange Central Authority: Rosuto Kanami has given you a gift of "GrimeTek's-Resident Evil 4 Prefab House#2" from SLExchange.com!
Torley Linden: SlExchange, Onrez... what others?
Roberto Salubrius: What are we talking about ?
Rosuto Kanami: torley you tell me what you think of gift ok ?
Torley Linden: I was looking for furniture for Studio Blacklight's inworld HQ and realized how much faster browsing on the web would be.
Torley Linden: Heya Roberto and welcome!
Patchouli Woollahra: Apez.biz offers selling services from payment to order fulfilment, but is not a shopping sight per se.
MenuBar Memorial: quick/dumb question - what does FTW mean?
Torley Linden: Rosuto I hope to check it out soon... thank you...
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley: the normal web is for fast information gathering.
Roberto Salubrius: Hi torley I wrote you an email a few weeks ago =)
Torley Linden: Hmmm intriguing, I'll make a note of these... and BTW for anyone who missed earlier, I post transcripts of my office hours.
Wyn Galbraith: Find The Word.
Patchouli Woollahra: Second Life is about experiential experience.
Torley Linden: They should go up tonite @ http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Torley_Linden
Patchouli Woollahra: Fishing The Whale.
Tree Kyomoon: we need to create a new pronoun set for residents of SL, He/SHe just doesnt cut it anymore
Alexandra Rucker: Xir
Jurin Juran: LOL Patchouli
Torley Linden: Roberto, that's a pretty distinct av.
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Roberto Salubrius: kool This place makes me think of my watermellon sploder
Wyn Galbraith: Them, those, shers
Patchouli Woollahra banned the last person who tried that in NCi.
Zuffy Frua: ponies!
Patchouli Woollahra: SHeIT is not good.
Tree Kyomoon: lol
Roberto Salubrius: Ty Torley it was not easy to make but I tried the best to make it look like me in RL
Torley Linden: I used to have a happy travel watermelon... I sat on it and it emitted 0,1,0 and 1,0,0.5 all over!
Wyn Galbraith: Ponies!
Torley Linden: Hahaha "SHeIT", count me out of that one.
Torley Linden: Roberto, really! That looks pretty realistic.
Squirrel Wood: Hey Zuffy ^^
Torley Linden: Did you start at The Shelter?
Theodore Folsom: we came for the carrot prim :D
Daedalus Young: heh, I just get an IM from the Mac Users Group, saying how to disable the typing animation :P
Zuffy Frua: squirs ^_^
Roberto Salubrius: yes I got this underpants there and I still have them
JayR Cela: Torley the magic ninja shop is called Naruto Role Play Shop / in Royal (144,57,93) they have JutSu wizzard magic gizmo's / just like the Anime cartoons / is pretty neet
Patchouli Woollahra: Rosuto needs to check out kowloon region.
Torley Linden: Hahaha Daedalus, how timely!
Zuffy Frua: \o/ for the carrot prim "when we getting it"
Roberto Salubrius: when I have some lindens I go and donate a few
Patchouli Woollahra: it's like kowloon's Gate.
Torley Linden: Oh gosh and just as you said that, I got another IM asking me about the same thing!
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/12679
Torley Linden: I'm glad I posted that tip.
Tree Kyomoon was a male skeleton but I had an operation...pretty simple procedure really
Patchouli Woollahra: with wierder people.
Rosuto Kanami: i use tip
Patchouli Woollahra: Not really, Tree.
Torley Linden: Thanks JayR, I'll make a note -- I've not really seen Naruto but I like a lot of the colorful anime-styled things in SL... (like my hair)
Rosuto Kanami: from the playtypinganime = false ^__^
Wyn Galbraith snorts.
Patchouli Woollahra: I think it might have involved some bone cracking.
Tree Kyomoon: if you are a skeleton it is
Patchouli Woollahra: female hips wider than male hips.
Torley Linden: HAHAHA.
Patchouli Woollahra: narrower shoulders too.
Torley Linden: What observations!
Wyn Galbraith thought only monkies had bones there.
Torley Linden: @_@
Roberto Salubrius: you can check on an Xray the sexx by the hips
Wyn Galbraith: LOL
Tree Kyomoon: lol ok ok
Tree Kyomoon: uncle!
Patchouli Woollahra: if you like anime, Ichigo Mayo does some really cool chibis.
Torley Linden: These are rather fascinating medical observations.
Torley Linden: *makes a note* Ahh good stuff overload, I love it!
Wyn Galbraith: Too much Animal Planet and Discovery.
Torley Linden: HAHAHA OMG sculptie face... that's great...
Rosuto Kanami quaks
Wyn Galbraith: National Geographic too.
Zuffy Frua: that some clock you got there!
Daedalus Young: I think I'll start doing the typing anim irl
Roberto Salubrius: Too much med School I just wish I could finish it
Torley Linden: One series I wish I had seen on Discovery Channel was that one by Michio Kaku.
