Linux Client

ALPHA

( "Alpha" means it is only for risk-embracing geeks to try: "Beta" would be trustworthy-enough for risk-embracing-normal-people :)

The Linux Client ( version 1,18.5(3) )

  1. Works remarkably well, given how many years-behind the MS-Windows client it is,
  2. Performs admirably well in comparison with many other Newly Created For Linux clients/apps. . .
  3. It does, however, saturate ( 100%, continuously ) 1 CPU-core ( it doesn't share-the-load in multi-core CPUs )
  4. And IF you have a good-enough, modern-enough graphics-board, AND you have good & trustworthy drivers for it, properly installed ( Radeon HD2400 & Catalyst 7.12 is quite sufficient ), then you can enable all the extra lighting & effects, and get a noticeably improved virtual-reality.

Changing the setting for Lighting, from Single-Source to Local Lighting, in particular, is significant.