Patchouli Woollahra: yeah, so I've been told.
Torley Linden: 2057 was it called? He's a genius.
Torley Linden: I'd like a Kaku av in Second Life, complete with gray hair.
Patchouli Woollahra: A lot of people scream "CUUUTE" when they see me in this.
Torley Linden: That IS cute!
Torley Linden: *looks closer*
Tree Kyomoon: Roberto were you the one who did that film abot the guy who woke up and was in SL suddenly?
Torley Linden: Awwdorable.
Patchouli Woollahra: Oh, my second life?
Patchouli Woollahra: lame.
Tree Kyomoon: yeah that one
Patchouli Woollahra has been scripting up a spoof webcomic for it.
Daedalus Young: only that red eye should've been pink :P
Tree Kyomoon: I thought it was funny
Rosuto Kanami: sugoi
Rosuto Kanami: !!
Patchouli Woollahra: Desu desu.
Daedalus Young: like my sunglasses glasses are
Theodore Folsom: hehe Hi Ante
Wyn Galbraith: Can I just send a resume to LL and have them pick the job for me?
Ante Flan: 'lo
Tree Kyomoon: I did a stop motion series for television like that
Roberto Salubrius: No Tree I made my Avatar Based on me to Try and Gain Outside and positional Skills for my Agoraphobia
Zuffy Frua: this teh furry melon
Torley Linden: It's been awhile since I've seen a Bananaphone.
Rosuto Kanami steals some watermelon
Roberto Salubrius: lol I re-scripted this one Yesterday =)
Ante Flan: everything is still rezzing
Torley Linden: Wyn, sadly that makes it harder, because who you get interviewed by depends on the job position you select... ;)
Tree Kyomoon: ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
Zuffy Frua: me ates all teh banannanans ups
Wyn Galbraith: I got approached by the Bananaphone av first day.
Wyn Galbraith: Ah darn, Torley.
Patchouli Woollahra has a Yubz Talk phone.
Tree Kyomoon: its not a pony!
Roberto Salubrius: I used to go to bed doing a ring-ring-ring banana phone on my head
Roberto Salubrius: over and over
Daedalus Young: I once was in a completely empty urban-style region
Torley Linden: Wyn, sometimes we have cases though where someone is specific about what they want to do, or spot a need that is missing @ LL and they promote it passionately and they're offered one of multiple possibilities.
Daedalus Young: and there was that bananaphone tune looping
Daedalus Young: that was scary!
Tree Kyomoon: I see that you have many things here that are still not on top of other things
Torley Linden: Or sometimes we think "So-and-so applied for this, but they'd be MUCH better at that."
Wyn Galbraith can do the roads.
Torley Linden: Ahh those roads.
Wyn Galbraith: LOL
Wyn Galbraith: They are needed.
Squirrel Wood can toss nuts. :p
Alexandra Rucker: yea, would be nice to see FLAT roads for a change in many of the newer sims :)
Daedalus Young: I'll volunteer for the roads too, I think I'll like doing that
Torley Linden: We don't even have a dedicated Content Team anymore but yeah, I hear about the roads a lot.
Patchouli Woollahra: http://www.yubz.com/ <-- phone attachment for VoIP / mobiles... shaped like a phone handset.
Roberto Salubrius: Where Does Torley namecomes from ?
Rosuto Kanami: >_>
Alexandra Rucker: instead of the lumpy bumpy default :)
Rosuto Kanami: <_<
Daedalus Young: I'd also finish the Great Linden Wall
Wyn Galbraith: Squirrel can toss nuts while I do the roads.
Patchouli Woollahra: The world needs roads.
Squirrel Wood: hehe
Torley Linden: Roberto: My name is short for something very long in Thai.
Roberto Salubrius: Oh
Patchouli Woollahra: even with teleportation, some days I want to sit around and hear the wind in my hair.
Tree Kyomoon: please tell us your full name in Thai!
Rosuto Kanami: nani desu ka ?
Patchouli Woollahra: then start digging down five seconds later.
Daedalus Young: I sometimes rez a car and have a good drive on the southern continent
Wyn Galbraith: Torley means, "The one who must be watermellon every day."
Roberto Salubrius: I only needed my Real Last Name but it comes Close Salubrius and Salvatierra
Torley Linden: Thai people tend to have VERY LONG names and very short nicknames.
Bridie Linden: :)
Theodore Folsom: tehehehe
Torley Linden: Sadly I can't even spell it all out.
Patchouli Woollahra chose Patchouli out of thin air.
Torley Linden: Funny tho, the full name for Bangkok is like "Krung-thep-maha-nakorn-boworn-ratana-kosin-mahintar- ayudhya-amaha-dilok-pop-nopa-ratana-rajthani-burirom-udom-rajniwes-mahasat-arn-amorn-pimarn- avatar-satit- sakattiya-visanukam."
Tree Kyomoon LOVES thai food
Saijanai Kuhn: you need to make a shortcut to paste it in
Torley Linden: Funny how one part of that is "avatar". ;)
Daedalus Young: a macro
Patchouli Woollahra: I have no idea where I got ithe idea, it's been a very random thing.
Theodore Folsom: *buffer overflow*
Theodore Folsom: hehe
mag Auer: nurgle ima get off
Alexandra Rucker: day-yum, no wonder they have nicknames
Wyn Galbraith: Wow that is long
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley needs to speak to the Welsh.
Roberto Salubrius: Guys if Anyone is interested in a condition called Agoraphobia ( fear of going out ) talk to me
Torley Linden: That's pretty cool Roberto, there aren't a lot of people really bent on recreating RL themselves in here but from what I see from your profile, it's close!
Daedalus Young: ...-watermelon-avatar-...
Torley Linden: Welsh, as in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch ?
Tree Kyomoon: my cousin has agorophobia
Roberto Salubrius: I try to be a spokes person of it...
Rosuto Kanami: i have freind with agoraphobia
Roberto Salubrius: Tree I have it
Tree Kyomoon: didnt "monk"s brother have that?
Roberto Salubrius: I am raisin awareness
Torley Linden: Monk's brother... ? I thought Monk himself had OCD.
Patchouli Woollahra: God forbid you guys start a office in there.
Roberto Salubrius: and Telling people how SL helps
Rosuto Kanami: i am so antisocial in Rl i could pass for having it
Patchouli Woollahra: I mean, the first two letters oif that name are LL.
Torley Linden: Electronic musicians Hybrid once had a Welsh-ish remix with a long name.
Torley Linden: Haha Patchouli.
Torley Linden: "WELCOME TO..."
Tree Kyomoon: no his brother was played by John Tutturo
Torley Linden: Aw, Rosuto.
Rosuto Kanami: lol i used to sit in office alday
Torley Linden: I don't watch much TV but I love, LOVE Heroes.
Rosuto Kanami: or sit in home
Tree Kyomoon: and he had severe agorophobia
Patchouli Woollahra finally figured out how to sing the entire song "Crazy" yesterday.
Torley Linden: Agoraphobia -- fear of crowds, wide open spaces?
Patchouli Woollahra is still waiting for Afterworld.
Torley Linden: "Crazy" by whom?
Roberto Salubrius: Tree had is he ok now ?
Wyn Galbraith: Avatar is a common name over there. We have 'Avatar's' a great small resturant in Sausalito, that was opened by a man from India who's name was Avatar.
Daedalus Young: would be easier in LLoret de Mar then
Daedalus Young: also starts with LL
Patchouli Woollahra: Nelly Furtado's remix of the song.
Tree Kyomoon: he was a fictional tv character
Patchouli Woollahra: Orignally by Gnarls Barkley.
Rosuto Kanami: YAAAAAAAAAY!!!!
Rosuto Kanami: tsukuri mashou, tsukuri mashou, sate sate nani ga dekiru ka na... hai dekimashita!
Torley Linden: Wyn: Yeah, it's so funny, it comes from Sanskrit I think... actually I recall some companies like Millions of Us eating there and blogging about it.
Roberto Salubrius: Torley yes and SL is a great tool for us, it help us regain Perception of Reality that we have lost
Tree Kyomoon: but my cousin, I dont know if he goes out or not
Object: Touched.
Patchouli Woollahra: Nelly > Gnarls on that song.
Torley Linden: I'm glad to hear that Roberto, SL is very powerful that way, a transformational tool... =o)
Wyn Galbraith: They serve Marindian Food, combo of Jamacan, Mexican and Californian.
Patchouli Woollahra: if voice was working atm I'd fire it up.
Tree Kyomoon: SL+=reality
Torley Linden: I gotta say I've become more confident through SL...
Zuffy Frua steals some nuts
Roberto Salubrius: Tree I hope he does if not tell him to join SL it helps
Zuffy Frua steals a bone
Rosuto Kanami: well i use to work for capcom but
Zuffy Frua steals a feather
Tree Kyomoon: Good idea Roberto
Patchouli Woollahra: Which studio, Rosuto?
Torley Linden: Zuffy, stealthy!
Rosuto Kanami: i stop after biohazard 4 :(
Zuffy Frua: tehee ^_^
Wyn Galbraith steals Zuffy.
Zuffy Frua eeps!
Torley Linden: Aw, why Rosuto, if I may ask?
Rosuto Kanami: kyoto district
Theodore Folsom: gotta go, cya next time ;) take care everybody
Roberto Salubrius: Tree I came here at the start, and I tell you I got all anxious when I saw myself "outside in SL"
Torley Linden: OK have a good one Theodore!
Patchouli Woollahra: figures, they do stupid things regularly.
Roberto Salubrius: it has changed now I can go out more
Theodore Folsom: fanks Torley
Patchouli Woollahra: for example, they canned Clover after Okami and GodHand.
Rosuto Kanami: because i am transgender and they do not very much liek it when you deside you wish to change
Roberto Salubrius: and I feel better outside
Patchouli Woollahra: Why?
Wyn Galbraith: Byebye Theo.
Grey Kurka: sl is a zen masters trick to make us see the futility of appearance
Theodore Folsom: B-bye!!! :D
Torley Linden: Okami looks wild.
Torley Linden: I seem to notice chat flows so fast here.
Patchouli Woollahra: I meant to say that before your trnsgender remark.
Torley Linden: That's very philosophical, Grey.
Tree Kyomoon: SL is not a pony!
StopAllAnimations: Stopping 3 animations
StopAllAnimations: Done
Bridie Linden: afk
Patchouli Woollahra: Welcome to a world where gender is nothing more than a banner you put above your head.
Daedalus Young: I'll have to remember that
Torley Linden: What Patch said!
Wyn Galbraith: SL is the great equalizer.
Roberto Salubrius: Torley I have to tell you I tought you where a guy not a woman =)
Torley Linden: I am a guy offline.
Torley Linden: I have many avatars of various forms.
Tree Kyomoon: disengendered
Patchouli Woollahra isdefinitely male IRL, but hasn't felt that way in online worlds in years.
Torley Linden: =)
Roberto Salubrius: Nice surprise I tell you
Daedalus Young: ah, and I thought Torley was a woman, not a guy
Wyn Galbraith: LOL
Torley Linden: Hahaha!
Roberto Salubrius: lol
Patchouli Woollahra: Eh, she can outwomen a lot of women msot days.
MenuBar Memorial: I like Torley because he does not lie
Multi Chair Crate v1.0.42 (TORLEY MOD) whispers: Maximum number of chairs reached, please rez another Multi Chair table.
Torley Linden: Kinda confusing at first but I dig it; I really would be up for a great voice morpher tho, I wouldn't mind sounding like Torley Jr. does in my head.
Patchouli Woollahra: the trick is to engage her on watermelons.
Roberto Salubrius: I am just like me, but Right now I have greyunderpants
Torley Linden: Well that's nice of you MenuBar... I just am what I am.
Tree Kyomoon: popeye!
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/12680
Torley Linden: Haha yes...
Rosuto Kanami: i have female avatar but i am a male in rl tho i am getting that changed :P but i am not dishonest about it
Daedalus Young: the first time I loaded torley.com, I saw a female av in the Who AM I? block
Patchouli Woollahra uses Morphvox. but it uses a lot of system resources.
Torley Linden: well this quad-core machine is funny... because I can log on comfortably with 3, maybe 4 accounts at once.
Wyn Galbraith: Does it really matter what sex some is? Here you meet the person rather than the sex, because you can't really rely on the gender of the av to tell you about the person in RL.
Daedalus Young: so that was quite a shock when I saw the first vidtut :P
Squirrel Wood: good voice morphers: MorphVOX and Scramby
Torley Linden: Yeah... people choose what they want to be here, choices that weren't made upon them at birth.
Roberto Salubrius: oh in SL the sex is the leastimportant
Torley Linden: I haven't heard of Scramby, I haven't been convinced by MorphVOX's yet...
Torley Linden: *makes a note*
Rosuto Kanami: i see torley video and deside he maybe nice person to talk to
Patchouli Woollahra: In second life, the biggest sex organ is the human brain.
Wyn Galbraith is pondering becoming a ball of light.
Torley Linden: Ooh, luminiscent!
Wyn Galbraith: Exactly Patchouli.
Squirrel Wood: Morphvox is pretty much the best morpher you can get methinks
Patchouli Woollahra: XCite compatible right out of the box... but really, why limit yourself?
Tree Kyomoon: torley's video made me an insta fan
Roberto Salubrius: Endorphines =) yes
Torley Linden: I hope your decision turned out to be true Rosuto. =) Thanks.
Torley Linden: Patch: But, but isn't it always?
Daedalus Young: I still have to try out the trick using GarageBand's morphing as a 'proxy' for Voice
Rosuto Kanami: actualy in RL biggest sex organ is still the brain :P
Patchouli Woollahra: they also help by offerin free training.
Torley Linden: MorphVOX made me sound too squealy after I played around with it for a bit, even after training it etc. Maybe my voice is just kinda hard.
Patchouli Woollahra: erm, what I said ^^;
Patchouli Woollahra: Torley: you need to schedule a session with the Screamng Bee guys.
Roberto Salubrius: noone wants to play simon ?
Torley Linden: If I thought it was a big priority I'd get a massive DSP box and make myself sound like a whole Gregorian choir.
MenuBar Memorial: GarageBand's Morphing? hmmm - haven't heard of that but gotta try it
Torley Linden: I know some of the Screaming Bee guys are in SL aren't they?
Patchouli Woollahra: they can sitwith you and practice to get a voice that will morph properly.
Tree Kyomoon: /tree hopes to be as happy as torley is all the time
Torley Linden: I was tickled to see Second Life on their website, that's for sure.
Patchouli Woollahra: they need to start promoting theirstuff more.
Torley Linden: Hmmm... I know one of Screaming Bee's reps commented on my blog some time ago.
Daedalus Young: yes, I think I read it on the SL wiki, Voice FAQ's discussion page
Torley Linden: Intriguing.
Patchouli Woollahra: Voice uptake is relatively problematice in part because of the issues involved in creating a aural identity.
Roberto Salubrius: lol this meeting is so different than the one with Zero
Wyn Galbraith: Well, SL would be a big market for morhers.
Roberto Salubrius: very comunal
Torley Linden: Patch: That's an astute way to put it, would you like to elaborate?
Daedalus Young: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Talk:Voice_FAQ
Torley Linden: "Big market for morphers" sounds like a great sci-fi story.
Daedalus Young: in the bit before the TOC
Tree Kyomoon: zeros been getting a little zany sometimes...but not like here
Patchouli Woollahra: the average person does not have the voice they imagine thbey want to have.
Roberto Salubrius: the one with zero is all techie stuff - good thing - if you like that kind of things
Torley Linden: Zero is a superbrain.
Patchouli Woollahra: Marilyn Monroe. The Darth Vader guy.
Torley Linden: Zero has decades of experience in the code.
Patchouli Woollahra: Madden.
Wyn Galbraith loves Zero, could listen to him all day.
Roberto Salubrius: yes nice person
Squirrel Wood: for me, morphvox gets the job done well ^^
Patchouli Woollahra: someone's firing guns in here.
Tree Kyomoon: in myst URU, the object of one of the levels is to calibrate "The Great Zero"
Patchouli Woollahra heard metal clanging.
Torley Linden: Hahah Tree.
Torley Linden: Have you ever told Zero Linden that joke?
MenuBar Memorial: nah that was a helicopter flying by
Roberto Salubrius: lol
Torley Linden: Oh gosh diddly darnit, I have sound off.
Tree Kyomoon: I think so
Torley Linden: Helicopter? How very Second Life... if it was a fuzzy one spewing... something.
MenuBar Memorial: helicopter bumped into a watermelon
Patchouli Woollahra: let's be frank, our real voices are rarely to the same calibre we desire them to be.
Roberto Salubrius: Watermellons are nice
Daedalus Young: you can make melon slices that way
Roberto Salubrius: here where I live we have huge watermellons
Roberto Salubrius: 1us$ each ball
Roberto Salubrius: no no wait
Wyn Galbraith: I have to find my URU, I bought it and it's hidden in my studio still shrinkwrapped so I wouldn't be tempted to open it while finishing my AA.
Roberto Salubrius: like .60$ each
Tree Kyomoon keeps watermelons as pets
Torley Linden: Mmmm.
Torley Linden: Don't get me started on watermelons!
Patchouli Woollahra: theoretically, the Screaming Bee guys have a serverbased morpher system as well that can be patched through any VoIP system, but the costs involved might be kinda bad.
Torley Linden: I will never EVER finish!
Torley Linden: I don't know how compatible that'd be with our Open Source aims too...
Roberto Salubrius: you know the small SWEET round watermellons ?
Patchouli Woollahra: You'd be surprised.
Torley Linden: I have had some small ones, yellow ones...
Torley Linden: Never a cubed one yet.
Patchouli Woollahra: I'm sure there's a good OpenSource Voip solution out there.
Wyn Galbraith: Square Watermellons.
Patchouli Woollahra: rip out vvivox, recode to put it in.
Daedalus Young: the yellow ones, you mean the Galia's?
Tree Kyomoon: bubba gump watermelons at torleys
Roberto Salubrius: yes they have it on Japan Wyn
Patchouli Woollahra: there is an open source solution to virtually anything.
Daedalus Young: I like those
Roberto Salubrius: bubba gump lol
Grey Kurka: My first memory is spitting watermelon seeds with my grampy
Wyn Galbraith: Easier to stack and store.
Patchouli Woollahra: except maybe reading JPEG200s ast.
Torley Linden: Hahaha.
Torley Linden: What a memory!
Roberto Salubrius: AWWW Grey
Torley Linden: My Dad, first got me hooked on melons...
Wyn Galbraith: Watermellows are a pain to try to find a place for them in the frig.
Tree Kyomoon: word association , its a tick of mine
Bridie Linden: i've gotta run! Have a great weekend all!
Torley Linden: he told me... in rural China where he came from... they were like a Robin Hood food...
Rosuto Kanami: whatermelon is yumii!
Tree Kyomoon: bye bye birdie!
Roberto Salubrius: Robin Hood Food ?
Daedalus Young: bye Bridie
Torley Linden: It's *Bridie*. :)
Torley Linden: Yeah...
Wyn Galbraith: Byebye Bridie, Bridie bye bye
Roberto Salubrius: meaning ?
Torley Linden: my Dad told me about bandits... who stole watermelons from the rich...
Tree Kyomoon: Bridie?
Torley Linden: and fed the poor...
Roberto Salubrius: oh
Tree Kyomoon: whait a minute
Torley Linden: They robbed watermelon trucks.
Tree Kyomoon: I think its Bri die
Daedalus Young: I always double-check when I write Bridie in chat
Torley Linden: Trucks LOADED with melons!
Roberto Salubrius: well it's a good source of minerals and a good way to get hydrated
Daedalus Young: to make sure I didn't accidentally put in birdie
JayR Cela: lol / watermelon trucks haaaa!!!
Tree Kyomoon: like what you would call a miniature bride
Wyn Galbraith: Great diet food.
Torley Linden: Yes Roberto, you are totally correct.
Torley Linden: Mmmm.
Tree Kyomoon: huh neat o
Torley Linden: So colorful too...
Torley Linden: Yeah, I can't say anything bad about watermelons.
Tree Kyomoon: even if a watermelon ate your dog?
Wyn Galbraith likes to spit the seeds see how far they go... er outside of course :)
Torley Linden: I have no dog.
Torley Linden: But, hmmm... that's a toughie.
Roberto Salubrius: noone wants a little plush toy of me ?
Tree Kyomoon: lol
Torley Linden: Sure Roberto, you made it?
Roberto Salubrius: no a friend I scripted it
Torley Linden: Ahhh.
Tree Kyomoon contemplates a scripted dog eating watermelon machine in SL
Daedalus Young: ooh, if you can make plush figures of avatars
Grey Kurka: The problem with the Chinese watermelons is after you have some your hungry again
Daedalus Young: that's be cool
Torley Linden: Thanks, funny.
Daedalus Young: furries, of course
Torley Linden: Hahaha Grey!
Torley Linden: That's too funneh.
Roberto Salubrius: look in my shoulder
Torley Linden: I like Little Rob! Looks like he needs more of a tan like you tho.
Tree Kyomoon: im not the mail!
Torley Linden: HAHAH OMG a Linden mailbox!?!
Roberto Salubrius: lol yes
Torley Linden: Who the heck made that!?
Wyn Galbraith stuffs it with letters.
Daedalus Young: hehe, for spying?
Roberto Salubrius: it ws for my Bday 2 days ago
Roberto Salubrius: a friend of mine Rhiannon
Tree Kyomoon: isnt it illegal to impersonate the mail?
Roberto Salubrius: you guys could sell plush Lindens ( for most voodoo dolls 0
Wyn Galbraith: Mail, not mail boxes.
Daedalus Young: not if you do it in name of the Queen
Patchouli Woollahra: it spits out letters to Philip Linden
Tree Kyomoon: fine line i tells ya
Daedalus Young: oh, sends out mail every 20 seconds?
Wyn Galbraith: Paper thin
Torley Linden: What kind of letters those be?
Daedalus Young: Philip will be so happy :P
Torley Linden: I like the eyes.
Wyn Galbraith: A B C D...
Patchouli Woollahra: Not sure.
Roberto Salubrius: click on mini me
Tree Kyomoon: as long as it doesnt eat shredded wheat
Wyn Galbraith: They should blink once in a while.
Patchouli Woollahra loves some of the stuff that comes out o Baku.
MenuBar Memorial: Hi Webby!
Roberto Salubrius: yes I could try to script them to blink
Rosuto Kanami: oyasami nasai !
Rosuto Kanami: ZZZzzz
Webby Merlin: HEllooooo
Daedalus Young: could a mermaid swim in a ~water~melon?
Patchouli Woollahra: gotta go soon, my Fallout download is speeding up.
Torley Linden: Mmmm.
Webby Merlin: sorry i'm still rezzing y'all..
Torley Linden: Fallout download?!
Patchouli Woollahra: yes, I just spent US$20 buying Fallout 2.
Tree Kyomoon needs more of that eye that goes winkie
Torley Linden: Steam?
Wyn Galbraith hasn't worn her mermaid in ages.
Torley Linden: I wonder if there'll be a part III.
Torley Linden: I'm looking forward to Deus Ex 3 if they do it right.
Torley Linden: If they don't, I'll be mad.
Tree Kyomoon: gimme stream, and how you feel to make it real...real as any place you've been
Patchouli Woollahra: Direct2Drive.
Torley Linden: Deus Ex: Invisible War actually inspired me to get into SL...
Torley Linden: Cool av, Webby!
Wyn Galbraith: That was a wonderous day the day that Torley found SL. :)
Tree Kyomoon: Ooooooooo love the crow!
Tree Kyomoon: menubar does it again!

Wyn Galbraith: Raven.
Torley Linden: I'm so happy to be here of course.
MenuBar Memorial: haha thanks Tree
Torley Linden: =) Sitting with all of you, right now!
Spurs Seattle: Hey Torley :)) long time no see
Tree Kyomoon: raven is better since I tend to eat a lot of crow
Roberto Salubrius: back
Wyn Galbraith: I'm happy they made you a Linden.
Torley Linden: It came to me in a dream one night that I should apply.
Roberto Salubrius: Wyn I know I have seen your name all over SL
Daedalus Young: cool
Torley Linden: And so in the morning that's exactly what I did.
Wyn Galbraith: I'm happy there's such a happy place to come vist the Lindens.
Roberto Salubrius: you are kinda famous but why ?
Wyn Galbraith: Uhohs.
Wyn Galbraith: Me, not famous at all. Just me.
Torley Linden: Who famous?
Roberto Salubrius: you write a lot or something ?
Tree Kyomoon: IM famous among all my stuffed animals
Roberto Salubrius: I have seen wyn name all over
Torley Linden: :D
Wyn Galbraith facepalms.
Johan Laurasia: Hello everyone
Wyn Galbraith: Depends on where you see it what sort of fame.
Torley Linden: Hello Johan!
MenuBar Memorial: hi johan
Daedalus Young: hi
Roberto Salubrius: Wyn but about what I can't point it
Roberto Salubrius: hey Johan
Spurs Seattle: I had a question Torley, maybe you can direct me to the right Issue Tracker number. SInce the update, Ive lost about 10 FPS average throughout SL?
Tree Kyomoon: my brain thinks Im "da bomb"
Wyn Galbraith da booms.
Torley Linden: Hmmm not sure of that one Spurs but I have been checking on other performance-related issues.
Roberto Salubrius: I have a small simple guide to raise FPS in SL
Roberto Salubrius: you know particles off
Roberto Salubrius: reduce visibility
Roberto Salubrius: etc
Spurs Seattle: Roberto, I have an overclocked Nvidia 8800 GTX
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/12681
Daedalus Young: set Tree detail (Linden tree, that is) to the lowest setting
Spurs Seattle: :)
Torley Linden: I also recommend checking Fast Timers, whenever there's an issue where you report performance, include those results.
Tree Kyomoon: if you want to raise fps in SL, you could have a big dinner and charge 100 FPS a head
Torley Linden: How to get those is in here... http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Debug_Help
Torley Linden: Tree Detail slays me...
Johan Laurasia: lol
Torley Linden: has anyone noticed Flexible Mesh Detail do anything?
Torley Linden: It doesn't seem to actually change anything... :\
Roberto Salubrius: Spurs you have your latest driver ?
Daedalus Young: I should test that
Johan Laurasia: didnt notice it was added.. dont work with flexi's much
Torley Linden: I'm gonna ask Ventrella (who invented it) about it...
Spurs Seattle: Roberto, yes. I noticed the FPS drop, prior to putting the card in
Wyn Galbraith: Here Torley, this is too funny.
MenuBar Memorial: actually I remember playing with it and yeah the higher levels did seem to make flexis a bit smoother
Roberto Salubrius: it's a new Card Spurs ?
MenuBar Memorial: but that was a while ago
Saijanai Kuhn: BTW, I missed any mention of it. Whats the eta for release of the new WIndlight first look?
Tree Kyomoon: I drop fps all the time, but it never breaks!
Johan Laurasia: is it a debug setting?
Torley Linden: Yeah it doesn't seem that noticeable MenuBar... I remember when they first came out, it did make a noticeable difference. Not so much today it seems...
Spurs Seattle: Saij, im being told 2 weeks
Spurs Seattle: We will see tho :)
Wyn Galbraith drops packets all the itme.
Torley Linden: Saijanai, there'll be a blog announcement, don't count on 2 weeks but hopefully in a few weeks.
Torley Linden: I'll update http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Torley_Linden
Torley Linden: I started posting project updates.
Roberto Salubrius: Spurs sometimes a Video Card specially new ones don't perform as expected
Roberto Salubrius: update drivers
Wyn Galbraith: Very Cooll Torley.
Torley Linden: Because there's a lost of misc. and loose ends that get edited constantly and aren't "prime" for the blog.
Roberto Salubrius: update Direct X
Johan Laurasia: anyone played with RenderDynamicReflections yet?
Tree Kyomoon started collecting all the packets SL drops...could be good for something some day
Torley Linden: I get all sorts of stuff asked, I'm building up a FAQ section too.
Torley Linden: Haha Tree that's so funny.
Torley Linden: Johan, yes, but it doesn't work properly on my system.
Roberto Salubrius: and let me send you my "newbie guide for increasing SL speed"
Daedalus Young: yes, I did some renderdynamicreflections
Saijanai Kuhn: utf-8 chr ?
Object:
Torley Linden: Thanks for being helpful Roberto... knowledge must be shared!
Johan Laurasia: works on mine.. albeit quite fuzzy
Roberto Salubrius: I have used Dinamic Reflections
Spurs Seattle: Roberto, once again, the FPS drop happened prior to the new card
Saijanai Kuhn: utf-8 ord ?
Object: 9839
Johan Laurasia: and you have to catch it at the proper angle
blogHUD Messenger: Your image post has arrived at blogHUD.com []: see http://bloghud.com/id/12682
Torley Linden: I remember when RenderDynamicReflections for me did work, upon a time.
Zee Pixel: Is this the Torley fan club ;p
Daedalus Young: yes, Zee :P
Torley Linden: We are hoping to eventually add that as a build parameter I reckon... if not outright a more flexible Materials system.
Torley Linden: Visiting time Zee! =)
Roberto Salubrius: Saijani you have trested it on different sims ?
Torley Linden: Hehehe.
Spurs Seattle: My home sim, I used to get about 25 FPS average, now I get 15
Johan Laurasia: Love your tutorials btw Torley
Tree Kyomoon: yes, we all bring fans and show them to torley!
Torley Linden: But WindLight definitely has RenderGlow on per-texture basis, I used it on my hair, it's live, it's electric.
Daedalus Young: DynamicReflections: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=199866
Wyn Galbraith has built a fan.
MenuBar Memorial: Lets sing the TORLEY FANCLUB SONG - T, O, R - L, E, Y...
Roberto Salubrius: Spurs look if there are not scripts around that are lagging you
Johan Laurasia: lol
Torley Linden: OK I am blushing too much now.
Spurs Seattle: ty Roberto
Torley Linden: Spurs, BTW, do you have "VBO" on or off? Does that make your computer stutter when on?
MenuBar Memorial: "L" because we love you...
Zee Pixel: L, I, N, D, ... N
Daedalus Young: more DynamicReflections: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=198124
Tree Kyomoon: /lol a blushing watermelon...how could you tell?
Wyn Galbraith: I know where that is Daedalus.
Zee Pixel: it doesn't quite fit :)
Spurs Seattle: Sorry, Torley, VBO?
Daedalus Young: yeah, it's a cool place, Wyn
MenuBar Memorial: The E is silent Zee heh
Torley Linden: There is something likely wrong with VBO... it doesn't improve my performance like it used to. I'm on NVIDIA 168.12 drivers too at the moment.
Torley Linden: Spurs, in Preferences > Adv. Graphics tab.
Wyn Galbraith: I wrote about the piano store near there, secondwynd.typead.com
Daedalus Young: l-i-n-d-n and Linden was his name-o
Torley Linden: Hehe.
Roberto Salubrius: ok let me take a picture here with renderglow and render dinamic reflections
Spurs Seattle: Sorry, yes, its on
Wyn Galbraith needs to get all her projects finished so she can just explore again.
Spurs Seattle: I havent noticed any stuttering
Tree Kyomoon: Ive been buttering
Torley Linden: OK... Spurs if you zoom in and out or turn... compare that ON/OFF... to see if it gets better/worse and look at FPS too.
Elsa Charron: hi everybody
Torley Linden: It's *supposed* to increase FPS but hasn't done me good lately.
Spurs Seattle: Will do
Tree Kyomoon: hi dr. nick!
Torley Linden: Heyhey Elsa!
Zee Pixel: Torley, not to break the subject, but what did you think of that museum?
Torley Linden: Oh dear pardon just as some new guests arrive here, I have got to be going. But thanks all for joining me for another Office Hour at Watermelinden Land! =)
Daedalus Young: also, this many avs around kills framerate
Grey Kurka: Definately stutters
Tree Kyomoon: buy torley!
Elsa Charron: lol
Torley Linden: Zee, I really enjoyed seeing the help-bot and the museum! I want to go back there, my texture loading sucked.
Daedalus Young: ah, thanks Torley
MenuBar Memorial: Thanks Torley!
Wyn Galbraith: Thanks for having us Torley. Always a pleasure to be at your hour, makes a nice end to the week.
Roberto Salubrius: Torley ca I ask you a question in private after you leave ?
Zee Pixel: Heh, thanks for checking it out. please visit again.
Elsa Charron: thanks torley see ya
Tree Kyomoon: thanks for not telling me to stop making dumb puns !
Torley Linden: Thanks everyone! Awwwwe. Roberto, please feel free to send me email (torley@lindenlab.com) :)
Torley Linden: Have a great weekend all! Haha.
Torley Linden: I love puns!
Daedalus Young: next week, same Torley-time, same Torley-channel
Torley Linden: Bye for now. =^_^=
